##Pashinyan about establishing trade link between AM-AZ-RU-IR

Yesterday, Pashinyan's press secretary said the negotiations over the establishment of trade routes can be effective only after they resolve the issues around POWs and missing soldiers. Today Pashinyan presented the top-priorities:

  1. Full implementation of Point-8 of the November 10 statement. All POWs and bodies must be swapped. It is also important for us to carry out extensive search operations on battlefields.

  2. Unblocking of all economic and transport routes in the region. Armenia should have a passenger and trade route to Russia and Iran, and Azerbaijan should have one to Nakhijevan.

Once again, there is no "Meghri Corridor" in the November 10th statement [Armenia does not cede any southern lands]. The communication routes from Armenia to Russia and from Azerbaijan to Nakhichevan is a separate topic of discussion, the effectiveness of which relies on resolving the issue with captives, hostages, and searches.

##Vazgen Manukyan wants to meet MFA, NSS, and Army command

Opposition's PM candidate Vazgen Manukyan wants to meet MFA Ayvazyan and other officials ahead of Pashinyan's January 11th meeting with Aliyev in Moscow. Manukyan wants to discuss various issues, wants transparency, and expects the aforementioned agencies to prevent any possible anti-Armenian decisions shall they be made during the meeting.

##POWs, families, & search operations

Search crews discovered 6 bodies in the Hadrut region. They were identified instantly with the documents in their pockets. So far the crews have discovered 1194 bodies since the ceasefire. The searches continue in Hadrut, Jabrayil, and Askeran regions.

In other news, a group of parents gathered in front of a military facility to prevent the army from taking their sons to military service in Artsakh, unless they can provide safety assurances.

The parents were unsure as to why the army continues to send soldiers to Artsakh, despite the November 10th statement saying that Armenian troops must withdraw from Artsakh. (hmm?)

Hi Reddit, Jonathan Karl here today to talk about my bestselling book, [FRONT ROW AT THE TRUMP SHOW] (https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/611343/front-row-at-the-trump-show-by-jonathan-karl/), out now in paperback, including a new Afterword with shocking new reporting on the heartbreaking events of 2020. I have reported from the White House during the administrations of four presidents and thirteen press secretaries and covered every major beat in Washington, including Capitol Hill, the Pentagon, and the State Department, and I have known Donald Trump for more than 25 years. My book, which has been hailed by Bill Press as a “must read” and as “a book historians will relish” by Peggy Noonan at WSJ, delivers new reporting, surprising insights, and behind-the-scenes moments that defined Trump’s presidency. Lobbying Good Faith Journalists to Expose the Manipulation

THANK YOU FOR THE AWARDS! IT HELPS PROMOTE THE POST AND INSPIRE THIS APE!

Any Journalism or Legal Writing Apes that feel compelled to lend a hand please DM me!

Hello Apes -

I know that in the past, we've discussed briefly contacting media personalities to combat the narrative of the (bought) Main Stream Media. I think this is an important angle we should explore.

When I woke up, I read through the new DD and the posts from u/heyitspixel & u/rensole about the troll/shill campaign that seems to be threatening their lives. At the very least, this is fucking with their heads, and I cannot stand by and let this happen without considering using the power we have in numbers to combat this fuckery.

I propose this. I've done some research on who might be best to contact regarding this whole situation. They all have Twitter, and they all can be influenced publicly with a Twitter storm of messages.

Here are some candidates that I believe are good targets (with some copy pasta profiles):

William D. His book about the near collapse of AIG, “Fatal Risk,” was long-listed for the 2011 Financial Times and McKinsey Business Book of the Year. A former staffer of Fortune, as well as the New York Post, The New York Sun and Institutional Investor News, Boyd founded and edited The Financial Investigator blog. In addition to having taught investigative reporting at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he regularly leads seminars at Investigative Reporters & Editors conferences on financial statement analysis and fraud detection. His work has prompted numerous regulatory, civil and criminal actions.

