My army reserve unit is deploying to the middle east soon. I want to ensure my Soldiers are able to communicate securely among each other without worrying about either state or criminal actors intercepting their communication.
Soldiers will have access to their smart phones but will not have local phone plans. Will they still be able to use Signal just via WiFi, without an actual cell phone number?
Do you have any advice on ways I can implement secure communication between Soldiers? Note: we will not transmit operational information or use it as any form of official communication, I just want to make sure Soldiers can communicate securely between themselves.

I saw a post recently saying Diamine Oxblood is an austere ink. I couldn't agree more. Maybe it could be called dramatic, or intense, too? I really like this idea : I use my fountain pen for writing notes for work and an austere ink makes me feel like a boss (I am not a boss, and don't particularly want to become one, but you get the idea... )
I work for a bank if it can provide any more context, ha!
So, beside the classic black inks (and Oxblood, obviously), what are some austere inks that you like?

My deepest thanks to everyone who enjoyed yesterday's short cyberpunk story. If you enjoyed that one, I have a feeling you'll enjoy this one even more. At a little over 9,000 words it serves as the centerpiece of my new 15-story sci-fi anthology.
This story takes light inspiration from Harlan Ellison's "All The Lies That Are My Life," a lot of inspiration from an experience I had on a forum a few years ago, and mainly attempts to begin constructing a fictional Colorado as compelling and lifelike as Stephen King's fictional Maine.
