The power of 12yrs of Brahmacharya or SR.

I was reading this book "The complete work of Swami Vivekananda", and found this talk between Swami Vivekananda and his disciple. Thought of sharing this with you all.

>Swamiji cooked certain dishes, one of which was prepared with vermicelli. When the disciple, who partook of it, asked Swamiji what it was, he replied, "It is a few English earthworms which I have brought dried from London." This created laughter among those present at the expense of the disciple. Despite his spare food and scanty sleep, Swamiji is very active. A few days ago, a new set of the Encyclopaedia Britannica had been bought for the Math. Seeing the new shining volumes, the disciple said to Swamiji, "It is almost impossible to read all these books in a single lifetime." He was unaware that Swamiji had already finished ten volumes and had begun the eleventh.
>
>Swamiji: What do you say? Ask me anything you like from these ten volumes, and I will answer you all.
>
>The disciple asked in wonder, "Have you read all these books?"
>
>Swamiji: Why should I ask you to question me otherwise?
>
>Being examined, Swamiji not only reproduced the sense, but at places the very language of the difficult topics selected from each volume. The disciple, astonished, put aside the books, saying, "This is not within human power!"
>
>Swamiji: Do you see, simply by the observance of strict Brahmacharya (continence) all learning can be mastered in a very short time — one has an unfailing memory of what one hears or knows but once. It is owing to this want of continence that everything is on the brink of ruin in our country.
>
>Disciple: Whatever you may say, sir, the manifestation of such superhuman power cannot be the result of mere Brahmacharya, something else there must be.
>
>Swamiji did not say anything in reply.

Gandhi's lessons, teachings and intuitive insights (decades of Brahmacharya, changed world history)

Previous post.

Gandhi was a believer in true masculinity, and despised cowardice in all forms.

He achieved almost everything he set out to do: he defeated the south-african government opression of Indians, he led non-violent marches that prevented the oppression of indian farmers by british landlords, he protested tax on starving peasants, causing the British to cancel all tax for that year and the next, he led the famous 24 day salt march against the British which gained him world-wide exposure, and through his Quit India movement, he successfully rallied the country, hundreds of millions of humans and made life impossible for the British. He secured India's independence as a nation. He did all this while facing multiple imprisonments, countless, violent beatings, sabotage and near death experiences.

In December 1935, Margaret Sanger, the American birth control activist and sex educator, visited Indian independence hero Mahatma Gandhi and had an absorbing conversation with him.

Sanger was on an 18-city trip to India, speaking with doctors and activists about birth control and the liberation of women.

Her fascinating exchange with Gandhi at his ashram in the western state of Maharashtra is part of a new biography of India's "father of the nation" by historian Ramachandra Guha. Drawing on never-before-seen sources from 60 different collections around the world, the 1,129-page book tells the dramatic story of the life of the world's most famous pacifist from the time he returned to India from South Africa in 1915, to his assassination in 1948.

The biography also provides a glimpse into Gandhi's views on women's rights, sex and celibacy.

In his ashram, Gandhi's efficient secretary, Mahadev Desai, took copious notes of the meeting between the leader and the activist.

"Both seem to be agreed that women should be emancipated, that a woman should be the arbiter of her destiny," he wrote.

But differences quickly arose between the two.

Mrs Sanger, who had opened the first US family planning centre in New York in 1916, believed that contraceptives were the safest route to emancipation.

Gandhi demurred, saying women should resist their husbands, while men should try to curb "animal passion". He told his visitor that sex

Question and personal doubts regarding the path of Brahmacharya

Hello everyone, I heard that when and if you are following the path of Brahmacharya, you have to stop the relationship with your family. Is it rigidly like this?

First of all I want to give you some context about myself. Since I was a children, I suffered a lot for the pain of other people and beings in all the world. At some point I felt so much pain because every person in the world it was like my family, like myself. Inside me I would struggle for them like if I lost a dear person or like if was being tortured. I wouldn't care for me anymore, I was only desperate for the other beings. This doesn't mean I wasn't selfish and egoic but I can see how this deep pain shaped me since I was very young. It also inspired me. And in the end it contributed to open me up in a way that my life completely changed. It was like if I met the Truth, I was no more. It took away almost all the pain from me. A pain that lived with me for about all my life. I was left with so much gratitude. It changed me but I would still struggle with my ignorance after a while. With this experience I came to understand and see that my true and deep desire is that I want to realize what is called enlightment. Whatever is the right way to say that, I can see that I'm guided to It. Life will bring me there. Not even my death can oppose this beauty. Not even my ignorance. This feeling makes me cry because I was so desperate before. Maybe I can't explain it properly but I want to realize it while I'm alive because it is my wish and also because I feel that this is the best way that I have to truly help the others. Like Sadhguru and many other fantastic beings do.

