LPT: Don't share the goals you're working towards on social media until you've achieved them. If you reward yourself before even getting started, your chances of hitting your goals significantly decrease.

I've lived by this tip and it has been a tried and true method for me to hit my goals. Gathering all the internet karma and heart reactions is so much more worth it once I no longer have to keep working.

Source: in 2020 I announced for the first time I quit my 15 year chewing tobacco habit after going cold turkey for 3 years.

After 6 months of the pandemic I shared my celebration of losing 50lbs and knowing I had already hit my goal made me feel like I really deserved the compliments.

After working for 6 weeks to rebrand my website and business i finally launched and got 100x more views than I did compared to my other posts advertising it.

I had already made and published my first podcast episode and organically grew it before I shared it amongst my social media friends. They were so much more interested in the project once it was already established versus needing their support to kick it off.

Countless other achievements I've done have worked by this method. It just works to keep a personal battle to yourself until after you've won it.

EDIT: Evidence exists for the opposite to be true. Evidence also exists for this to be true. Lots of people saying "quit social media" - for many like myself, social media is how they make money. I advertise on social media and run a web hosting and event hosting business online. Just not realistic.

YMMV, of course. Share with people in person, like your partners and house mates so they can check in on you. But announce your wins to the world when you're ready!

Riot has increased RP prices on EUW/EUNE multiple times citing that EUR has devalued compared to USD now EUR is almost all time high compared to USD in 5 years yet there isn't a decrease. We are currently overpaying RP by 20%

When dollar/USD hit 1.06 they increase how much we pay for RP to almost the same amount NA players pay by claiming that they have to convert EUR to USD so they were losing money compared to NA sales, now 1 EUR is worth 1.21 USD yet we are still paying the same inflated prices.

10 USD gets you 1380 RP while on EUW 10 EUR gets you 1380 RP meanwhile 10 USD is currently worth 8.35 euros so currently NA is getting their RP for 20% cheaper than we do.

Not to mention EU average GDP per capita is significantly lower than of an US person with lower hourly wages in almost all member states.

A Bulgarian Hungarian or Polish person who is making $1.75-$2 minimal wage is expected to pay more for RP than a person in the US earning at least 5 times as much according to Riot games

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_the_European_Union EU:

GDP per capita $35,623 (nominal; 2019)

$44,539 (PPP; 2019)

USA:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_the_United_States

$63,051 (2020 est.)

Edit: some users pointed out I should use the Median income for both EU and US so I did some math

https://appsso.eurostat.ec.europa.eu/nui/show.do?dataset=ilc_di04&lang=en

here is EU median wage by country

All EU countries combined have a median yearly income of 17,858 Euros

According to my research

US median income after all the factors is 31,880 US dollar

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_income_in_the_United_States

Lets say we spend 1% of this on RP this would mean we spent 318,8 USD or 178,5 EUR

318,8 USD gets us 3x 15,000 RP packages we will leave the other $20 for sales taxes as I believe $20 is an appropiate amount for that due to some states having no digital sales taxes or no sales taxes at all while others having 6-10%

an average US citizen ended up with 45,000 RP using 1% of their income

An average EU citizen's 1% income is 150 EUR a year (17,858/12)

150 EUR gets us 3x 7200 RP packages

Total of 21600 RP

NA RP =45,000

EU RP =21600 RP

From this you can see NA on average can buy nearly 110% more RP on their median wage then an average Europian, please debate me if I'm wrong on anything as I'd like to improve on the metrics if I'm wrong on something.

Proposal to significantly decrease MOON earned from Memes.

''I wish I had kept my 1,700 BTC at $0.06 instead of selling them at $0.30, now that they're $8,00!''

We probably all know what meme/comedy post I'm talking about, because it gets reposted every memeweekend. People are waiting till memes are allowed again, and reach the top getting thousands of upvotes with bad reposts who are at least 3 years old.

This proposal therefore limits the MOON earned from memes to 10% of the karma gathered. This means that if a Memepost gets 5K karma, the OP will gain MOON over 500 karma.

At the moment there's a strong disconnection between quality content and earned MOON. This is unfair to people that put effort into making well-thought-out quality posts. Other subscribers here see that it's really easy to get to the top with low effort copypasta memes, creating a snowball effect.

(Woman-related) decrease in sensitivity from cycling

Maybe this is just a me thing, I know people talk about saddle sores but what about decrease in sensitivity down south? I cycle pretty regularly, bike commuting 50 miles round trip in the summer months for work and trainer rides when it’s too cold for outdoor riding. I’ve recently broken my foot and have thus taken a break from indoor trainer rides and immediately saw a huge spike in sensitivity during intimate activities. I’ve had bike fittings and am comfortable with my fit/ have a women’s saddle but also didn’t realize cycling was making my sex life less enjoyable. Has this happened to other people, not much comes up when googling it? How have I gone so long without realizing there was a correlation?!

What are alternatives to an abortion ban that you'd support in an attempt to decrease the number of abortions?

