No I donβt know what it is, but can we find something?
Leaf blowers suck?
Sacramento drivers suck?

Downtown is a zombie wasteland?
The Kitchen is the best restaurant in town?
The new Bay Area transplants are killing traditional Sacramento culture?
$1500 for a one bedroom apartment is outrageous?
What do you think we should all agree on?
This took place two years ago.
I'd just recently turned nineteen; I was a college freshman going to school in a small town in south Louisiana. My parents were the 'pull yourself up by your bootstraps'-type, having done their best to instill a strong work ethic in me growing up; they'd expected me to pay for my own tuition with no help from them whatsoever.
Not going to lie, I was a little annoyed at first. I didn't mind paying my own way, but I was concerned about the impact working all those hours would have on my social life, as I'd wanted the full college experience. I started working part-time as a waiter at a local seafood restaurant. Shifts were limited and tips were scarce; my dad recommended supplementing my income through yard work, saying I could use his riding lawn mower and leaf blower.
Anyway, I'd started making pretty good money mowing lawns, managing to snag a few regular clients through word-of-mouth. My best friend Blaise was working as a cashier at the local corner store while he attended the nearby community college He'd happily recommend my lawn care services to any customers or coworkers. I was ecstatic. I was not only making enough money to pay for school, but I even had a little left over to get my beat up old truck some much needed repairs.
Blaise told me about a guy he worked with at the store; it was a slightly older guy. Mid-twenties, I believe. His name was Alex. He was quiet, didn't smile much, a bit of a loner type. It didn't matter to me, as I was only looking to make cash. He'd said that the guy needed someone to mow his front and backyard, as he didn't really have the time. He didn't elaborate as to what he did outside of working at the grocery store, but I'd guessed it wasn't much.
So my friend Blaise gave Alex my number. No big deal, right? After all, I was giving it out to anyone who might be even the least bit interested in my services. Turns out that was the start of what would be a yearlong nightmare.
Alex texted me on Saturday morning, the day after Blaise and I talked. It was pretty cordial and simple, nothing more than a "Hey man, what's up? Your friend Blaise told me you cut grass." I gave an affirmative and then asked when he'd like me to come over and how frequently, given how often it rained here in south Louisiana. He simply told me to come later that day and that he wasn't sure if he could afford me on a weekly basis. Whatever, I thought, maybe we could work out some kind of arrangement. I immediately h

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ! Thank you!
I'm having trouble getting my Mexican Rice (Spanish Rice) the right texture. I'm trying to recreate what you would get at a Mexican restaurant. I'm looking for *kind of* sticky where you slide your fork under a pile of rice and pick up like a tablespoon or so on your fork. Mine always comes out like individual grains. I like the flavor so I'm really looking for help on texture. Maybe advice on the type of rice too.
Here's what I do:
Where am I going wrong?
I'd like to share this list of hidden gems in the Toledo Area. Feel free to add to this list.
EDIT: Please re-visit this list if you checked it out early. I have added some things.
Gardens and community centers
Simpson Garden Park in Bowling Green - Charming public park with botanical garden, a Japanese garden, a small rock garden/fountain, and a large open grassy area.
Schedel Arboretum & Gardens in Elmore - Another lovely botanical garden.
Bennett's Orchard in Ottawa Lake, MI - Apple orchard with hard cider tasting room.
Sidecut Metropark bird house - The canal locks side of the park has two areas dedicated to birdwatching - a small tree house, and a small porch. Both have pictorial guides to help you identify the local bird species that visit the nearby birdhouses. It is surprisingly delightful.
577 Foundation in Perrysburg - One of the most magical places I've ever visited. Most indoor activities currently closed due to COVID, but they are lovely when open. Community garden plots, apiary, bird watching house, community book shop, pottery house and kiln, children's musical playground, small river walk hike, restored 1800s log cabin.
Canal Experience at Providence Metropark in Grand Rapids, OH - View the docked canal boat. I don't know if canal rides are open right now but I have heard good things.
Lou Campbell State Nature Preserve - In Monclova. A true hidden gem. Unlike the metroparks, the trails aren't paved. You can get lost in nature. It was closed to the public until 2014 and is still pretty isolated. In all these years, I've never seen another person here.
Toledo Public Library - When people lament the closure of video stores like Blockbuster, I wonder why they don't remember that the public library branches have great DVD selections that you can browse in-person and online.
Schooner Farms in Weston - Lavender fields. Currently appointment-only.
MacQueen's in Holland - Apple orchard with apple picking in the fall, cider made on-site, cute little country store and gift shop. Thank you u/mikeyj198
Perennial Plant Peddler near Findlay - Daylily garden.
Hidden Lake Gardens in Tipton, MI - Thanks to u/Monkey_Time_Warp - "It's absolutely beautiful and not much further away than some of the others you have listed. I should mention there is a $5 entrance fee, but it's well worth it."