##Covid relief package

The Senate parliamentarian ruled on Thursday that the federal minimum wage cannot be increased through the budget reconciliation process, dealing a blow to Democrats’ hope of including the provision in the Covid-10 relief package. Due to Republican opposition, there is no way to pass a standalone bill to raise the minimum wage. The reconciliation process allows legislation to pass with a simple 51-vote majority, avoiding filibuster attempts. In order to move forward with the increase as part of the relief bill, the parliamentarian will either have to be overruled or removed.

Who is the parliamentarian? Elizabeth MacDonough previously worked as a lawyer before joining the office of the Senate Parliamentarian in 1999. She was appointed to Parliamentarian in 2012 by then-Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and retained by Mitch McConnell when he became majority leader in 2015. Members of both parties have praised her ability and past rulings.

The ruling: Budget reconciliation is meant for legislation that changes spending, revenues, and the federal debt limit. The Byrd rule allows senators to block provisions of reconciliation bills that are “extraneous” to the budget - in other words, provisions that don’t change the level of spending or revenues. The parliamentarian ruled that the minimum wage increase violates the Byr

##Armenology projects by Austrian expert Jasmine Dum-Tragut / horses / Artsakh dialects / west-east cultural exchange

Education Ministry report: in 2019 we increased funding for the promotion of the Armenian language and Armenology abroad. Projects were launched in new countries and schools, including one with the University of Salzburg.

The director of Salzburg's Center for the Study of the Christian East department Dr. Jasmine Dum-Tragut initiated two important research projects related to the Armenian cultural heritage.

One is a 6-month-long project about the Armenian language in Artsakh. It'll study the history of the Armenian language in Artsakh, its changes in a multilingual society, its history of becoming the official language, Artsakh dialects, etc. It's being financed by Salzburg.

The second project will last 4 years and is titled "Horse's body as a meeting place: Cultural exchanges and transfer of knowledge between the Christian West and the Muslim East in late medieval Armenian horsebooks [ձիագրքեր]". It will have a €1m budget. They will cooperate with Matenadaran, Yerevan State University, Frankfurt University, Vienna Veterinary University, etc.

This second program is based on a lost medieval Armenian manuscript about healing horses, the existence of which is known only from the memoir of another manuscript. There is also another Armenian medical manuscript of the 6th century, which was revealed in 2008 and will be used during the studies.

This is an uncharted territory that can help shed light on the exchange of information between the Christian West and the Muslim East. How Armenians received information about healing horses and their future contribution to the field will be analyzed in detail for the first time.

Relevant Armenian manuscripts translated into Arabic and Georgian will be examined for the first time. These manuscripts were written in Cilicia in 1298 before being taken to Sebastia (1504), Tbilisi (1791), Isfahan (19th century), and finally Yerevan (2008). [how about NFT on blockchain???]

This project will unite an unprecedented group of scientists. Jasmine Dum-Tragut has formed her team consisted of linguists, historians, manuscript experts, and veterinarians.

##resolved: Boeing jet was hijacked by a rogue hired crew / returns to Armenia after interstate operation

Earlier we learned that the pilots, without authorization, flew a jet registered in Armenia to Iran instead of Ukraine.

Fly Armenia Airways provides details: We leased Boeing 737-300 from a European company. It was receiving maintenance in Estonia. It was supposed to fly to Ukraine between February 12-22 to continue the maintenance.

Armenian Civil Aviation authorized the Estonia-Ukraine flight. The crew was instructed to do so. However, due to the COVID pandemic, the Armenian pilots' Shengen visa was delayed, so our partner offered a new pilot crew [presumably Tajik nationals as stated elsewhere earlier].

On February 20, we learned that the jet did not arrive in Ukraine. We contacted Estonia and learned that it flew in a different direction. The crew falsified documents and flew to Bulgaria instead of Ukraine.

Then we learned that it flew from Bulgaria to UAE. We contacted Armenian Civil Aviation and the authorities to inform them about the incident. We also contacted European air officials at Eurocontrol.

We contacted UAE and asked authorities to take the jet under their control upon its landing. However, UAE told us the jet never landed there.

