Se for a Dilma, é ruim, se for o Bolsonaro, é bom.
In the beginning stages of planning a firewall upgrade and looking for opinions on the three vendors: Cisco, Palo Alto, or Fortinet.
Looking for /r/networking's experience with these firewall vendors from a configuration, usability, and support perspective. Any insight would be appreciated.
The Los Altos location of Revelation in Fit will close at the end of March. Unfortunately, the building has been purchased by a development company, and it will undergo considerable renovations, so we cannot stay. We are having a sale through the end of the month.
Not to worry - Oakland and San Francisco are not going anywhere!
On a personal note, I'd like to thank A Bra That Fits for your support of independent boutiques everywhere. This community is an amazing repository of knowledge, and it's all volunteer-run. You're doing excellent work.
Hello, Palo Alto residents!
We are an early-stage startup that is aiming to shorten your commute times. We use state-of-the-art Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing aircrafts. We have just opened access to early flights:
You would be able to fly from Palo Alto to San Francisco in about 15 minutes for about $23 one-way.
It would mean a lot to us if you could share some feedback and if this kind of service would be beneficial to you.
Thank you so much!
Looking to see what others Opinions are experiences are on various other firewalls. Currently Checkpoint is bugging out on us quite a lot. It recently started dropping "hello" TLS packets for one particular application only (Also sharing the same certificate as other traffic that did get through) but gave no indications or logs that this traffic was getting error-ed or denied. The other kicker is no we touched nothing in regards to this traffic or rules impacting it.
Our new Architect is pretty well at wits end, and likes PA. I have a very limited exposure to it. And when I did it was pre panorama.
But as a security guy CP does some really nice things in terms of IPS/IDS and the ability to correlate logs track threats etc. (Their IPS stuff is honestly one of the best security tools I have)
Also coming in R80.40 the https inspection is getting an overhaul.
I have another close friend that loves their PA, and no issues with it. Our vendors that also sell PA say really they're n... keep reading on reddit ➡
I play alto, tenor and soprano. I truly don’t know why everyone thinks that tenor is so much better for jazz. I see no real difference between jazz on alto and jazz on tenor other than small sound difference. I almost prefer alto for jazz. Is it just because more people play jazz tenor? I’m truly clueless.
Guys, why are we wasting money on firewalls with 24/7 protection when we only use them 8 hours a day? We all turn our servers and desktops off after work hours, so a firewall is just wasted money for 16 hours a day. I've contacted my very-alcoholic rep (VAR) and told him I want to pay 1/3rd the cost since I'm only using the firewall 1/3rd the day. So he's going to hook us up with a firewall that only works from 8a to 5p (with an hour lunch). As an added bonus he's going to knock another 2/7ths off the price for Saturday and Sunday. I couldn't get him down on the price for holidays but I'll be shopping around for a different VAR in the hopes I can get another 1% off.
I was also thinking about getting pricing based on ports, there's thousands of the damn ports and we really only use 80 and 3389 (and my secret file store on 21 tee hee).
Anyone else have great money saving ideas?
I can't decide Which sax i want to invest my time and money into more. I started on alto and played for about 8 months. Recently I switch over to tenor to see if I would enjoy playing that more. I was wonder what are some pros and cons for playing alto over playing tenor or tenor over alto. Specifically what type of sax is used for different genres of music. For instance I heard that Alto is better for classical and tenor is better for rock n roll. Maybe later in my life I'll play both but for right now I have to choose one. This would be a big help.
I've been offered an entry level data science role in Palo Alto. 120k/year. I'll need a 1bed house/apartment (rental) for my fiance and I. She's currently marketing/sales. Not sure how quickly she could find a job in PA, but assume I will be the only income source for x months.
Currently, we're in Chicago, where rent is 1700/mo and 80k/year is comfortable. Minus the weather, I love it here. There are a million things to do. But not much in the way of outdoor activities. Because we live in downtown, neither of us currently own vehicles.
