To be a woman is to be an adult female - that's it... This is called "gender critical" theory and reddit quite literally doesn't want you to hear about it.

Gender Critical theory originated out of feminism many years ago as an answer to the stereotyping that women faced. It rejected aesthetic and cultural norms which attempted to stereotype womanhood as a surface level phenomenon. It was a refutation of the idea that a real woman should wear makeup, dresses, cook and clean or should be dainty/prissy. It asserts that the only barrier to entry is to be an adult female. Dressing the part isn't it. Having boobs isn't it. It's not a "feeling".

This was a very empowering concept. It basically gave women control of their own womanhood and gave any female the right to be whatever kind of woman they wanted to be. It also recognizes that being born female has carried very distinct consequences throughout history that being born male has not.

There is good reason feminists undertook this philosophical examination of womanhood and yielded that definition. It didn't happen because they were bored or because they wanted to hurt someone's feelings. It was a result of women exercising autonomy and defining themselves.

Anyway, over the last year or two Reddit has done an absolute purge of any subreddits that embrace gender critical theory. The old subreddit devoted to it, /r/gendercritical was fairly large for a strictly feminist space. I have to imagine a lot of redditors stumbled upon GC theory through that subreddit. There were an number of other generally related subreddits too. They've all been banned. Systematically. Even vaguely related subreddits where people try to set up spaces for "female lesbians" or whatever have been banned.

That, in a nut shell, speaks to the untenable nature of their philosophical position. I think they realize gender critical theory would resonate with a lot of people if it were given any breathing room. It seems like they want to squash and smother it. Kind of creepy how stringent they have been. When you must go to these kinds of lengths to suppress dissent, your position is not strong. Not in the slightest.

TDOR 2020: On November 26, 1983, the violently beaten body of a young AMAB adult in female attire was found on the beach at Half Moon Bay, likely a victim of a hate crime. They remained unidentified for nearly 36 years. What happened to Pillar Point Doe? (Identified October 2019)

*Extreme violent content warning*

This is the first case writeup in a series of transgender missing and murdered persons that will be shared this week by contributors from the Trans Doe Task Force in recognition of the Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20.

Early in the morning on Saturday, November 26 1983, a deceased individual was found on the beach in Half Moon Bay, California. They had only been dead a matter of hours. They had been stabbed over 20 times in the chest and neck, strangled, and beaten in the face so badly that over half their face was disfigured from bone breakage, bloodied, swollen and bruised. Their wrists had been slashed. Any one of these methods of assault could have killed them. The full effect was what can only be described as β€œoverkill,” and even that is not a strong enough word to convey the extent of the physical violence they experienced. The killer or killers were nowhere to be found.

The victim was 140 pounds, about 5’10” with short auburn hair and hazel eyes. They were wearing light yellow capri pants and a light yellow jacket over a cowl neck sweater, black fishnets over brown pantyhose, two pairs of panties, and a beige bra with foam breast forms.

The identity of the victim was unknown, and they came to be referred to as β€œJohn Doe”. They were assigned male, although they were clearly presenting as female at the time of their death. The victim was wearing many layers of clothing, which makes for a difficult time for a sex worker. Wearing two layers of panties plus two layers of pantyhose is far more indicative of someone who is β€œtucking” - flattening and obscuring the penis and testes, a common practice amongst transgender women and drag performers.

San Francisco has been a crucible of LGBTQ+ activism for decades, with public displays of support from politicians from Harvey Milk onward. LGBTQ+ people from across the country came to the area seeking community. In the early 1980s, at the beginning of the AIDS epidemic, misinformation and fearmongering led to greater hatred, targeting and violence of LGBTQ+ people than ever before. The area was a haven in some ways, but a place of incredible tension in others. November 26, 1983, the day that Pillar Point Doe was found beaten nearly beyond recognition and still warm on the beach not far from what should have been a place of solidarity with others, should have been a keyframe in a dark moment in the story of the struggle for LGBTQ+ rights and s

Dog training is one of my passion hobbies: my shibas will drop steak mid-chew on command. Just successfully retrained a highly aggressive adult female. AMA?

I've been working with her for months. As of this week, she's playing relaxedly and happily with a dog whose entire ear she bit off 8 months ago.

So proud of her. And of being able to fix a problem that most people couldn't.

I've also worked with others effectively on:

> fear of thunder, leash training, typical obedience, coexisting with parrots and cats, going for a CGC (canine good citizen test), barking at people outside the car, barking in general, resource-guarding, recall, and...various other things.

Subtle canine body language, understanding their attention patterns, and timing are Big.

Too many people just talk to their dog and expect the dog to understand - or worse, think their dog's behaving undesirably just because they're "a bad dog" or "doesn't listen".

