This is just a hand to hand battle. No weapons. To the death.
I own the three trade paperbacks collecting the first half of Cass’ series. Since it seems like the second half is not being collected, I bought the individual issues digitally. I have thoughts.
Dylan Horrocks wrote a good Cassandra and had good stories, but his Babs and Bruce were awful! Then again, 2003-04 was the height of Bat-dickery. I also enjoyed Cass’ brief relationship with Superboy, but the way it ended screams editorial interference.
Andersen Gabrych’s run was mostly awful. I hated that he gave her internal narration. He also made her too chatty. His run got a bit better towards the end but was never great. Still, his run was better than anything that has happened to Cass post-One Year Later to present.
I see now why DC stopped collecting it. It would be great if DC would launch a new Cass series set in the pre-Flashpoint timeline with a great creative team.
It's been practically a decade since Cassandra has worn the bat symbol, and for someone whose sole purpose is to protect life and find her place in the world after being raised as a weapon, I can't express how amazing it is to see her Batgirl costume again. Do you think both Cass and Steph will be allowed to continue operating as Batgirl?
I also poured my heart making a video discussing Cassandra Cain's journey back to the symbol if you're interested: https://youtu.be/A8KvhB29Qxg
The added invisibility was just insult to injury
Cassandra Cain is a character that many dread to face. With so many Evasion Ups, she is practically impossible to even hit, unless you have a Can't Miss character. With the right counters, Cassandra should not be a very hard character to take down
These are her Current Abilities
Death Wish (Cooldown 0): Damage to an enemy, +50% Damage if Invisible
Legendary: Apply Buff Immunity on target
Overview: This moves makes her handy against Buff-Heavy characters, and it can also deal quite a decent bit of Damage
The Falling Leaf Technique (Cooldown 2): Light Damage and apply Heal Immunity to an enemy. Gain Invisibility and 5 Evasion Ups
Legendary: Purge 3 Buffs on target
Overview: This is when she gets very annoying, as she will continue to gain more and more Evasion Ups
Bat Swarm (Cooldown 3): Damage to all enemies, apply 5 Bleeds on all enemies if Cassandra is Invisible
Legendary: Apply 20% down to 2 random enemies
Overview: Against Mystics, this AoE can deal lots of damage. The large number of Bleeds is an Insult to Injury
Shadow Recovery (Passive Ability): If Cassandra is Invisible at the start of every turn, gain 5 Evasion Ups and a 25% Heal
Legendary: Purge 3 Debuffs from self
Overview: I recommend choosing this Legendary Upgrade as it is her only was to purge debuffs on herself
Body Reading Ability (Passive Ability): When Cassandra evades an attack, use Death Wish on an enemy
Legendary: Start Battle with Invisibility
Overview: This is when she will punish your team. You better have a Can't Miss when facing her
Recommended Legendary Order: 5,1,4,2,3
All Evaders, especially Batgirl: Batgirl protects Cassandra from Crits when any of them Evades. Batgirl also counterattacks when enemies miss an attack
Bleeders, especially Siren and Talia Al Ghul: They will Bleed enemies and dodge their attacks
Arkkis: Her large number of Evasion Ups allows her to dodge Arkkis' infamous "Issue Challenge"
All characters without a Can't Miss: Same as above
All Can't Miss characters, especially Superboy: He can see through he Invisibility and his basic will never miss her. He also uses Special Damage, something which Cassandra is weaker in defending. He has an Affinity Advantage against Cassandra
Batman WGD: He can apply True Sight to his entire team, and his AoE can remove all of Cassandra's Evasion Ups (Use him only as a last resort as his attacks can miss)
Other Evaders,... keep reading on reddit ➡
I was thinking about hunting down this run since I love Cassandra, but I've never heard any opinions on it. I'd like to hear anyone's opinion of the series.
Do they need the Strength to do that or will their regular levels suffice ?
A straight up fist fight.
Both are some of the best hand to hand combatants in their universe and among the strongest.
Both could beat Batman as admitted by Batman himself.
Cap doesn't get his sheild.
These two women are in line to take up DC's most prestigious Mantle and Marvel's 3rd.
So between the two in a straight up fight, who wins?
R1: Gotham City
R3: The Colosseum
I don’t think it’s too far-fetched to consider the possibility of Cass being playable in the upcoming game, mostly due to her appearance in the BoP movie, and the fact that we haven’t seen her in the Arkham games yet. Plus they really need to do Lady Shiva justice after her (imo) awful depiction in Origins, and Cass would probably be the best way to do it. I hope I’m not the only one that wants to see her.
I’m trying to buy volume one of Batgirl, as I already have volume 2 (To The Death).
My issue is that I can’t seem to pin down exactly which version of volume 1 is the one I need.
I thought it was Silent Knight, so I put it on my list, but I’ve just seen a book called Silent Running that also says it is volume 1.
Is this different names for the same book? Or are they different?
Thanks for any help you can offer me.
So with Cassandra Cain, officially only acknowledged as Orphan in show, there is scant information. Given the comic relation, I'll be covering Lady Shiva to a degree here as well, cause most of my talking points about her for the show come from certain parallels and decisions made involving Lady Shiva.
Comic Version: A very popular member of the Batfamily, she fills a number of tropes common among DC and even Young Justice's cast. You've got an incredible badass martial artist/weapon user, trained as an assassin by their villain parents (or adoptive figure), who are also highly skilled assassins. The child has a streak of morality, so they turn to the lightside and join the heroes. In Cassandra's case, she's the daughter of Lady Shiva and David Cain, conceived to be an ultimate weapon, the One Who is All. Cassandra learns nothing except the arts of assassination; including speech.
