All of my adult life I have weighed about 145 lbs at 5’6”. That is pretty normal and I looked good but it bummed me out that I work so hard to be just normal. I learned about Stephanie buttermore and how I could stop counting calories if I just gave myself unconditional freedom to eat...my weight would go up but then after time it would come back down and normalize.
Obviously, that definitely didn’t happen. After 1 year I had done from normal weight to obese, gaining 50 lbs steadily with no signs of stopping. I felt disgusting, could barely walk from the pain in my feet due to such rapid weight increase, had terrible headaches everyday, couldn’t sleep, and generally spent most of my time wishing I would just die. I WAS LITERALLY NORMAL BEFORE THIS. I kept believing it would work.
Finally I quit. I got a Fitbit and counted calories and have lost a lot of the weight now. I feel incredible. Literally, what the fuck was I thinking.
I literally dont understand the point of this. I'm going to the mall day after day approaching 5 to 10 women a day and getting literally nowhere. What is supposed to he happening? My social skills arent improving. It's either a hard "NO" or a variation of no such as "I have a bf" I cant even get to the point of conversation. Its mentally and emotionally draining doing this constantly with no hope that anything will improve. Any advice is welcome.
I went into an assisted living home to deliver a package and there was this cute girl sitting in the waiting room by the elevator.
So I told myself, after i drop off this package, I'm going to talk to her and get her number.
As I'm waiting for the elevator, I can see her staring at me, then when I looked up, she'll look away. So I'm telling myself, I'm going to do it
I go up, drop the package off and get back into the elevators to complete my mission.
As I'm going down the elevator, I'm hyping myself up
"yeah, boycott-Mondays, you the man, you can do this, you the MF man". I felt like I was a rapper about to hop on stage at a concert.
The elevator doors open and my anxiety went to danger level, but I kept to it. I go up to her and confidently relay the line I was practicing a 1000 times in the elevator
"I saw you over there and I thought you're cute, what's your name?"
She said "hmmm"?
At this point my anxiety was about to go into full Ludacris mode, but I spoke louder
"I saw you over there and I thought you're cute, what's your name?"
She looked even more confused
Then I realized something, she doesn't speak any English, she only speaks creole... Lucky I speak a little bit of creole to ask her in her language, do you speak any English?
She said no.
I was able to ask for her name and was able to ask her how she was doing and bye... That's all I knew in her language
How did I do?
In 2018, the DNC had a pretty simple task of running candidates for federal office as anti-Trump resistors, but who were not too Left for their districts. They recruited military vets, good gov. types, and in deeper blue districts, bold progressives even in Red states.
The result was upwards of 40 net seats in the House, flipping several governor races, and protecting Red state Senate incumbents like Tester and Manchin.
As the landscape of the 2022 election unfolds with Republicans itching to take back control of the House and Senate, what strategies, tactics, and recruitments do you think the GOP will employ to win back control of Congress given how close the margin is currently?
What issues will they use against Democrats (wokeness, defund the police, crime, immigration, school reopenings, etc.) and what types of candidates will they recruit?
How large of a role will Trump have in the elections, especially considering his banishment from social media?
If the GOP wins in 2022 what will be the primary reason why?
Is the craft actually “ricocheting” off of the atmosphere, or is the angle of entry just too shallow to penetrate? I feel like the films always make it seem like they’d just be shot off into space forever, but what would really happen and why? Would they actually escape earths gravity at their given velocity, or would they just have such a massive orbit that the length of the flight would outlast their remaining supplies?
This is totally just a vent, but holy shit I am so tired of hearing about this. Everywhere online and even out in the real world you hear PAs and NPs talk about how "they're trained to treat the whole patient, not just the disease! First of all this is meaningless, buzzword bullshit but second of all -- all we fucking talk about in medical school is the whole patient! Every lecture talks about keeping the biopsychosocial approach in mind, taking a holistic approach, thinking about social determinants of health etc etc etc. We have entire courses dedicated to this type of stuff. I am so tired of hearing that as an MD I won't understand the whole patient. It's such bullshit and I don't know why we as physicians continue to tolerate this disrespect towards our profession. It's really insulting and infuriating. End rant I guess.
New, powerful and cool-looking Trials loot last season despite the fact that Trials is an absolute nightmare to the average player.
No new Iron Banner set in over a year despite the fact that Iron Banner is far more accessible to players than Trials.
No specific rewards for the Competitive playlist since
Balancing (and often ruining) things in PvE based on their power in PvP and Gambit despite the fact that we haven't gotten new PvP or Gambit content in almost TWO YEARS.
People say that the reason that we haven't gotten a new PvP map in so long is because Bungie doesn't want to put dev time into a F2P thing, yet we got a whole new strike and two ported ones last season, not to mention Prophecy and VoG.