I know the Rangers are an original six team and I know you guys have been listed as the most valuable franchise ahead of the Leafs and the Habs, which is nuts and it's cool to see an American team do that.
I visited New York City with my family in spring of 2016. It was while you guys were playing the Pens in the playoffs.
I was expecting to see the entire city covered with Rangers stuff but was disappointed not to see any at all.
I saw a ton of people in Yankees hats, a few in Mets hats and a few in Giants hats but no Rangers stuff. Also when we went out to dinner it seemed none of the restaurants had the games on. Also I had a staff member in the hotel ask me when I was wearing my Tampa Bay Lightning shirt if they were the arena football team, I told him they were a hockey team and he looked confused and said "oh."
I know New York City is huge and it's very busy place. Do Rangers fans tend to live more in the suburban parts of New York? Maybe in Queens or Brooklyn or something?
Are there regular places with street hockey games?
I know in Tampa, you'll see most Lightning stuff in Downtown and aside from that it's typically the suburban areas and subdivisions that are heavily Lightning (New Tampa, Wesley Chapel, Lutz, Davis Island, Westchase, Bayshore Gardens, Clearwater, St. Pete, Seminole Heights etc). Tend to be more heavily Lightning while the more urban suburbs tend to have more Bucs fans. Then the rural areas tend to have more Rays fans, like Pasco County or Riverview.
Is it like that in NYC? I know there is an older guy in my neighborhood, his in his 60s and sometimes he wears a Rangers hat when walking his dogs. He has a Messier jersey too. He's from Connecticut though.
Trying to go to sleep at 4am and all I can think about is making some curry. Just thought I'd like to hear from others π
So obviously Japanese curry over rice is the default, but what else do you use the roux for? Have you guys tried substituting rice for something else?
One time I was playing Yakuza 5 there was a side mission to help a chef invent some new dishes in Hokkaido, and he came up with soup curry with vegetables and pasta. The soup curry is tempered with chicken broth and coconut milk, looks much yellower and is more liquid than the stew-like curry we are familiar with. here's a pic. I was intrigued and had to try it. Searched some soup curry recipes and settled on making it like this:
Saute 1/2 carrot, 1/2 onion, 1 potato, simmer in 500ml water or stock with a bay leaf for at least 20-30min. Remove bay leaf, blend with immersion blender until nice and silky. Dissolve in 1 curry roux block, season with soy sauce (1/2 - 2 tsp), add 100ml coconut milk and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder to make it more yellow. Serve with roasted veg (or flash fried), and spaghetti.
It turned out really well! Adding the turmeric gave a pleasant earthiness to the soupy curry that's creamy with the fragrant coconut milk. The veggies were such a great addition giving the warm, creamy and earthy soup curry vibrance and sweetness. I used bell pepper, broccoli and shimeji mushrooms.
I also tried using left over normal Japanese curry to make risotto with. Have to make it way more liquid though, so I added stock to it. I could never follow risotto recipes I always find myself needing much less or much more liquid than the recipe called for, so always ended up winging it. I would add sausages and cherry tomatoes to it to make an easy lunch, possibly upsetting risotto purists.
Another variation I did was to top yakisoba noodles instead of rice with Japanese curry. Was inspired by my mum's favourite dish at a Japanese restaurant that we frequented in the past. It has to be the Chinese soba type that's yellow and springy, not the buckwheat soba β the springy texture works so well with the pungent curry. I find that the spicier versions paired better with yakisoba than the mild types.
I've got 3 boxes of Japanese curry roux left, I'd like to hear some ideas!
So the two things that I really really enjoy are salt and sugar. These are obviously not the best thing to eat all the time, and is the cause of my recent 65lb weight gain this past year. But last time I lost weight, I had a really good diet, especially for the snacky foods. I eat between 1200-1500 calories a day (I'm not super strict on myself as long as I run at least a 500-calorie deficit), and eating this way I'm very full and satisfied, even just a couple days out from throwing out the Oreos and potato chips and stopping eating two hamburgers+fries for dinner. Here are some of the things I recommend (and stuff that's already helped lose me about 8 pounds since I started back).
Rice cakes! No longer the bland boring plain rice cakes of yesteryear. Quaker now has flavored rice cakes that range from 40-60 calories apiece. Some of my personal favorites include the tomato basil (great to top with other stuff!), chocolate chip (only 60 calories apiece!), butter popcorn, white cheddar, caramel, and the "everything" (like the bagel topping). These really hit the spot for that salty/sweet crunchy craving and even if I "pig out" and eat 3-4 of them (and they're pretty filling and big so I usually have one or two), I'm still not too bad along on total calories.
Bleu Cheese/stinky cheeses. look, I love cheese. But stuff like cheddar is not super nutritional and pretty dense in calories, and usually just makes me want more of it after having a reasonable amount. In fact, blocks of cheddar cheese are what started my latest spiral. I've found several brands of bleu cheese that come in cubes, and about 10 cubes comes out to less than 100 calories. And its very satiating and flavorful. I've found that really stinky cheeses hit that spot of craving a ton of flavor and stimulation, while not wanting to eat nearly as much of it. I eat limburger and hooligan too, I really REALLY like stinky cheese.
PB2. If you love peanut butter (like I do) this stuff is a LIFESAVER. About 1/4 of the calories for the same amount. I re-constitute mine with skim milk instead of water, it seems to give it a better texture and taste. Sometimes if I have it I use a sweetened milk like almond or coconut (if I don't need to worry about an extra ~50 calories or so, I usually don't sweat it or count calories down to that granular a detail). I love to eat this with apple slices. Also great to mix into shakes and whatnot.
Alternative to Halo Top style ice cream: I can't do the sugar

