This is a story from 2015 back when I was a meat manager. I was recently reminded of this incident while explaining a similar topic to a fellow customer. As any person in a retail position knows, the crazies come out near the holidays. Those customers that can't be reasoned with no matter how much proof you show them. This is one of those stories.
A bit of info: In my own time I'll cut up wild game, deer, Elk, fish in echange for a share of meat. So I have a few game wardens on speeddial to make sure the kills and tags are legal. Pertinent to the story.
Around Christmas of 2015 I was preparing prime roast orders for the holidays as I basically had the past few days, when my meat clerk said a customer was looking for a form of caviar that he hadn't heard of before. I went out to see what help I could offer.
EM: (Tall, Blonde, 40ish, Karen cut shoulder length hair, 2 children) (Rude from the start) Oh good, perhaps YOU can help me!? This employee has NO idea what he is doing.
OP: yes miss, what type of Caviar are you looking to order?
EM: I'm looking for Beluga (Sturgeon) Caviar from the Caspian Sea. I bought it here a few years ago and it was amazing. I haven't been able to find it anywhere.
OP: Ma'am I'm sorry, you must be mistaken. We have never carried Beluga Caviar. Last I heard Beluga Caviar has been banned in the USA since 2005. (There was a hybrid farm certified in FL 2016)
EK1: (Full volume) MOM LOOK AT THE FISH!! (Now sticking his fingers against the glass case)
EM: shhh. Can't you see I'm talking...? (Back to her full volume) That's impossible! I picked it up here a few years back for $100. You cant Bullshit me!
OP: Ma'am please keep your voice down and refrain from using harsh language, this is a family friendly store. Ma'am, when Beluga Caviar was last sold in 2005 it was at $400-$600 /ounce. Once again we have never sold Beluga caviar. Perhaps it was a different sturgeon caviar. We have some that are at the $100 price range.
EM: I don't Ducking believe this bullshit! I know what I bought! My husband is on the city council and I'm going to tell him about this and get you shut down!!
Op: At this point I walked away to call security. She had left when I had gotten back. I didn't think much of it afterwards, just another crazy customer.
A few weeks later the same karen came back but this time to gloat..
EM: I came to show you that we WERE able to get it! The price was ridiculous but we have photos showing it is the real deal..

... keep reading on reddit β‘First of all, here's my current build: https://s.orbis.zone/bhly
It's not really engineered fully yet but I'm getting there.
The first thing you might notice is that, unlike many other exploration ships, I bring everything I want to. A size 6 fighter hangar (40t), a size 6 luxury cabin (40t), a vehicle hangar, and 4 beam lasers all made it on board. The reason I can afford this is because the beluga is so fucking massive that it takes about 40 tons of extra stuff on board to bring the jump range down 1 light year. My jump range is currently 49 ly, it would be about 52 fully stripped down.
Anybody who explores will tell you that 50 ly is plenty for exploration. Other ships can jump further, sure, but none can do it without big compromises. (at least without a lot of engineering, anyway)
The fighter hangar and the turrets allow my multi-crew friends to have fun canyon racing on the cool random planets I find.
The passenger cabin is debatably necessary, and I'll take it off if I'm not using it. However, I think it's a lot of fun to take the long-haul passenger missions on board. These passengers are usually scientists, and they aren't whiny or annoying like other passenger types can be. And, in addition, they give me a great excuse to head out into the black; the tourist beacons they travel to contain some beautiful sights that give me something to look forward to.
With a wealthy luxury passenger on board, I feel like a space yacht captain sailing through the great expanse. Role-play stuff isn't important to everybody but I enjoy it.
Now, if you aren't convinced already, here are some other things that make the beluga great:
-Surprisingly great supercruise handling, unlike a certain other large ship
-Giant, unobstructed cockpit view
-2 Multicrew seats; In addition to flying fighters and manning turrets, your friends can also hang out and help scan systems using the system scanner.
-HUGE fuel tank; this thing comes standard with 128 tons of fuel which can last you 10-15 jumps before you start thinking about refueling.
-Lastly, and most importantly, it looks beautiful while doing it.
Yes, the ship is not for everyone, but for me it's absolutely perfect. If you also use an explorer beluga please share some photos, I'd love to see them! Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