And if the real reason PvP has gotten no new content is because the team that makes maps and stuff is going to work at a new game, what on EARTH makes Bungie think they can manage a PvP-focused game based on the way they handle Destiny PvP?
I work in a male-dominated field where I meet a lot of new people and a lot of older, inappropriate scrotes 🤮🤮. 9/10 they try to flirt or set up a date because god forbid they believe politeness is just politeness and not a come on. I used to ignore it out of misplaced shame from thinking it’s my fault (amazing how deep this shit runs), but through FDS I’ve learned it’s absolutely not. I eventually came up with a way to ward off the grossness - that is making them feel embarrassed and ashamed of even thinking about it, mainly by making an exaggerated “ew” face or bringing up their age in a grossed out way whenever they attempt to get cheeky. It stops them in their tracks and deflates their ego completely so I get no repeat offenders. I absolutely love it lol.
To the lurking scrotes that’ll inevitably rage at this, this is my new fetish; don’t kink-shame me 💁🏾♀️

Science evolves solely through skepticism, and the growing trend of listening to "the experts" without questioning the experts methodology and identities is halting the scientific method as a whole.
EDIT : I just want to add, most scientists are obviously well informed on their fields of study, but they are also human, and may succumb to pressures, incentives and cognitive biases like the rest of us.
EDIT 2 : I think my wording is being misconstrued. What I am saying is, instead of proxying our sense making to questionable sources, we should try to make sense of matters through questioning the source material. People don't want to put in the work to understand the science they defend with a religious fervor even in layman's terms.
How far removed is this source of information from the empirical study? Who funded the study? What other endeavors does the funding agency partake in? Are there any other reputable sources with conflicting information that have been buried by a narrative?
I am not talking about questioning the fields of study, I am talking about practicing good epistemology and better judging the purity of the information we receive, and share.
EDIT 3 : Thank you for the awards.

This conversation is based on the thoughts u/modernmedusaa and I have regarding this matter.
We hear constant complaints about women who are conventionally attractive, even model-tier, who don't get approached by men in person ever. Or if they do get approached by men in person, its few and far between.
Unfortunately, women who don't get approached in person feel like something is wrong with their looks. Questioning your entire self worth and confidence based on if men approach you or not is not the play!
The world is riddled with LV men who ARE intimidated by you because you're strikingly beautiful and a HVW! Men are terrified of rejection and avoid women they wouldn't have a chance with in a million years like the plague. Your appearance may be out of this world, you carry yourself with elegance and class, and your outfits scream high maintenance. When I say high maintenance in this regard, I don't mean you're outfitted head to toe in designer clothing. You dress modestly, have properly tailored garments, and your color palette isn't garish. You aren't dressed to be a LV mans ideal target. They KNOW that they'll never be able to meet your demands or your standards.
Remember that LV men will go after women they assume are insecure based on her actions or the way she presents herself.
Why do you think men will approach and go after the scantily clad woman at a bar who might be a bit average in the looks department, as opposed to the woman who is gorgeous and dressed modestly? These men assume that the scantily clad woman is insecure and dying for the attention of a man, hence they are drawn to her and are willing to approach. By no means am I shaming people for their outfit choices, everyone is free to dress how they please. From my own personal experience, when I dress scantily clad, I get SWARMED with attention from LV men. Their end goal is obviously to try and sleep with me. Men like this objectify woman based on how she presents herself alone, without getting to know her as an individual. And the opposite reigns true, when I dress modest/extremely feminine, men ARE intimidated by me and very few men approach. The few men that do approach usually have similar values as mine and treat me with respect until we part ways.
Looking high maintenance will filter out many LV men, but unfortunately not all of them.
So please always remember that you CAN be intimidatingly beautiful! It's totally OK that you... keep reading on reddit ➡

I am an aspiring real estate investor and will soon have enough cash to get started. When I first learned about leverage, I loved the idea. But then I stared running the numbers and adding up expenses.
Property management fees (if you have one), mortgage payment, renovations, maintenance, legal fees, accounting fees, realtor fees, closing costs, property taxes, federal taxes, state taxes, vacancy expense, etc.
I have to wonder, how do RE investors make a profit? It seems like you need to put a 35% + down payment to create good cash flow. I understand the whole concept of leverage and appreciation, but at the end if the day, you are running a business and need to have positive cash flow.
Would it be better to just take the Dave Ramsey 100% cash approach? Obviously I’d have to delay my investing for a few more years, but I don’t see where the profit comes from otherwise. I’m sure I must be missing something because so many investors successfully use debt. My goal is not only wealth building, but financial freedom and cash flow too. Thanks!
