I never understood the hate for castanet on this subreddit. I tried using KelownaNow after reading so many "If you don't want to give crapstanet a view" replies, but the KelownaNow app is riddled with advertisements that break up the articles. It wasn't easy to see where a paragraph ended and where a new one started because of that. On Castanet, the ads are at the bottom, their info is easily understandable, and I only click on news I care about. I've been checking the app about thrice a week, and have done so since 2016. I get it that their design is outdated, but I prefer simplicity over ad riddled content.
I'm not linking it because I don't want to give it even more attention, but Castanet has a Vernon article where they felt the need to literally advertise for an anti-mask rally complete with email. I think this should be reported somewhere, is there anyplace to do this? I sent them an email stating how stupid that is.
The article discusses how food insecurity makes people anxious (i.e. people who do not reliably have enough food). Castanet somehow equates this to hoarders and linked a video from the spring with the couple who were buying up all the meat at one grocery store. The article also doesn't link to the report it references. What a joke.
