Romantic places in Colombo

Hey so Iโ€™ll get straight to the point. What are some private places in Colombo where you could make out with your partner? I really donโ€™t want go to a room with him cause Iโ€™ve heard a lot of disturbing things about them regarding hygiene and cameras. Weโ€™ve had fun before at the cinemas but well the seats are quite small which gets in the way. Any recommendations? Excuse the new account I never had a Reddit account, always browsed anonymously. My friend said try asking on r/SriLanka Thank you

A film for every country in the world.

I've been working on a project to see (at least) 1 film from every single country in the world. I thought this might be a fun way to generate some recommendations, and also start to think about all the possibilities for Criterion to explore world cinema even further. As good of a job as they do, once you start compiling a list it becomes clear how little of the world has been explored cinematically (or at least for me.)

I haven't completed my list, and haven't seen them all yet. Bold means I've actually watched a film. Blank means I'm actively looking for recs, and unbolded means I'm open to recs from films that people have seen and genuinely think are great.

I'd also love to see your own versions of the list to see which countries people have explored. And to steal viewing ideas from.

For the purposes of my list, Palestine & Taiwan are distinct countries. If you have any recs for other politically fraught territories that I have neglected to separate, please let me know as I'd be very interested in those as well.

I leave the specifics of what makes a film "from" a certain country up to you. I did my best to avoid films made by colonial forces, but have not completely succeeded. (I also think Beau Travail for Djibuti is a bit of a cop out.) So a lot of these will change as I get further under way. I've also leaned into using criterion titles/criterion filmmakers as the default, especially if there were multiple films I have seen from a specific country.

  1. Afghanistan โ€“ Wajma an Afghan Love Story
  2. Albania โ€“ A Tale from the Past
  3. Algeria โ€“ The Battle of Algiers- Gillo Pontecorvo

Unreached People Group of the Week - Algerians of Algeria

Sorry this is so late today, I got caught up with work and wedding planning this morning

Welcome to another UPG of the Week post! In the midst of Ramadan, we are doing Muslim people groups so that we can continue to pray for them in their continued service to a false god. This week meet the Algerians of Algeria!

Region: Algeria

https://preview.redd.it/t0mo7hcvbjv61.png?width=425&format=png&auto=webp&s=562508e9746b6a7560e8c3543d136be4d0ddbb67

Stratus Index Ranking (Urgency): 24

Climate: In this region, midday desert temperatures can be hot year round. After sunset, however, the clear, dry air permits rapid loss of heat, and the nights are cool to chilly. Enormous daily ranges in temperature are recorded.

Rainfall is fairly plentiful along the coastal part of the Tell Atlas, ranging from 400 to 670ย mm (15.7 to 26.4ย in) annually, the amount of precipitation increasing from west to east. Precipitation is heaviest in the northern part of eastern Algeria, where it reaches as much as 1,000ย mm (39.4ย in) in some years.

Farther inland, the rainfall is less plentiful. Algeria also has ergs, or sand dunes, between mountains. Among these, in the summer time when winds are heavy and gusty, temperatures can go up to 43.3ย ยฐC (110ย ยฐF).

Terrain: Since the 2011 breakup of Sudan, and the creation of South Sudan, Algeria has been the largest country in Africa, and the Mediterranean Basin. Its southern part includes a significant portion of the Sahara. To the north, the Tell Atlas form with the Saharan Atlas, further south, two parallel sets of reliefs in approaching eastbound, and between which are inserted vast plains and highlands. Both Atlas tend to merge in eastern Algeria. The vast mountain ranges of Aures and Nememcha occupy the entire northeastern Algeria and are delineated by the Tunisian border. The highest point is Mount Tahat (3,003 metres or 9,852 feet).

Algeria lies mostly between latitudes 19ยฐ and 37ยฐN (a small area is north of 37ยฐN and south of 19ยฐN), and longitudes 9ยฐW and 12ยฐE. Most of the coastal area is hilly, sometimes even mountainous, and there are a few natural harbours. The area from the coast to the Tell Atlas is fertile. South of the Tell Atlas is a steppe landscape ending with the Saharan Atlas; farther south, there is the Sahara desert.

The Hoggar Mountains, also known as the Hoggar, are a highland region in central Sahara, southern Algeria. They are located about 1,500ย km (932ย mi) south of the capital, Alg

Tldr: Dont be a d**khead!

