Not gonna type an entire essay or something, but I just want to say what I have in my mind. TL;DR in the bottom. Also feel free to point out any mistakes or extra info.
Blue Archive is coming to global BUT it is gonna be published by Nexon Global. Now this is bad for a few reasons, mainly one, which is both the publisher and the developer of the game is Nexon. And this is bad because they have basically full control over what they want to do with the game and its rates.
The problem lies on Nexon being disingenuous AF while also being opaque towards their playerbase, take for example Maplestory(an RPG) which recently had a major drama about cubing rates and how some lines have higher rates than others, giving certain classes easier progression than others, meanwhile it always was thought that the rates were equal for all lines due the rates, well, not being mentioned anywhere. There are other cases when it comes to Nexon being opaque AF when it comes to certain rates but I haven't followed anything regarding MS and its only irrelavant to talk more about it.
Nexon is a disingenuous company, yes. But they also milk the ever living hell out of games before nuking them off the planet, sometimes less than a year. Quoted from a different post:
Just a quick example of Overhit. Keep in mind, that it was developed by NAT GAMES and published by Nexon global. Basically same as Blue Archive.
Now, I'm not telling you to not play the JP server, or the not touch the global release at all, I might probably still make a global account and reroll for Shiroko just to get her L2D again, and also to read the story, but I'm not gonna stick around much and most probably wou

Today, I wasted an entire working day doing just that.
The Hugo Awards are one of the most important awards in science fiction and fantasy - they're the genre fiction equivalent of the Oscars, awarded to the best SFF works published the previous year in a bunch of categories (currently 15 (+2 Not A Hugo)* permanent categories, plus occasional temporary categories). The big difference between the two is that while the Oscars are voted on by members of the Academy for Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which has relatively stringent membership criteria, the Hugos are voted on by the members of the World Science Fiction Society, which is made up of whoever is prepared to shell out ~$50 for membership. Being able to put "Hugo Award-winning author" on your book covers is a big deal - it's generally considered one of only a handful of awards where this actually makes a difference to your sales.
The Archive Of Our Own (AO3) is a fanfiction archive first proposed in 2007, which entered open beta in 2009. The impetus for this was twofold. Firstly, existing fanfic spaces (fanfiction.net, livejournal) were increasingly showing that they were at the mercy of site owners - and outside interests such as advertisers who didn't want unwholesome content associated with their brands - deleting works which they didn't like, sometimes without warning and despite the content complying with the site's Terms of Service.** Secondly, a commercial project called FanLib, run by a bunch of people who had no existing fandom experience and funded by venture capital, had just been set up as a panfandom archive: this was widely seen as an attempt by outsiders to exploit fans for profit.
So in 2007, a fan called Astolat wrote an LJ post which is arguably one of the founding documents of modern transformative works fandom: you can read it here on Fanlore. Another well-known fan, Csperanza, posted in early 2008 supporting the project, and her opening line, "Because I want us to own the goddamned servers, ok? Because I want a place where we can't be TOSed and where no one can turn the lights off or try to dictate t

The site, as I remember it, is very basic and you could download a bunch of .txt files with relevant practical knowledge. From farming, medicine books, to manuals how to fix mechanic equipment.
Hey fellow readers. Over the course of the pandemic last year I started to get into reading once again, namely with a lot of Murakami and the ASOIAF books. So after reading a couple of smaller series like Broken Earth, Broken Empire and so on I went into my first Sanderson series Mistborn, which I thought was pretty good just nothing special.
Now let's get to Stormlight. I recently read the first three books in the series after reading the first four Malazan books cause I wanted a change of pace. I went into the books with really high expectations since a lot of the books on Goodreads have higher scores than some of my favourite books like ASOIAF, The Name of the Wind, The Lies of Locke Lamora and the Farmer Trilogy, furthermore this sub always recommends it.
Then I read the first three books and I got to be honest. I was a bit underwhelmed, even tho I was expecting them to not be as good as said just based on the fact that Sanderson is really good at Worldbuildung and Hard Magic Systems, both probably my least important things I am looking for in a fantasy series and not so good at characters and dialogue.
First and foremost I really love this world I think it's interesting and even the magic systems is kinda cool with the spren and the stormlight it's all pretty cool. It just feels kinda hollow to me still, like I feel like the world is said to be this big thing but we spend most of our time at like 4 locations and the rest of the world is still in mystery. I enjoy the action packed scenes and everything it sometimes feels as if I was watching one of those Marvel Superhero movies, but I feel like the action started to get a bit stale and repetitive but it was still okay.
My biggest issues with this series are the writing and the characters tho. For the writing style there is not really any discussion to be had because it just comes down to preference, I enjoy a bit more of a flowery prose like a Hobb or Rothfuss and Sanderson is very direct and minimalistic with his writing style in the way that it just feels like a window for us to see his story, on the other hand with Rothfuss it feels like it's a coloured window and the writing style is part of the story. Sanderson did get better at writing imo, in Mistborn he used a lot of the same words in every sentenced and it was starting to get annoying, the only comparable thing is in Stormlight they always slam the door hahahah the poor doors can't you just open them normally.
The characters in my opin

