Yes, I know. You have a high energy rescue pit mix. I do too...but I waited to get a dog until I had a fenced in back yard for her to run around in. You live in an apartment? Maybe you should have gotten a chihuahua.
I also have a high energy little human who is really looking forward to playing baseball in a few weeks and doesnβt want to have to worry about rolling in dog piss or tripping in divots. I donβt want to have to argue with some skinny young dude in glasses with a brindle pit bull(Iβm referring to one specific guy who inspired this post. If you know him tell him I said heβs a rat soup eating motherfucker) asking me βCanβt you use some other field?β when we come out to practice.
I especially donβt want it to get to the point that they decide to lock the fields up outside of scheduled games and practices because the dogs were causing too much damage. Thatβs what happened at the Irondale fields. They eventually went ahead and turned one of the fields into a dog park.
Itβs selfish and disrespectful to the parent volunteers who are trying to run one of the few baseball programs in the city.
I just moved to this area of town a week ago from Hoover. Iβm in love with the area but still trying to get my bearings on good spots to eat. Also would be good to know about any options that stay open late other than fast food.
If you've tried all 3, which do you prefer?
In my experience, Ore Mercantile Deli is the top-tier sandwich in Avondale. Melt would place 2nd. Ampersandwich is lowest tier.
Hey everybody! As the title says, Iβm looking for any and all restaurant recommendations for the Avondale area. Iβm moving up from Humboldt Park and Iβm excited to see what the area has to offer!
The address is 4204 Herschel St.
Hello everyone,
I got hit by a car that ran the light at Avondale Park today. They got out, saw I wasn't moving afterward, and then fled. If you were there and got an eye on the person, their car, or even better, their tag, please DM me. This person tried to murder me today and sent me to the ER, then fled the scene like a coward.
So I'm planning to buy a home on the back half of 2021, but I've been keeping an eye out for stuff that piqued my interest.
Long story short saw a wicked cheap place in Avondale. It's obviously cheap due to either condition or the neighborhood. Or both.
I know Avondale has a bad rap. But I've lived in Mt. Auburn for the last 5 years, and I know some people consider this a bad area. How does Avondale compare? The property is on Forest Ave. So it's a relatively busy street, if memory serves. Is that a mitigating factor?
I know most of these ones are new but it seems like quite a few people moved in since they opened:
Willis Avondale, Alexan Avondale, Courtland Decatur East.
Then there's some that are right around the corner too:
Arcadia Decatur, Decatur Crossing, The Clarion, Place on Ponce, Arlo, The Point on Scott, etc.
It seems like for the size of these apartment rooms and based on the pictures of the apartments, I feel like the complexes are asking for waaaay too much (I'm also sure most of these places aren't even 50% full because the supply is higher than demand).
I really like that Avondale/Decatur area and I'm currently in a 2bed/2bath for $1,100 within walking distance to downtown Avondale but looking for a 1bed in/around the same area seems like a bigger endevor than I thought it was going to be.
Got a picture, but on mobile and can't get it to upload right. From the coat it looks like maybe a white Yorkie or something, but hard to tell. Found in 3300 block of N Troy.
Tried to read his tags, but wouldn't let me get close enough. Definitely weird that he's got a leash attached, may have gotten lost by a dog walker or something. Anyway, is this your dog?
Iβm leaving in about a month to go to Lakeview, and wanna try all of the food there. Anything I absolutely 100% have to try before I go?
Hi Chi Fishing Fam,
Iβm temporarily moving from the north suburbs into the city. Lucky enough to have a place thatβs near the Chicago River (Belmont and Western area).
How is the fishing in the river? Iβve read dated articles about how thereβs a wide variety of species in the Chicago river. Primarily interested in largemouth and smallmouth, but open to anything really.
My apartment has a small kayak launch area and I will also have my kayak with me. Any advice on how to fish the river? Howβs the water clarity, is the current fast, etc?
Iβve mainly fished ponds and lakes, donβt have much river experience other than a few skunks on the DPR.
Any insight and tips are appreciated!
Anybody know?
I just woke up to no power, wonder what happened. Sounds like someone crashed into a poleπ€
Hi . I have a 4bedroom 2 bathroom house in Avondale. I want to upgrade to better areas as Avondale has state housing and average schools. Would you recommend doing that in this market?
I can't find cans or bombers anywhere, though I haven't tried Hop City yet. I'm in Anniston, but come to Birmingham about once a month or so. Where should I be looking?
