And we know it because they told us.
Iβm eager to learn about the evolution of use of your Crossfit shoes. I donβt really know how to describe it any better so let me start by telling you mine.
Like many Crossfitters Iβve a shoe problem. My Nano 4βs were my main squeezes for a long time, honestly for a few years until Nano 7βs came out. My Nano 4βs then became something of a hiking shoe, and the pair I would always take with me on city trips when I had to walk for along time.
Like I said I got the Nano 7βs (Barbells for Boobs pink) and used them for a few seasons. I still love them, when the Nano Xβs came out I started my own box and the first thing I did, because I felt I deserved it, was lace my 7βs together and throw them over a beam in the center of the box.
I briefly used my Nano Xβs (too bulky for me) for Crossfit purposes. Then I bought the Metcon 6 βWhat The?!β which are now my ultimately favorite pair of Crossfit shoes. My Nano Xβs are now my running shoes.
Okay so this seems nonsensical but I would still love to hear your shoe stories :)
I know itβs a small milestone but Iβm so excited about this. Also βmy entire lifeβ is just 25 years, but Iβve always said how much I hate running and that Iβd rather walk for 45 minutes than run for 5.
The last time we ran a mile about a month ago I stopped so many times and felt sick afterwards. This time I didnβt stop at all and felt great afterwards. Itβs amazing seeing and feeling progress π
I was finally pushed overboard when I did a sit-up workout today that created a painful scab on the tailbone. I have a two inch thick sit-up mat so I know thatβs not my problem. Is there something I am doing wrong or is this normal?
Total surprise to me. My previous one rep max was 250, no clue how I did it, but Iβm finally starting to not feel like the out of shape, weak old guy.
I honestly just want to feel good and kinda didnβt care much about weight, but honestly I was genuinely proud of myself. Really glad I found the gym I am at.

Am I missing anyone?
I have been doing Crossfit for over 2 years now. I absolutely love it, but my larger than normal boobs have made it very uncomfortable for a lot of the movements. I have struggled to find a sports bra that has coverage, enough compression, etc. I have basically been wearing two bras which is not comfortable. If anyone else struggled with this and has any suggestions, I am all ears! Thanks :-)
What's going on with the programming with CrossFit(affiliates and HQ)? We used to do wods with sledge hammer strikes, tire flips, sled pushes, etc. back when I first started. Now it seems like we just do a select few bar movements, running, dubs, hspu, gymnastic movements, and some cardio machine. What happen? I used to love going outside of the box things at CrossFit because that's what CrossFit is, cross training. My box did this wod with 48' box jump overs and 100ib ball toss over the box at our Christmas workout a few weeks back. I loved that and told the owner we need to see more of that stuff. I look at the CrossFit Games and see so many ideas that our locals can do but don't for some reason. I know we are in Open prep but even back before that it's all been the same. Toss on a sandbag/ruck and go outside and have a blast of a workout.
Does anyone do anything outside the normal in your box? I feel like we keep doing the same thing over and over again. And to add I completely understand how programming works and how they put together a weeks worth of training. I've seen the diagram.
Hey guys!
Right now, I am 5"10 and 160 lbs and 16ish% body fat. I feel like I want to join crossfit, but I am not sure if I would fit in with the other people. For instance, I was challenged after doing 10 reps of 75 lbs on the dumbbell chest press but was able to do it. I was also challenged by the shoulder press with just using a bar, but was also able to do that. Additionally, I was able to do 20 lb dumbbell curls but struggled.
Are my stats out of the range for a beginner to crossfit? I feel like a fitness failure!
Anybody else out there all tall and heavy (6β 2β & 270) ? There are certain things Iβm not sure I ever see myself doing. A kip looks like it would pull my arm out the sockets. A muscle up of any type ?! Psssshhhh. Hand stand push ups. Lol. Whenever anything is on the board that involves hanging or supporting my entire body weight with my arms Iβm looking for the plan b or c. Scaled. Not obese. 50ish in age.
Anybody else in this situation ?
Which one does he tell you about first?
Hi. Iβm sure this subreddit gets these questions ALL the time, and itβs probably annoying by now. Iβve done as much research on Google and through this sub as possible and still, Iβm left wondering if this is right for me.
