After dealing with the inconvenient surprise of getting my phone turned off because my bank shut down my compromised card and losing some subcriber benefits from the phone company because of a perceived "late payment" I realized that auto payments on debit cards really suck.
Another horror story is my friend having a 12 hour gap in insurance coverage and having his totalled car not covered because auto payment didn't go through. He was royally screwed, paying down a car loan on something he couldn't drive.
Always use EFT (electronic debit from checking) for auto payments whenever possible. If nothing else, you will save yourself the headache of entering new payment info when your card expires.
Hello I'm 21 years old and have no established credit I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for my first credit card and also good ways to build my credit.
This is my first post on this subreddit so please take down if not allowed. Thanks!
So I bought a laptop for $925. I used my credit card (for the extended warranty) and I already paid off the balance immediately after it posted. Yesterday I decided I didn't want it so I returned it. My credit card balance is currently at $0.
Usually when I get a refund and my card is paid off, it's only like $30-$50 and it just gets credited to the account and I have a temporarily higher credit limit. I'll just buy gas and get it back to normal. But since this is $925, can I get that back in my checking account (that I used to pay the bill) or can they send me a check? Or will I have to just keep using the card until I get back to zero? It's an Amex card through USAA if that matters.
I am 23 and am looking to do a fair bit of traveling before beginning graduate school next year, by utilizing some of the SUBs certain cards have to offer. I'm most interested in applying to the CSR, Citi advantage platinum, or barclays arrival plus as these seem to offer the largest sub. Are there any other cards that you would recommend? Would it be a good idea to apply to multiple cards at once, and would it be considered as only 1 hard inquiry?
It would be extremely helpful if you can share some tips, give your own recommendations as to the best way to accumulate more points, or provide more insight into the application process.
Credit history:
Discover it card- 4 years
Chase Sapphire Preferred 2.5 years
Capital one venture card- 1.5 years
American express blue cash everyday - 1.5
Credit score hovers around 770 depending on utilization rate through out the month (equifax, transunion, fico). I carry no debt and payoff my balance in full each month.
What would be the likely hood of me being approved to the cards mentioned above, and any of your other recommendations? Appreciate all the advice, and thank you!
So, I own a small t-shirt company out of Alabama. We had someone contact us and ask if they could order a large wholesale order of shirts through us. We normally personalize orders, but we didn't think too much of this because we have had people ask for us to order t-shirts for them wholesale before.
It was a very large order. $3000 ($1,500 profit). We use Shopify as our site host and there was no fraud detection on this order. We even had the person have someone call and confirm the card details with us because the person ordering wasn't the cardholder. They had all the information about the card. We fulfilled the order and moved on. This was late summer. A few days before Christmas we got an e-mail saying the cardholder's bank was taking back that $3,000.
I honestly don't understand how they are able to do that, but I have no schooling in business or finances. We are working with Shopify to try and get that money back, but is there something else we should or could do to help the situation? We are a really small business and so this large chunk of money being taken out of our account really hurt us. It over drafted our account days before Christmas (our absolute dead period) and now we just have to wait and see what happens? It's a really sucky situation so I was hoping to get advice or reassurance that we may get that money back.
I appreciate any feedback!
Are they a scam?
In the past year I have been working to get control of my finances. I have admittedly become obsessed with YNAB. And I am ok with that. Now that I feel that I have the upper hand and discipline, I thought it was time to start using credit cards to take advantage of the rewards programs.
A few weeks ago, thinking my Credit Score was still in the 600 range, I signed up for the Capital One QuickSilver One card that has a $39 annual fee over the QuickSilver that does not have an annual fee. I was approved with a $3,000 limit. I have been using it for a week and a half so far. I have already paid the $39 fee and have made several payments to keep up with my charges. In fact I have already earned $6 back.
Today a coworker told me that I should have looked at the Citi Double Cash card which gives 2% cash back. I rolled the dice and applied. I was approved for a $3,000 limit, but this card does not carry an annual fee.
My question is, what should I do about the QuickSilver card. Should I close it? Can I close it already? How would this affect my Credit Score? The only benefit is that they do not charge Forex fees, but I have no plans of leaving the country anytime soon.
When I applied, Citi informed me that my Credit Score is now 701. Which means it went up 100 pts in the last few months. How will opening two cards so close to each other affect my score as well?
Edit: Based on feedback below, I have called Capital One and received an upgrade to the VentureOne credit card with $0 annual fee. Thank you all for the feedback.
