This PS5 Joker art from 2016 looks suspiciously similar to u/thewickedren's Albedo: https://twitter.com/p5mrgn/status/805242895410180097 (This tweet is likely not the original source, but it's as far back as I could find.)
Not only did they copy someone else's art and enter a contest with it as their own. Now they're complaining that someone stole their stolen art? https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact/comments/kuacgm/hey_im_that_guy_who_won_the_essing_by_drawing/
The balls this guy has is astounding...
*Drumroll* And the lucky winner is u/LeFriedCupcake, with this comment.
Thanks to your amazing support, Denim is now charting #154 on the Graphics and design category of the App Store, in just 2 days. You've also created a whopping 1000+ playlist covers in 24 hours! This has been a lot of fun and my sincere thanks to all those who commented and downloaded Denim, you're awesome.
I just launched my first app, a playlist cover maker called Denim. Denim helps you make your playlists look great, so I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate its launch than to give the gift of music to someone at random. Here is the prize you could win.
Denim is a playlist cover maker that creates gorgeous cover art, like the ones you may see on Apple’s own playlist. If you’re a music lover, your lovely playlist’s cover no longer has to be a boring picture of 4 album covers mashed together. Denim features over 60+ curated artworks that you can use to create beautiful covers for your own playlist in merely 15 secs. It’s that easy!
Why did I create Denim?
Well, why should playlists created by Apple Music, Spotify, and other streaming giants have all the fun? Aesthetically pleasing covers for their playlists, while yours get a boring slapdash cover?! No way, I believe your playlists reflect your unique taste i... keep reading on reddit ➡
I know ok, I know I'm wrong and I just don't get it, I know I'm not an famous artist and I'll never be close to the genius that Picasso was... But I just don't like it, I don't find it pleasant at all. I don't see how it's supposed to appreciate that. I think that most people say that they like it just because he's one of the most famous painters of all time.
Because he had no Monet to buy Degas to make the Van Gogh.
A month or so back I drew a piece of art of my SO and gave him the original piece, he then posted pics of it on his FB, crediting me.
Fast forward to this week, and I found out that his mom had pulled one of the pictures off of FB and had it printed onto a canvas, to gift to my SO/her son for Xmas.
I expressed to him that it bothered me, both from a personal standpoint but also a legal standpoint, as it is art theft. He got defensive about it even though I didn’t explicitly call his mom a thief, but I did have to explain WHY it is art theft, regardless of whether it was his mom or someone else.
So am I the asshole for bothering to bring it up? Because I debated on whether I should even say anything.
Edit for clarifications: I never spoke to SOs mom, I only brought up how I felt to my SO, and I have no intention is suing. My SO asked for permission before posting the photos of the physical, paper art piece on FB, which he already has on his wall.
Edit for closure: I expressed how I felt to SO, he then expressed to his mom that while I was flattered, I would have appreciated being asked first, but that I am not mad at her, “it’s just an artist thing” were his direct words to her. She took it amicably.