My family was great to me. Of course it would be sad for me to stop interacting with them but the real reason that I'm expressing my doubts and difficulties about that particular decision (abandoning the relationship with my family), is that while I'm alive I wouldn't want to give to my mother, my sister and brother the pain to live without me anymore (they would make a joke about this being better for them xD). Everyone in my family knows about my deep desires, I don't study and I don't work. Many times we joked about me leaving home and telling goodbye to them. But while sometimes there was a desire inside me to leave everything without any thought about the future, I've always known that when or if I was away and far from home, I was free to leave a message to my family maybe once every month. Maybe with a letter, a video call or

What happens if I have sex during Brahmacharya and break my celibacy vow?

I am a man of Indian descent who was born and raised in the United States. When I was 12 years old, my parents forced me to do the Upanayana or Janeu ceremony. I do not understand Sanskrit at all, so I had no idea what the words I said during the ceremony even meant. I just said what the man conducting the ceremony told me to say without understanding what I was promising. After the ceremony, my father told me that I took a vow of celibacy. I did not know that I vowed to not have sex! My parents forced me to make a promise I did not know I was making. That is no fair! I consider myself to be a moderately religious person. I do pooja almost every day. Right now, I am 19 years old and I still have never had sex before. I really want to have sex with a woman. What happens if I break my celibacy vow and have sex? Can I still go to Heaven or Swarga? Will I lose my status as a Brahmin? Is there any way I can have my sins cleared?

The meaning and significance of Brahmacharya

The actual meaning of Brahmacharya is ‘Brahma’ God, ‘charya’ to walk with. That is the actual meaning of Brahamcharya. Somehow, it has been misconstrued as celibacy. It is not actually only celibacy.

Brahmacharya is a way of life with God, it is walking with God, being in union with God. And it is significant because if you are in an intimate relationship with somebody on earth, then it is very difficult to be in a relationship with God. A Brahmacharya, one who is in union with God, may have a relationship, not just with one person but even more on earth. But those relationships are not earthly, they are Divine. Those are soul relationships. But in today’s world, this concept is grossly misunderstood.

Broadly speaking, Brahmacharya is being united with the Divine and it is very significant because that is the way to Liberation or Moksha.

PRACTICE OF BRAHMACHARYA Key Takeaways

This book was pretty interesting and I would highly recommend reading it yourself book pdf Some things I learned from this book

If you entertain lustful thoughts and actions you will fail. Looking at pictures of women and thinking about women in a sexual way, looking at softcover porn (basically Instagram) , etc will cause you to fail. Lustful thoughts will lead only to lustful action- relapse. To defeat lust you must be constantly vigilant; it can come at you at any moment. Lust is very powerful so don’t try to repress your lust or else it will only come back even stronger. Instead start meditating and it will pass. Focus on your breath. Other methods of combating lust in a productive way include changing your mindset. Make yourself realize that all women are mothers of men, see them as your mom and sisters, see them as they will be when they are old and decrepit, see that this thing you’re attracted to called a body is just a collection of skin, puss, blood, and bones. You will fail at seeing this many times, but keep trying and you will eventually succeed. Eliminating lust is NOT EASY.

It is also recommended that you avoid women when possible. Unnecessary temptation, especially in the beginning is for fools. Never be alone with a woman if possible, and if you desire to joke around with and be in the company of women then that is only really lust. I think this is true because when do you want to be with a woman if is not sexual? (obviously family doesn’t count guys; I shouldn’t need to say this but I will)

Fasting is extremely beneficial to retention (Brachmarya). Why? If you can control your tongue you can easily control your other organs and senses. Start out small, with intermittent fasting, work up to a day, and then try several days. Not eating at least one day a week is recommended.

The entire society we live in is against you retaining and unlocking your potential. You guys already probably know this. Everyone is only dedicated to their animal senses and desires. To obtain real joy you must break away from these desires.

Sex should only be for reproduction. Use of it for pleasure will degrade your spiritual and moral integrity. It will also weaken you as it is an expenditure of energy.