We searched for the jet in neighboring countries and learned that the jet asked for an emergency landing in Iran. We contacted Armenian authorities and asked them to ensure the jet is secured in Iran.

On February 28, the Civil Aviation and our pilots visited Iran to investigate the story and to bring back the jet. After tremendous efforts, we were able to transport it to Armenia on April 23.

Your 13-minute Friday report in 3180 words.

##former CoGS Onik Gasparyan also wants a Truth Commission for war

The former army commander sent a letter to Parliament urging the creation of a commission to investigate the war events amid a "rising wave of conspiracy theories, misinformation, irresponsible behavior by public officials", etc.

Opposition LHK proposed such commission earlier. Pashinyan recently said he supports the idea. LHK leader Marukyan today said if the commission is lead by LHK, he will hold a fair investigation without aiming to arrest anyone in particular.

Months earlier the ruling party said a truth commission would be created when the political tensions subside down, to have a "fair" investigation.

https://factor.am/360061.html

##interview with Security Council chief: Onik Gasparyan's "4th day warning", Serj Sargsyan's Constitutional amendment shenanigans about wartime commander-in-chief, ashkharazor army

Read this for context. The Security Council published the Council meeting records, which reportedly contradicts Gasparyan's claims about the need to urgently stop the war "within 3 days."

Reporter: why haven't you published the records sooner to dispute Onik's claims? Why wait for so long?

Council chief Grigoryan: First, remember the internal situation in Armenia on November 17 when Onik published his letter. We didn't think it was an urgent matter to respond to him at the time. We believed that truth would eventually come out.

Second, there was a small technical issue regarding legal proceedings. Publishing the records sooner would require Onik's involvement because he was the CoGS at the time.

Onik's November 17 statement was mostly misinformation. He attempted to alter the past events. For example, he said that in June, days after being appointed as CoGS, he submitted an assessment report about the military-political situation in the region. The fact is, he submitted no reports at June 18 Security Council meeting.

We published that session's records, too. There were two reporters in that session. His wasn't one of them.

What Onik talks about was actually part of his 10-page report on August 21, but again he is distorting the reality. You will not find a single word about "taking diplomatic steps" in that report.

Reporter: did Onik report that Turkey would support Azerbaijan in the event of war?

Today is Presidents' Day in the United States. In honor of that, I've compiled a list of biographies for all 45 former U.S. Presidents!

I made this list last year, but I've updated it with some new works and added Donald Trump to the list. On this President's Day I want to give people a chance learn about all the good, bad, and forgettable Presidents.

I should note, that these recommendations are my opinion and If you think you know of a better biography for a President, say so!

Enjoy!

1 George Washington (1732-1799) President from 1789-1797

There are few figures in American history stand as tall as the country's first President. George Washington helped lead America during the Revolutionary War, helped create and lead a new nation, and became a celebrity in his own time. One of his most important legacies was the two-term tradition that followed him after he voluntarily stepped down. The capitol of the nation, the $1 bill, the Washington monument, and a U.S. state all bear his name. Bestowed with an almost Olympian stature for centuries, more recent authors have strived to uncover the true Washington from beneath centuries of propaganda and legend to reveal the entire complex scope of his life.

Washington: A Life by Ron Chernow - Authored by the master behind Alexander Hamilton, Chernow's biography is an joy to read and a great starting place for those with an interest in the Washington.

Washington: The Indispensable Man by James Thomas Flexner - This single volume work on Washington is the condensed version of the massive, 2,000 page, four-volume tome by Flexner that won a National Book Award and Special Pulitzer Prize. Flexner combines elegant writing with fantastic research to paint a full picture of the First President.

2 John Adams(1735-1826) President from 1797-1801

The first Vice President and first President to lose a re-election, the legacy of Adams is sometimes overshadowed by the titanic stature of his predecessor and successor. On the contrary, I think Adams is among the most interesting Presidents. The man possessed a fiery, explosive temper, a hatred for slavery (of the first 12 Presidents, only Adams and his son John Quincy Adams never owned slaves), and played a crucial role in the Revolution and the creation of America.

