I was so into it when I was at the height of my ED because I thought it made me the perfect ideal body type. I then went on a binge spree in college and ended up overweight after a year but I kept all of them for when I become skinni again. Now I am back at a healthy weight for my height by intuitive eating and I think I look pretty good. I was cleaning my room because I am manic and bored and going through all my old stuff and I was horrified to find my collection of brandy melville clothes and they literally look like clothes for an 8 year old child. I am getting rid of all of them because I will never fit into them because they only fit me when I was extremely underweight and I never want to look like that again.

I feel like that brand exclusively caters to anorexics and literal children and I find that disgusting.

Literally nothing is original. On Vinted Brandy is basically a coverup for label-less fashion. It’s copy’s of thrift shop finds and copy’s of early friends episodes. Where did it come from? It’s so unoriginal that I thought it was a code word when I first started. Like are these thrifted pieces, like in the way Urban Outfitters sometimes has true vintage items or is it just knockoffs of trash we sent to goodwill in 2002? People don’t honestly believe it’s original right?

I have a brandy sweater and it’s cute enough but there is absolutely NOTHING special about it or any brandy I’ve ever seen

like if i get my hands on anything brandy i’ll wear it a ton because it makes me feel good about myself just because of that one size extra small thing... i don’t even support them as a company because of it but if i thrift a piece from them i become obsessed with it lol

I noticed Brandy Melville getting criticism because they don’t have larger sizes or strictly cater to smaller bodies.

I just find this hypocritical because of course brands are going to have target audiences and sometimes, you aren’t their target.

If you look at plus size specialty stores, they don’t sell the small sizes, because they specialize in bigger clothes. Well, in this case, Brandy specializes in smalls/ mediums. Their target audiences are smalls/mediums.

Although, I will say, no one deserves rude service. That seems like it’s more of a store by store problem but you could just shop online?

i offered this person who was interested in buying these lee shorts i was selling $18 + $4 shipping (which i feel like is an already good price considering the condition and quality) and they were like “15 with free shipping??” when all their listings are $30 brandy melville tank tops 😐

can we talk about how people that sell brandy Melville and Victoria secret stuff price gouge so much? yes, I too have put my prices higher on certain items but I’ve learned that just because it’s cute doesn’t mean it has to be marked up by a lot. Okay so like I know how Brandy Melville is like a trash brand, so like I bought a couple of items on depop. Like the logical part of my brain knows that it’s dumb to want to fit into Brandy, but I craved validation. The brand had this allure. When my skirts came in and I tried them on, they were LOOSE. I feel like the allure has been lost in a way. I’m feeling some hardcore imposter syndrome because I feel like it can’t be that exclusive of a brand if someone as big as me fits into it (let alone is too small for it). Like logically I must be small if I can fit into it, but when I look in the mirror I feel like I’m big. Ahhhhhhhhh

For anyone not familiar, Brendy Melville is a popular clothing brand which only carries one size of clothing - a size that usually equates to an xs/s, which they've faced massive criticism for over the years.

If the roles were reversed and they only sold large sizes of clothing, no one would say a word, because if they did they would be attacked as "fat-phobic" and "uninclusive" and "politically incorrect." Attacking a brand that only carries smaller sizes is just safer because smaller people are a more traditionally socially "accepted" group.

No shop "owes" it to anyone to carry their size. If the clothes don't fit, shop somewhere else. Brandy definitely has other issues, but the one size thing is not part of the problem.

If you’re a Brandy seller and do this, just please tell me why? I saw a couple of listings that show various Brandy clothing up for trades and that’s understandable. But what I don’t understand is when people post their whole Brandy Melville collection of clothing when nothing is up for sale or trade. What is the point and what does it do?

I’m sorry if that comes off as rude but the intentions are not. I just want to know what showing off all these clothes that you’re not actually profiting from does. I would love to hear it first hand from someone that does this. If anyone has any speculations, comment.
