We're gonna have a weekly hate thread on Hyrum because he isn't an EXPERT but we're gonna pass on CERTIFIED beauticians who are EXPERTS promoting bad skincare!!!!!1!!1!!
Srs I know no one actually approved of her in the thread but the energy level isn't close to what they bring when they remember Hyrum exists. Also can they stop heralding beauticians as these ultimate authorities on skin. It takes less than 2 years to become one
I was at a hair salon getting my hair dyed as the color was fading and growing out. I do funky colors and was currently doing orange. So I was sitting in her chair with that big black cape thing with orange dyed hair in between foil pieces.
My stylist was working on something in the back while I waited for the color to soak in. She was also the only one working at that time so I was the only one in the main store.
So lady was waiting at the front counter (around the corner from where I was at). She kept sighing and making noises. Eventually she went around the corner and very loudly yelled hello at me. When I didn't pay attention she came over and started yelling at me about how she had been waiting for a long time and I was just sitting there doing nothing. She went on for about 5 minutes about how she needed my help and how selfish and lazy I was being.
The stylist then came out and asked what she needed. The lady just huffed and bitterly told her that her coworker was refusing... keep reading on reddit ➡
So, I was thinking about civilian life in the Mass Effect universe and then a thought came up to me, how would the beauty industry evolve by the time the Mass Effect games takes place? My guess is that tattoo artists would see high demand as certain races such as the Turians would place an importance on tattoos as a way of showing where you came from . Barber shops would either die out or would need to offer more services as many of the aliens in Mass Effect do not have hair for a hairdresser to work on.
Back in 2014, I just turned 26 at the beginning of May and started a 6 months long internship at the beauty salon near where I live. At the time I was learning to become a beautician so I already had the theoretical knowledge I wanted to use in practice. In my job center I was given information that a newly opened beauty salon nearby is looking for people for internships, so I applied and got it. I was supposed to be a beautician / nail stylist at the place, after short training. I was thrilled! It meant more practical knowledge and experience for me before the final exams at beauty school. Or so it seemed.
Let me give you a backup for the story. he owner - let's call her The Dragon Lady - used to work as a cashier in one of the big retail group and she thought she's amazing in customer service. Note: she wasn't. Dragon Lady took a course in nail styling and hired a beautician with years of experience to do the other part of service in the salon. And aft... keep reading on reddit ➡
I know the title sounds bad, but I'm honestly a bit lost and don't know if what I did makes me an asshole. My first language isn't English, so I apologize for any mistakes
A few days ago my(19F) mom(40F) made an appointment at a beautician, which was supposed to be today, and she also asked me to go look at a job at a factory/lab in our city. Of course, I happily agreed because I really want to get a job. Sadly my period started yesterday, but I thought it won't be that bad and I could just endure it. But when I woke up, I had horrible cramps and had to go to the bathroom every 20 minutes.
So I told my mom I can't go today, and told her why so but she blew up. She started calling me an ungrateful brat, and saying I will ruin her reputation if I don't go to that beautician (because she made an appointment for me last month too, but I couldn't go for other reasons). She always does this. She said that "We are women, we are supposed to endure the pain every month". Honestly I feel like... keep reading on reddit ➡
I've been following two youtube channels on beauty advice, and it seems both have differing views on certain topics e.g. alcohol in skincare, silicone in products.
It's getting me really confused, because as much as I believe the beautician has had years of experience, the chemistry PHD always has scientific facts and research.
Wondering if any of you guys have had similar dilemmas, and whose advise did you choose to follow at the end of the day?
Edit: youtuber (lab muffin beauty) is a chemistry PHD not simply a chemistry major! My mistake!
So, not sure if this belongs here, but I’ve been seeing the same beautician for a while. She’s the one who originally dyed my hair red a while ago (never got it recolored). I wanted to change it up, so I asked her to do pink and purple (pastel if possible, but figured she couldn’t). She refused to do the color in any shade. She refuses to dye any of her clients hair pink, purple, or blue in any shade. They’re too damaging? I find this odd for a few reasons. 1 I know red can be damaging as well, but she has no problems with red. 2 we’ve discussed blue before and she was fine with it. 3 she’s had all three of these colors in her own hair. We both have locs, and I’d understand if mines just weren’t mature enough to dye, but she won’t do the color period. She’s agreed to dye them green and yellow/blonde though. I’m probably eventually gonna get the other colors from someone else, but thoughts? Because I know plenty of people with natural hair with these colors and have no problems and they... keep reading on reddit ➡
A parrot was standing outside a beauty salon and every day that a certain lady passed by and it would say loudly: ACK Good Morning WHORE!
On the way home in the evening, it would again offer greetings: ACK Good Evening WHORE!
This goes on for several weeks, when finally she calls the salon, speaks to the owner and describes the problem. The owner says he will be standing in the doorway around the time when this happens and will deal with the parrot.
Of course, the next day, the same thing happens, except the parrot has barely finished the greeting, "Good Morning, WHORE!" when the owner grabs it and takes it back to the Salon. As punishment, the colorful feathers are dyed jet black. For fun, the owner dyes a small patch in front white, and after a few hours, the parrot is back on its perch outside the store.
On the way home, the woman passes by the parrot who has a look of complete contempt and disgust. Yet, the parrot is totally silent. Incredulous, the woman decides to double b... keep reading on reddit ➡
I'm looking for someone who can cut and/or style my hair. I need to get my hair ready for interviews and (with luck) a new job. My stylist got a bit expensive so I'm hoping for one under $80 but the most important part is they know what they are doing with my hair.
I moved to Berlin 8 months ago and I am struggling to find the same calibre of beautician I had in the UK. I'd particularly like a recommendation for eyebrow threading and lash lifts, because these are two procedures that it's really easy to screw up (and unlike a bad facial, bad brows take ages to un-do!).
I don't care about the price or the location, just any decent beauticians offering any services you'd recommend would be welcome.
I'm just starting with graphic design and I made my first logo for my girlfriend. She's starting her business as a beautician and I thought it would be good to have one.
My goal was to represent her field and herself in some way. The lines to show elegance and even to represent hair (body, eyelashes and eyebrows). Together they shape a "L" and with the other "l" inside the circle, they form her initials.
I would welcome some critics. I can take a punch haha.
As a hairdresser who has already been self isolating because of the anxiety from this whole thing, I think it’s absolutely ridiculous that’s (for now at least) that’s they are staying open.
I mean I’m meant to be “going back to work” next week and I’m already super uncomfortable about the whole thing, so now my boss is saying “yep we are staying open” when I now it’s a bad idea and I know the girls at work are not good at social distancing (still going out drinking/partying) and we’ve had a scare of one of the girls potentially getting the virus, but yet we are still staying open.
I’m sorry but I don’t want to risk myself or my family (who are seen as high risk with pre-existing conditions) getting sick just because my boss refuses to close.
They have no masks and no social distancing measures. When my mom asked where is your mask, she replied malai corona nai lachaina.
My dumbass laati mom wasn't able to reject them hoes. Rish le paagal bhairachu. Yetro din lockdown alchi lai lai baseko matlabai bhayenani.
I'm thinking of getting some hair removed in the distant, post-COVID future. Obviously I'd prefer to go to a dermatologist, but that depends on cost difference. Unfortunately none of the dermatologists have any prices on their websites and want to do a consultation before they give prices. I don't want to bother doing that if the cost is really high. If anyone has done the dermo route and can share how much they paid, it would be much appreciated.
