My first year in Australia, Thank you. Thank you so much.
A story I wanted to tell and say thank you, on the day that marks one year in Australia.
I was invited 3 years ago to apply for a skilled immigration visa to Australia. It took me close to 2 years to get the visa and $25,000 USD through everything that was needed. I was required to sell my car, house and close any account I had with my country (USA) in order for the visa to be granted.
Oh man was a nervous, all I ever learned about Australia was kangaroos (which I've only seen one, on the side of the road sadly D:), koalas (none yet) and it was hot, which was fine coming from Texas, I love hot.
I loaded up my remaining belongings, everything I had into 3 suitcases and headed to the airport on August 15th 2019. The TSA broke into one of my suitcases to remove my shaving razor (which was totally legal since it was under the plane) and left my suitcase open where most of my clothing... might still be floating around somewhere and one container of the cash that I was bringing with

GoFest make-up day wrap-up from Australia (Melbourne)
Hi everyone! Just like the actual event days, I thought I would do a wrap-up of the make-up day now that its finished here :-) Let me know if I missed any information in the comments!
General gameplay:
- Unown is ONLY on incense, so make sure you run that incense for the whole 3 hours to maximise your chances. Please note: we've had no reports across NZ or Eastern Australia of shiny unowns, however reports have come out of Asia after our event time ended.
- Unown will spawn the whole event time, irrespective of which habitat you are in.
- Incense only lasts 1 hour each, so stack it up so you don't forget.
- Incense spawn rate was about 1 every 30 seconds or so - catch quickly to take advantage of this.
- You also get a free box with 2 remote raid passes & 2 incense in the shop.
- No Rotoms from photobombs this time.
- No extra T5 raids this time, only Genesect at normal spawn rates.

🔥 A green meteor off the coast of Australia
Renting is horrible in Australia.
I'm fucking sick of feeling like a third rate citizen just because I rent.
It's bad enough that 3 monthly we have to invite strangers into our homes to judge us. It's bad enough I have to worry every time one tiny scratch or mark happens. It's bad enough that I can't have pets because with 3 kids that's already hard enough to find a decent rental. I'm poor. Rent takes a majority of my money. I can rarely have a break. I haven't had a holiday in years. I am unemployed and severely mentally ill and physically disabled. I can't keep doing this.
The landlords refuse to fix things. The landlords complain that our own personal possessions are not neat and tidy (I have piles of stuff on my desk). I can't live my life freely in my own fucking home.
I will probably never be able to afford my own home and I am nearly 40. I pay the bills. I pay rent on time every time. I let all the trades etc. come in whenever they need to. I am a walkover because I can't afford to continually move house.