A few questions:
- Is moving to Silicon valley worth it? Short term and long term perspectives. (Will it set my career on a trajectory that Chicago can't offer?)
- Is 120k livable? I'm trying to save for a wedding in 2021, so I'd like to know if that's an unrealistic goal before committing to the move.
- What neighborhoods are close to the BART, reasonably affordable and safe? I'd like a 40 min commute (or less, obviously.) I understand living... keep reading on reddit ➡
Apologies if this has been posted before, I searched and didn't see anything.
For those IT / Cybersecurity focused vets out there like myself, Palo Alto has started a program to give certificate vouchers for their full line of Network Security certificates to any veteran interested in pursuing them. Not sure how long the program has been going or how long it will be around.
The program is called Second Watch, and it's entirely free.
Through the program, you'll get a chance to take and pass:
That last one is a pain, but all three are very valuable. Palo Alto is the leading firewall manufacturer, and having certs in their equipment would look fantastic on a resume.
I’ve only been playing for 8 months now and I feel that the tenor sax is more for me.
I don’t have much time to practice due to work and all so I want to just focus on one saxophone at a time.
I am relatively new to IT per say, but I have to do some initial research every time we need new products/services.
From what I am understanding, PA is the only Firewall that inspects a packet of data just once, while the others have multiple inspections which make it slower?
Trying to understand the main difference in architecture between Firepower, Checkpoint, Fortinet or the cheaper Sonicwall/Watchguard
I'm searching to listen to some alto jazz players with a similar style to Dexter Gordon, Hank mobley, Sonny Rollins, etc. I love to cannonball and Charlie Parker but I'm looking for more warm Bebop or maybe ballads with alto for inspiration, so if you got any recommendations send please, Thanks.
PS Any Joshua Redman tracks with alto would be great too (Can't Dance for example).
I like to play music by ear and have perfect pitch so I had this idea to just call the notes what they sound like, because otherwise it just screws me up, especially when I'm playing by ear.
Eg when I play "C" what I hear is Eb so I just call it Eb, and what the fingering chart calls "E" would be a G.
I've memorised these fingerings and it's worked well for me so far and it lets me just play from normal sheet music, jam etc, but are there any drawbacks to this? Is it considered sacrilege?
So I’m a classically trained guy, trying to start to venture to the jazz world... yeah I know it’s a big deal. I’m looking for some great lead altos to listen to in a big band setting, and I know some names but not a whole lot. I’m looking to model my sound after a great lead altos. A name that pops into mind is Johnny Hodges. Even names of some modern great players would help. Possibly even venturing into looking for some of those lead alto players setups and trying them out for myself. Thanks for the help!
Here are the two mouthpieces I’m looking into getting:
As a string player (violin and jazz double bass) I’m considering investing in either a cheap alto or cheap tenor, what would be ur guys advice on the type and any brand suggestions.
Thanks in advance
I picked up an old alto, a Pennsylvania Special, to tinker with at home and see if I can make it play (it doesn't), just for a bit of fun.
Did a little research, didn't come up with much, apart from it appears to be a stencil made by Kohlert in Czechoslovakia, around 1934.
I can't find any info on these, apart from a few short threads on similar (but slightly newer, late 30s) tenors.
Would be great to know a little more about what I've got. I'm not expecting much, it's more curiosity as it's four times as old as I am.
Definitely needs an overhaul before it'll be playable
Looking to snag a vintage horn without spending an arm and a leg, and I've seen some good deals of some bueschers. However, I don't really know anything about horns made before the '60s because I have never really been exposed to them. I'm seeing a lot of true tones, aristocrats, and a few big B's. Are these good models? Does anyone have any recommendations for a good vintage "sleeper" horn? Any help is much appreciated!
Very basic controls but the graphics and sound make for a satisfying experience.
Lo so sono una persona disgustosa