If you do not have a purpose, a life mission, a reason to retain, you will most likely fail. Being idle will cause you to fail. It is easiest to succeed when you are working

great blurb from "Practice of Brahmacharya"

>Have you ever paused and considered what constitutes women who excite lust in you? A bundle of bones, flesh, blood, urine, faecal matter, pus, perspiration, phlegm and other dirt! Will you allow such a bundle to become the master of your thoughts? Will you exchange your birthright of eternal peace and happiness for such a fleeting, filthy mess of pottage? Shame on you! Were your will, your reason and your discrimination given to you only for such an inglorious end? Have you not heard and seen that physical beauty is only skin-deep and at the mercy of every passing accident, illness and year?
>
>Minus skin, minus dress, minus ornaments, woman is nothing. Just imagine for a moment that her skin is removed. You will have to stand by her side with a long stick to drive away crows and vultures. Physical beauty is superficial, illusory and fading. It is skin-deep. Do not be deluded by external appearances. It is the jugglery of Maya. Go to the source, Atman, the beauty of beauties, the everlasting beauty.

Brahmacharya In Krishna Consciousness

Retention of semen is so essential in progressive human life that it is simply astounding how the whole endeavor of modern civilization is based on discharging it as much as possible. Semen retained in the body goes upwards to nourish the brain, rendering the body robust and the memory and intellect sharp. Determination, optimism, confidence, will-power, fixed intelligence, noble character, photographic memory, and shining good health are all fruits of conserved semen. It is said that the four Kumaras were unwilling to adopt materialistic activities because they were highly elevated due to their semens’ flowing upwards (urdhva-retasah). (SB 3.12.4)

-

Scientists have analyzed semen to be amazingly rich in hormones, proteins, vitamins, minerals, ions, enzymes, trace elements, and other vital substances. By nature’s arrangement, this substance, when mixed with the ovum, is sufficient for the procreation of a new body. By nature’s arrangement also, if it is not used for procreation but is kept within, it nourishes the body and brain in a way impossible for any tonic or dietary aid to emulate. The current craze for vitamin and mineral supplements is an attempt to make up for self-imposed deficiencies. Most people don’t know that they are passing out their very life energy with that essential bodily fluid. If semen is lost, all bodily and sensory functions are weakened. Repeated loss of semen spoils the determination and clear, sattvika intelligence necessary for spiritual understanding. However, if semen is retained in the body, there develops what Ayurveda refers to as ojas, a vital fluid that gives strength, luster, enhanced mental abilities and immunity to diseases, and slows the aging process.

-

Scientists cannot prove or disprove this, but it is observable in the brightness of yogis and the dullness of those who regularly “spill their brains out.” Retention of semen, then, is ultimately meant for the evolution of the human being to higher levels of spiritual consciousness. Simply by retaining semen in the body, one develops a tendency towards greatness.

-

On the other hand, those who are addicted to discharging semen become petty and bestially lusty. The disastrous fruits of their promiscuity await them. They will be forced to devolve into lower species of life. Even in this life, excessive seminal loss can lead to physical and mental weakness. As the body ages, vitality and the will to get things done ebb away, and perpetual tiredness sets in. T

Anyone want to debate what brahmacharya stands for ?

Brahmacharya is given importance in every religion . Celibacy is the sin o que of all spiritual development . Why is it so ? It basic tenent in hinduism is to avoid all kind of sexual emjoyment the 8 breaks of brahmacharya are described as such - ( didnt find the 8th one anyone in comments )

  1. Darshan or looking at women with passionate resolve, 2. Sparshan or touching them,
  2. Keli or play,
  3. Kirtan or praising the qualities of the other sex, 4. Guhya-Bhashan or talking in private,
  4. Sankalpa or determination,
  5. Adhyavasaya or nearing the other sex with the desire for gratification and
  6. Kriyanivritti or the actual sexual act.

the opposite is also for women where they also follow brhamacharya

Its always sold to us with benefit , powers and such and such . the most importsnt point i think is self knowledge.

Vedic explanation - Vedas declare that we are the atman and not the body . So Gender is irrelevant . Atman is said to be genderless . Gender is a duality . But the nature of sexual desire was made so strong for the continuation of species so it considered the hardest desire to understand .

the actual purpose for sex is to have children having sex for the purpose of having children is not considered breaking of brahmacharya .

Yogic Philosophy also goes down the same path .

Anyone wanna debate ?

Just a suggestion to anyone in this group. I suggest everyone read the words of brahmacharya by Swami Sivananda and Swami Vivekananda. I believe these two explain the practice the best. As well as Nithayanda's videos on celibacy, for those are also quite potent to the seeker.

Brahmacharya is not nofap/SR. It’s much more than that.

Nofap= abstaining from masturbation.