Its a particularly well done example of the trope, her realisations that she can't continue the "evil life" come with a lot of emotion, and ends up being because of how she learnt to read emotion rather than learning to read. So made their bed in a sense. When she becomes a hero, she doesn't have the usual hero girl traits such as being played for svelte sex appeal, being romantic partners, being emotive and charismatic. She's covered in scars, continues to largely not speak, covers her face completely with her costume, and doesn't fall into being a love interest for whomever. Its a good change of pace, that likely helps to make her a fan favorite. There'd still be some sex appeal by the artists in costuming and such, but a lot less than her peers.
Setup: So unlike Spoiler and Arrowette, Orphan had no apparent appearances through Young Justice's previous seasons. However, the character trope of the daughter of two assassins, who herself was trained rigorously by them to be a weapon, is definitely present. Most notably in Artemis. The League of Shadows, via Sportsmaster are definitely in the habit of weaponizing their children.
Expectations: Cassandra's a fan favorite and has been desired since Season One. Most keep her story beats intact, despite the similarities (or parallels) to Artemis, and just want her wholecloth.
I'd personally be worried about being repetitive, but with Artemis we didn't see a lot of the training. We saw in Bereft that being put in a desert with an expectation of killing a superhero wasn't an unusual circumstance... keep reading on reddit ➡
She seems like an interesting character and I want to read more about her whether we batgirl or orphan
Title. Cassandra Cain is one of, if not THE best fighter in the batfamily, easily being able to defeat Bruce. This stems from her ability to read a person’s body language, anticipating enemy moves.
So my question is: why hasn’t Cassandra Cain taught the batfamily this technique? Wouldn’t it be beneficial?
Cassandra has been a nuisance for me. I'm looking for a couole of toons from each affinity that would be good counters against Cass. Thanks.
I've seen alot of art and panels that show Cass and Steph as Best Friends, which comic can you recommend that showcase this friendship.
I was going with 5 first for invisibility but now I have doubts
We all know that bruce has many children one biological (Damian)two or three adopted sons (Dick Jason and maybe Tim) and two emotionally adopted daughters (Barbara and Stephanie), my question is are Cass and Duke adopted, or are they wards or just emotionally adopted?
I want the answer to rebirth continuity<3.
EDIT: "and two emotionally adopted daughters (Barbara and Stephanie)" is a joke I know that he sees them as family just not as daughters. + I'm not sure if Tim is adopted or just his ward.
So I saw Birds of Prey today, and overall I loved it, but one thing confused the hell out of me. There's a character in the movie, a major character, named Cassandra Cain... who has literally nothing to do with the Cassandra Cain character from the comics. This isn't some new re-imagining like when Winter Soldier put Zola on a bunker screen or when Doomsday was Zod all along or whatever. It's just a character that happens to be named Cassandra Cain front and center who has basically as much in common with Cassandra Cain as she does with Doomsday and Zod. All the other characters, even the heavily modified Black Canary, are still recognizable as versions of themselves.
So was it SUPPOSED to be her and things gradually shifted in editing and they just kept the name? Did something go weirdly wrong?
And while I'm at it, let's throw out the question: Can you all think of other characters who were given the same name as a pre-known character but are just absolutely NOTHING like the original?
I mean, she never killed me a single toon, ever, every single time i see a cassandra team it always takes me 30 to 60 sec (to say something) to kill her entire team but THEN it takes me 5 minutes to kill her, shes not even close to kill anything but its really annoying the HUGE waste of time it takes because you can't hit her with so much evasion, it frustates me a lot a hero that does so little damage but unless you have owlman, terra or steppenwolf you have to wait and wait and wait so many turns untill the evasion fades away... and i don't know on what is based, but sometimes after her turn it refreshes all the evasion and sometimes not, not the same as for example Big Barda that she has so much endurace and regeneration that you have to drop out of the match because you dont have the right debuff to kill her and you have to concede, on this case you know you will win, she will not, but instead you have to wait a lot to finish the match.
Zod or Superboy?
Should I grind for her?
Damian Wayne etc. So much rich Bat lore that is being wasted. Now and going foward is the time to do something with it. The show could still be called Batwoman i suppose, but instead of relying on one lead character, it could be more of a Bat family show. Have big bat characters to fall back on, if an actor/actress chooses to leave. Still recast Kate Kane but make her one of the Batfamily members not just solo hero.
Add all the other minor characters from bat lore like Harper Row, Duke Thomas, Carrie Kelly..... All these characters can come in and go in different seasons, at different times.
February is almost here in DC Legends with Black Mask: The Crime King and Cassandra Cain: The One Who Is All! Reworked Huntress: The Zealous Crusader and Vixen: Avatar of the Animal Kingdom are now live in-game. Find out all about the month's events below.
BLACK MASK: THE CRIME KING
Black Mask: The Crime King is the login Hero for February!
Born from a wealthy family, he lost everything, including his sanity. Becoming what he hated the most: A mask wearing fiend.
CASSANDRA CAIN: THE ONE WHO IS ALL
Cassandra Cain, raised and trained by her father to be the perfect weapon, decided to take a different path than being an assassin.
Give Cassandra Cain a taunt, she is definitely gonna kill someone. I always pair her with Black Mask every time i'm going against a team with Black Adam or Wonder Girl.
I've realised that apart from DSHG, Owlman and Black Mask, I don't have a red character above L4. These 3 listed characters are all in L1. If there was to be a sale this week, I have just enough gems to turn any one of them L5.
Main Characters - Green - Arkiss, PG (SSSLex is L2) Blue - WG, Donna, BA, SW (Etrigan is L2) Red - DSHG
As I've just missed the sales of Big Barda and GA Castaway, I am looking forward to these 3.
Based on my available characters, which one should I buy?
