Hi, I live in a basement suite, and there are other tenants living in the suite above my roommates and I that practice (daily) bagpipes and several other kinds of instruments (clarinet, trombone and piano) throughout the day. When I signed the lease I was not informed that the landlords (who live next door) had told the upstairs tenants that they could play whenever they want. For months the guys upstairs have been banging the floors, moving furniture, and playing instruments at all times, day and night. Eventually, I asked the landlord to resolve the issue in person, expressing that we did not want the bagpipes to be played at all on the premises and for all other instruments and loud noises to be before 10pm as per city bylaws, and the landlord instead insisted that we schedule 'an hour each day that the guys upstairs can bagpipe.' Otherwise the landlord got the other tenants upstairs to stop playing instruments after 10pm, which is something at least.
My roommates and I weren't comfortable with the other tenants bagpiping at all as we're students and our lecturers can't even hear us over zoom through the mic it's so loud, but the landlord insisted on 'one hour a day,' which we agreed to on a trial basis until the end of the month when exams are over. Frankly, I didn't agree to having musical instruments played over my head all day long and I feel pretty trapped. I've started recording when they make loud noise throughout the day and logging it in a spreadsheet, but I'm not sure how much good it will do since the standard of evidence to be found owed compensation for breach of quiet enjoyment is quite high and I only have so much storage on my phone and computer for evidence.
I start work on May 3rd full time and then I have to study for the LSAT whenever possible at home, between 4-9pm. The guys upstairs are demanding we shift the current 'schedule' to 8-9PM which just frankly shouldn't be acceptable since they play every day and the noise is ear-splittingly loud. I have a fixed term lease that ends in August, but if I wait it out then it will impact my studying for the lsat which I have to take in August. My only hope at this moment is that my landlords will agree to mutually end my lease next month.
Does anyone here have any experience dealing with a situation like this? I feel pretty hopeless and could do with some good news/advice.
As you see in the title im looking for a bagpipe but I dont know which one should I. Can someone refer me a good first pipe
Last night me and my dad were picking up a pizza from our local pizza place. As i got in with the pizza a guy came flying in the parking lot and almost hits our rear bumper. He had all his windows down and was playing very loud rap (i have no problem with rap but he was playing it very loud and when i looked over at him he had a smug look on his face. Now we are part irish ao my dad had some Irish bagpipe songs in so when we started the car the radio turned on and played the music. My dad got a big smile on his face. We pulled up behind him rolled down all the windows and turns up the bagpipes as loud as that radio could go blasting bagpipes as loud as a rock concert we drive away as he glares at us.
Hello, I'm looking for a goth- industrial type of song that had bagpipes in it. It's not Exterminating Angel by The Creatures, although that's a good one. There's another good one for the club, but I can't remember the name or the band. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks for reading!

I wanna learn. I play clarinet, sax, oboe, bassoon, flute, and recorder. I have been told you need some in person instruction. I promise I won't come play at your house unless you want me to. 😛
Signaler can have it, doesn’t contribute anything apart from phone to commander.
A recent tweet from Biden has sparked this question.
The piper is also wearing a kilt.
What I have learnt:
"That bagpipe guy" here - I make 3D printed traditional and historical instruments as part of a broader goal to make these cultures more accessible to folks without a ton of money or time to wait for a custom instrument to be built (often it's years!)
SLS Nylon has been a brilliant material for bagpipes, since it's strong enough for the functional elements that hold the musical bits, and precise enough for the musical bits themselves. The small air pockets inherent to SLS technology also make it resonant, and the finish out of the box feels convincingly like wood.
Recently, though, I've been working on a top-secret project to bring an affordable Irish flute to market on behalf of another maker, and while SLS might be precise enough to do it, flutes present a unique problem as an incredibly low-energy system. They need all the help they can get in terms of resonance and response, so I've been looking into more rigid materials.
Has anyone used SLS nylon with glass microbeads, or the Markforged MJF carbon fiber nylon? Is there a decrease in resolution or additional considerations to be made with regard to the finishing? Nylon doesn't sand for crap but you can at least get a satin finish on it, which is good enough for bagpipes and some flutes.
I'm also considering some of the engineering SLA resins, since they can take a mirror polish if necessary and are very rigid. However, I admit I wonder whether chunkier pieces might be subject to a lot of internal stress, and crack easily.
Just curious for random thoughts on interesting new materials from places like Shapeways and CraftCloud.
Looking for any personal recommendations for bagpipe repairs? I'm aware I can 'Google it' but there's a lot of choice and looking to see if anyone can speak from firsthand experience.
The Bloomington Pipers' Society and Fountain Trust Pipe Band will be collaborating for a Bagpipes in the Park event today at 4pm in Bryan Park. Come check us out!
Have you ever wanted to learn the bagpipe or Scottish style of drumming? Both groups are looking for new and experienced musicians alike to join our ranks. Whether you're eager to learn or are ready jump back in and find a new musical home, we'd be delighted to connect. Feel free to get ahold of any member with a set of pipes or a drum (hard to miss us!) and we'll tell you more about this wonderful musical tradition 🎼🎵