Semen Retention= abstaining from ejaculation.

Brahmacharya= control of lust and celibacy.

Brahmacharya literally means path of the ultimate/divine. What separates this practice from the others is that if you are not combatting lust with al 5 senses, you are not practicing Brahmacharya. The key is not allowing lustful thoughts to stay in the mind longer than necessary.

We must have:

Chaste eyes, a Brahmachari doesnt look at women sexually.

Chaste ears, a true Brahmachari will not get aroused by what they hear.

Chaste hands, we do not touch anyone with sexual intent.

Chaste tongue, we do not speak in a vulgar way about the opposite sex (we should be controlling our words as yogis, cussing lowers our vibration and makes our words less powerful)

We must control our lust in mind, deed, and speech. When we think lustfully, we are using our energy and sending it back down the spine to the base chakra, which can cause a blockage of the chakra flow. This often results in ejaculation.

In order to combat lust, Swami Vivekananda has suggested that we should look at older women as our mothers, same aged women as our sisters, and younger women as our daughters in order to combat lustful thinking. We must try to find similarities and appreciate the feminine energy within these women, not sexualize it.

The less lustful thoughts we think, the more we meditate and pray and practice yoga, the closer we grow to the divine. This happens when we transmute sexual energy into Ojas, which semen transforms into when not wasted. Ojas travel up the spine to the brain and throughout the body to nourish them both with over 200 amino acids and proteins present in semen.

Ojas provide one with more confidence, strength (physical, mental, and spiritual strength) clarity, success, respect from others, and many more benefits. If you cultivate these Ojas, there is nothing you cannot accomplish.

Brahmacharya is the single most powerful tool a man can use to achieve success in this life and become a conscious creator of their reality.

I hope this helps to shed some light on the practice of Brahmacharya. Namaste brothers.

Anyone else here following Brahmacharya/Nofap?

So I'm 17 and I noticed that porn was starting to have a somewhat negative effect on my mental state. I just kept thinking about it all the time even though I only watched like once every day or two. At around the same time I saw a bunch of youtube videos from channels like Captain Sinbad and IamLucid about their experiences with staying away from porn.

As of today I am on the 95th day of nofap + noporn and I noticed a lot of effects in the first couple of weeks of doing so, and lately I have been starting to feel similar effects again. I feel more energetic, seem to be sticking to scheduled exercise, and it was much easier for me to write college essays than it was before.

I don't really want to stick to the bhramacharya thing forever, maybe until I'm 18,19 but definitely going to stay away from porn.

Brahmacharya: Not The Final Goal

Most of the people who are practicing celibacy or Brahmacharya have a wrong belief system behind the intention of following it or making it a lifestyle. The natural human tendency is to be naturally celibate and not indulge in any sort of momentary pleasure but indulging in sexual activities only at the time of reproduction.

But, many of the people have a sense of false gratification that practicing Brahmacharya is the goal, but actually, it is one of the main things or pre-requisite in order to "Realise the SELF".

So, I propose that practicing Brahmacharya is already you're doing good to your body, but it is important to understand the hidden context behind it. So, it is better to use that Ojas Shakti that we develop into the body with Brahmacharya for your spiritual growth and realize Brahman.

Seeing some Brahmacharya texts of "semen loss" symptoms-pale face, bad memory, etc. it seems as those who wrote the texts experienced POIS and thought's its due to semen loss and universal result of orgasm for any human, thus developing idea of semen loss being bad.

This is a hypothesis I've been thinking of.

Quotes on Brahmacharya from the purports to Srimad Bhagawatam by Srila Prabhupadaji (Krishna Consciousness)

SB stands for 'Srimad Bhagawatam', the topmost vedic scripture.

SB 4.8.1 Purport : "The system of brahmacarya has been current since the birth of Brahmā. A section of the population, especially male, did not marry at all. Instead of allowing their semen to be driven downwards, they used to lift the semen up to the brain. They are called ūrdhva-retasaḥ, those who lift up. Semen is so important that if, by the yogic process, one can lift the semen up to the brain, he can perform wonderful work—one’s memory is enabled to act very swiftly, and the duration of life is increased. Yogīs can thus perform all kinds of austerity with steadiness and be elevated to the highest perfectional stage, even to the spiritual world. Vivid examples of brahmacārīs who accepted this principle of life are the four sages Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanātana and Sanat-kumāra, as well as Nārada and others." - https://prabhupadabooks.com/sb/4/8/1

