DRAFT: I have done my best to summarize the GME MOASS Thesis in a way that hopefully appeals to individuals outside of this community. I was thinking about reposting before opening bell tomorrow with updates depending on feedback I get tonight. Intention is for it to be a starting point prior to DD

Updated version - https://www.reddit.com/r/Superstonk/comments/nletnn/gme_the_mother_of_all_short_squeezes_moass_thesis/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Intro:

This post will give a relatively simplistic breakdown of the current situation and landscape of GameStop Stock, or GME (its name on the New York Stock Exchange NYSE), and to summarize the theory that it will soon reach astronomical levels during a market event known as a Short Squeeze. For specifically, this theory is the MOASS (Mother of All Short Squeezes) Thesis.

The core intention of the post is to summarize the MOASS Thesis for investors who are not fully up to speed on it, as well as those who are newer to the stock market in general, and are interested in investing. That being said, this writeup is NOT intended to serve as a source of proof/evidence behind this theory, and it operates under the assumption that the theory is valid and that the conditions it is built on are met. For those who intend to dig further into the evidence supporting the theory, there is a massive amount of research and due diligence that has been performed and documented around this theory that can be found here, though it is recommended to use this post to get a basic understanding before digging into the Due Diligence.

Important terms to know before getting into the β€œExplanation”

These terms are key to understanding the theory and speculated value of a GME investment. Hyperlinks to Investopedia, "the world's leading source of financial content on the web", have been included for most market terms and concepts, and it is recommended to check them out if they are not clear. We will be breaking down some of the more complex terms and concepts within the post and framing them within the context of GME.

Long Position / Buying/Selling Stock

  • When an investor buys a stock, they are considered long on it
  • In other words, holders of long positions have a positive number of shares
  • To close a long position the owner would sell their shares on the stock market

The basic idea behind obtaining long position is:

  1. Buy the stock
  2. Hold it until the price of it increases to a desired amount
  3. Sell it for a profit

Am I spoiled by micro four thirds lenses or just too picky? The m43 platform is dwindling but it feels like no one else wants to capture their appeal.

That appeal is small, compact, slower lenses that are still tack sharp.

Just a rant here. I've been shooting micro four thirds for the better part of a decade and I'm sure that there are dozens out there like me....but I love that when I go hiking our outdoors I can literally fit 2 lenses in my pocket or the belt strap pocket on my backpack and swap to them in seconds, from ultra-wide prime to a kit lens, pancake or even a telephoto.

https://i.imgur.com/V3hyKjd.png the amount of versatility that can fit in the palm of my hand is crazy. I can go from getting a wide angle 18mm equivalent shot of a coastline, to a 40mm candid-portrait of my wife to a 200mm equivalent tele shot without missing a stride. I can also carry a 1.5lbs backpacker tripod on overnight hikes that is stable because of how light the camera is. It makes photography fun (for me, it's perfectly fine if you'd compromise those things for faster and bigger gear).

But I can't give that up, I can't ever go back to carrying around a gear bag and lug stuff around that I have to drop on the ground just so I can swap to another lens.

I'm also spoiled. If I want a zoom lens I have like 10 choices that can range from 12-32, 12-35, 12-40, 12-45, 12-55, 12-60, 14-42, 14-45, 14-140, etc... all in different aperture choices. I can go slightly wider , slightly longer, faster, smaller/lighter, etc... I have so many options.

I've had my eye on APS-C and full frame systems for a while now and can never make the jump because there is always going to be too much compromise. Sony recently came so close and I'm still on the fence. I could definitely see me going around with an 18mm/2.8, 40mm f2.5 (wish it was a little faster), but I would want a sharp kit lens to round it out with. My options are a 24-70 f4 the size of my forearm or a plasticky 28-60mm that they have the balls to charge $500+ for. The problem with that is 24mm is my favourite focal length for landscapes, and I'd either have to leave it out or carry around yet another lens - because Sony or 3rd parties have NO other choices.

I look at Nikon and they announced some cool lenses. The 40mm f2 sounds like a dream, the 24-50 ticks another box, but the system is locked down, there are no small/cheap/sharp primes like there are for everything else and doesn't sound like there will be any soon. The bodies are also massive, even the Z5.

Canon mirrorless....doesn't seem to have anything yet.

Sony APS-C, they have 1 sharp zoom lens again the size of my

A federal judge overturned California's assault weapons ban (though stayed to allow for appeal) and called it a "failed experiment." What do you think of the ban and the decision? What do you think is California's next move on this issue if they lose again on appeal?

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/05/us/california-assault-weapons-ban.html

>A federal judge in California on Friday overturned the state’s three-decade-old ban on assault weapons, which he called a β€œfailed experiment,” prompting a sharp retort from the state’s governor.

>California prohibited the sale of assault weapons in 1989. The law was challenged in a suit filed in 2019 against the state’s attorney general by plaintiffs including James Miller, a California resident, and the San Diego County Gun Owners, a political action committee.

