I don't know if it's me, or the fact that I work for the Government, or what. But I have a strong preference for email conversations, while people around me seem to prefer phone calls.
I like email for three basic reasons:
I sent an email to a co-worker, who I thought was the sysadmin for a different project that I need to work with. I thought they were clear and concise and specific questions, but maybe I'm biased. Anyway, his answer, cc'd to two other people, was "Let's get together to talk about this." Four days later, we all found a half hour for a conference call, at which they determined "We need some time to gather the answers to these questions. Let's all get together next week and follow up." A week and a half later, we all found a half hour for a conference call, at which he gave me the a long description of his project's tasks and goals (which I really didn'... keep reading on reddit ➡

I know there’s a strong push to rally around Biden, he may seem like the most electable due to his win in South Carolina but think big picture. Biden may be able to win moderates but he won’t be able to get as much of the progressive wing of the party. Warren is the unity ticket.
The D.C. Court of Appeals issued a 2-1 decision Friday ruling the courts do not have constitutional authority to compel former White House Counsel Don McGahn to testify before the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee. The 88 page document is about half decision and half dissent, with a rough summary of the court's evaluation on page 34:
>Nevertheless, the inevitable consequence of Article III’s case-or-controversy requirement is that Congress will obtain only the concessions it can wrest from the Executive Branch with the ample but imperfect tools at its disposal. Sometimes, those tools will yield fewer concessions than Congress might wish, but the remedy for that perceived wrong is in politics or at the ballot box. If federal courts were to swoop in to rescue Congress whenever its constitutional tools failed, it would not just supplement the political process; it would replace that process with one in... keep reading on reddit ➡
Guys, in all seriousness, the virus seems to be a big threat for those 75+. Even people in 50s and 60s generally need strong comorbidities for the case to be fatal. Those under 50 are fine if not really sick prior or really exhausted like some Chinese medical staff. So especially when you are prepping and isolating yourself, being in the 20s or so, remember about your grandparents and also parents (as they are older than you, so slightly more in danger). Make sure they have stocks, in case of quarantine check on them, name yourself the designated person to do shopping etc. just wanted to say this as the sub seems to be full of young healthy people with like a 0,1% mortality rate in their group, who talk about ways to save themselves, but there is very little talk about how to help older loved ones...
The House of Representatives can access President Trump’s private financial records from two banks, a federal appeals court ruled Tuesday, finding a "public interest" in refusing to block congressional subpoenas.
The ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit came in the ongoing legal battle Trump has waged to shield his private business records from disclosure — including in two cases that have already reached the Supreme Court.
The New York-based appeals court upheld Congress’s broad investigative authority and ordered Deutsche Bank and Capital One to comply with the House subpoenas for the president’s financial information. The court gave the president seven days to seek review by the Supreme Court in the case pre-dates the public impeachment proceedings in the House.
In a 106-page ruling, the court said the House committees’ "interests in pursuing their constitutional legislative function is a far more significant public interest than whatever public interest inhe... keep reading on reddit ➡
It took me 3 games to figure it out, but during my play through of DMC 3 (special edition) it clicked.
Devil May Cry was a pretty good game but I found it to be rather dated and frustrating as a result. The game utilizes a life based system where if you run out of yellow orbs, then you have to restart the level. Considering that some of the bosses were pretty annoying and usually posted at the end of a mission, frustration was sure to ensue. After finishing it I felt satisfied and intrigued to experience more, but I wouldn't call myself a fan just yet.
DMC 2 struck a blow to my interest in the series. It was just so bland. Use gun for pretty much everything and you are unlikely to lose.
DMC 3 however... I get it. What a joyous experience, it played beautifully and was a major step up from the first two games. The amount of combat variety that the game provides players is seriously impressive. The story is a little more involved and the environments are nicely detailed considerin... keep reading on reddit ➡

"A federal appeals court in New York says President Donald Trump's tax returns can be turned over to state criminal investigators.
The ruling by the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals came Monday. It is certain to be further appealed to the Supreme Court.
The decision upholds a lower-court ruling rejecting Trump's lawsuit seeking to block his accountant from letting a grand jury see his tax records from 2011.
Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. sought the records in a broader probe that includes payments made to buy the silence of two women who claim they had affairs with the president before the 2016 presidential election.
The full text of the ruling can be found here.

