In your opinion, what defines African American SF(more commonly known as Afrofuturism)? What differentiates this genre from Science Fiction and African American literature? How does AfAm SciFi react to the lived experiences of African Americans in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries? is there really a difference between the AASF, scifi, and African-American lit? Or is AASF just SciFi written by African-American writers. Feel free to sound off below!

As part of a secret Santa - i was given a wishlist of either
- book or book gift card
- plants or plant gift card
- tea.
I dont know the person incredibly well, so I knew I had to get a gift card ... which just seems so impersonal and transactional to me.
So I had the idea to make a book safe, and inside would be a gift card for plants and a sampler of tea : ticking all boxes.
But my flatmate was horrified when she saw that I had desecrated a book.
Is this a common opinion amongst book lovers?
FYI The book was second hand from an op shop, and is an old classic (wuthering heights), so there are thousands of other copies (i would feel bad to destroy a rare or unknown book )
Penguin Australia just released an interactive map of bookshops in Melbourne open for online and phone orders!!
I for one am fucking sick to death of re-reading all my old books, and will be ordering a #phat #stack to get me through the rest of shitty fucking lockdown.
If you want to be a total sweetheart, you can also surprise a mate and order them a book as a random gift to occupy their brains.
