Around 15 nullsec regions had most, if not all of their asteroid belts deleted.

These belts had been broken for months, they did not spawn asteroids at all which was dumb enough on its own. What they did still have though, are belt rats. Personally i live in the area around Great Wildlands and Curse. Curse has no belt rats left, which entirely deletes an officer npc from the game, and the wildlands only has 6 systems with belts left.

Belt ratting was a nice and simple thing to do and get a few rare spawns with. Not to mention the belts' purposes in roaming.

The belticided regions: Providence, catch, impass, feythabolis, omist, teneriffs, immensea, curse, detorid, wicked creek, scalding pass, great wildlands, insmother, cache, the spire (partially), etherium reach (partially), malpais (partially), outer passage (partially), the kalevala expanse (partially), perrigen falls (partially), oasa (a lot), cobalt edge (a lot).

My suggestions to fix this:

Ideally, restore the asteroid belts, and make asteroids spawn in them like they used to a while ago.

Or, change the now "deleted" asteroid belts into "depleted asteroid fields" which dont spawn asteroids, but spawn rats. Miners can remove these from their overview, so the quality of life of this change remains.

No traffic between Asteroid Belt and Mars until you reach rank 10

In my game the terran sectors dried up and stopped producing. Then I looked at the accelerator between Mars and the Asteroid belt (from the asteroid belt side).

There was 0 traffic coming through.

I decided to get to rank 10, and suddenly there were hundreds of freighters flying past. To me, it seemed that the sectors opened up to everyone once I reached a certain rank, and not just to me.

Has anyone else seen this as well, or could this have been due to mods I'm running?

Edit: before and after images Notice the line of trade ships suddenly rushing to resupply the outer sectors.

I wish I didn't have to fight in asteroid belts all the time

edit: Video proof of what I'm talking bout: https://youtu.be/mPQseMvghvo (5 sec video, I hit an invisible rock. Happens too me at least once a night in a 1.5-2 hr bounty hunt session)

update: Found the issue on Issue Council I'm not crazy!! Added my video to it: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/community/issue-council/star-citizen-alpha-3/STARC-139610-Invisible_Asteroids (Please help vote on this crappy bug)

Original complaint below (I didnt realize this was a freakin' known bug and I cant change the flair of this post into "BUG"):

One thing I love about flight arcade/sims (AC7, Wingman, etc) is the devs don't feel compelled to fill the battlefield with a bunch of sh*t I gotta navigate around. I'm just fighting in the air. If I want to see pretty backgrounds I can just look down and see a city or something.

And before y'all say, "OMG! This is a space sim ofc every battelfield is filled with sh*t to navigate around". I will counter in eve online (mouse clicker) thats not the case. Elite: Dangerous- you only see them at "resource sites". But your typical "mission" you'll be fighting in open space.

But for some reason in SC, every single bounty hunting mission has a crapton of space debris and junk. It's starting to drive me nuts so I know I'm gonna have to cut back my playtime for the time being. But the #1 thing that kills my ships is never the NPCs- it's all the space sh*t I gotta constantly dodge. Now that I'm a vet this is extremely rare but if I'm not paying attn then BAM- I've run into a stationary rock. Even a tiny little pebble that my huge spaceship should just plow through!!!

Some missions should have asteroids and space junk sure. But not every single one! Anyway, I know it's "alpha" and its ok for now but I hope this gets resolved before we go beta (whenever that is).

Surely this "complaint" has been made before right? I just cant recall seeing it posted here and come here all the time

edit: Perhaps my post would be more constructive if I simply asked in Q&A section for a popular Issue Council thing to vote on. It's gotta be a bug or huge oversight a tiny freakin pebble will blow up our ships. I will do that as well.

Asteroid belts, Or how CCP broke 3 things with a single blow.

A little over 3 weeks ago CCP team Eco System release their Ore redistribution patch shuffling around ores in New Eden to make certain mineral types unique to their zone of play (HS/LS/NS). This meant a large group of ore types were removed from nullsec leaving the space more barren. This in it self is not necessarily a bad thing (can be argued and has been) with the idea in mind, that Eco Systems plan for redistribution is an ongoing project and only the future will tell.

However, when they applied this redistribution they seemed to have missed some pretty significant systems within the game that got impacted by the change to a point where they broke. The removal of ore types created a large quantity of systems within eve that has been left completely void of any ore within their asteroid belts the number of nullsec systems without ore is approximately 35.7% and are mainly distributed within the southern regions. The distribution can be see in the following chart, where the highlighted blue segments still have ore, while the none highlighted don't have a single rock within their asteroid belts. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/411624243739230208/771709380357783653/unknown.png

As mentioned previously this breaks a couple of systems (features) within the game that are reliant upon asteroid belt ore remaining in them.

  • The first of these systems are sovindexes where after some testing on the Singularity server it has now been proven that if a system falls under a truesec level of 4 (on the chart) there is not even enough ore within asteroid belts to acquire industry index level 1 by clearing out every single belt in the system, unless the system has more than 15 belts which is not very common.

This creates a problem where the basic means of increasing industry indexes of newly acquired systems are limited to randomly spawning ore anomalies or icebelts. (added you can moon mine)

  • The second system to be broken is Diamond rats which has had their functionality partly broken by this change.

Firstly cause their mechanic of players killing NPC Haulers for Excavator blueprints & faction drone BPC's have been removed, as said haulers never appear as there is no ore to be collected from the miners warping around.

Secondly due to an issue with the change (unknown why) action towards the miners make them warp to deepsafes within the systems without ore which is not a phenomenon that occurred before the change.

  • The third system to be broken

How likely are asteroids to contain tin, assuming we looked for it in Near-Earth Asteroids or in the Asteroid Belt?

I ask for the sake of a science fiction novel I’m writing.

In the novel, one minor plot point involves a spacefaring civilization in the setting that spent too much of their homeworld’s tin physically exporting alloys to their allies. This eventually forces them to start exporting the blueprint for the alloy instead, and import tin from nearby asteroids for on-world construction. However, tin isn’t completely absent from this planet, just extremely expensive and rare.

I’m curious whether it’s realistic for a civilization to seek tin from asteroids before their planetary sources completely run out.

What is the true speed of asteroids in the Main Belt?

When I search for the speed of asteroids in the Main Belt, when it tells me an answer, how do I evaluate this number? For instance, if I launch a fictional spaceship and I want to land on the asteroid, what speed do I need to be going? The nominal speed that the answer says? Because the Earth has some velocity as it goes around the Sun, and the Sun has some velocity, and the galaxy has some velocity as well. Thus, when I google for what the speed of an asteroid in the main belt is, do I need to add/subtract anything (I'm not sure with what reference this is taken from, I'm assuming it is not absolute).

Alternatively, if I launch a spaceship from Earth at escape velocity, what is the true speed of my spaceship // does it matter if everything is measured from Earth's reference frame?

Comets, meteors, and asteroid belts

So like most I have started to run out of resources, I feel like adding more resources available would help. These are my ideas, comets, these can be a great source for liquids and gases. Asteroid belts, you can set up a factory/machine to mine and destroy these asteroids these can give you copper, iron, titanium, kimberlite, etc. Meteors, this one is a bit of a stretch but for early game this can be a great source for titanium. Now this wasn’t in the title but I have seen people request it. Planetary rings, so like gas giants you can set up a factory for the rings, this can give you metals, and or debris (computer chips, processors, bars, etc.). I would love to see some new research areas and I feel like this would expand the horizon of possibilities in the game.