I added and verified a credit card.
I intended to withdraw USD to the credit card.
If I go to deposit section of the site, the card shows up.
However, when I go to the "withdraw" section of the cex.io site, the following message is shown:
"You have no cards available for withdrawal in selected currency."
The credit card is in USD.
Do I simply need to wait until the card to show up in my account or is there something more I need to do.
I am in my 40s and have accumulated four different credit cards. I use all of them and pay them off each month, so I don't carry balances. I have started traveling for work and need to get a Delta Skymiles Amex, so it's a good time to start eliminating some cards. My credit score is in the 800s. Is it better to apply for the new card first or close three cards before applying for the new one?
My friend works at a small craft jewelry store. About two months ago a man came into the store and bought a $2,000 ring, their most expensive item. The credit card he used went through fine, with no indication of it being stolen. A few weeks after that the police showed up to ask questions about the ring. Sometime around 2 months after the initial sale of the ring, $2,000 was removed from their bank account by Global Pay. There was apparently no notice from the company, and they only noticed it when reviewing their bank statements. The company has a very thin operating budget, to the point where my friend is now having to work over time without due compensation, and is probably looking at a bounced pay check or two. I suggested the owner contact the bank and dispute the withdraw, but this is really far outside my area of expertise. What can they do Reddit?
Ok, so
Over the past year, due to mismanagement and a minor automotive emergency, I managed to rack up some credit card debt. As of right now, I've brought the balance down to $505 (out of a limit of $1000). I've been making monthly payments at about $100 a month for the past couple of months and at this rate I should have it paid off in full by April of 2012.
However, as I said in the title, I have a reserve credit limit of $500 that (in theory) I could use to pay off the debt in full, well almost. As the interest rate on the credit limit is 11.25%APR while the credit card is 11.45%APR
The credit card is a Student Visa through the University of Wisconsin Credit Union as is the reserve credit limit.
I guess my question(s) would be if it's worth it/plausible to pay off the balance, or if I should just suck it up and stick with my monthly payments (which I should have no difficulty continuing to make).
So I have Amazon prime and it told me I could get $100 if I sign up for their credit card. The thing is Iโm on a free prime account and I plan on canceling after my trial is over. So if I cancel will I have to give the $100 back? Also I donโt really plan on using this card ever really. I just want the $100 for christmas shopping. Iโm 21, I have one โstarterโ credit card card (wells Fargo college card) that I got at 18 and I spend about $100-300 on it every month and pay it off in full on time every month for 3 years so I know how to use a card. For a responsible card user like myself is this a good card?
The referral link is generated using my Amex Gold credit card. But it can be used to apply for any Amex credit card. I currently have the Amex Gold credit card (good for restaurants and flights) and Blue Cash Preferred (buy GCs from grocery stores) so I definitely recommend those two. Plus, AMEX sends you great offers every day such as $10 off $100 on Amazon.

So I just got a refund back from my college because they were doing a special deal because of COVID going on. So I got refunded 1 class for free. However it went straight to my credit card card, I thought it was going to go into my checking account. Anyways I recently paid off my credit card. So now itโs in the negative because of the refund. Does it just stay like that? Or does it eventually go back into my checking account?
Ciao, I'm moving to Italy and I am currently looking for a website to help me find the best banking options in Italy. In the UK we have sites like Money Saving Expert that helps a lot with that. Is there an equivalent in Italy?
Examples of things I'm currently looking for:
Grazie mille!
Man, where do I start with this place...
On 8/4/2020 @ 7:10PM CenterFireGuns.com sent out an "in stock" notification to subscribers for a Dead Air KeyMo Omega. Immediately the deal was posted to /r/GunDeals and I placed an order using a generated virtual card which is one-time use locked to this particular retailer.
Shortly thereafter an order cancellation was sent out at 7:20PM stating:
> Thank you for placing your order with us for the Dead Air Armament KEY-MO MNT. I regret to inform you that we had an inventory error on our website and we do not have this item in stock as our website said we did.
> We have placed an order for more of these accessories, but have not been given expectations of when they will arrive. So we are not holding onto your funds during this time, I have canceled your order and released the authorization on your credit card. Card authorizations will be removed from your account in about two business days and you will not see a charge from us.
> I sincerely apologize that we were not able to complete your order, thank you for your business and please let me know if there is anything further I can do for you.
Orders were then refunded and that was that. However, just last night my credit card issuer notified me of an attempted (yet thankfully, declined due to being a locked virtual card) charge at GUESS.COM.