I'm looking for any and all suggestions. This can be anywhere from better access to contraceptives, sex education or even something more out there like forced vasectomies. Whatever it is please give at least some explanation on the method(s) you support and why you support them.

The focus of this post is to find common areas rather than to disagree. Hopefully we can see and acknowledge that there are many smaller hurdles that we can overcome before working on the mountain that is an abortion ban.

If you believe there is no alternatives or that there is no reason to work to decrease abortions then this probably isnt the post for you but of course you are still welcome to explain your position.

Im tired of dealing with super mutants randomly shooting at my camp, when Im on the edge of how far you can see things, whats more annoying is that they didnt start doing so until I was done building my new camp, (on private server loaded in multiple times prior to completion) and they are the only enemy that seems to do this, its rather annoying having to go and kill them everytime someone decides to fast travel to my base, and its not like I can place down turrets because they super mutants are out of range of my turrets. They are so far that even when I try and shoot them from my camp I cant actually see them, just the bullet path.

We need to ethically and non-violently decrease global population and fertility rates. How can we achieve this?

We all want everyone in the world to live prosperously and comfortably, but years of rapid industrial capitalism is a price that will take maybe a couple of centuries to recover from. I would NEVER say that "the Third World clean up its act so we can solve the resource problem- i.e. making sure the Frist World can keep living in wasteful consumption." I want everyone to live like a First Worlder with a computer, flavored coffee creamer, and the choice to eat out or in tonight, but without old generations of game consoles and packaging products filling up suburban garages and throwing away half our bread and meat every month.

P.S. Hating citizens of the First World is like finding a landlord that is a total p**** and declaring that the occupant is like that and just as culpable.

[Discussion] Apple should add the option to Toggle the Home-Bar Indicator ON-OFF, or add the ability to decrease the opacity (when idle for 5-10 sec?) for the Home Bar Under Accessibility Settings!

Talking from UI POV, the home bar always gets on the way of the content, looks gigantic and is there whether we like it or not. Especially true on the iPad. It is already integrated into out muscle-memory: to be flicking up from the bottom of the screen to go home. And now, speaking as an experienced UI designer: perhaps there should be a toggle in the Accessibility Settings on both the iPad/iPhone to have the Home Button (Bar) Indicator completely removed, and or have the Opacity of the Home Bar Indicator go all the way down to 10%-15% depending on the individual user’s choice. Or have it slowly disappear and fade as the time goes by. This new feature, if introduced would behave similar to that of an β€œAssistive Touch” and the β€œIdle Opacity” under the Accessibility tab: I still rmbr Steve Jobs removing the keyboard for touch screen, cuz it was there whether we want or not...

I have an iPad 9.7 (2018) & the iPhone 11 Pro. Both of these devices have a common mechanism of going back to home – along with multi-tasking within apps – the fact that the iPads, along with the newer iPhones can both go home with an upward swipe from the bottom of the screen. But, what both of them do NOT have in common are the fact that the older iPad does have a physical home-button whereas the newer iPhone does NOT. Another thing that is not common between the two is that the iPhone has a Home Bar Indicator, whereas the iPad 9.7 does not. However, the functionality remains the same. Flick-up from the bottom of the screen and go home, or swipe left / right to switch between the apps. This new method of flicking-up to go home is so convenient and I love this new integration.

Also in a keynote from Steve Jobs – back in the day, while introducing the iPhones – he had mentioned that other phones – at that time – had this full-on physical keyboard that was present there whether it was utilized OR not. But, while introducing the iPhones, Steve’s team solved that problem with bringing this full-on touch-screen hardware that replaced something outdated. Since the touch-screen CAN BE TURNED into a keyboard, or a video-player UI, buttons, or ANYTHING & EVEYTHING: according to the needs, it never got in the way of the user’s screen. However, this new Home-Bar Indicator seems to be going exactly against what Steve had envisioned the touch-screen would do... This is not CONSISTENCY between the devices.

If the world went vegan, would our agricultural land use stay the same, or decrease?

Hello. I support veganism pretty much wholesale already. I just have one small question.

I think we can all agree that animal agriculture is sucks for the planet. According to ourworldindata.org, 77% of agricultural land is used for livestock, while 23% is used for plant-based food (crops).

So if we abolished animal agriculture in the future, then 77% of agricultural land would be theoretically free to use for plant-based food.

But if everyone went vegan, I assume that all 7.5 billion of us will eat more plants than we do now.

If that's the case, wouldn't the environmental benefit of abolishing animal agriculture be offset by the additional consumption of plant-based foods (so more land use)? Or will our land use still decrease?

Amethyst Crystals can be Used in Enchantment Tables to Decrease The Cost of Enchantments.

The name basically states the whole idea. I think this would add much more versatility to them as well, instead of just having it be another situational crafting material. I'm imagining for a fully upgraded enchantment table, the max level cost would go from 30 to around 23-25.

To keep lapis balanced, maybe another con could be added to using amethyst. The most obvious idea is to just make them difficult to farm, which was already hinted at. Another idea is to make it so that using amethysts means you couldn't get high-level enchantments, though that would kinda defeat the purpose of using them in the first place.