I'm not a professional behaviorist, and have particularly limited experience with working with working dogs, tho I do have close family that does similar work on that level. I was planning to start my first 2yo in AKC showing this year, but then COVID fell on all of us like an AC unit from the 54th floor.

Happy to answer any questions about dogs, training, shibas, or anything else.

TL;DR I can dog. Do yall have any questions about how to dog, or want to discuss optimizing how we teach our dogs to politely be dogs?

edit: some weird fuck went through and downvoted all the comments here. Not sure who peed in their cheerios, but I'm upvoting yall to the best of my ability; these're great questions. Sorry about that.

edit: Alright, I should definitely wait until I get some sleep before I take any more stabs at serious, nuanced questions that involve the wellbeing of somebody's real-life family member(s).

Dogs are cool. You guys are cool. My brain is toast. Will reply to more tomorrow until I've gotten to everyone's comments, unless 2020's chaos gods drop something spicy n new between now and then. Woof.

Hey yall, I'm looking for books that really blew you away.

Preferably with a dark and intense male lead. My only ask is that the female lead is not in her teens, I can't stand when a story is based around a 16 year old finding an immortal who happens to fall in love with her because she's "special". No, you're just a pedo.

Standalone adult fantasy with a female protagonist?

Hey guys, I'm looking to move fully away from YA fantasy but I'm really struggling to find adult books with female leads (the main reason I've stuck to reading YA for so long). The latest example of one I read and loved was Bloody Rose by Nicholas Eames (though I preferred Rose's character to Tam's). My favourite book is Circe by Madeline Miller.

I don't like urban fantasy, I prefer things with a more ancient/medieval vibe. Can be low fantasy. I also don't have a preference as to the tone of the book (light or dark), as long as it's got good character development. I'd really appreciate it if it was a standalone, but it's not a requirement. Thank you in advance for any help!

Young adult female seeking female friend for a sisterhood

Sad rant. Looking for a long term platonic friendship to turn into a Best friendship. Those stereotypical bestfriends from books, shows and movies (basically fiction) lets be the ones to mar that into reality. Looking for people from the USA and Canada preferably because I want to eventually be able to meet you some day.-way in the future

There doesn’t seem to be a lot of same gender friend seekers I’ve noticed online but I’m here to say NO BOYS ALLOWED. I want a lady friend like those I grew up with a platonic friendship that lasts a lifetime, so close people think we’re actual sisters. For example Anne and Diana, I’m tired of old men messaging me or guys in general and never getting messages from my own gender, if I do it’s like one or two if I’m lucky.

I want a long term friendship not just a chat and this is purely platonic like childhood friends. The age group I’d like to stick with is I honestly don’t mind just be over 18 and under 30. ANY ethnicity a friend is a friend but I just want to bond for once in my life connect with other ladies. Hope to hear from you soon.

Female diagnosed with ASD as an adult

I grew up in an poor immigrant family. My parents had more kids than they could afford. So they spoiled one and let the other two of us fight it out in every sense of the word.

I always felt different from others. As a child I chalked it up to neglect from parents, bullying from siblings and social isolation. I thought I'd get better as I got older.

No teachers ever questioned my learning style. I was well behaved and good grades in an underfunded school with the majority of students misbehaving.

I worked and paid for college without my parents help. My first jobs were toxic and abusive to all their workers. It was still a place for me to learn about behaviors (I was depressed and extremely stubborn) I decided on a major that would help me improve my social interactions and graduated. I kept job hopping once I stayed long enough to be able to put the job on my resume.

I am not sure about others. But I never had a dream career growing up. I just wanted a job that would pay me comfortably and not make me hate myself. I have that now. I am an online secretary (minimum interpersonal interaction and I have clear goals, objectives that I can control)

I recently decided to go back to school. I still had issues with school that I previously chalked up to stress and depression (both of which I no longer have). I have had suspicions for years of being neurodivergent. I contacted my health insurance to find an in network therapist for diagnosis. I had an official diagnosis within 3 sessions of ASD.

On track for another degree in 2 years. I am looking at options for "therapy" in reading body language and social situations. I have however found the options lacking and even the diagnosis culturally biased. (May have to go to a larger city for more cultural sensitivity)

If you guys have any questions or experiences. I'd be happy to hear/help.

Cannot get a third adult female

I've seen a ton of posts about this, but I never see an answer other than "look in the trees around your oasis". Here are the facts:

  1. I have always been able to get 6 babies the whole game until a female died and no new females showed up.

  2. I have settled different areas and played the game as normal without any new females showing up.

  3. I've gone through new generations and new evolutions without and new females showing up.

  4. Here's the kicker.... Another female died in my group, and I immediately had a new female show up to bring me back to 2 adult females.

Is this a glitch in the game, or am I doing something wrong?