1: What get carry over to new game+?
Manager level but not manager training stat. The default manager at store one has 160/400 at max level, if you train her to be at 400/400 by Y10 and start a new game+, it'll go back to 160/400.
3 staffs who keep their level and stat from training and winning contest.
5 of each ingredients you have. Of course if you have less than 5 of an ingredient, like 2 chili for example, you'll only have 2 chili in next game.
Recycling center points and items. All recycling center items you get (either from buying or receiving as gifts), you can keep to next game, even if you are using them in your current game. So they're very important, and conveniently you dont have to uninstall them before starting new game+.
Combo guide that you have discovered, the JPN wiki guide has a list for combo if you need help with them.
Roughly 3% of your money (I ended Y10 with over 500M and started a new game with over 16M), a portion of your heart/burger point. I dont know how the heart/burger points are calculated, but I usually start new game with 100-300 of each.
30% of shop relationship/investment. I ended Y10 with Butcher at 100% and when I started new game+, it was at 30%. If you stop investing shop after reaching 50, you will start new game+ with them all at roughly 15-16 or so.
Traveling Stamp and restaurant layout, these take a long time to collect so it's recommended that you do them all every year.
2: How to unlock ingredients at market
-Ranking up
-Move to new area, and unlock the customers there
-Investing in the shops
-Winning contests: There are some important ingredients that can only be researched after winning contest. Like Chili research is unlocked after winning the Normal difficulty Chili contest. Kairo Bun (one of the best buns in the game along with Sally Prin Bun) is unlocked after winning Kairo Kontest. For reference, the burger that helped me win Kairo Kontest has 1935 aroma/ 2465 flavor.
3: Customers
As per the in-game help, higher customers level will make them spend more money, so it's a good idea to put customer exp+ items in the shop, ideally y