John Adams by David McCullough - McCullough's Pulitzer Prize winning biography is incredibly accessible and there is a reason is incredibly popular. It ranks among my favorite biographies of anyone, period. It reads like a novel and covers Adams' entire tumultuous career and his amazing 90-yea

##March 1st: general prosecutor files counter-petition with Constitutional Court / "gaps in law allow perps to get away while violating victims' rights"

Today the General Prosecutor Davtyan announced that he filed a petition with the Constitutional Court.

He argues that the way some parts of Constitutional and legal code are written, do not allow prosecutors to change the charges against the defendant while at the same time requiring the court to drop charges in the event a law is struck down, thus violating the victims' rights and allowing perpetrators to get away, despite there being a crime, evidence, and victims.

##March 1st trial resumes / prosecutors want to change charges / everyone is sanctioned / "the judge will be sued"

Kocharyan & Co's March 1st trial resumed today. The defense wants the judge to drop charges ASAP over the latest Constitutional Court ruling that struck down Article 300.1. The court has to hear the prosecutors' side too, however. The latter will make their case today.

The judge decided to sanction (warning) the defense and prosecutors for inappropriate behavior during the last two sessions.

The prosecutor announced that the General Prosecutor has contacted the Constitutional Court with a challenge. The judge asked the prosecutor to share the details with the defense.

The court took a break. Defendants Khachaturov and Ohanyan, and their lawyers, decided not to return from the break. They complain that the judge hasn't yet dropped the charges.

Meanwhile, one of the March 1st murder victims' brother became his legal successor to take part in the trial.

Prosecutor made his case. He wants the judge to lift the sanctions against the defendants and to suspend the trial so prosecutors can change the charges against Kocharyan & Co from Article 300.1 (which no longer exists) to Article 309.3. The latter is about the abuse of power by officials, punishable between 6-10 years. (slightly less severe than 300.1)

The prosecutor explains the decision with the following legal jargon which I cannot translate: "Քրեական օրենսգրքում հանցակազմեր կան նախատեսված, որոնք ընդհանուր և հատուկ են, մեկը մյուսի մեջ կլանում են, երբ հատուկ նորմն իր մեջ կլանում է ընդհանուր նորմը: Երբ կա հատուկ նորմ, արարքը չես կարող որակել ընդհանուր նորմով, երբ կա հատուկ հանցակազմ, չես կարող

Fallen Pastors

EDIT: I have expanded the list and added all of your wonderful additions! Keep 'em coming!!

In light of the Ravi Zacharias scandal further coming to light, proving that he was nothing but a rapist and a farce, I decided it would be interesting to just name all of the pastors and Christian leaders I could think of that have had scandals. I sincerely believe these types of positions are platforms must be set up in a way that attract and perpetuate narcissists and serial abusers. It's so sad. Keep in mind that this list is by no means comprehensive, and these are only the prominent names standing to reason that there are likely thousands more happening at smaller churches and ministries. I, myself, know at least 10 other pastors and ministry leaders I could have included on this list, but their churches are not famous and they are not published authors with famous podcasts. Please feel free to add onto the list. Something clearly isn't working and must change!!

  1. Mark Driscoll: Founder of Acts 29 church planting network that stole hundreds of thousands of dollars to hire an illicit service that bought his way onto the NYT Bestsellers list, continually verbally abused his staff including but not limited to telling a campus pastor "If you don't fucking fix this, I will shit down your throat" when a service was running over alotted time, said that women are "penis-homes" and created for men's sexual pleasure, said that anti-depressants were "the pussification of the American church," freely said the word f*gg*t from the pulpit, got caught plagiarizing several passages in his books, was generally an overall asshole, and oh so much more. Right as the elders were going to administer church discipline to Driscoll, he resigned, hopped one state over from Washington to Arizona and planted a different church. Now ousted from the calvinist, reformed community he had built his brand upon, Driscoll rebranded himself by attending egalitarian conferences and writing books and palling around in free will circles. Apparently Driscoll holds no actual convictions as long as he still has a stage and a platform. He’s also really into telling women they should give their husbands blow jobs, and even said once from the pulpit that it’s wrong for women to deprive their husbands of BJs because they are biblical. When Ted Haggard was brought down by a gay sex scandal, Driscoll blamed Haggard's wife for "letting herself go." Driscoll was forced to resign in 2014 after the plag