SB 4.11.5 Puport : "An important word in this verse is ūrdhva-retasaḥ, which means brahmacārīs who have never discharged semen. Celibacy is so important that even though one does not undergo any austerities, penances or ritualistic ceremonies prescribed in the Vedas, if one simply keeps himself a pure brahmacārī, not discharging his semen, the result is that after death he goes to the Satyaloka. Generally, sex life is the cause of all miseries in the material world. In the Vedic civilization sex life is restricted in various ways. Out of the whole population of the social structure, only the gṛhasthas are allowed restricted sex life. All others refrain from sex. The people of this age especially do not know the value of not discharging semen. As such, they are variously entangled with material qualities and suffer an existence of struggle only." - https://prabhupadabooks.com/sb/4/11/5

SB 5.1.26 Puport : "The word ūrdhva-retasaḥ in this verse is very significant. Ūrdhva-retaḥ refers to one who can control sex life and who instead of wasting semen by discharging it, can use this most important substance accumulated in the body to enrich the brain. One who can completely control sex life is able to work wonderfully with his brain, especially in remembering. Thus students who simply hear Vedic instructions once from their teacher could remember them verbatim without needing to read books, which therefore did not exist in former times." - https://prabhupadabooks.com/sb/5/1/26

61 days of ब्रह्मचर्य (Brahmacharya)

So I've completed today 61days of immaculate semen retention with no night falls. There are certain changes I've observed in me.

  1. More social. I am without a speck of doubt more interactive and confident in my conversations now. Many of my friends have started to share their secrets with me. I easily become centre of attention in many group interactions which was rarely a case earlier. I surprisingly don't shoot as many PJs as I earlier did. And social interactions have become natural for me, it is not an effort or chore for me anymore. I've observed that there is no hesitation within me in approaching or interacting with any one be it kids, elders or my superiors.

  2. More attractive This is quite counterproductive but true. I've observed more people look at me, talk to me and obviously flirt with me. I am homosexual, and I've observed both women and men have shown more interest in me in these two months long streak than they had when I was not into my sadhana. Airport, college, malls wherever whenever and absolutely random and unexpected people have done it. And for a Celibate it is dangerous. It is like Satan testing your devotion.

  3. Deeper voice and a little better immune system and hair growth is true. I am not sure about claims of better muscle mass or skin. Although i would agree about more energy and creativity without a doubt.

  4. Your spiritual practice genuinely becomes better. Be it Buddhist mindfulness, Hindu Yoga or Jungian process of individuation or whatever. You suddenly start perceiving a reality within you which was hitherto hidden, hitherto unseen...

  5. Better memory and you gradually start to remember your dreams.

  6. Peace and tranquility, and nothing can ever go wrong attitude has blossomed within me.

  7. Life becomes a gift of God, and this gratitude wells up every day in my heart.

  8. Sexual thoughts start decreasing, and become less overwhelming.

  9. Your body literally starts speaking to you. You will get to know gradually the symptoms which your body was trying to tell you of ailments which you hitherto ignored.

  10. Lesser sleep. Better sleep.

  11. You start feeling that God is there, like an experiential entity not merely an article of faith. (Which in my case God never was).

  12. you inadvertently do lucid dreaming.

  13. You feel like you are charged with your 6 year old self's energy, passion and curiosity for life. It's a very gay and beautiful feeling. Like a lotus of life has blossomed again.

A Brilliant Exerpt from Sri Swami’s “Practice of Brahmacharya”

“There is another important angle to this matter of Brahmacharya. And that pertains to your aim and ambition in life. What is it that you want out of life? What great desire dominates your life? Is there something that is a consuming hunger in you? Do you want to become the highest musical genius in this world? Or do you want to become the fastest Olympic runner or weightlifter in this world? No matter what your ambition is, if there is some one overwhelming or all-consuming hunger in you, then all other problems recede into the background. They do not present a great difficulty. But, if you do not have such an overwhelming ambition in one direction, then everything becomes a problem and sex also becomes a problem.

Therefore, the right way of solving this problem of sex is to rise above it so that it becomes something not important. You have to rise above sex—not wrestle with it, but rise above it. Because, if you do not have an overall concentrated urge or ambition in life, then the clamour of these little senses (read: lust/sexual gratification) becomes a great din in your life. Your life will always be under that clamour.

But, if you have got an overwhelming urge for something else, then this clamour does not reach you at all, because you are too busy engaging your entire attention in some other direction. So, the right way of solving this situation of sex is to rise above it, by developing great love for God, great love for an ideal, developing passion for a pure life, a moral life, an ethical life, an ideal life”

Brahmacharya

Brahmacharya = celibacy; Pratishtayam = established; Viarya = vigour; Iabhaha = gained.
"On being established in celibacy vigour is gained."