Excerpt from 'i Croupier' by Jack Manfred -

I, like many of you, am a human. I had this status thrust upon me, I wouldnt say it was against my will, but I certainly was not consulted. It has not been an easy journey to get here, but I am reliably informed that it is considerably harder for the many of our species. Why are a lot of these so called less fortunate humans happier?! Is it that our brains have not evolved at the same frantic rate as our technology? This is something we might look at later, If I remember. So yes, you the reader are encouraged to take an active role in all of this by forming your own opinions, checking facts, questioning rhetoric and generally thinking for yourself. This may be an unfamiliar concept to some, even a little jarring if you were raised to be religious. Sorry if that offends you, Im just glad you were not physically harmed by that barbed comment.

Well that, as Im sure was NOT uttered at the funeral of Dean Kamen, was a long segway! (Might have to google that slice of irony to fully appreciate that) Just a quick apology before I continue: I like to play it fast and loose with spelling and punctuation. Rest assured devoted daily mail reader, (no capital letter used there intetionally, as they dont deserve one.) I am educated but (just like Hunter S. Thompson?!) Im writing this in notepad, where rules and autocorrect dont apply! Dont spill your tea, we dont all have to conform. Can you read it? Yes?! Then rejoice in the fact that it ISNT written in txt spk! Stick with it, there is a fuzzy warm ending, ruined by a joke (spoiler alert.) I went to a regular school, since you didnt ask, stayed on for 6th form, as my foremost subject of media studies was catered for, and found my way to university many years later to top the class in sports coaching. I am now, and always have been, a croupier; naturally?! What's that and how does this help you, the dear reader, and now cohort, to become an acceptably functioning human? Calm down, Im getting there...

Having a talent for many small and unimportant things, but having no set goals or career aspirations is a problem that Im surprised more people dont struggle with. If they do, they keep it quiet or maybe sidestep the casino quicksand. Maybe some people do just wake up in the night with a eureka moment: YES, I want to be an estate agent! Either that or they are grown in batches somewhere. I never woke up in the night to realise anything as I was generally awake at night, by pr

Anyone living in conservative cultures (India, Sri Lanka) and dating multiple women at the same time? I need some advice on how to be honest about your intentions?

I'm a 26 year old from Sri Lanka working in the tech industry.

Most of my life I have been this shy, introverted and nerdy guy and only rarely got girls to be attracted to me.

Just some months back I was exposed to this community, read Models, and started on a self-improvement journey. Just the basics of what I did is

  1. Learned about fashion, grooming, hygiene.
  2. Started working out and stays in shape.
  3. Started becoming honest and unapologetic about my hobbies and interests. Such as reading, science fiction, cinema, cartoons, history etc. Before I tried to fake enjoying more extroverted hobbies thinking that would help me attract girls and my real hobbies are too nerdy.
  4. Also got some extroverted hobbies such as hiking and travelling which I started enjoying.
  5. Learned to develop a sense of humor unique to me and engaging more emotionally with girls than logically.

So, long story short I started DMing plenty of girls mostly from meme FB groups where westernized girls hang out. I steer away from traditional conservative girls who make up the bulk of this culture. Many DM's didn't get any replies. From ones that got, some lead to an awkward conversation that just leads nowhere. But some girls are fun and I enjoyed conversations with them. I only got a negative reaction only once where a girl called me disgusting for Dming her. I just blocked her and moved on.

So, I went out on coffee, bowling, jetski etc dates with several girls I met online and it was fun. But at this point in my life, I don't really want to get into a serious relationship just yet. I want to improve my skills in seduction and become more confident. That means dating multiple girls and being honest about my intentions to not lead them on where they think I'm interested in a serious monogamous relationship.

This is a bit harder in the culture I'm at right now. Casual sex definitely happens but it's done secretively. Slut shaming is widespread especially among religious people.

If there is an experienced person from a similar culture I would like to get some nuggets of advice please

Photography and the moving picture in the 60s

Hi all, Can anyone tell me about their own, or someone you know, experience of photography and cinema in Sri Lanka in the 60s? Did it take off like in other parts of the world? Was it seen as a profession? What were some of the opinions from the older/pre-war generation? And anything else that might be interesting. TIA

[EPILOGUE] Pax Indica

> ###The Indian Subcontinent in 2050

> A timeline of events in the Indian subcontinent between 2035 and 2050.

