10 years ago, subscription networks like HBO, Showtime, Starz, Encore, AMC, etc all competed with each other on cable/dish television with their original content and on demand movie libraries. Then, Netflix became a place that consolidated TV shows and movies from all different networks and time periods, and so many of us cut cable. But now, with the original content being produced on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc., it is almost like we are back in the premium channel days where you need a subscription for all of them to see the shows you want!
EDIT: my unpopular opinion is that I WANT them all condensed back onto one single-pay platform option
I just find this amusing as hell
I was looking for a specific F:NV trailer and I tried to look for it on Bethesda Softworks' official YouTube channel only to find out there aren't any F:NV videos on there anymore. And I know it used to have, because I watched them there several times
Out of curiosity, I then checked the old, no longer in use Fallout's official YouTube channel which also used to have F:NV videos and they're also not there anymore
There are no longer F:NV videos available on official Bethesda channels. Just your curiosity of the day
EDIT: I thought this could have something to do with Obsidian now being owned by Microsoft, but that doesn't make sense, because F:NV is still a full Bethesda product, all of its rights still belong to them, Obsidian was just a contractor
My brother works professionally as a family counselor. I have been no contact with my family for 15 years. I left when my mom hit me, I called the cops, and my (physically, emotionally, sexually) abusive dad, and my brother told me I did the wrong thing.
I sometimes wonder how my family is, so I googled my brother, found his LinkedIn which had a link to his YouTube. It has videos ranging from topics like golden child, relationship red flags, daddy issues, etc.
He’s such a fucking hypocrite. I tried watching one video but couldn’t finish it when he started calling our father a good example. How fucking delusional are you? You watched that man beat your mother and push your brother down the stairs.
What a fucking piece of shit. I’m so glad I’m no contact.
I just feel sorry for any misleading information he imparts to his patients. Let this be a warning that not all counselors and therapists are good people. You might have to see a few for one that is right for you.

Being someone who’s fairly new to fitness and working out and dieting, I spend quite a bit of time watching Youtube videos about workouts. I also see a lot (and I do mean a LOT) of fitness personalities on Instagram. Once I visited the first few profiles, my search page basically shows a never ending stream of similar profiles.
It’s honestly hard to tell if what I’m being shown is actually valid, safe and worthwhile. Also, while some of the women I see have the type of physique that makes me wonder if they’re some kind of goddess...I also see plenty who simply look “thin” and I wonder if they’re actually working out all that much in reality, or just eating less or benefitting from a naturally small appetite or something.
So I thought it would be worthwhile to ask - in your experience and opinion, what are some popular channels and personalities that you avoid and what are your reasons for doing so?
Use this post to discuss whatever you want! Future dream casts, trying your stand up career, crying shenanigans about this season's robbed cinnamon bun... it all goes here. Just remember to be civil and keep opinions here and not in the speculation threads. Thank you!

I wasted a lot of my teen years watching the history channel taking everything in their programming as "facts". Only to grow up and understand that their "programming" is more often than not just a bunch of unproven conspiracies or dumbed-down pop science that is only meant to keep you glued to the TV. It's entertainment under the guise of history. And a lot of suit-and-tie men/women just spewing nonsense.
I saw a clear difference when I started picking up books and watching actual history lectures online. Those are boring, but at least won't make you look/sound dumb when you start having conversations about history with people.
If you're the type that really loves to learn, consider picking up a textbook and go from there. Trust me real history is already way more interesting than all that overacted cinematic crap that they try to sell us on these channels.

These channels have a very dated style of makeup where it feels like they are stuck in 2016 AKA the golden age of the makeup industry where everyone was in the head of BUY BUY BUY.
Like...barely any of these gurus changed and evolved with the trends. They always do the same makeup but in slightly different colors.
Makeup have become more lightweight and effortless and barely anyone does instagram makeup anymore. For me, this is not entertaining to watch. I gave up expecting different things from these people.
The only guru I can think of that has evolved is Desi. She used to do heavy makeup but now her techniques are more refined. She’s still does glam and colorful looks but its not the same as before.
I don’t have friends that are into makeup and beauty gurus so I dont have anyone to discuss this but I just wanted to let my opinions out somewhere lol