What is Brahmacharya and who is a Brahmachari? - Yoga Sutras of Patanjali

The ancient rishis divided life into four parts. The first twenty years of your life, you focus on acquiring knowledge. This is called Brahmacharya. The essence of brahmacharya is that you should not run after pleasure. One who runs after pleasure cannot acquire knowledge.

The literal meaning of Brahmacharya is celibacy. Celibacy brings you strength, lots of strength. The Brahmacharya Yoga way of life is more than just celibacy. ‘Brahma’ means infinity, ‘charya’ means moving in infinity, Knowing your vast nature. Thinking that you are not just the body, your presence is a glow of light. You move in the world as though you are space. This is when celibacy naturally happens.

When you are sitting in meditation you realize you are not just the body. You feel light as a feather. The more joyful you are, the more you are in tandem with the infinite consciousness, the lesser do you feel the tension or the physical weight of the body.

That is Brahmacharya Yoga, not getting caught up in the senses but taking refuge in the self that is your very nature. It is coming back to your nature.

A person who is small minded is always succumbing to the cravings on the bodily level. He tries to find satisfaction through stimulation of the senses and takes up bad habits. The heat gets into his head. And when your head is hot, your vision and perception are blurred.

Sex is a part of life, but an obsession with sex is something that hinders spiritual progress. Such a person’s energy is low; they create a thick and dull vibration around them that nobody likes. This weakens the mind and there is no vigor or commitment in life.

“Brahmacharya pratishtayam veryalabaha”. Great strength comes when you are in Brahmacharya. Creativity dawns. A true Brahmachari will not indulge in sensual pleasures like sex or taste, smell. He sees himself as more than the body, as the consciousness, Brahaman. Once Brahmacharya is firmly established in you, you become vast and powerful.

Perfect Brahmacharya Requires Use of Body, Heart and Intellect

https://gnosticteachings.org/scriptures/hindu/214-ayurveda-virya-the-vital-fluid.html

There are three divisions in each Dhatu. Semen nourishes the physical body, heart and intellect. That man who uses the physical body, heart and intellect, only can have perfect Brahmacharya. A Pahalwan or wrestler who uses his physical body only but keeps the intellect and heart undeveloped cannot expect to have full Brahmacharya. He can have Brahmacharya of the body only but not of the mind and the heart. The semen that belongs to the heart and mind will certainly flow out. If an aspirant does only Japa and meditation, if he does not develop the heart and if he does not practise physical exercise, he will have only mental Brahmacharya. That portion of the semen which goes to nourish the heart and body will flow out. But an advanced Yogi who dives deep in meditation will have full Brahmacharya even if he does not take physical exercise.

Some benefits from the articles I posted on Brahmacharya a while back.

Very good resource on religion, self improvement, philosophy, and of course, Semen Retention/Brahmacharya - https://www.reddit.com/r/Semenretention/comments/b9qx5o/a_krishna_consciousness_perspective_on_semen/

Please read the articles to find out more. Semen exists in not only the gross form in the genitals but also in a subtle form throughout the whole body. When we think sexual thoughts that semen flows downwards and is converted into the gross form. But when we abstain from sexual thoughts and sexual activities the semen is transformed into Ojas which is a spiritual vital energy which gives us great benefits in all parts of life.

Physical Benefits -

  • Longer lifespan.

  • Stronger immune system, less diseases.

  • Greater physical strength. A person in the same weight class but with less Ojas will lose to you in every physical competition.

  • Brighter and more lustrous eyes, skin, face, body. Tejas around the body (healthy glow). Darker and thicker hair.

  • More masculine energy and traits.

  • Greater physical stamina. Can churn out immense physical work in a short amount of time.

Mental benefits -

  • Stronger determination, willpower.

  • Amazing photographic memory. Amazing auditory memory (can repeat things heard once perfectly after years. Part of why the vedas are so perfectly well-preserved).

  • Fixed intelligence, concentration.

  • Lots of mental stamina. Can churn out immense mental work in a short amount of time.

  • Noble character.

  • Natural inclination towards spirituality.