So back in September I had my gallbladder removed and a few weeks later I received an Explanation of Benefits letter from my insurance company which breaks down what they pay and what I would have to pay out of my pocket. This letter stated I will have to pay for $11,000.00 to a doctor I didn’t recognize. I called my health insurance company and asked why would I owe this money to a doctor I didn’t know. They informed me that he was the assisting surgeon and is out of my network but I can file an appeal with my insurance to cover the $11,000.00.
Fast forward to November when I’m laid off work and I did receive 6 months severance which I put into my savings for emergencies. I am collecting unemployment which is keeping my bills paid.
I received a letter today from the insurance company that the appeal was denied, and I owe the $11,000.00. I don’t know how I am going to pay it. I don’t want to use my severance because that’s pretty much all of it give or take a $1,000. I need that in... keep reading on reddit ➡
While discussions and debate are important in rebuffing TRA ideology on the social media/discourse front, I ultimately don't think we will secure our rights to single sex spaces if the bulk of our resistance is tied up in social media commentary.
I honestly think they keep ramping the craziness up so that we remain in this perpetual loop of pointing out their insanity to deconstruct and pick apart. Have you ever noticed that? it's crazy-making. They throw out "terf baiting" material (articles, tweets, posts, videos), then wait for us to jump on it. This buys them more time to advance their causes out in government and real world policy, while we simply react to it online or hold meetings that get cancelled and no-platformed every other month.
Our activism should be less about changing people's minds, and more about making them realize that there is already a sizeable population who refuse to accept this.
You ever wonder why the trans/genderqueer/extreme libfem population is so sm... keep reading on reddit ➡
Young left winger here wondering what the appeal is to Joe Biden on a POLICY basis. Not talking about Trump-beatability, just what he would bring to the table.
This was posted a few months ago as a comment on a thread somewhere, however I cannot find it at all despite my best efforts. I have mentioned this in comments a couple of times over the last few days but it is bugging me and I want to know what others think. Is it of relevance or significant in any way?
The new information released this week on the 20th Aniversary of the Disappearance of Asha Degree, confirming that the NKOTB shirt and the Dr Suess book McElligots Pool were found in 2001 inside Asha's recovered backpack; has got everybody talking.

Finally, after 8 hours, I have compiled enough data to rank every Fallout NV NPC's (minus children) sex appeal ranking, and proving once and for all how deeply unsexy Benny is on a mathematical level.
edit: thanks for the gold, I'm glad to see everyone understanding the importance of making sure that unsexy ring-a-ding-ding bitch knows his place as the deeply unsexy goblin he is.
edit: silver as well? glad to know everyone shares a strong mutual disdain for the physical manifestation of Frank Sinatra's farts.
edit: Props to the absolute sex lord who gave me platinum. Heres to another year of tracking down Dean Martin's unfuckable cousin and shooting him in his mathematically proven unsexy face.
I am a huge horror fanatic. And I love documentries, more so about morbid issues such as the Holocaust, natural disasters, man made disasters etc. So when I heard about this show, I was excited.
Just before seeing it, I watched a few other films regarding Nuclear issues and Nuclear disasters to wet my whistle, so to speak.
Films such as: When the Wind Blows, The Day After, and Threads (which gave me serious Radiophobia)
I am petrified of nuclear war, nuclear holocaust and the effects of radiation. My biggest phobia is myself and my spouse dying of Radiation Sickness... Yet I was obsessed with Chernobyl (the tv series) and quickly drank up every single documentary, podcast, and article I can find.
So why do we pursue what we know is terrifying to us? And why in particular, does the horror of chernobyl appeal to us?
Why does Chernobyl appeal to you? Were you a Chernobyl enthusiast (for want of a better word) prior to the series?
(P.s: Its not a shitpost! Go figure!)
Please no negative comments about my sister. Thank You!
I've been trying so hard to keep myself focused as our appeal date got closer. It was known for months that we were going to be placed on the March calendar. A couple of weeks after it was posted, my wife contacted our attorney asking how long the process would take so she could ask for the time off from work. We received a return email from his assistant explaining details, and another email a few days later with a letter attached. It was addressed to the appellate court stating he had a vacation scheduled for the week of, and asking to be rescheduled for the next month. Here we wait again. We so far have received no response. I feel like I'm on some sort of fucked up candid camera show and I cant escape.
While I wait, I feel the need to expose more shit for what it is. It's my therapy

Specifically 11, but I guess this can apply to the series in general.
Let me get this out of the way: I like JRPGs and I don't really think of them as "outdated" design. There are some boring ones I've dropped after a little bit, but I really love most of the FF games before 11, Shadow Hearts Covenant, Phantasy Star, MOTHER, Chrono Trigger (not Cross), Persona (if I ignore the writing), Xenoblade 1 and X, I'm excited for Yakuza 7 and FF7 remake, etc. Not trying to be all "it's boring/outdated/not active enough" etc.
BUT, DQ seriously puts me to sleep for some reason. I like Toriyama's art style, the enemy designs, the grandiose but still kinda silly and heartwarming feeling of it, but something about the progression just doesn't strike a chord with me. I hear tales of people who really like JRPGs going absolutely over the moon when playing this game and I just don't feel it after about 10 or so hours, despite the turn-based combat feeling quick and satisfying. I could say it's the o... keep reading on reddit ➡
President Trump’s accounting firm must turn over eight years of his tax returns to a House committee, a federal appeals court ruled on Friday, handing the president a significant defeat in his attempts to block the release of the returns.
The House Reform and Oversight Committee issued a subpoena earlier this year demanding that Mazars USA, the president’s accounting firm, hand over the tax returns. Mr. Trump’s lawyers accused Democrats on the committee of conducting a witch hunt with no legitimate purpose.

So I am a 22 year old female. I have decided to not have sex until I am married, as I wish go devote myself to one person only. And I wish to build a life with that person. I am not religious. I just belive that love and sex is intertwined and should be between 2 people who will take on the world together. (also take into account my definition of virginity means no sexual acts of any kind)
So there is a man I am interested in, and we have been chatting for over a year now and finally the topic of sex came up and I explained my views that I am waiting for marriage to have sex and I explained my views on the subject.
His response was first shocked, he first asked how can a attractive woman not have sex into her 20s? And then went on talking about how my views are a bit childish, but good at heart.
Since telling him this information although we chat everyday he is more interested in me. Although he has brought up marriage in the past with me before this conversation twice (I rejected... keep reading on reddit ➡