Hi. I'm your neighbour. I'm from Pakistan. Don't want any hostility just asking a question. As bad as we are to each other I'm extremely worried for India. You guys are now the 3rd worst country on the planet for this virus. I've read on Western news that cases are increasing by 50,000 per day and it keeps breaking records. What is going on???
I had a look at Indian news and I saw zero coverage. Like are people not worried? How is the social distancing and mask wearing over where you are? What is Modi doing?
The amount of parents that use their kids for views is mind boggling. I saw one video that had the parents getting mad at the kid for having a bad report and put that as the title. Kids shouldn’t be allowed in YouTube videos or have their own YouTube channel until at least age 12-14. The kid named RyansWorld is probably being forced by his parents to review toys and I highly doubt he has a say in what happens. It’s disgusting to use your own kids for views. Also, the hate kids receive if they have their own YouTube channel is bad too. A 7-8 year old wouldn’t be able to handle with a lot of hate and negativity.
This is nothing new, but I had to vent somewhere...
The Weather Channel is complete fear mongering garbage. They pretend to care about your safety, but then play highly suspenseful music during transitions, they have this creepy tape interference transition (it's like a video cutting out but quickly coming back) when they are changing scenes, call it #covidcane2020 and anytime they give you good news, they are quick to provide something equally bad or worse to erase that glimmer of hope. The Weather Channel is garbage.
The thing that irks me the most is that tape interference transition effect. Has anyone noticed that? I miss the old Weather Channel where they just provided updates and kept a calm tone. I like to watch old 'as it happened' videos on youtube and Jim Cantore and the crew back then are so much different than they are now, it's a joke. The Weather Channel is a joke.
Please stop giving them viewers, and instead watch Alan Sealls, Levi from Tropical Tidbits, listen to... keep reading on reddit ➡
The videos that appear on your Youtube homepage, or when you search for a topic, are almost entirely dominated by big Youtubers who have that 'mainstream' vibe which is sometimes off-putting "HEY WHATS GOING ON GUYS, SMASH THAT LIKE BUTTON"
Here's how to find new small Youtube channels to watch:
You'll be surprised how funny some of these small channels are.
If you’re interested in improving physical and mental health content then you can find that through my Reddit profile above :)
Two of my first subscribers were banned for awful behaviour very early on (of the "I gave you money and you're a woman so now I control what you do" nature). I think it would be good if Twitch allowed those founders badges to be passed down the row to the next two subscribers to honour the people in a community who truly were a part of the growth and facilitation of the community.
It would be nice to have this as an option, although I know there's possible issues (joke bans, people who are later unbanned). It's also probably not a huge issue for a lot of streamers, but I feel like there's cases where there are people far more deserving of those founder badges, and it would be nice to be able to make use of them.
Stefen Molyneux's YouTube channel, self-described as "The largest philosophy conversation the world has ever know" has been banned by YouTube during a purge that included David Duke and Richard Spencer. While Stefan has international infamy, he is also a Canadian, so news of the banning was posted to /r/OnGuardForThee, a more liberal/lefty breakaway sub from /r/Canada. Though the majority of users naturally celebrated the banning, a few users were not happy at all, and voiced this. Here's the highlights

After having both of his channels removed (FreeDawkins and VintageDawkins), FreeDawkins is back and will provide new content through his website.
So my brother and I are always fighting and this quarantine is making everything tenser. So the agreement we had before was that if you watch one movie I'll watch one movie. Same thing for shows.
So one day, I was just browsing the channels looking for something to watch. Then, my brother, annoyed that I still haven't chosen anything, decided to whine to my mother. He kept on saying that whenever I chose a channel, it was a turn. My mom, annoyed at his whining said 'Fine! New rule!' Ok then!
So the next day, I pretended to be asleep but I had a pen and a small notepad with my watch with me. I then waited for him to turn on the TV. I then took a list of all the 11 channels he browsed through. I then waited untill yesterday to put my plan into action.
With my compiled list of the 11 channels all with the date and time. I made microwave popcorn and got comfortable. After my first movie, my brother demanded that I give him the remote but I didn't. He then went to... keep reading on reddit ➡