> ###The Great Indian War (2033-2038)

> Rise of DUSS and PRT

> Beginning in 2033 and lasting until mid-2038, the Great Indian War was, without a doubt, the bloodiest continental conflict since the Second World War, resulting in the deaths of over sixty seven million people including military casualties and civilian deaths and over two trillion dollars in terms of property damage and instrumental in completely changing the face of both Indian and Asian geopolitics forever. What began as ethnic and socioeconomic strife back in the 20s would spiral into a full-fledged continental war within ten years and while most scholars and historians regard 2033, the year of the declaration of independence of the southern Dravidian states, as the start of the Great Indian War, some argue that the war had begun as early as 2027 in the manner of ethnic and religious pogroms in India, especially targeted towards southern Indians and Muslims. Reaching a wide audience and acquiring great popular support for their separation from India, both the Dravidian Union of Socialist States and the People's Republic of Telangana were successful in keeping their territories under control despite heavy assaults and slowly chipped away at more and more territory; the city of Bengaluru, the tech capital of India, would fall to the DUSS in November 2035, a massive blow to an already deprecated morale in the Indian Army. The fall of the city also led to the Congress, already having been elected by a thin margin, to be voted out and replaced by the BJP although this time under Amit Shah, the assassinated former Prime Minister Modi's personal friend and ally. The civil strife in Maharashtra finally finds a voice in the newly rejuvenated Republican Marathi Congress (formerly the Republican Party of India), championing Marathi nationalism, secularism, anti-casteism, and laissez-faire capitalism with a focus on creating a welfare state. The party does not take up arms, however, and continues with its stance of non-violent resistance. Negotiations regarding increased autonomy with Delhi fail as the Indian economy completely collapses and inflation goes sky high, further cementing the idea of secession among all active groups and in states that had previously remained pro-Delhi as the odds of a re

Martin Scorsese's World Cinema Project No. 3

I've been getting really into the World Cinema Project films in the Criterion Collection lately, particularly the first box set, Black Girl, The Color of Pomegranates, and Memories of Underdevelopment, all of which were recent purchases. Looking into the World Cinema Project, I see that they have a lot of films that Criterion has not yet released. I'm going to get to see one of those, The Night of Counting the Years, in a theater on Saturday and if it's as good as it sounds I'd love to see it get a Criterion release. If you could put together a third box set of World Cinema Project movies, which six would you pick, and why would you pick them? For reference, here are your options (the last four are upcoming restorations):

After the Curfew (Indonesia, 1954)

Alyam, Alyam (Morocco, 1978)

The Boys from Fengkuei (Taiwan, 1983)

Chronicle of the Years of Fire (Algeria, 1975)

Downpour (Iran, 1971)

The Eloquent Peasant (Egypt, 1969)

Enamorada (Mexico, 1946)

El fantasma del convento (Mexico, 1934)

Forest of the Hanged (Romania, 1964)

Kalpana (India, 1948)

Lucia (Cuba, 1968)

Muna Moto (Cameroon, 1975)

The Night of Counting the Years (Egypt, 1969)

Los Olvidados (Mexico, 1950)

Pixote (Brazil, 1980)

Prisioneros de la tierra (Argentina, 1939)

Raid into Tibet (Nepal, 1966)

Soleil O (Mauritania, 1970)

The Treasure (Sri Lanka, 1970)

Two Girls on the Street (Hungary, 1939)

Two Monks (Mexico, 1934)

Woman with the Knife (Ivory Coast, 1969)

The Winds of the Aures (Algeria, 19670

Eight Deadly Shots (Finland, 1972)

Sambizanga (Angola, 1972)

Faces of Women (Ivory Coast, 1985)

All of the rest of their restorations are either in the two box sets or in individual releases (Black Girl, Borom Sarret, A Brighter Summer Day, The Cloud-Capped Star, The Color of Pomegranates, Manila in the Claws of Light, and Memories of Underdevelopment).

What are your opinions on Scope Charging over 1000 for a ticket and Charging absurd amount for snacks too? Same with One Galle Face charging 100 per hours?

This post was inspired by a fb post.

First of all I know that it is the business model for Cinema's to charge an insane amount for food. It is how they make profit but Scope Cinema is too expensive. 1100 for a ticket? Never mind 450 for a pop corn?

