Owners of bamboo flooring AND heavy dogs with toenails, how’s the floor holding up?

Redoing the floor in my home soon and considering bamboo. I own two large dogs and am wondering if this floor is going to get scratched up any more/less than other hardwood options.

Currently have hardwood and there are scratches but it’s not noticeable unless you’re staring right at it.

Bamboo flooring sperating

Flooring

Ok, so all of a sudden I have noticed that the bamboo flooring in my living room has started to develop a gap. The gap does not stretch the full length of the room, or even a full board. The tile you see is the laundry room, there is no cracks at all. There is a professionally done addition in the living room done about 20 years ago which I believe is when the floors were out in. (Been in the house for 2 years). But the addition doesn't start for another 4 feet from the spot. House humidity is currently at 20% thanks to the incredibly dry cold air outside.

Is this the door just failing? Or should I be looking at structural engineers? As far as I can tell the floor joists look fine underneath.

Bamboo Flooring Brands

G'day,

Looking to lay a bamboo floor in the coming months and rather than get the in-store bullshit sales pitch I'd like to throw a couple of questions out here.

  1. Is there any significant difference of quality in all of the brands available, or are they generally all alike and pumped out en masse in the same Chinese factories but just have different packaging?

  2. If there is a difference, what are some of the better brands to keep an eye out for? Two that seem to pop up a lot in my online research are Verdura and ARC.

Over to you fellow AusRedditors, all advice and info greatly appreciated. Ta mates.

Bamboo flooring or Luxury Vinyl Flooring for the kitchen?

I'm between Lifeproof LVF or bamboo. The floor specialist said bamboo can take better water damage and will last a long time. Lifeproof LVF is 7mm thick and is a top of the line LVF. Obviously, the kitchen is to susceptible to water and oil on the floor. The long term plan is to rent the house out next year. Can someone give me some advice with this?

[FT] 20 NMT, other nmt [LF] 2.5 mil, Cloud flooring, Mossy Garden wall, Iron Shelf diy, Bamboo shelf diy, Brown Antique Phone

Hi everyone!

I recently had to restart my island over because we had to get a different switch and trying to get my island cloud transfer was a major headache, so, we decided to just start over!

I am at that dreaded part in the game where in order to expand I need a ton of bells and then I'll need even more bells to expand again, not even factoring in moving houses around and stuff.

Anyway, I have 20nmt and ideally want 2.5 mil for them.

I also have a couple other nmts to trade for the other items I want, or I can check my catalog if you have a wishlist (please link to wishlist!):

  • Cloud flooring
  • Mossy-garden Wall
  • Iron Shelf diy
  • Bamboo shelf diy
  • Antique Phone, Brown
  • Mom's Candle Set, Elegant & Chic
  • Retro Stereo, Brown

Installing Bamboo Flooring on Concrete Slab

Hi all,

I'm trying to put a Bamboo Flooring onto my Concrete slab and I'm trying to figure out what is the best way to attach it to the concrete.

What: 1/2 in x 5 in Bamboo flooring with interlocking mechanism. [Link to product](https://www.flooranddecor.com/eco-forest/mocha-locking-solid-stranded-bamboo-100048214.html#prefn1=productSubtype&prefv1=Bamboo&start=6). Warranty includes installation via floating/locking and glue.

Where: I intent to put the Bamboo is all across my bottom concrete subfloor, including the kitchen, excluding bathrooms and laundry room. The living room measures 30ish feet x 20 feet with some spans as long as 35 feet. I live in Sacramento, CA. I generally thought we had low humidity, but this [website seems to differ](https://weather-and-climate.com/average-monthly-Humidity-perc,sacramento-california-us,United-States-of-America)

Of course I want to be lazy and install this Bamboo flooring just click/lock and be done with it, but I was reading online and they have run limits depending on the stability of the humidity in your home. Only if you know your humidity level doesn't very more than 20% over the year, then you are not limited, otherwise you have to limit to 25' long x 15' wide runs-- my living room is clearly larger than that. [Example Source](https://www.ambientbp.com/blog/nailing-vs-gluing-vs-floating-a-floor-which-is-best)

So I was thinking of gluing the wood, but the contractor I have been speaking to recommended against that

  1. He thought it might not be necessary. He has installed Bamboo flooring before around where I live and has never seen the need to glue.
  2. He suggested if I were to glue, that he would do some kind of intermittent glueing. He didn't describe this in detail but I don't even know what this means or how it would work. I guess if you glue to the concrete in 15 feet squares, then perhaps this can get around the the run limit?
  3. Glue as I have read in this sub is a big pain in the a$$ to remove if that ever becomes necessary (probably won't be) making repairs much more difficult.
  4. Glue has been suggested to be done only by

Please help: bamboo hardwood flooring

Hello all! My dear friend is looking into new hardwood floors. She prefers bamboo.

She went to Lowe’s/Home Depot and they mentioned they won’t install bamboo hardwood floors because bamboo is bad in North Western Washington because it’s too wet of a climate.

My friend was deeply disappointed. She then went to a smaller, private flooring place for a second opinion and they mentioned they do not carry it but will install it. They mentioned bamboo is totally workable in our area as long as you put in a liner.

Which one is the truth? Can anyone help? My friend wants to make an informed decision but is confused.

Bamboo flooring or luxury vinyl flooring for the kitchen?

I'm in NJ. I am planning to move out of my house next year to rent my house out. I need to renovate the house. I'm not sure if I should go with bamboo or luxury vinyl plank. The floor specialist in Home Depot said bamboo will stay forever and can handle water and oil that can spill onto it in the kitchen. The price is 1.99 sq ft. The other option I'm thinking of is lifeproof 7mm luxury vinyl plank (LVP). It's 3.69 sq ft. To my understanding LVP is great for kitchen and bathroom. Can I get some advice? I'm new to this. Thanks!

Bubbling Flooring - Eco Forest Mocha Wire Brushed Locking Stranded Engineered Bamboo

I recently purchased a home and the sellers changed the flooring recently. We are a month in and one section of flooring started bubbling in a weird way and I cannot figure out what is going on.

The consistency of the bubbled area is sticky and it smells sweet!

Any information would be helpful.

Friend is subletting me her apartment for the month and her AC started leaking last night when I was asleep and it messed up the bamboo flooring in that spot.

Just like the title, says. I’m nervous to tell her because I don’t want her to be mad at me but it wasn’t my fault at all! This is the first time I ran her AC the entire time I’ve been there. Is there anyway I can possibly fix it? Not sure about what to do.
