I tried to PIF this on another platform but the winner never got in contact with me. That's what I get for not offering this up to the sub in the first place!
Up for grabs today is a brand new Mountain Laurel soap and splash from London Razors. The soaps and splashes are currently sold out, but this may change in the future. If you'd like to read my thoughts on Mountain Laurel feel free to check out my written review here.
Due to the alcohol content I can only ship this within the CONUS. My only request is that if you win the set that you share your thoughts with the sub in some way!

#Murphy and McNeil - Cat Sidhe
Cost per ounce: $9.77 CAD
Ingredients (abridged): Alcohol, witch hazel (an astringent), water, aloe (a humectant / skin food), glycerin (a humectant/emollient), silver dihydrogen citrate and citric acid (to prevent spoilage), polysorbate 20 (an emulsifier to keep the fragrance in solution), fragrance
Product & Brand History
Murphy & McNeil is a Texas-based shave company with Irish-sounding branding and marketing that offers no company history or mission statement on the "About Us" page of their website. Their products are pricy - this is the most expensive aftershave I have reviewed so far. Their scents are largely pre-blended fragrance dupes and their product formulas and packaging designs have often been criticized for suspiciously strong resemblances to the products of their competitors. Recent months have seen most of their products pulled from their competitors' stores (eg. Maggards, Top of the Chain) and they seem to be intent on only selling products through their own storefront in the future.
Cat Sidhe is named after the fairy-cats of Celtic lore. The scent is an "homage" to Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino. There is no connection of any variety between the name of the soap and its scent.
The aftershave base itself comes in a variety of versions - with or without alcohol and with or without menthol. This review is for the yes-alcohol / no-menthol version. It is sold in a fancy looking glass bottle with screw-lid and friction-fitted flow restrictor.

I’ve used the Karve C and D plates in the past in both aluminum and brass, so when I was offered to try out the A-SB plate in stainless steel I couldn’t resist. Not surprisingly, the Karve Christopher Bradley in stainless steel is beautiful, well-machined razor. All assembled with the 3.25” handle it weighs in at just under 100 grams, which is usually as heavy as I like to go with stainless razors. I was also sent the AA-SB plate, but I saw no need to try it out as the A-SB was plenty mild for me.
The A-SB plate creates a slightly negative blade exposure with a mild blade gap of 0.60mm. This is the mildest razor I have used in a very long time, perhaps rivaling the Feather AS-D2 in that regard. Excellent technique is required to receive an effective shave with this razor, and at the beginning of the week I wasn’t convinced I had the necessary technique! Thanks to an indirect pro tip from u/iamsms I began stretching my skin much more than I usually do while shaving and this definitely helped increase the efficiency of this razor. Ultimately this razor/plate combination is too mild for me, but if you want really mild this might be the way to go.
The Black Eagle HT2 “Buffalo” brush remains a massive, soft, luxurious knot in a comfortable handle shape. The knot has a relatively high loft for a 28mm, so due to the loft and density this is still the largest-feeling knot I have ever used. Does that statement actually mean anything like “the brush performs better”? No, absolutely not. However, if you’re looking to try a luxury badger knot and you want something with higher loft and even more density than a typical Declaration Grooming knot then you might consider the Black Eagle HT2. Should you pay flipper prices for an HT2? Definitely not. Should you pay retail prices for an HT2? Maybe!
I am continuing on my mission to finish this tub of Summer Break Soaps Bell Ringer. Not surprisingly, this base is a good performer and incredibly easy to build a lather with. I am not growing tired of the Bell Ringer scent yet, which is admittedly more suited for summer than the cold spring seasons we experienc... keep reading on reddit ➡
What's the difference, and which one would you recommend?
The usual stuffs I believe are splash/lotion/balms/witch hazels. Sometimes I turn to Aloe Vera Gel which is quite soothing for me. Do you have anything unusual yet perform for ya?

How do people pick a new aftershave on the shelve without smelling and is happy with their purchase. There’s no way I can be confident in doing that.

Back when I got the Noble Otter samplers I got the RAWR aftershave, but that's it. For aftershave balms I have the following:
Art of Shaving
and I've got the RAWR aftershave (which isn't a balm).
For the samples, other than RAWR I've got:
I'm not necessarily big on scents. Other than the scents on the aftershaves/balms I don't wear any other scents. But I'm looking to try and not have clashing scents. Because this isn't an area of expertise for me, I'm not sure what goes together and what clashes. So I'm open to any ideas for pairings between what I've got aftershave/balm-wise with the Noble Otter soaps.
What is your favorite aftershave that has sun protection in it?
If you don’t use anything with SPF built in - what sunblock do you use?

So I just got a jar of Stirling Almond Creme. it's my first almond scented soap and the smell of bitter almonds/maraschino cherries is quite nice. What aftershave do you gents pair with this or Cella? should I go full almond/cherry and the Almond Creme splash or 45 parallel/Italia from Captains choice? or just go for sweet and try sandalwood/Vanilla Sandalwood from Stirling or Chocolate Bourbon from PAA?
Hi everyone, looking to trade these soaps and aftershave to try something different. CONUS only. I can sell but would rather try some new soaps. Thanks!

I get pimples when I shave my head (doesn't happen with face tho), and ofc they are at the back of my head. So I'm wondering if I should use some aftershave and what type if I should (my scalp gets greasy fast). If not, do you have some other suggestion then? Thanks
Title. Looking for an aftershave with similar base notes to Chanel no 5. Really love the scent and would love an aftershave that resembles it. Cheers !
I’m looking into Zingari splash aftershaves, looks good and seems popular. Is it your fave? Found some aftershaves to be irritating, so wondering if it’s good for sensitive skin! Thanks!
New to DE shaving. My routine after shaving consists of rinsing with water, applying alum, rinsing, and aftershave lotion.
My question is, what is the purpose of using aftershave splash and lotion? Alum disinfects. Lotion provides hydration and desired perfume. I'm not seeing the benefit of traditional aftershave.
Got some Schmidt's Sandalwood & Citrus deodorant that's nice smelling. For years I wore unscented deodorant, so this is new and I'm liking it. So, couple of questions:
I'm still getting my DE shaving technique down, so my neck has been taking some abuse... so, maybe a balm is better at this point?
Suggestions, recommendations? Thx!
Edit: Using Stirling Haverford shave soap. Do really like the bourbon, vanilla, tobacco scents. Hmm.
Which is best? I have been shaving for years with cartridge and then recently a few months with DE and never used aftershave I normally just put some moisturiser on... but i have decided I want to get some aftershave. I saw something about dry vs normal skin I think mine is fairly normal and not dry im not sure.
Also is it a lot better to use a shaving soap that u need a brush for? I just used Gillette fusion 5 canned shave gel at the moment.
Anyone ever try any of the soaps, aftershaves or creams offered by WM Neumann, if so what was your favorite scent and how did it stack up to a shave from Stirling or Barrister and Mann?
Anyone know any good sellers of perfumes/aftershaves? I’m specifically after Dior Sauvage.
Thanks in advance
I recently got a sample of The Navigator and I am in love. I was going to pick up a soap jar as well as an aftershave balm, but there isn’t one.
Any idea why?