A special nerve (medha nadi) grows in the brain of one who has followed Brahmacharya perfectly for 12 unbroken years. It gives one the physical and mental faculties required for God realization. What people take many lives to realize, a perfect brahmachari of 12 years can realize very quickly. I don't consider female attraction to be a benefit as increased female attention means many lustful females trying to leech your energy and drain you of subtle semen and (I don't know if this is possible) Ojas directly. They will do all kinds of really unfair things and break the rules of society to gain your attention and engage you in pointless conversations thus wasting your time (other tricks - https://www.reddit.com/r/Semenretention/comments/bc3yom ). Beware of females. Read the comments on women in the link I posted in the beginning to know their true nature. Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions. Subtle semen is also lost due to non ejaculatory sexual activit

New to practice of Brahmacharya.

Hello fellow truth seekers.

I've started on this journey like most people through movement that is known as NoFap.
My progression went from scientific approach to more esoteric / mystical and i've started diving deep into Semen Retention.
While researching i stumbled upon Meditation, and i ended up practicing Mindfulness Meditation daily.
My question is, is Mindfulness enough? There's numerous instances of people saying you must do your Sadhanas to control the anger that is being collected through the practice of Brahmacharya.
Also is Mindfulness Meditation even Meditation in "esoteric" sense?
Is it enough as to count as sadhana?
Any help would highly be appreciated.

Thank you

A Krishna Consciousness guide to Brahmacharya.

WARNING 1 : This post is critical of women's behaviour. But it does not point fingers at all women, as many are genuinely nice and trustworthy. Only the one who fit the patterns of behaviour this post criticizes. This is not a misogynist, but please apply your common sense and see that a Brahmachari must be cautious around women, and about associating with women. It is with this principle in mind that all the comments about women are included in the guide.

WARNING 2 : This is years of reading in total if you include the books too. Do not feel lost or demotivated, the instructions on how to use this material are there at the bottom. You will be progressing spiritually and materially every step of the way so it is not a path which will give you the benefits only after you have completed it. You will receive benefits every moment you use this information or read more about it. The religion will strengthen you against Maya's attacks, against sexual desire, and against lust and all bad qualities. It will make it very easy to conquer the urge for acquiring sexual pleasure or for gaining female attention.

Introduction : This guide will help you achieve perfect Brahmacharya/Celibacy/Semen Retention/Nofap-hardmode.

The big conspiracy, one which is most often overlooked in our hypersexualized society, is the power and importance of semen and how essential it is to preserve this vital fluid. There are many benefits of preserving semen, some of which I have listed in the linked post. Our whole society is based around ejaculating as much of it as possible, and the means of shepherding that along such as the heavy promotion of porn, masturbation, and the rigmarole of get educated, get a job, and then 'settle down' as soon as possible by getting married have been instituted in modern society at every level.

We are indoctrinated to worship sex and those without a sex life are outcast and treated in contempt in many countries (especially the western ones). They are called 'losers', suspicion is cast on their character (creep, pervert, closet homosexual etc.) and woman are put on a pedestal and their promiscuous and degraded activities are encouraged. Who is doing this I am not sure about, but I am sure about their motives - keep men from realizing their true potential and transcending their material desires and especially the disease of lust and sexual desire, and achieving power and drive to change their lives for the better.

Please preserve this vital fluid. Once lo

Brahmacharya OR Meditation, Exercise, Yoga, etc.

Hi SR gang,

I've often seen Brahmacharya come up in regards to sexual transmutation. It seems like an intimidating topic that I don't fully understand.

What I'm curious about is whether there is something to it that I can instill in my daily practices that wouldn't already be accomplished by simply meditating daily, practicing gratitude, exercising daily, yoga in general, etc.

It seems like Brahmacharya has its own set of rules? But I'm not sure — is there a particular part of it that I SHOULD be practicing?

Without any sort of needless dogma attached to it.

Is there some sort of actual transformation that takes place as a result of my posture, breathing, or uttering a mantra? Because even though mantras can be helpful, I'm not really seeing how speaking words will augment my abstinence from ejaculation.

Hoping somebody can give me the basic rundown of it.

Thanks!

The Struggle of Brahmacharya

Spoiler alert: This article mentions Trump. ((For a reason)

Sometimes it's hard to say what practices are healthy or not. The Allure of retaining one's semen for power, and experiencing the physiological effects of it, can lead someone on a never-ending Chase seeking truth.

In retrospect, whether or not one is more powerful I believe is dependent upon their purpose in life. When we are in survival situations, I can see the need for semen retention, as it helps exalt one above the mediocre.

It is not necessary for common life

Nofap experience tend to prolong their celibacy Cycles, hoping to achieve worldly goals. The problem is that longing for worldly goals tends to elicit a need for worldliness. Thus, a brahmacharya isn't best suited for worldliness.