I HAD to have pozole today, but I barely have any of the ingredients and there isn't a restaurant around here that sells the soup.
What I did have on hand was green tomatoes [instead of tomatillos], an onion, pepperoncini peppers [instead of poblanos, jalapenos or anaheims], garlic, a can of green beans [instead of fresh spinach, lettuce, or cilantro], chicken bouillon and a jar of Herdez guac salsa.
I boiled my green tomatoes, half an onion, garlic and bouillon on high for 20 minutes. While that was boiling I toasted pepitas, some sunflower kernels and corn tortillas until charred.
Added the pepitas and sunflower kernels to the blender, 2 toasted corn tortillas [instead of hominy], my boiled veggies, 1 can of drained green beans, 1 bay leaf, 1 cup of the boiling broth, pinch of salt, a few tablespoons of herdez guac salsa and blended until smooth.
Added that blended sauce back into the pot with the rest of the boiling broth, boiled on high for 5 minutes, added colossal tiger shrimp and boiled for another 5 minutes.
Topped my soup with a toasted tortilla, and an extra tortilla on the side. That bowl warmed my whole soul, I swear.

The chefs welcomed back Season 23 runner-up Rod Brown, with his wife Claire for their tasting menu challenge which was part of his wedding. In the Challenge, Donna took the role of cooking two dishes, and won the challenge for the red team. At dinner service, despite Braden serving raw scallops, and Sabrina overcooking the lobster for the challenge winning risotto, both teams pulled it together, and rushed to a complete dinner service. In the end, Chef Ramsay announced that Jonah was not feeling well, and therefore couldnβt return. And in the end, in order for Braden to find his voice, Chef Ramsay sent him to the red team, to listen to Donna.
Intro
After Braden got switched to the red team, he knew that Chef Ramsay was giving him another chance to fight for his life in the competition by joining the red team. Later, the entire red team welcomed Braden to the red team, and Donna mentioned that he she knew he had some fk ups during dinner service, and wanted him to listen to every instruction she was giving him. Jamal was finally happy that the blue team has lost the deadweight, and felt that he deserved to go to the red team. Later, while the blue team sat on the patio, Braden was excited to go to the red team because Sabrina was still in the competition, and mentioned that Sabrina looked so hot. Later, Sabrina and Braden were making love in the bedroom, and Donna mentioned that a showmance between Braden and Sabrina was soon about to become a nomance.
Team Challenge
Later, the chefs were told by Sous Chefs Christina and Jason to head outside for the next challenge. When the chefs got outside, Braden was surprised to see a target, and 5 piniatas. Braden was wondering if they were going to play a little archery. Chef Ramsay mentioned that for their next challenge, they were going to be making bowl dishes from other countries. He then announces that the names of the countries were hidden inside the piΓ±atas. He announces that each person will go head to head, and the person who lands their arrow the closest to the middle of the target, will choose the piΓ±ata they want to hit. Whichever country comes out, is the dish that they will be cooking. Chef Ramsay tells Jamal who he wants to face off against, and he chooses Paige, as she knew she was very inconsistent. Paige lands her arrow closest to the center, so she picks the piΓ±ata. The cuisine that Jamal and Paige had to cook with was Thai. The next to go

Fancy Dinner Club; I use to do a monthly fancy dinenr club back home, where we would get dressed up (though restaurant specific) and go enjoy a new restaurant, get a little bit of everything to share, few bottles of wine or drinks. Just a treat yo self night, but fancy.
Outdoors! I've been a canoe and kayak instructor for 10 years now, so hand me a paddle.

## Heat
The heat in this dish comes from the chilli powder and green fresh chillies. Kashmiri chillies are normally mild and used more for colour but check the label first as some are sold as "hot". If you fancy a vindaloo but hate heat simply leave out all chillies and chilli powders and replace the Kashmiri chilli for paprika.
## Ingredients
## Method
add the oil to a pan on a medium heat and add in the star anise and bay leaf, fry for 30-60 seconds stirring occasionally until they become aromatic
add in the garlic and ginger paste and stir continuously for around 30 seconds
drop in the chopped up Kashmiri chillies and stir into the oil, youβll notice they start colouring the oil almost straight away
add the Kashmiri chilli powder, mix through and allow to fry gently for a minute. Add a little base gravy if it's looking dry, it's fine to add some at any time when needed. Remember you're looking to gently fry the spices, not burn them