Their cost for that Popcorn would only be like 15 for the kernels and 5 for the box and they sell it for 450. It's insane, this isn't Canada or something. 350 would be fine but 450 is too much, same with the Ticket pricing. They do provide a good experience but I feel like everyone should enjoy these, not only the top 5%. They could still make a lot of money with cheap prices, Many Indian cinema which would put Scope cinema to shame charges less than Scope CCC. Everything doesn't have to be expensive to be good.

Secondly the parking charges at OGF, yeah it is definitely expensive, It doesn't have to be free but It could be cheaper. They should charge 100 for the first hour but they should then reduce it to 50 for the remaining ones. This way they won't get they won't get stupid people who is trying to park their vehicle for free without visiting the mall and Normal people can visit the mall too.

Not everyone is Rich as fuck. We don't have to act like we are showering in money. Sri Lanka is still Sri Lanka, just because some chinese company opened a mall doesn't mean it have to be pricey. These companies aren't even Sri Lankan Half of Colombo is owned by China. Imagine what would happen if they opened port city.

MGR- the man behind the legend. Part 1

Maruthur Gopala Ramachandran a man who by dint of extreme hard work elevated himself to a demigod. A Leader who died in 1987, but who still has shrines with his devotees praying to him to this day. A film actor whose real life persona influenced his roles and his roles influenced his real life persona so much that at some point they merged and the man and his avatar on the silver screen became the Ourobros, one ended where the other started. This is not some theory but he himself said it in a speech.

> It is not enough if you are a good man,โ€ he said, โ€œYou must also appear to be soโ€ฆ You put forward an image of yourself if you want to get anywhere.โ€

A vengeful man, corrupt to his bone, given to violent fits of jealousy cried his detractors. A man who exemplified generosity, a modern day Karna, a political genius who was unbeaten (except for one central election) from the day he took to the Kurukshetra of politics till the day he died and then from beyond his grave, influencing election verdicts to this very day. Who was this exemplar Tamilzhan that united Periyarites, Communists, DK faithfuls and most of all the common man or should I say woman and has had such a deep legacy on Tamil and Indian politics?

He was a Malyalee born in Sri Lanka and thus not even a Tamilzhan. In this tale I will try and take you through his life, his policies, his faults, his political Chankyaniti and hope you take away that much more understanding of this land called Tamil Nadu that seems so strange to people north of the Vindhyas.

MGR was born to Gopala Menon and Sathyabama in Kandy, Sri Lanka (Ceylon as it was then known). Gopala Menon was if apocryphal stories are to be believed, a very strict magistrate who fought for the rights of the underprivileged in British India. MGR in later interviews would say that he saw his father smack upper caste elites who were treating lower castes poorly with his umbrellaโ€ฆand from that was born the idea of MGR using his favourite onscreen weapon, the whip. It is said that (we donโ€™t have much documentary evidence of this phase of MGR or his fatherโ€™s life) on a case he had to hear against his own family members, Goapla Menon found his relative guilty and imposed a harsh punishment. This lead to his being ostracised and thus he along with his young wife and young son and daughter fled to Kandy, Sri Lanka. There he found a decent job as a English teacher in a college there and soon the kids followed. MGR first, born on 17th January 1917,

[Discussion] What was the โ€œDravidian movementโ€ all about? Was it something that emerged all of a sudden with the DMKโ€™s victory in 1967 TN elections - as an outcome of a mass outrage against โ€œNorth Indianโ€ hegemony and the imposition of Hindi? Read on

Muthuvel Karunanidhi, the Chief Minister of the southern state of Tamil Nadu for 5 separate terms between 1969 and 2011, passed away on Aug 7th at the age of 94.

He was the most major and consequential face of the โ€œDravidian movementโ€ since Annaduraiโ€™s death in 1969

A lot of obituaries will no doubt focus on his political career and his legacy. But in my view this is a good time to take a step back and better understand the โ€œideasโ€ and prejudices that Karunanidhi championed.

"Views" that predate him by decades and that he did not originate. While it is all very well to focus on people, a discussion of ideas and their place in history is always more useful.

What was the โ€œDravidian movementโ€ all about?

Was it something that emerged all of a sudden with the DMKโ€™s victory in 1967 TN elections - as an outcome of a mass outrage against โ€œNorth Indianโ€ hegemony and the imposition of Hindi?

Or do we go further back and place its origins in the late 19th / early 20th century with the Justice Party and the Self-respect movement - a political assertion of the โ€œnon brahminโ€ tamil people against the perceived Brahmin dominance in Tamil Nadu during the British Raj?