I have two friends who are just.... so snobbish and so high and mighty about their liking of Brandon Sanderson, and they're so condescending about my interests, even though I try my best to support them in their interests (sending them memes, letting them know about announcements since they don't have twitter/reddit) I've just made up my mind to not like this book because of my pride (happy june btw) but I feel like reading it with this mindset is just unfair, to the book, and the author. So... how do I swallow my pride?
Fighting Robot Archive has recently seemed to go down, as a lot of you may know this was the only library of Comedy Central Era Battlebots and TLC's Robotica that was openly available to be watched. This entire channel and its hundreds of hours of content are now completely gone.
Ontop of that, Blooper-Sploof (the one who does the fight compilations) recently posted today they got hit with their 2nd of 3 Copyright strikes, with some of their videos being taken down.
My own channel RBCnetwork has also, with 2 of the Battlebots 2.0 Episodes I uploaded nearly a Decade ago being shot down and I'm now left with a strike on my channel also.
I know Votesaxon and a few others have been having trouble with Youtube lately, even more people outside of the Robot Combat circle have also. I dont know if theres anything we can actually do about this but I feel like it does need to be spoken about
I don't want to doom say, maybe all that content will still be accessible forever. But we are now entering a period where hypothetically Red Venture could randomly shut down the site with out warning. On the off chance that does happen, it would be good if the community had set to work archiving everything, even the premium videos, so they can be uploaded and accessed at a later date.
Hey guys. Happy Star Wars Day! How y'all doing? Not too bad, I hope??
Haven't posted here for awhile, but thought some of you may find this useful...
I have made an archive of all the sound effects we have given away at Sonniss over the years. It's 150GB in total. Thousands of files. Absolute insanity if you ask me.... you'll probably need a new hard drive for all of this (Sorry about that) :D Total value of this archive is about $30,000 (roughly) - They're the actual files we sell (nothing has been cut, edited or modified)
Everything is royalty-free and commercially usable. No attribution is required and you can use them on an unlimited number of projects for the rest of your lifetime.
Once you have downloaded the files, please help by sharing, seeding or uploading them to mirrors. Thank you in advance. If you can throw any seedboxes my way please do! (I am not sure how much our servers can take).
We usually give these sounds away at GDC, but because of Covid, everything is up in the air at the moment. I will be releasing the next edition in July. So if you already have the past files, please ignore this post. It's just a collection of everything we have previously released to make mine and your life easier. (I am forever sharing links to multiple reddit posts, but I wont need to any more)
Visit the website now to download the files: https://sonniss.com/gameaudiogdc (permanent link)

... keep reading on reddit β‘Hey everyone, I've started to collate books from different reddit posts and put them all in a spreadsheet
I've got 160ish so far, can we get to 1,000?
Post yours and I will add it to the sheet
Five examples:
The Arcane Act of Spell Weaving and its Profane works in the History of our Great Empire. Written by Illidan Windwalker, half-elf sorceror and Professor of Magic History at the University of Vinlheim. This book was penned by Illidan during his second decade as a Professor of Magic History at the University of Vinlheim. The book has since been published in many copies and can be found in most libraries and book shops. The original still remains in the office of Professor Windwalker, who is working to update it and publish a revised second edition. In the pages of the book, readers may find the foundation of spellcraft, spells and runes lost to History that Illidan recovered, and historical information as to how specific spells have been used in the Empire.
Death Is Not The Final Stage Written by Lord Halford Fairfax, Human Necromancer, sanctioned by the priesthood of Old Stone. A lengthy book about ghosts, spirits and the afterlife. Details many rituals describing resurrection and the maintenance of soul keeping. It's a fairly populair book amongst Necromancers, although not many of the books exist.
Demons Are Your Best Friends Written by the late human Arianna Wildfoot, during her studies in the stronghold of Deema. This book contain an intricade study of demonoly, both the description of many demons along with their method of summoning. There are stories going around about one page being hidden inside the book, which contain the ritual to summon Arianna herself. Probably just rumors.
Don't Eat This Book Written by Naomi Persnipperance, to prevent further mistakes amongst her tribe. As the title would suggest, this book is all about surviving in the wild. Which herbs to eat, what mushroom to pluck, and what you can do to help people turned to stone by basilisks. Has a handy cheat sheet where you can look up if the stuff you just ate is going to kill you or not.
Will This Kill Me? Written by the rather odd goblin Iggy Stiggums, date/location of scripture unknown. A rare book about the alchemy of poisons, and a study of poison in the wild. In the back there is a short section about his personal life, and how he endured the many stings and bites he has received.