Please do your own research and seek professional investment advice for your portfolio. None of the following statements should be interpreted as financial advice or investment recommendations.
In August of 2020, I released a document outlining a propane consumption trend, following the outbreak of COVID-19 in the U.S as well as the record natural disasters in 2020. I highlighted Suburban Propane Partners as the most effective trade in the space. I bought call options and sold several months later for 16x my original investment, as the price went from $12.60 to $18.10. My original thesis was that natural disasters such as hurricanes, wildfires, etc. would positively impact earnings and that was true. However, another part of the thesis was the impact outdoor dining would have on propane and propane accessories. Record sales of patio heaters created a massive increase in commercial demand for propane. This was not reflected in last quarter's earnings because that didn't begin until the fall months. This quarter should reflect that trend as well as a new hoarding trend that has emerged.
Due to COVID, outdoor dining has caused an explosive demand for propane patio heaters and fire pits, which are still backordered with many retailers for the next month and have been extremely difficult to get since September. This has created a panic in the propane market and has many businesses and home owners desperately attempting to buy and store as much propane as they can. After experiencing shortages of toilet paper, hand sanitizer, masks, meat, and other goods last year, it appears that consumers are afraid of going without heat this winter. This is adding to the panic and creating a self-fulfilling prophecy, as a normal supply of propane meets an abnormally high demand.

(Tales From the Here There Be Monsters Universe)
Section 1
Part One:
Fourteen thousand years agoβ¦
The beast was a monstrous mass of black frozen rock and ice, seven miles long and four miles thick, hurtling brazenly through the unforgiving void of space at 130,000 miles an hour and leaving a trail of glowing dust and ice nearly six million miles long behind it. The brilliantly shining emissary of destruction had been attracted by the gravity of the relatively small star as if being invited to come into the system of nine orbiting planets to eventually wreck what havoc that it could. And today, after orbiting this tiny solar system for the relatively short time of only 600 million years, a mere drop in the bucket of infinity, the blazing cometβs journey across the frightful cosmos was about to come to an end.
The gravity of the large planet pulled at the comet, enticing the bright celestial traveler away from its millenniaβs long orbit and into the planets deadly embrace. But one of the planetβs children, a small misshapen moon that was only 1,500 miles in diameter, intercepted the onrushing comet like a petulant young child stepping between its mother and a potential suitor. Far above the gas giant planet that a primitive species will one day name Saturn, a pinpoint flash of light in the sky was all that the mother planet would see of the cataclysmic collision that shattered the ice moon onto billions of pieces and sending them tumbling fearfully across the cold vast emptiness of space.
Four years later, the clear night skies above the southern ice continent of the third planet in the system sparkled brilliantly as thousands of chunks of ice finally ended their long voyage from their orbit around Saturn only to fizzle away in the upper atmosphere in one last brilliant flash of light before vanishing forever. All of them blinked away in a shower of sparks, all except one. A colossal chunk of black ice, all which remained of the frozen moon, was nearly 1,000 feet in diameter and hurled downwards towards the frozen, ice covered continent. The earth shattering impact split open the ground sending ice, snow, and debris flying almost a half mile into the freezing night sky. The earth groaned and quaked as the frozen alien invader buried itself deep into the frigid continentβs crust. For days afterwards, the ice sheets of the inhospitable landscape shook with tremors, as if the earth was trying to h

Hey there everyone!
My name's Anthony! I'm a Canadian who made the bold move to move to the Bay Area of California for work just before full lockdowns last year. Here's a quick brief about me!
I'm a Canadian in California!
Picture of me being https://imgur.com/9K0Zy2Z
27, 5'11, Blonde, "Fit Dad Bod",
What do I like to do?
Video Games! Mostly playing these right now: World of Warcraft, Mass Effect (Legendary Edition), and some Baldurs Gate 3
Sports! Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Maple Leafs (sadly), Formula 1 (oh, yes I wake up at 4am to watch a race)
Movies and TV Shows; Sci-Fi / Drama / Historical ; So many to name, ask me about what I watch! I love to dive in and go deep.
Looking forward to getting travelling once the world begins to return to normal again, bucketlist locations are Spain, Iceland and getting to every baseball stadium.
Mostly looking to see what kind of connections I can make, happy to play games, chat on discord, watch party for some movies and see where things go!

