It felt like every episode there was some cool new detail, or element of world building that made sense and paid respectable homage to the Star Wars of old. When I realized Cobb's speeder looked like a recycled podracer engine I was thrilled that they felt they could include podracing, of all things, from the Prequels. Of course it was a stupid scene in The Phantom Menace, but it's an established part of the world, and they took that part integrated it beautifully. I felt the same way when those walker cranes picked up the Razor Crest from the water. How cool it was to see that walker technology used for something other than an AT-AT / AT-ST or war machines in general. It makes sense right? Of course they have walkers for utility purposes like this, but I don't think we've ever seen them before. It's a shame that in the future, expanding upon existing technologies is as simple as saying "They fly now." And everything of note ends up in the hands of one Mary Sue.
Even aside from the subtle world building, Boba Fett getting to be an actual character and do badass stuff is exactly the treatment OT characters needed. Their legacies exapnded upon and respected. I wish Leia and Han had gotten the same treatment.
Even the new characters had meaningful arcs. Mayfield turned from complete jackass to somewhat redeemable in a believable way. He talks up the empire, tries to argue they're "not so different." But it's all just him justifying it to himself. He's not arguing against the Mandalorian, or that what he did was right. He's arguing with his own internal monologue telling him he picked the wrong side, and he knows it. Coming face to face with his old officer, and having a chance to do something good brings it out of him. Weird how Finn, a character with a fairly similar backstory only gets to run around screaming "REY" for three movies.
The only moment in the Mandalorian that didn't come with a massive crash for me afterwards was hearing the seismic charge again. I wanted to be a foley artist at some point in my life so movie SFX have always been big in my heart and I think that's my favorite movie sound ever. It was such a filler moment of the show too, two TIEs just randomly show up. I don't even care that it was pointless and shoehorned in just for fan service, I love that sound I'm happy with any excuse.
I Albatrossed Hole 1 in Stage 12 Arena (my first one ) but next time I looked a different player had won the hole. Why?
Hey gang! I'm in the process of planning out my first LANCER campaign, and I have a dramatic Albatross deep space rescue planned as one of the possible hooks into a broader story.
In my mind, the arrival of an Albatross Wing is 100% accompanied by the most triumphant horn music we can imagine, and I wanted to pick this subreddit's brain about what songs I could use for the right atmosphere!
Initially, A Step Forward Into Terror or Eva-02 come to mind, but I know I'm very one-track, so I'm reaching out for new suggestions!
SOLD SV: $430 SOLD
I've been dreading this day, but it's time. Up for sale is my custom Assassin Knives Albatross. Assassin Knives is a relatively new Armenian maker who has sexy designs with awesome materials for amazing prices. He's a super nice dude too. The only reason I'm selling this is because I have a second order with him, and it's due soon. Last I checked, he was at a 6-8 month lead time.
Purple carboquarts CF handles, HAWT timascus clip, dark matter cf backspacer, damascus steel made "local" to him. It seems to be very hard and hold an excellent fine edge. Wonderful grind clocks in at a slicey 15 thou BTE.
This guy is a technically a C for some light stropping with 3.5 mic paste, giving it a spooky sharp edge. A few very light clip and blade scratches. Nothing noticeable unless you go searching. (really a very nice B). BALLER action can be spydied, front flipped or reach around flipped. DROPS shut. Detent is a little on the lighter side, but works perfectly well. Peep that action vid. A very small amount of lock stick will appear every once in a while. A touch of graphite or sharpie eliminates it completely. This is pretty normal for his knives. Came perfectly centered. It's a smidge off since my last disassembly and lube, but I didn't care to tinker it back to normal since action/lockup is perfect. Hell of a custom for $430. MATRAILZZZ