But these are proximate ways of thinking about political movements. Which are not satisfactory. Why Tamil Nadu?

The Brahmins were arguably even more โ€œdominantโ€ (as measured by literacy rates and occupancy of government jobs) in Mysore than in Madras. Yet there was no โ€œDravidian movementโ€ in Mysore / Karnataka.

The Brahmins were pretty โ€œdominantโ€ in Bombay Presidency as well, yet we didnโ€™t see a โ€œNon-Brahminโ€ maratha assertion in Maharashtra, until much later in the 20th century.

Why is it that this political movement rooted in

a. Tamil exceptionalism
b. Dislike of the Brahmin
c. Dislike of Northern cultural influences (Sanskrit, Hindi, โ€œBrahminicalโ€ Hinduism)

Emerged ONLY in TN and not in other southern states, or in other non-Hindi parts of India?

These are questions that havenโ€™t been asked enough by historians and discussed even less in media

This thread is a modest attempt to answer these qns, and examine briefly the political/social circumstances in Tamil Nadu over the past 1000 yrs, which help answer these questions

So letโ€™s first try to understand the Tamil country. A land that has been extremely well integrated with โ€œAryavrataโ€ for nearly 2000 years. In fact o

So I'm a massive Marvel fan (how bout that new Avengers trailer) but I'll be travelling in Sri Lanka when Avengers Endgame is released. It absolutely pains me to not be able to see the movie on release day with my friends as per tradition, but to avoid spoilers I think I might need to see the movie in Sri Lanka. The problem is, I'm not too sure of the cinema situation over there compared to here in Australia.

If my research is correct, Avengers Endgame is released on 26 April. I'll be in Columbo on 27 April, so I should be able to head to Scope Cinema to check it out, but I'm not sure of the vibe in the cinema. Can anyone tell me what I should expect from that movie-going experience? Will the movie be in English or be subtitled or dubbed for Sinhala or Tamil-speaking audiences? What's the quality of the screen/audio? Any advice will be much appreciated.

Seeing Endgame a week later in Sri Lanka

We should have seen it today. Endgame was due to premiere on Friday, 26th April here in Sri Lanka - same as the US.

This country has hundreds of Marvel fans who broke the online box office to get tickets for opening weekend. Perhaps thousands of Sri Lankans who were planning to watch an exceptional movie.

But last Sunday our country was subject to several horrific acts of violence that killed over 250 people and injured as many as five hundred. Terrorism that was indiscriminate and unexpected and which absolutely shocked this nation to its core.

No doubt, some of this weekend's moviegoers are no longer among the living.

Yet, as the dust settles and we try to come to terms with an unthinkable tragedy, my mind wanders to the fairer place, where we know for certain that there are good guys, and where the bad guys will always be beaten, whatever it takes.

In between a constant media barrage of destroyed churches, CCTV footage and endless funerals, I have escaped to a less evil place called the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I haven't been as much an MCU fan as I have become this week. After each movie, the pain comes back, but each time it's a bit less painful, and each time I'm a little more hopeful.

For a phenomenon that is widely known and enjoyed in the world, I'm sure at least one other Sri Lankan has turned to Iron Man, Captain America, Spider Man et al. to find some light in a very dark week.

And then we see that We have been blessed with real life heroes who encompass the human values espoused by Stan Lee.

We can't see Endgame today because the cinemas are closed. It's just too dangerous to have so many people in one place. It was inevitable; I don't anybody expected the show to go on right now, and most of us would have had to stay away. It was a fact of life in a country that changed in a matter of hours.

We've been rescheduled to next Friday. But only if nothing bad happens again before then. There will be thorough security checks - the type you find at airports.

But we need Endgame. It's the story of persistence in the face of incredible adversity, of unity despi

Lies, lies, lies...

Hi guys, I don't know how to start. Maybe firstly I should mention that English is not my native language. I'm 32 old guy, from Europe, I got married in 2017, we don't have kids, we live together for over 4 years. I thought that I know my wife like nobody else, but... like every married couple we had our small or bigger problems. We were arguing about different things, but not like as our most recent fight. Maybe I'll provide some background first. I'm working as IT guy, she is working in public institution. Some time ago I had rough time and after work I liked to chill playing on Xbox and drinking liquor. She got pissed/sad about it, so I got myself together i stopped drinking, but I was still playing games. As for her she wanted to travel everywhere, so during weekends we were going for trips to another cities/countries. For last year I don't remember if I spent a weekend at home. This year we already managed to visit 4 countries, but I also was able to stay at home for few weekends. The story begins here. Lately she started studying in another city and she had to travel there two times in a month. I wasn't travelling with her as I wanted to finally spend some time at our home, do some stuff that I was unable to do during the week or simply play games/have so time for myself.