This credit card was generated for, and only ever entered in a single website: centerfireguns.com. I obviously don't have enough evidence to accuse the the retailer of malicious intent, however, the entire ordeal smells fishy. Regardless, their system has been compromised one way or another. If you've placed any orders there recently, I would highly suggest you contact your credit card issuer and check for fraudulent activity. There has been at least one other user who reports that they were compromised as well.
That being said, if your credit card supports it, virtual cards are definitely the way to go!
Iโm new and have been doing a lot of research on credit cards lately. Iโm really interested in using credit cards to be able to travel easier and Iโve heard about the chase trifecta as well. I love itโs potential but I feel like managing a ton of credit cards would be tough and take a lot of time. Iโve also looked at citi double cash which has really appealed to me.
So basically my question is... what would be the most efficient credit card/cards to get if I want to be able to manage them easily while getting good benefits for travel food and gas?

45K/$2K is the public offer I'm seeing. In incognito through referral link, seeing 35K/$2K, with $150 Away credit.
Edit: Should've mentioned the $150 AF, too.
So this happened today/yesterday and I'll start by saying that I've honestly never been so embarrassed by something so little. Yesterday while at work got bored and wanted to see what was going on in snapchat. On the stories tab I noticed a really hot girl that I know posted something so I checked it out. She was promoting her onlyfans on snap and I really didn't believe her so i messaged her and asked if it were true. She tells me yes and when she said that my brain started turning. I wanna see this chicks onlyfans. I contemplated it for a while and decided to make an account and subscribe to her page. I made an entirely new email and used a fake name so she wouldn't know it was me, I don't know why I did but it made me feel better. I make the fake account and start putting my credit card information and at first it gives me an error. I assumed I just put in the info wrong and resubmit it and goes through. When I go to subscribe to her page it tells me the transaction can't go through and again I'm confused, I use another card and it goes through just fine. I just have to say her page was nothing like what I expected, disappointed I deleted my account and got on with my life. Fast forward to today I try to check my account and I get an error page, I thought they might have doing maintenance on the website so I try again a few hours later. Again nothing. I decide to call the number that it shows for technical support. I don't wait long and get a guy on line. He ask me my name and card number etc. He tells me my card got locked for some reason, not thinking anything of it I ask how come. The guy on the line tells the reason was because they got a red flag from a website called onlyfans and I asked if that was me or not. Just a wave of embarrassment washed over me when he said that, and wanting my card to be unlocked I tell him yeah that was me. He gets my card unlocked and tells me to have a good day while I'm here embarrassed at work.
TLDR: Tried to buy onlyfans with my credit card, card gets locked and I had to tell the guy on line that it was indeed me trying to buy am onlyfans.
So the wife and I are thinking of getting new credit cards to increase our Cash Back Rewards. We were lucky to get the USAA Limitless card which we use for everything. Being stationed overseas for 1 more year and possibly another 4yrs then why not reap the benefits some more. For those of you that have used these two cards recently are they worth it.
- USAA Cashback Rewards Plus American Expressยฎ Card : Use for the 5% back on the first $3,000 spent on AAFES per year.
- Amex Blue Cash Preferred - Use for the 6% back on commissary purchases up to $6000 spent per year.
>Like many other businesses trying to offer our customers maximum payment flexibility, we have elected to outsource our credit card processing. We are teaming up with CardX, a third party vendor, to provide a credit card payment solution ...Businesses that use CardX include medical offices, technology companies, banks, insurers, and more. If you choose to pay by credit card, CardX will automatically apply a 3.5% credit card fee to your credit card payment. This fee goes directly to CardX, and Rackspace doesn't receive any portion of it. .
Are there other Web Hosting companies doing this or has Rackspace just hit rock bottom?
What are some high quality alternatives to Rackspace for Managed Hosting for Dedicated Linux Server?

I have 2 credit cards, Card A with a balance of $7,000 (out of a credit line of $12,500) and Card B with a balance of $11,000 (out of a credit line of $14,000). I have $8,000 in cash to apply to these cards. My plan is to pay off Card A completely and pay $1,000 to Card B ($7,000-$1,000 split). Is this the best course of action? I only ask because my credit utilization percentage is higher on Card B, so I was wondering if I should split the $8,000 differently between the two cards to lower that percentage on Card B. Thanks in advance!
Edit: interest rates on the cards are almost equal (23.5% on Card A and 22.5% on Card B).