I grew up really unhealthy, like most Americans. My family is obese and eats like crap. Luckily for me, I took an interest in nutrition as a teenager and Iβd say my diet is pretty good. Not perfect, but pretty good. Iβm vegetarian, but I definitely get half my weight or more in protein, healthy fats, whole grains, and I eat 10-12 servings of vegetables a day.
Iβm overweight by BMI standards. Nothing too wild, about 15 pounds overweight. I have an hourglass body shape, so I never really thought of myself as chunky because Iβm fine with my body.. in clothes. I love my curves and wanna keep them.. again, in clothes.
Out of clothes, I have a lot of body fat and jiggle and flab. Mostly in my thighs and butt. Iβd love to tone up. My stomach is flat, but not toned. Iβd like to get it toned. Iβd like to be STRONG.
Iβm a tiny human. Iβm hardly 5 feet tall. And Iβm weak. I canβt do a single push-up. I canβt even get close. When I did go to the gym, I only ever did cardio and it wasnβt anywhere near HIIT. It was like, light jogging for an hour until I felt like I was gonna pass out.
I have a home gym set up where I do crunches, and jumping jacks, and some resistance bands training I direct myself through with an app. I can carry 8 pound dumbbells at most, and it hurts.
While I want my body to be strong and toned, my main goal here is HEALTH. I want to be healthy. I have an anxiety disorder when it comes to my health due to how I grew up and the things Iβve watched my family go through, and so Iβm terrified of illnesses based on inadequate health like Diabetes, heart disease, etc. Iβve learned that weight doesnβt matter, your health is what matters. Iβd love to be around like minded individuals whose goal is to be strong and healthy, and less around fat shaming people which is what Iβve always gotten at the gym. Iβve always gotten people caring too much about calories and fitting into a bikini. I donβt care about that. I care about my blood results being perfect every time I go. I care about being able to hold my own body weight if I ever needed to. Plus, if Iβm going to be in shorts, I donβt want to feel stares at if people are staring at my cellulite or jiggly thighs. Iβm there to get healthy, not to win a beauty contest and my insecuritie
... keep reading on reddit β‘I've always trained cardio and weights separately and been somewhat sceptical of Crossfit but this article seems to suggest there's something to it, how should I go about experimenting? https://researchfeatures.com/step-aerobics-strength-training-perfect-combination-energy-expenditure/
First, I own two pairs of Ten Thousand shorts and I have had no problems with their products. Unfortunately thereβs more to being a business than having a good product, and this company is severely missing the mark in their customer service, integrity, and common decency. Iβve tried posting warning for people on social media because I wish someone would have warned me before starting to do business with them, but they have managed to get my posts deleted and block me. They have a BBB rating of F, and a 1 out of 5 star review rating from customers (https://www.bbb.org/us/ca/cypress/profile/online-retailer/ten-thousand-1126-1000060139). This is the same company that runs advertising campaigns based off of having βThousands of 5 star reviews!β Iβm sure thatβs true! If you happen to have a good experience where they donβt rip you off, then youβd probably be happy with your purchase. Iβm over here still waiting while theyβve owed me over $100 for over a year now and they wonβt respond to me, my BBB complaint, and as Iβve mentioned theyβve blocked my social media accounts. This is a very shady company posing as legit and it seems like the only place you can find complaints about them that havenβt been censored is on BBB. I encourage anyone considering supporting this company to go read the BBB reports for yourself and then decide if this is the kind of company you want to support when there are so many other options out there that arenβt habitually swindling people.
Great conversation
Hi there,
Would you say that crossfit is a good way of making friends compared to other sports clubs, running clubs, etc? I did a bit of crossfit in my home town/country and found a really social club, but sadly didn't stay long. So I thought I'd try it in my current city (Melbourne).
I have found people to be friendly enough, but from my experience at the couple of clubs I've tried I havent been introduced to the other members and no one will introduce themselves. So I feel a bit weird doing it as maybe its typically not too social an environment and people are doing it more for fitness (which I totally understand). What have your experiences been? Should I try more clubs or maybe look at different hobbies!
