#1 Alabama has retained possession of the College Football Belt with their 52β24 victory over #3 Ohio State in the 2021 CFP National Championship Game, and continues their 12th reign as Belt champions. The Crimson Tide are now 40β10 in Belt Games, and the Buckeyes are now 51-12β1.
A recap of the Beltβs journey this season:
For those who don't know what the Belt is, it is an unofficial trophy that traces the lineage of the "best" teams going all the way back to the first-ever CFB game. For a more complete description, check out the archived version of the Belt's website (the actual site is no longer active).
For a MUCH more comprehensive post on the Belt, check out /u/BleedScarletandBlack 's post on it and The Hatch Rankingβs current website tracking the βLineal National Championshipβ (same as the Belt).
Disclaimer. I have been compiling information from two sources that are each incomplete: one gives a list of every Belt game played but only back to the 1970s, and the other lists all Belt transfer games but not every Belt game played, so there may be a discrepancy between the number of games played and number of Belt reigns.

Well here we are again Irish faithful. We've made it into another playoff series and this year our opponent will be Alabama. What are some of the key things we need to do to win? Any players you think will have standout games? Anything we should be worried about on Alabama's side?
Hope everyone is having a great Christmas and holiday season. Go Irish, Beat Bama!
Announced yesterday by Central Arkansas AD Brad Teague.
Unclear who the other three teams are, but all are "big brand" publics.
Plan is to announce late January, early February. Plan is to move the entire conference up to FBS in two to three years (where they would be joined by ASUN Liberty).
48-17 over Tennessee
42-13 over Auburn
55-17 over LSU
That has to be a record, right?
Now, granted I went to a smaller school with practically no professional football drafts coming from our team. But Alabama crimson tide is frankly boring to watch and I donβt think they should be βnational championsβ this year. Not many college teams had remotely normal seasons due to covid. A lot of teams couldnβt field a team for some games let alone play a full schedule. The Alabama football team isnβt consistent (other than paying small schools to intentionally lose to them). Lastly, Saban is overrated and over paid. In general the only exceptional thing about Alabama football is the willingness of the fan base to throw hands over the topic.
Sorry for the delayed post
Alabama has retained possession of the College Football Belt with their 52β3 victory over Arkansas, and continues their 12th reign as Belt champions. The Crimson Tide are now 37β10 in Belt Games, and the Razorbacks are now 11β11.
Alabama's next defense of the Belt is the SEC Championship Game next Saturday against #6 Florida. This will be the Gatorsβ 39th recorded Belt game and their first since 12/03/16, a 54β16 loss to, coincidentally, Belt-holder #1 Alabama in the SEC Championship Game.
