Does anyone know of any good Balinese restaurants in the Bay that caters? Looking to cater a private elopement event in Summer '21 (around 60 people).
As a foreigner, curious to understand this concept better. thanks for any perspectives.
I'm a Hindu of Indian heritage, currently living in Indonesia. Balinese Hinduism and its unique characteristics have fascinated me, though I am only beginning to scratch the surface. Once concept that keeps resurfacing is "taksu," a sort of magnetic charisma that can be achieved in part through prayer, and that manifests heavily in the arts, dance, religion, and culture. Recently, I had the chance to speak with a Balinese Hindu (by marriage) whose career in Balinese dance has caused her to explore this concept. She shares some fascinating perspectives on taksu and Balinese Hinduism here: https://youtu.be/xqPf0C70vqE

So I'm a balinese who was born in Jakarta and spent my whole life in Jakarta. I've always felt so disconnected to the culture, compared with my cousins and family who spent their whole lives in Bali, as I only go there like a few times a year at most. I feel ashamed since whenever my friends would ask something about Bali or balinese culture I'd have no idea what to answer. The only Balinese words i know are "matur suksma", "tiang", and "ngajeng," for fucks sake. So are there any good literature exploring balinese culture? For instance, is there a balinese equivalent to "Tetralogi Buru"?