Jennifer L Armentrout and Jenny Trout - an interesting story that disappeared

Disclaimer: I'm a longtime reader of author Jenny Trout's blog, so I'm sympathetic to her POV in general, but I otherwise have no personal feelings about Jennifer L Armentrout (JLA) having never read her books.

I was browsing the 2020 Goodreads Choice Winners again this morning, and seeing JLA's book as the Romance winner, I was reminded of a since-deleted blog post from Jenny Trout where, prompted by a post from another author, she spoke on an issue that had arguably tanked her career. The post that triggered hers, called "Coincidences" by Sarah Christian, is a pretty tight recap of what appears to be the crux of the problem, so it's worth reading in full, but the main point is this:

Before writing under the name Jenny Trout, previously in 2006 she published a bestselling vampire series under her legal name of Jennifer Armintrout. She didn't use her middle name, which for the record, was Lynne, making her name Jennifer Lynne Armintrout. Five years later, Jennifer L. Armentrout published her debut vampire novel. These were two different authors, but as expected, people immediately confused them, and within a short span of time, as Sarah Christian puts it, " [JLA] very soon eclipsed Jennifer Armintrout’s very existence in the minds of the world. People would call Armintrout to congratulate her for Armentrout’s success. Fans would gush to Armintrout about her latest book, but they’d bought Armentrout’s instead." Some time afterward, Jennifer Armintrout legally changed her name to Jenny Trout.

Christian goes on to elaborate in an addendum that she does genealogy for a living and, given her work with adoptees seeking their blood parents, she has particular expertise in tracing people's backgrounds using publicly available data and otherwise limited information provided by her clients. She was able to quickly and easily verify that Jenny Trout's birthname was Jennifer Lynne Armintrout, but was not able to do the same for Jennifer L Armentrout; nor was she able to find any records of a person with JLA's rough biographical details having ever married an Armentrout. In short, in her own words, "I know that Jenny Trout was born on July 15, 1980, in Michigan, as Jennifer Lynne Armintrout. I do not have si

Mar/26/2021: (1) March 1st: Constitutional Court strikes down Article 300.1. Prosecutors waiting for full verdict. Kocharyan could face other charges (2) $207M infrastructure & housing for Artsakh (3) Ongoing projects: unified transport in Armenia, energy sector, roads, etc. (4) other news

Your 11-minute Friday report in 2707 words.

##March 1st: Constitutional Court strikes down Article 300.1 of Criminal Code

A major victory for Robert Kocharyan and his fellow March 1st co-defendants. The Court found that the law is invalid. "Beginning in 2009 the Article 300.1 has been invalid," said the defense lawyer.

That's the law about "usurping power" that the former regime amended back in 2009. At the time, the Venice Commission didn't find a problem with the amendment. It's unclear what has changed since then.

Kocharyan's lawyer said the prosecutors will have to drop the 300.1 charges after today's verdict.

March 1st murder victims' lawyer Seda Safaryan says she plans to take the case to the European court, saying "the Constitutional Court went outside the law to respect Kocharyan's rights while ignoring the rights of March 1st victims." She said the felony trial shouldn't be suspended because 300.1 wasn't the only law that Kocharyan is accused of violating. "There are charges related to criminal cooperation. This felony case has 85 volumes."

A legal expert says it's too early to predict what will happen next without reading the full verdict. The nature of the charges could be changed or entirely dropped. One of the judges wrote an opinion piece regarding the verdict; details will be available later.

The prosecutors said they will make an announcement after receiving the full verdict text. The defendants are also facing bribery charges which are unrelated to the Constitutional Court verdict.