One of Sunday mornings I was laying at bed, watching Family Guy on my wife's iPad and guess what I have seen? A message from a guy saying "Thank you for wonderful weekend". Quick research and I found out that she spent with that dude entire weekend, they stayed in the same apartment during the weekend, they went together to theater, exhibitions, dinners. I kept checking and she was seeing that guy for some time, even when she was spending a weekend with her parents she managed to see him for lunch. There were more meetings between them...

When I found out about it she was still in the other city where she was studying, so I waited for her to come back home. When she entered home I told her what I know, she started crying and bla bla bla. What I found out from her she have done it because I was not going out with her to Opera, theatre, cinema etc.

I'm not a guy who likes going to Cinema, I prefer Netflix. As for Opera and theatre I was going with her once a month, but she wanted to go there once or twice a week. If she wanted to go I was telling her to ask her friends if they can go with her. By friends I meant girlfriend's, not everyone who is on her Facebook friend list. She

Claims that Iran has worst brain drain in the world are nowhere near the truth.

Claims that Iran has worst brain drain in the world are nowhere near the truth.

Author: Nelson, Warren L.

Publication: Iran Times International (Washington, DC)

Date: Aug 20, 2010

The Iranian media are bemoaning Iran's fate as they report that the country suffers the worst brain drain in the entire world. Actually, that is not true.

Numerous news reports say that a study by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) shows that Iran has lost more of its college graduates to the so-called "brain drain" than any other country in the world. Even The New York Times picked that "fact" up from the Iranian media and reported it recently. The only problem is that this statistic is false.

The latest round of stories about the alleged IMF report are nothing but a rehash of stories that first appeared a decade ago. Oddly, the government has not denounced the false reporting about the IMF study.

In December 2001, the state news agency, state broadcasting, and several Tehran dailies all reported that a "recent" study published by the IMF reported that Iran suffered the worst lost of educated talent--the so-called brain drain--of any of 61 countries studied.

The IMF did indeed publish a report on the brain drain. But it was published 2 1/2 years previously in June 1999. More importantly, the report did not say Iran suffered the worst brain drain the world. The tables published in the report showed Iran ranked 11th among the 61 countries studied; it ranked 13th in terms of the brain drain to the United States.

The report was a very preliminary one in which the two authors said little data was available and urged countries to collect more useful information.

The report said the only good data then available was from the 1990 U.S. census, which asked if people were foreign-born and how much education they had. The researchers then coordinated those responses with the information provided by 61 developing countries on the number of people who received education beyond secondary school.

The report calculated that 14.7 percent of all Iranians who received more than a high school education had migrated to the United States. That placed Iran 13th, not first. Of the 12 countries with more college-educated people migrating to the United States, eight were from the Americas, three from Africa and one from the Pacific (Fiji). Iran was unique in being a large country with a large modern society.

Four countries--Guyana, Jamaica, Gambia and Trinidad--all showed well over half

Worldly Cinema: Spain

Hi all. So I really enjoyed the series of Yearly Cinema threads, and thought I would do one for films from countries across the globe. The World is full of fantastic cinema, from the deserts of the Middle East to the jungles of South America. I thought I'd get this started in order for redditors to introduce other redditors to films that aren't just limited to the US or other English speaking countries (Although we will get round to those eventually). I'll try to do this daily, starting with the A-countries and working down to the Z-countries. Hopefully at the end we can have a comprehensive, reddit-inspired list of the cinema of the World.

We also have a subreddit now over at /r/WorldlyCinema

I thought I'd get this started in order for redditors to introduce other redditors to films that aren't just limited to the US or other English speaking countries (Although we will get round to those eventually). I'll try to do this daily, starting with the A-countries and working down to the Z-countries. Hopefully at the end we can have a comprehensive, reddit-inspired list of the cinema of the World.

We also have a subreddit now over at /r/WorldlyCinema

Today we'll be doing Turkey.