Problem:- CSGO MM is cheat infested, overwatch is broken, vac-net still not ready, vac is outdated/limited, csgo is f2p, trust factor(hello?, no one knows how it works)
The esports community has already accepted Valorant and its anti-cheat, which has brought the hackers to a minimal if not to zero.
Even, if we talk about CSGO Community people already know the limitations of Source code and VAC anti-cheat as a whole, and even they have accepted ESEA, FaceIT and other third party apps as a general solution to avoid hackers which has their own intruive anticheat.
CSGO Community is already divided by prime & nonprime, trust and non-trust matchmaking and other third party applications but it should be instead divided by people using intruive anti-cheat and other who dont use them.
The concern from the community was 7 years ago, the technology has vastly increased and no one is forced to use the intrusive anti-cheat but instead should be queued/divided into trust and non-trust mm.
Link to the post 7 years ago- https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/1y70ej/valve_vac_and_trust/
Solution(possibly?) - Even if Valve thinks it is too late to develop an intrusive anti-cheat, they can simply try to buy anti-cheat licences from Faceit or ESEA for an year (or just integrate them in) and ask the users/players to pay as an anticheat/overwatch pass or an operation.
TLDR- It is high time for CSGO/Valve to deal with cheaters, they need to rethink about their anti-cheat approach, they are losing genuine playerbase and players who love the game.

I'm (23F) tired of having women occupy my mind so frequently. Every time there is a lull in my day, my brain is daydreaming about interactions I've had (or would like to have) with women.
I've been single for 6mo since my three year relationship ended. This is the longest I've been single since I was 17. As a graduate student focused on getting things done most of the time, I understand that I'm probably experiencing burnout and loneliness. I'm human, after all.
However, I receive a substantial amount of attention from both men and women, which reinforces my obsessive daydreaming. While their comments are flattering, it's distracting because it will not lead anywhere. Many of these women are hours away from me or are otherwise inaccessible (e.g., emotionally unavailable, straight, etc).
I abstain from social media as the FOMO and comparison culture is insidious. However, I feel drawn to it when I am interested in someone. I go from not having an online presence for weeks to obsessively checking if that person has interacted with my posts. If they don't interact, it makes me feel like garbage. Then I keep checking the apps anyway.
Instead, I want to focus on applying for PhD programs in the fall. That's very much within my control, but I feel like I'm blowing my chance. Fantasizing without intervention is becoming obtrusive to the things that actually are real in my life and that I actually care about.
I posted in a different subreddit regarding this problem, but I don't think I framed the issue properly. The comments were trying to convince me to give myself a break (which is very kind response), but that's part of the problem. By giving myself a break for so long, I've created a problem.
I'm tired of investing resources into relationships that are bad fit for me just because I'm lonely. I'm also tired of using all of my cognitive resources on daydreaming about things that won't happen, making myself feel bad by creeping on social media profiles, and procrastinating on the things that actually matter to chase after women.
I want to focus on what is actually within my control. That will give me relief.
TL;DR: I (23F) want to be laser focused on achieving my goals (e.g., my graduate work, research, PhD apps). My wandering eye is derailing me. There has to be a way for me to get a grip instead of being distracted by indulging these thoughts all the time. What would the stoic approach to this problem be?
Please be kind - this is my first time... keep reading on reddit ➡
On one hand, I can understand women wanting their man to be confident, and approach them.
However, I see many women talking about not being able to find a good man to love.
If you are a woman, and you see a man that you wish would approach you, approach him.
Don't approach romantically, but friendly. Just ask a simple trivial question about him.
If this man is single, and finds you attractive, he will naturally find a way to see you again.
Even as a man of confidence in talking to women, I still don't approach women unless I see a good reason to in that moment. Even if they take my breath away, a lot of the time I won't because of social normalities.
I know a lot of good men who approach women even less than I do (by a lot).
You ladies could be missing some decent (healthy and educated) men who just don't want to scare you, but are still confident in other aspects.
Luckily for you, you are not going to scare them. (At least in the same way lol).
So my news feed today was full of Gwyneth Paltrow's skincare routine and reactions.
"In the video, which was swiftly criticised by dermatologists, Paltrow explains that she uses a “clean mineral sunscreen” because “there are a lot of really harsh chemicals in conventional sunscreen, so that’s a product that I really want to avoid.” She then goes on to apply her chosen SPF in a bafflingly minimal way, explaining, “I’m not a head-to-toe slatherer of sunscreen, but I like to put some kind of on my nose and the area where the sun really hits.” She lightly pats a touch of the product across the bridge of her nose and over her cheeks, as if it were little more than a cream highlighter"
I am still in shock after watching.
ETA - SHE IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH OR OWN SUPERGOOP.
