I’m fortunate enough to have both PS5 and series X (a lot of sleepless nights and following Twitter accounts for months is my advice on how to accomplish that!)
PS5 certainly at first felt much more futuristic. It’s home dashboard type software runs in 4k for a start, has cool kinda spooky music and animations. And Astros Playroom is a legitimately fantastic game and awesome nostalgic intro to PS5. Plus the first time you turn on your PS5, all the music and unique first load animations - it’s pure magic.
The series X while impressive certainly didn’t feel very exciting at all when I opened it up compared to PS5. Same dashboard. Same pins. Same games. Literally transferred across my old Xbox data and settings so perfectly I had no way to even know I had a new console! Nothing to welcome me or excite me.
But Xbox was hiding it’s next-gen features under the surface I think.
Now over time, they have become more apparent - and today’s May update made it perfect for me (other than 4k dashboard, which I think they really should do at this point! I don’t buy it uses too much power)
On my Series X, I now have thanks to today’s update:
Cool OG Xbox themed dynamic background, it’s so cool and much more interesting than static backgrounds were
New quick resume menu. Showing all the games available to resume. And it’s works so much better now! Forza Horizon 4 now loads instantly, no more controller disconnection message and no more audio judder on load. It’s just magic now. Instantly skip between multiple games. This is incredible.
Apparently, Dolby Vision for gaming too!
This is all true next gen stuff.
I quickly swapped between Max Max, Overcooked 2 and Shadow of Tomb Raider with only seconds between and perfectly resuming each, when I realised, these games also are frame rate boosted to twice or four times the usual frame rate
Xbox is just killing it with awesomeness right now!
I’m super impressed.
And very glad a lot of my library is on Xbox.
I think Xbox simply has to be the best 3rd party console this generation now, has lots of exclusives coming up too, it’s just great. Plus the Series S is perfect for so many 1080p TV owners too and costs so much less.
I do adore PS5 as well… if anyone in PS5 subreddit is digging my history as I post there too and sees this, know I love the PS5. But it’s a lot more surface level in its next gen. New rumbly controllers and 4k home menus are OBVIOUSLY in your face next gen. But I’d argue quick resume, sma... keep reading on reddit ➡
Hi everyone, I want to have a family dashboard displayed in my living room. Something like this that shows meal plan, weather, sports scores, what's on the family "to do" list, etc. I started making my own in PHP but thought there must be something out there already... I looked through self-hosted "dashboards" but most of them are related to server health and bookmarks to webapps, which is not really what I want.
Anyway, using the above dashboard as a template, I might just recreate it in LibreOffice Calc and leave it at that LOL... Self-hosted doesn't have to be fancy, right? keep it simple!!
Here’s the dashboard tracking trading by U.S. Senators.
A while back I did a little write-up on which politicians I actually think browse this sub, I’ll copy that below:
Honorable Mention: Former Rep. Barbara Comstock (VA-10)
Comstock lost her 2018 re-election bid and I don't necessarily think she is a WSBer (she doesn't trade nearly as many meme stocks as the other guys on this list) but I do blame her for turning off the ATM that was 2016-2018 $MU.
She bought ~$75,000 worth of Micron Technology stock on 6/25/18, just days before the first stretch in years when the stock wasn't literally printing money. MU lost half its value in the next 6 months, and still hasn't recovered to the price she purchased it at.
#5. Rep. Alan Lowenthal (CA-47)
Favorite meme stocks: SPCE, GLD
Lowenthal is actually one of the more successful traders on this list, having gotten in to $GLD in September of 2019. He also timed his exit from $SPCE pretty well, selling about half of his position right at the mid-February peak.
If I had to guess, I'd say Lowenthal just lurks the sub looking for opportunities to inverse WSB.
#4. Rep. Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5)
Favorite meme stocks: SNAP, TSLA, GE, NVDA, LULU, AMD
The Josh Gottheimer story is a story of perseverance and diamond hands. I'm pretty sure this guy read some DD on here that said SNAP was going to moon after its IPO, because he bought into the stock just days after it went public. He caught the falling knife right on its tip as his position lost 75% of its value over the next couple years. A lesser man would have cut the loss, but Gottheimer just kept buying up more $SNAP even as it was losing him money. Those of you who have an eye on the markets (perhaps a minority) will know that his grit and determination was rewarded handsomely in the last couple months.
#3. Sen. Pat Roberts (Kansas)
Favorite meme stocks: TSLA, GLD, BYND, NVDA, GE
Pat Roberts is another guy that I think just comes here to inverse the sub. Roberts made an impeccably well-timed TSLA play a few months ago when he bought in on August 3rd, just a few days before the August run-up began and then sold on September 1st, just before the early September drop.

Good day all, I am a data analyst in a manufacturing sector but I spent majority of my time building dashboards and user interfaces for my users. All of these are done using R and I hardly touch on the analytics part of my job. My boss did ask me if I am comfortable with building interfaces for the company or do I want to focus on the analytics part of my job. I picked the former because I really enjoy designing and building interfaces for my users as oppose to analysing huge datasets. More recently I was approached by a manager from another department who asked me to build an app that can help our customers scan mini barcode on their products.
My question for everyone is does that still make me a data analyst or am I transiting to a UX designer/SE?
