I've been convinced by many that Chamath is nothing but a great salesman (riding the climate bandwagon and harbouring a retail investor cult - via support for G M E etc). I've also hated him for $CLOV (in part thanks to this Medium article from October 2020 and of course the recent Hindenburg report).
What's worse though, is his attitude (pumping, aggression - eg; his FB days). Remember the
>Best SaaS company I’ve ever seen/invested in
That turned out to be Latch. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent company (albeit extremely overvalued due to the Chamath effect), but the guy provided a table and put his "???" above companies such as TWLO, FROG, SPLK, DDOG, ZM, OKTA, WORK etc etc. In acutality, his table and chart were extremely disingenuous (see this good Reddit post and Jamin Ball from Altimeter's tweet). Chamath knows this is not "the best SaaS company" he's ever seen. He is a pumping salesman. The gross margins for Latch were 11%, 77% of revenue was hardware and 21% YoY growth, but you see where Chamath put it on his chart?
Then, because he is a absolute hypocrite, he blasts Chris Conforti's (Altimeter Capital) tweet (https://twitter.com/Chris_Conforti/status/1356255820598673410) saying "This may be the stupidest fucking chart ever created. Congrats."
For reference, the tweet was just telling the Clubhouse founders to talk next steps (perhaps for Altimeter's SPAC). The image just showed SPAC price movement (for those that haven't announced a deal) with price 1 week after IPO on the x-axis and price 1 month after IPO on the y-axis. Of course, there was no commentary about the graph on the tweet, it is simply modelling retail investor hype about SPACs without any deals.
Is there anything wrong with this? No. Is it a dumb chart? Maybe. Is Chamath's shitty chart designed for pumping more stupid? Hell yes.
So, to the long list of reasons to hate Chamath, we can now add (on top of further hypocrisy), attacking (for no reason might I add) his friends employee (Brad Gerstner, the founder of Altimeter Capital, is supposedly a long time friend of Chamath) for sharing a chart (poorly) modelling hype.
TLDR; Congratulations Chamath, yo... keep reading on reddit ➡
Is getting an audio altimeter a good idea for new skydivers? Less than 50 jumps. More altitude awareness doesn't sound bad, especially if your fighting a malfunction and your not aware of your altitude.
I'll ask the instructors and coaches at my home DZ but until then what's your thoughts and opinions?! Thanks!
I'm currently playing with the default MSFS ATC + A320 Fly-By-Wire mod. Now the ATC would give me an altimeter, after configuring the altimeter, a few mins later the ATC would want me to expedite my climb or descent. Is this a bug or am I doing it wrong?
Is it possible to fit those things in this small a frame?
Tldr: is this going to work or is the altimeter going to be ruined?
I am working on my L2, and the way I designed the rocket would have the main chute ejected out the top half of the rocket by blowing off the nose cone. However when I designed the rocket, I didn't really realize the way avionics bays are intended to work, so all the electronics are in the same compartment as the main chute and it's ejection charge. The question is, will this be totally catastrophic, or will the flight computer be okay dealing with the ejection charge? If I have to rebuild this portion of the rocket then so be it but I figure I'd rather ask before totally abandoning what I already have.
Edit: thanks for the advice. Think I'm going to go ahead and rebuild the top of the rocket for a proper avionics bay.
It's the simplest request I have. It sounds soo easy to implement. Please just do it.
And how do they operate? Do they use a constant wave, a sweeping signal, or something wideband?
EDIT: And what about nose-mounted weather radars?
In order to compute altitude is a pressure sensor the only type used? If not, what are some other types?
Just did a 7 hour flight from Russia to Cyprus in a Baron G58 with the latest world update.
Curiously, my altimeter didn’t need change once through the whole flight and was stuck on 29.92.
Coincidence? Bug? Or is that entirely possible on a flight of that length?
The hud currently gives you feet in AGL ( above the ground) when it should be giving you feet in MSL (above sea level). This makes it work like a radar altimeter which isn't really that useful in the game.
I need some recommendations for a smartwatch with a altimeter. Should cost maybe less than 200 Bucks.
Thanks in advance
Yesterday, I hit 2 milestones for daily floors. I apparently surpassed 100 floors, then 125 floors!
Sounds amazing, right?
No. Because I was in my house all day. I did NOT do 125 floors.
I noticed the day before says 99. That's nowhere near correct.
I typically do up to 50-60 floors, including on active days when I go for runs or hikes or whatever.
Today, I'm at 20 floors already, but I've only been awake for a couple of hours and I've been home the whole time. I imagine I'm maybe around 5, unlikely to even be 10 floors yet.
I already tried restarting the watch last night, but it's still happening.
Anyone else's out of control?
Has anyone had issues where in ski mode the altimeter will suddenly jump off by up to 2k feet? For example this resort base is ~3800ft, but you can see around 30 minutes it drops to nearly 2k. I noticed after a few laps and re-called the altmiter, and it did OK until ~1 hour, then you can see it just got real stupid many times over.
This happens in ~1 out of 4 ski activities.
Chris recently joined the Altimeter team from Goldman (doing tech IPOs). I'd personally not be happy with $AGC/$AGCB having Clubhouse as a target. What does everyone else think?
The tweet says:
>4/ Clubhouse is on fire. Great business model. @pdavison @rohanseth- congrats – let’s talk next steps. Let's allow your users to share in your upside - less dilution to you - and give retail investors something great to buy other than $ G M E!
Then there's a graph showing "Share-price performance of existing SPACs without deals announced".
Does anyone know how to access this. Everything I'm seeing says it's built in? I can't find it anywhere? Thanks for the help.
Does anyknow where I can get the Pnut Altimeter online? Also is there something that's better than the Pnut?
Minecraft should have an altimeter as a simple, ingame way to check height. It would be crafted by placing iron in the shape of an arrow in the crafting grid, and would be used by holding it like a compass. It would then display the Y coordinate on its. face.
Yes, I know just pressing f3. But minecraft VR does not allow this, and many gamers, like pewdiepie, prefer not to use coordinates.
Besides, it would be soo easy to implement.
I'm having issues get the subject devices to all play nice.
I can get a beautiful display of the Altimeter Data on the OLED.
I can get the altimeter to record data to the SD card.
When I try to add the SD card storage, display and Altimeter Data it compiles okay but doesn't run anything.
Program storage space was up to about 98%, is this just too much to expect for a 32u4 device?
Whoever wants to have an accurate measurement of altitude and barometer, should adjust that manual calibration, so far I put it on "Automatic update", and often it didn't show the exact height, now it shows me exactly. You can see your altitude on Google Earth, adjust the height in front of your entrance to the house / apartment, but while you are in front of the entrance and not at the height of your floor, let's say I live on the 9th floor and there is no need to adjust the altimeter, but in front of the building entrance .
My series 6 altimeter has been way off for the past few days. My houses is right around 120ft above sea level. And my watch usually displays an height of around 125ft. However, for the past few days, my watch has been reading between 750ft and 850ft. Turning my watch off and on again didn't help.
Any idea how I can fix this?
