I (32M) am working long hours in a rather stuffy office environment. However, despite the long hours (or maybe because of them), the management has encouraged "lifestyle" clubs at the workplace. For example, there is a Book Club, a Movie Lovers Club etc. They are free to join and are partially subsidised by the company, which makes joining a no-brainer. The process of creating one is rather simple: you need to have at least five members willing to join, a statement of purpose, as well as an approval from HR and upper management in order to be compliant with our workplace regulations.
At my workplace, I have a colleague I'll call Jane (29F) who has been at the office for a little over a year. She is a dedicated vegan and has been since I have known her. However, this has never been an issue or even that relevant. After a merger about six months ago, our team has received a number of new team members. A few of them were vegan as w... keep reading on reddit ➡
About 2 years ago, I (36F) started a club through a meetup site. It was for women to get together and do stuff like knit/crochet/sew/embroider/bead. It started slow but ramped up and became a bi-weekly thing. I became fairly close with a number of people and considered them friends.
As time went on and new people joined, others moved away, things shifted in the club. A lot of new or expecting mothers joined the group. Conversations in the meetups would eventually turn back to being about kids, no matter what other conversations were going on. Someone would be talking about their job, and one of the moms would find a way to steer the conversation to her daughter's grades.
Me and a few others would try to redirect conversation, encourage quiet folks to speak up, etc. At one point, a very cool new person joined, Amy, and during the last 2/3 of the meetup, she said something like "I didn't realize this was a Mom group."
They all laughed about it, but Amy didn't comeback. I sent her a... keep reading on reddit ➡
Howdy! Long time Zelda fan here. I got approval from the Mods to do a giveaway of 2 of my Club Nintendo 25th Anniversary Zelda posters. I thought someone here might want them. My hope is that it’d go to someone who will hang them up rather than sell them, as I could do that and could use the money.
The posters are still in very good condition.
I’m willing to ship anywhere in the 48 contiguous US!
The winner will be chosen randomly from the comment section. In the comments, I’d love it if you commented your favorite soundtrack from a Nintendo videogame. I’m learning Piano and I’m on the hunt for great music to learn (:
I’ll announce the winner on July 15th at 12PM MST
Edit: The winner is u/XxMCMAxX !!! Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I can’t wait to master all 3,000+ suggestions.
The Podcast with Chris Herring came out on July 23rd, just hours before Williams was shown on instagram partying at a club.
At 12:45 of the podcast which discussed the candidates for sixth man of the year, Lowe says “About Lou. Lou’s [numbers are] not gonna change. Lou’s Lou, you know what I mean... but he’s not young and the off court activities still exist I think he’s dialed them back a little bit by his own description... last year I wrote a story on Lou and Montrezl [Harrell] and their on-court and off-court relationship, and Lou told me a story... he said you know sometimes I just don’t tell the young players where I’m gonna go out at night cause they all want to come with me and like they can’t hang. They can’t play the next day doing what I do but I can play the next day.”
Really funny coincidence that this podcast came out right before all this happened and now Lou could be facing a 10 day sus... keep reading on reddit ➡
Finally, one man says, "Okay, but we start at 6:30 a.m."
He figures the early tee-time will discourage her.
The woman says this may be a problem and asks if she can be up to 15 minutes late.
They roll their eyes, but say, "Okay."
She's there at 6:30 am. sharp and beats all of them with an eye-opening 2-under par round.
She's fun and pleasant and the guys are impressed.
They congratulate her and invite her back the next week.
She smiles, and says, "I'll be there at 6:30, or 6:45."
The next week she again shows up at 6:30 sharp.
Only this time, she plays left-handed.
The three guys are incredulous as she still beats them with an even par round, despite playing with her off-hand.
They're totally amazed.
They can't figure her out.
She's very pleasant and a gracious winner.
They invite her back again, but each man harbors a burning desire to beat her.
The third week, she's 15 minutes late, which irritates the guys.
This week she plays right-handed and narrowly beats all th... keep reading on reddit ➡