>The judge, Roger T. Benitez of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, wrote that sections of the state’s penal code that defined assault weapons and restricted their use were β€œhereby declared unconstitutional and shall be enjoined.”

>But the judge said he had granted a 30-day stay of the ruling at the request of Attorney General Rob Bonta, a move that would allow Mr. Bonta to appeal it.

>Judge Benitez wrote that the case was about β€œwhat should be a muscular constitutional right and whether a state can force a gun policy choice that impinges on that right with a 30-year-old failed experiment.”

>β€œIt should be an easy question and answer,” Judge Benitez, who was nominated by former President George W. Bush, continued. β€œGovernment is not free to impose its own new policy choices on American citizens where constitutional rights are concerned.”

>The judge wrote that the firearms banned under the state’s law were not β€œbazookas, howitzers or machine guns,” but rather β€œfairly ordinary, popular, modern rifles.”

>In a statement late Friday, Gov. Gavin Newsom called the ruling β€œa direct threat to public safety and the lives of innocent Californians.”

...

>Mr. Newsom wrote that comparing the gun to a Swiss Army knife β€œcompletely undermines the credibility of this decision and is a slap in the face to the families who’ve lost loved ones to this weapon.”

>In a separate statement, Mr. Bonta called Judge Benitez’s decision β€œfundamentally flawed” and vowed to appeal it.

>β€œThere is no sound basis in law, fact or common sense for equating assault rifles with Swiss Army knives β€” especially on Gun Violence Awareness Day and after the recent shootings in our own California communities,” he said.

Uncharted is the perfect example of a franchise that respects itself and its players. It recognizes its limits and improves with every subsequent sequel. More game developers should aspire to follow their lead instead of watering down franchises for profit and mass appeal.

I was replaying the Uncharted series recently (Uncharted 1 -> 4 and Lost Legacy) and it honestly stood out to me how beautifully crafted this franchise was and how much effort was placed into building the series. I noted a few points I believe other game developers should take note off when crafting a franchise.

1- Story and characters: The first 4 games (and to some extent Lost Legacy) focus on the same protagonists throughout and build up their stories with each subsequent release. The games are consistent with the protagonists' characterization. We grow attached to these characters and fall in love with them as we see them progress over the course of 4 games. By the time the epilogue of the fourth game came around, it felt like we've come full circle with the characters' arcs. It felt fulfilling and nostalgic. The story focused on the same characters throughout the 5 games which strengthened our emotional connection with them. This is unlike franchises that release games with a variety of different protagonists that feel unrelated to one another, simply for the sake of profit. The franchise loses its emotional impact since its difficult to care for characters you just met and said good bye to over the course of a single game.

2- Respects its players: It's clear that the Uncharted games have a lot of effort, heart and passion put into them. Unlike many franchises out there, Assassin's Creed comes to mind, Uncharted took time between subsequent releases (2 years each between the first 3 games and 4.5 years between the 3rd and the 4th) instead of rushing to get out as many games as possible as a cash cow to use the franchise name to make as much profit as possible off of the player. The story and franchise weren't milked for the sake of profit. It knew when to conclude the story of Nathan and did it beautifully instead of ruining his arc and that of the supporting characters by focusing on quantity (profit/ number of games) instead of quality (of the franchise). The series has a ton of replay value as a result of its craft with plenty of incentive for players to visit the games time and time again.

3- Improves with each subsequent release: Each subsequent release of the Uncharted games (considering Lost Legacy as an extension of 4) improves upon its predecessor. They noted what was missing in the previous releases and improved upon it. Now some people prefer 2 to 3, but one can't deny that they are still both on the same tier and that Un

Source: https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/31444897/transformational-period-nba-ongoing-fight-regain-financial-footing

> Around 75% of the NBA's players have been vaccinated, sources said, and commissioner Adam Silver continues to appeal to front-office executives to encourage further player participation ahead of the start of the playoffs next week. Beyond the broader health benefits of vaccinations, sources said, Silver outlined on a recent call with the league's GMs the concern that all playoff-bound teams share: Losing a key player for a week could decide a playoff series.

> For now, though, this is a tired league, born of a condensed game schedule and isolating protocols that have left everyone fatigued -- especially in the aftermath of a shortened offseason. Emotions are frayed, relations among a younger crop of referees and players and coaches have become increasingly combustible. Privately, team executives are expressing concern to the league office about the relentless strife and volume of players and coaches complaining to refs. Even teams are worried it's turning off fans, and the league office knows it's an issue.

Is there a fragrance where you simply don’t understand the appeal?

Mine is Baccarat Rouge. I’ve read all the reviews and nothing sounds remotely appealing to me. In fact I had initially assumed it was a masculine perfume because of the notes and reviews, I only recently learned it was female/unisex. All of the reviews basically call it rubber gloves/dentist office... but in a good way. How is that possible? I seriously am befuddled.