Made from scratch this hot, spicy dishes fantastic flavours come from the heavy use of vinegar, garlic and chilli spices. A hugely popular Indian restaurant meal, where it can be made with pork, beef, chicken, lamb, prawns, or veg

## Heat
The heat in this dish comes from the chilli powder and green fresh chillies. Kashmiri chillies are normally mild and used more for colour but check the label first as some are sold as "hot". If you fancy a vindaloo but hate heat simply leave out the green chillies and chilli powder.
## Ingredients
## Method
add the oil to a pan on a medium heat and add in the star anise and bay leaf, fry for 30-60 seconds stirring occasionally until they become aromatic
add in the onion, garlic and ginger paste, fresh and chopped up Kashmiri chillies, stir continuously for around 30 seconds
add the Kashmiri chilli powder, mix through and allow to fry gently for a minute. Add a little water if it's looking dry, it's fine to add some at any time when needed. Remember you're looking to gently fry the spices, not burn them
now add the chilli powder, spice mix, coriander powder, cumin, sugar, fennel, salt, turmeric, pepper and cardamom seeds. Mix in well to form your vindaloo paste adding a small amount of water at any time if required to keep the paste loose.

Hello, lovely people -
I dated a filipina for 7 years and fell in love with the food! Unfortunately, it's hard to get your hands on if you aren't actively dating a filipino person! Why are there so few filipino restaurants?? You can hardly go a block without running into 5 Thai food places! But I digress.
So I've been trying to make adobo for years now and it always turns out disappointing. I'm clearly missing some key ingredient or magic ratio or cooking trick and I need your help because my wife is starting to think adobo is bland and WE CAN'T HAVE THAT, can we? For the pride of the Philippines!!
Here's my recipe:
I salt and pepper some chicken thighs and put them skin-side down in a pot to render. Then I add roughly equal parts white vingar and soy sauce (I've tried more of one or the other; doesn't seem to matter). Finally, I put in chopped garlic, a bay leaf, and some peppercorns.
Upon occasion, I've added some sugar. Upon occasion, I've added some sliced white onion. I've tried cubed chicken breast, too.
It always comes out a little bland. The super-POW pungency and flavor explosion I'm used to is just never there. It might be I'm not cooking it long enough in the sauce? Or maybe I need to pull the chicken out and reduce the sauce afterwards (taste it/season it/flavor it to my liking?). Do I have the order of operations wrong somewhere?
Any help would be wonderful. Salamat!

*This analysis includes only material gleaned from the episodes which have been released in the US so far, and various promotional stills and videos posted to the official Bluey FB page.*
Bluey, the show, has all the respect in the world from me. I could not imagine writing up something like this for any other kids show. I don't care in the least how Mickey Mouse's or Doc McStuffin's house is laid out. This show maintains a fine balance between make-believe and reality, which is an aspect in itself that makes the Heeler House worthy of further attention. It's a credit to the various artists, designers and showrunners that they made a cartoon house that sparks as much interest as it does.
Overall, I believe it would be fair to say the structure of the house has been purposefully ignored to allow for maximum flexibility in storytelling. Out-of-universe, the artists and designers keeping track of doors, windows, rooms and how it all connects would add a level of complexity that would be unnecessary. It's best to go along with what the creative team has obviously spent a lot of time making perfect in every other way. The house exists to tell the best possible story, not to nitpick details. This post in not a criticism of the show in any way. We're going to look at the in-universe details and try to make sense of it, for fun!
Jumping right into it, the Heeler House is a non-Euclidean house of horrors. It defies logic from any architectural or structural explanation. The Doctor's TARDIS is bigger on the inside, but the Heeler House is not only bigger inside, but cannot accurately be mapped. A possible explanation is that we are seeing the house through the eyes of an adolescent cartoon dog, so some loss of details are to be expected. For those of us watching at home, the house exists in at least five separate "chunks", with only a few clear connections between them. I will explain my theories as best I can as we go along. Let's break it down.
The Outside (front)
An attractive, remodeled Queenslander. As far as structural elements go, it's a fairly simple design. An elevated first floor, centered front door, and bay window. What is not clear from this view is the placement of anything on the second floor, but more about that later.

Hey there everyone!
My name's Anthony! I'm a Canadian who made the bold move to accept a promotion at the end of the 2019 and end up moving to California (Bay Area/ NorCal) at the beginning of lockdowns which squashed all my ability to meet coworkers (ended up getting moved to different teams twice, now no one on my team is in Cali), and limited by ability to really experience the city.