Studying, working, Leisure Time, relationships, and mid-level challenges are all possible living a normal life. When One resorts to brahmacharya, they exalt themselves above the common herd.

It can be a very painful, and lonely existence. It can be in existence deprived of any Joy or sensation of life. Because brahmacharya is the act of going against sensation. Therefore, he who seeks Sensation will be sorely disappointed.

Whether or not energy regulation is needed as a brahmacharya is dependent upon one's meditation practice. As time goes on, it becomes ever increasingly difficult to redirect the energy. The energy of the need of reproduction. Or the need of physical Sensation from the opposite sex. Some have been trained better than others to undertake this task

It may halt worldly progress because in its nature, brahmacharya can be a stagnation. For the purpose of living in the internal. All otherworldly sinsations become torturous Temptations.

brahmacharya is not a part of this world, usually tends to walk alone. It is by his very nature and his energy that sometimes can he trap himself in his own world. We have seen the Geniuses of the past who have dwelt in their own world for the sake of some type of purpose or exaltation.

Whether or not someone chooses to live this life is dependent upon the individual. As once the energy becomes greater, it can only be channeled in certain Avenues. Take for instance, Tesla who became more introverted on his path to accomplishing magnificent feats.

Gandhi was not a brahmacharya at first, he was a married man who lived the householder lifestyle and had lusts for his wife, he also was extrovert in his Pursuits and life working with many people. How he beca

Regulating Ejaculation Frequency -different Taoist schools of Thought ----->(Radically different from Indian systems of Buddhism and Hindu Brahmacharya)

Note: I am more keen about following 12 year semen retention without ever touching a woman, which stems basically from pre-Buddhist Upanishad of Chandogya......the only other pre-Buddhist Upanishad Brihadaryanaka talks more about semen retention while sexing...it also advises what a man should do, lest he accidentally ejaculates within a woman while performing semen retentive sex...Nevertheless Ancient India was the only ancient civilization other than Ancient China to discover the value of semen retention (Tantra came much later in AD times)....basically as also the sidebar denotes we have basically only these two civilizations to look upto when it comes to comprehensive data regarding semen retention...there may have been some off-the-cuff comments by philosophers of Ancient Greece regarding semen retention but nothing substantial and meaty.....though I personally am more into the 12 year Indian style, I feel the voices of those who are into semen retentive sex are being stifled here...So this is my way of making it up, even though I am the "12 year celibacy" fundamentalist

Very interesting: It talks about sexual exhaustion and empty batteries too. It says that total abstinence is very bad for health over long term, energy must be cultivated and circulated. There is more info in the web page.

“All schools of Taoism agree that retention of semen and proper regulation of its emission are indispensable skills for male adepts of the way.

In their writings, the adepts of ancient China each left us their own personal guidelines for determining emission frequency.

By combining their various suggestions with your own individual requirements and practical experience, you may readily determine an emission schedule that suits your personal needs.

Let’s start with some plain talk from our old friend and sexual mentor, the Plain Girl. Confused by the concepts of ‘sparing vital essence’ and ‘regulating leakage’, the Yellow Emperor addressed his doubts to the Plain Girl and got this reply:

Some men are strong, some are weak, some men are old and others are in their prime. Each should live according to his own vitality and not try to force the joys of sex. Forcing joy is harmful.

Thus a robust male of 20 may ejaculate twice daily, but an emaciated one should do so no more than once daily.

A 30-year-old male may ejaculate once a day

Brahmacharya

"Brahmacharya pratishtayam viaryalabhaha'' (II Sutra 38)

Some benefits of Brahmacharya (Celibacy in thought, word, and deed). Brahmacharya takes a human being (especially a man) to incredible heights; a religious guide to it is linked at the end.

Can churn out immense mental work in a short time.

Also, the production of both gross and subtle semen stops completely in the body after 12 years of perfect Brahmacharya which makes accidental ejaculations through wet dreams or other people's pranic manipulations impossible. One becomes extremely powerful in this state.

Subtle semen is also lost due to non ejaculatory sexual activities like karezza and tantric sex and other trash things. Remember, semen lost is semen not available to be converted to Ojas, and less Ojas means lesser (or none) of these benefits, in degree too. Ojas is basically a kind of vital energy or prana in the body supporting healthy life. To obtain huge amounts of it, give up all sexual activity in thought, word, and deed for 12 years.

NOTE : Consuming intoxicants like drugs, cigarettes, tea, coffee directly destroys the Ojas stored in the brain.
