Edit: this got way more discussion than expected!!
Thanks for participation everyone. And thanks to the strangers that gave awards!!
Iβve been sober since January 2nd, Iβm very proud of myself, but a little bit concerned with my complete dependence on ingesting other non-alcoholic beverages. I was the kind of alcoholic that was drinking from morning to night. To compensate for this, Iβve been drinking roughly 2-3 litres of soda water, 1 litre of Diet Coke, and 1 litre of tap water every single day. If I donβt have a glass or bottle of something in my hand I feel like I canβt manage. Is there a way to break this habit?
I know itβs way better than alcohol, but Iβd like to stop peeing every 15 minute, and I really donβt think one should drink that much liquid every day.
Iβve tried White Claws and a few other seltzers, but I think 4 points is a little bit too high for a 5% ABV ! I gained some pounds back in just one weekend lol. Does anyone have any cocktail suggestions? Iβve heard of using club soda and diet Sprite? I prefer light drinks (vodka) to dark. Would love any premixed suggestions like seltzers but I doubt thereβs many below 4pts....
I was originally going to label this coffee and tea brands, but I remembered a conversation with my boyfriend awhile back about trying more small brand soda, so hopefully this title works!
My family and I have been having discussing switching more of our buying categories to smaller businesses and indie brands, and coffee and tea are one of the things we buy the most- being avid coffee drinkers since birth (literally) and from the south.
Again, any beverage category works!! I remember a post thread awhile back that was specifically about hot chocolate that I had bookmarked for recommendations. I should go look for that again...
I'm re-watching the series for I don't know how many times, and it just dawned on me.. Where was Andy while Jackie and Fred were getting drunk with Dan in the garage during the Super Bowl?
Hello! Title says most of what I needed to. Iβve come seeking your guidance in helping build myself a list of places with great alcoholic beverages that lean towards the sweet side of the table. Thank you for any help at all!
I have seen way to many friends and family members being teased and coerced into drinking at parties. It seems like the norm is to have some type of alcoholic beverages and if you don't drink you are called out for being a party-pooper. I think if someone turns down a drink, that should be the end of it, not teasing and coercion.
EDIT to add: I understand you can drink water. My point is mostly about how not drinking at a party can result in coercion and making a person have to explain why they aren't drinking. And also the pressure that is felt to drink when you go to a party.
Anyone have a nice recipe for a punch or beverage non-drinkers, DDs and kids would enjoy at a wedding? I want to be sure everyone has something delicious to sip on.
With alcohol's prevalence in the legal realm, what are your general drinking habits? If you don't drink regularly, do some approximating about where the average would fall if it was spread out.
I'm day 6 of no drinking. Really have no desire to drink AT ALL but I'm going on vacation with my heavy drinking family. Has non-alcoholic beverages worked for other newly sober people?? Like NA beer or seltzer's?
When I get home from work I usually slam beers but now that I'm not drinking I find myself chugging bottles of Gatorade, tea, water, etc. but they're becoming boring quick because they're not actually what my brain is craving. I don't want to drink soda because I want to avoid the sugar and I can't be drinking coffee at midnight when I get home.
What are your guys go-to drinks? I need something with some flavor that won't mess with my system if I drink a lot of it.
I was at a holiday party with some acquaintances last night. The hosts were cooking dinner, we were bringing desert. 8 people in total (we've all been quarantining and live close by). We also decided to bring a 6 pack of beer that has been in our fridge for a few weeks (since I decided to stop drinking), and on top of that I decided to bring some sparkling water in case the hosts didn't have anything non-alcoholic.
When we got to the hosts' house, they asked if I wanted anything to drink and I asked if they had anything non-alcoholic... other than water they did not, and it was a little awkward. I told them no worries, I brought my own, and they got me a nice chilled glass from the freezer for it :)
Because I had something in hand that I sipped slowly for the rest of the night, no one else asked me if I wanted anything to drink, reducing pressure to continuously say no!
I guess there's two protips in one here:
Edit: some typos
Did somebody try this? Thinking about an cider amazake. Or does the alcohol prevent the koji doing its thing?
I'm trying to cut back on the drinking and I've always paired my cigars with whiskey or a beer. What age your favorite non-alcoholic alternatives?