I felt the same way about Mugler Angel. I had no idea how people could like it. So I sampled it myself... and basically gagged. I even tried the flankers, I really wanted to see how people could actually like it, but they all were nauseating and smelled like trash to me.

Do any popular fragrances baffle you?

EDITED TO ADD: This post is not intended to complain about Baccarat Rouge. I simply posted to spark a discussion about how some scent profiles appeal to some people, while others find them unappealing. I think it’s an interesting topic. The moderators of this board require an example in the body of the post, so I simply posted an example of one that I’ve smelled and one example that I have not smelled yet.

I dont know how to appeal to gay men at all. Any advice?

I feel like I am doing something so wrong when trying to either attract or appeal to a another guy. I am a vers. bottom, 25, most attracted to top-like guys but the right guy could be a bottom. I have the awful curse of attracting so many beautiful (in my eyes, gay so not sexual attraction) girls who flirt with me all the time in public and I just dont want anything to do with it.

However, I dont know what it is about me, but I just dont seem to appeal to (top) guys at all. I am not feminine at all really, and dont act like it either. I have a clean trimmed beard and mustache, short hair, no piercings.

I sometimes think I'm not acting gay enough (I'm not trying to offend anyone, I'm gay too buddy). I honestly used to think I was just unattractive but how much I get hit on by women really negates that thought for me and I just think gay men are much more reserved when communicating interest with one another, or I'm maybe ignorant of how gay people actually hint to each other.

High school was so much easier, everyone knew you were gay, even the other schools in the area, so finding someone was much more simple. Going out to bars isn't really what I'm too interested in (not to mention expensive for me at this point in life), and dating apps are just so shitty in every sense of the experience, I'd much rather try to meet someone in person and go from there.

I dont even care about the sex anymore. I just want someone who I can spend time with and share interests and watch tv shows, but I cant seem to identify gay men and or appeal to said men. Are there things I could be doing to maybe put myself more out there? Things I could do to subtly say I'm interested in a guy before approaching them and possibly embarrassing myself? Do I have to go to gay places to meet someone like a gay bar, which sadly doesnt exist within a 1hour radius of travel for me? Maybe just peirce my right ear and call it a day? (That last one is a joke)

Thanks to anyone in advance who reads this and offers some help. I dont know if I'm just stupid or oblivious to my surroundings, but I'm just tired of being lonely all the time when I know I could be happy if I just knew how to approach it all.

Chauvin trial Judge: "Congresswoman Waters may have given you something on appeal that may result in this whole trial being overturned."

Congressman Waters refers to Maxine Waters, who joined protesters in Minneapolis over the weekend and encouraged them to "stay on the streets", "fight", and "get more confrontational" if they don't get the verdict they want:

> We’ve got to stay on the street and we’ve got to get more active, we’ve got to get more confrontational. We’ve got to make sure that they know that we mean business.

> I hope we’re going to get a verdict that will say guilty, guilty, guilty. And if we don’t, we cannot go away.

> Not manslaughter, no, no, no. Guilty for murder.

The fact that she told them to get more confrontational is pretty disturbing when you consider the context: Rioters had spent the previous days looting, destroying property, and assaulting police after the shooting of Daunte Wright. What is more confrontational than that? Bombings? Mass shootings? She might as well have said "Find him guilty of murder or we burn the whole city".

Democrats impeached Trump for statements that were far less threatening, and although Waters is unlikely to face any consequences for these statements she may have handed Derek Chauvin a 'Get Out of Jail' card:

Here is the full exchange: https://twitter.com/HLNTV/status/1384260494110855182 (jump to 4:16 for the judge's first statement)

The judge denies the motion for an immediate mistrial but acknowledges that Waters' threats might allow the defense to successfully appeal a guilty verdict.

What makes this even worse is the fact that the jury was not sequestered during this trial, which means they could have very easily been influenced by these statements and may now fear for their lives and the lives of others if they return the "incorrect" verdict. They would probably feel responsible for any destruction that follows a "not guilty" or "guilty of manslaughter" decision.

Edit: Also, hours later there was a drive by shooting that injured 2 national guard members in Minneapolis. Probably coincidence, but we all know that's not how Democrats would interpret these events if Trump had been in Waters' place.

Women who’ve gone viral on social media for their beauty, what do you think is their appeal that caused them to go viral?

There have been several instances online of relatively unknown women going viral on social media simply for their beauty and I am curious if you guys have any theories as to why these particular women were so appealing.

The first example I can think of is this girl on tiktok who’s video went viral, getting over 20 million views and thousands of comments primarily from men telling her she is beautiful.

The second one Neekolul the ok boomer girl, who became internet famous and rich after just posting an innocent video of her singing to the song ok boomer on Twitter.

And finally there was a Pakistani woman named Dananeer Mobeen who posted a video who went viral for her beauty as well.

I’m sure there are other examples but those are the ones I could think of at the moment. Obviously these are all beautiful women but I am curious what do you think was the it factor they had that made them go viral for their beauty specifically?
