A term that means "things people do". A synonym for "activities" or "behavior"

A person's environment can shape their behavior for a lifetime. The problem is, the word "behavior" sounds like I'm writing about psychiatry or something technical, when I'm not. The phrase "things people do" is too clunky, and "activities" is too vague.

I just realized that when people say something is "relaxing" they mean it actually relaxes them. No music or activity or environment has really ever relaxed me. So I thought "relaxing" was just a synonym for quiet, slow, or easy. It's hard to believe one can be soothed by the world around them!

I've always been so filled with anxiety, and disconnected from the world around me, that the idea of "relaxing" was just an activity. It meant kicking your feet up, doing nothing, etc. I would do that a lot, but it never actually relaxed me! It was definitely easier than "being busy" but it's not like it calmed my anxieties!

Even a massage doesn't actually make me feel relaxed. Whenever someone gives me a massage I go through the motions of making sounds and thanking them for making me "relaxed" but I just realized how much of a farce that is!

Man it's wild how I went through my whole life not realizing that a ultra-common word means exactly what it says.

[CW] Describe a mundane, very normal activity/thing, but with the same fervor you would use to describe someone you love/hate, without using either of those words or their synonyms.

So basically, don't use the words love, hate, detest, despise, adore, loathe, yearn, etc.

Be passionate! Show your emotions, and use your descriptions to convey them. It doesn't matter if you love something, it's how you love it.

Timing Is Everything

Don’t feel bad because you keep missing each other like ships passing in the night. Life is busy for all involved. It is simply a lesson learned.

I said “timing is everything”. That’s not quite right. It is simply a main ingredient. With sex, partner sex and even solo sex, timing is an important component that is often overlooked. Think of all the times you wanted something, someone, some circumstance that just wasn’t meant to be. It never happened, it never came about, and there you sat disappointed. Sound familiar? Failed relationships are full of experiences like this. Somethings happen for a reason. Somethings are just outside of our control.

Keep stoking your desire. Let the spark of erotic passion continue to feed the warm feelings growing inside of you. When a person desires something or someone, their sense of longing is excited by the enjoyment or the thought of the item or person, and they want to take actions to obtain their goal.

Enjoy and savor every moment. Things will progress and happen naturally when the timing is right!

Sexual desire is a motivational state and an interest in “sexual objects or activities, or as a wish, or drive to seek out sexual objects or to engage in sexual activities”. Synonyms for sexual desire are libido, sexual attraction and lust. Sexual desire is an aspect of a person's sexuality, which varies significantly from one person to another, and also varies depending on circumstances at a particular time.

Sexual desire may be the “single most common sexual event in the lives of men and women”. Sexual desire is a subjective feeling state that can “be triggered by both internal and external cues, and that may or may not result in overt sexual behaviour”. Sexual desire can be aroused through imagination and sexual fantasies, or perceiving an individual whom one finds attractive. Sexual desire is also created and amplified through sexual tension, which is caused by sexual desire that has yet to be consummated.

Sexual desire can be spontaneous or responsive. Sexual desire is dynamic, can either be positive or negative, and can vary in intensity depending on the desired object/person. The sexual desire spectrum is described by Stephen B. Levine as: aversion → disinclination → indifference → interest → need → passion.

A guide to basic written Hololive Japanese

Hi! As more overseas viewers discover Hololive, I think it would be helpful for newbies to understand some of the basic terms. My goal here is to provide some basic vocabulary and translation tips in order to understand the gist of:

 • Video titles
 • Live chat + YouTube comments
 • Tweets

Of course, this is an incomplete list and does not include names or talent-specific memes, so I highly appreciate any contributions in the comments!

0) Use a better translator

Although Google Translate is the most popular translator, it is not very good at translating Japanese. I instead recommend DeepL. DeepL's JP -> EN translations are more accurate and natural sounding, even if it has hiccups at times. They even have a desktop app with a CTRL-C x2 shortcut. Other recommendations include Apple's translation app and jisho (for phrases). If you can navigate it, NND's encyclopedia and seesaawiki can provide answers for net-specific terms.

Some caveats when translating:

 • The software is not perfect, so take translations with a grain of salt. Please be especially careful when translating gossip/controversy.
 • The translator cannot accurately differentiate gender in sentences, so don't be surprised when "he/him" is used in place of "she/her"

In addition, some on-page translation extensions exist, namely Yomichan and Rikaichamp.

1) Basic vocabulary

'kusa' - Equivalent of 'lol'. Literally means 'grass'. 笑 'wara' - 'to laugh', is another synonym.

w

Also means "lol". Can be repeated (ww) which is the same as "lolol"

88888

used to indicate clapping.

かわいい

'kawaii' - cute.

RTA

'real time attack' - means 'speedrun'

'uta' - literally 'song'. If used in a video title, usually indicates a singing stream.

Addtionally, 歌ってみた (utattemita) literally means 'I sang it'. オリジナル曲/オリジナルソング ('orijinaru kyoku / orijinaru songu') indicates an original song. カバー or 'kabaa' indicates a cover of a song.

ナイス

'naisu' - nice. Often used to congratulate on completing a game milestone.

おおお

'ooo' - equivalent of "oooooh" or "ohhhhh".

'a' - when used by itself it is like 'ah.' and is used when a streamer messes up in a game or does something

ILPT If your online exam app disqualifies you if you change tab/window. Open the exam in a virtual machine and cheat through the host machine.

The way they proctor this is by continuously checking if the exam window is the "active window". Here "window" is synonymous to browser tab. Your machine has track of all windows/tabs and only one of them can be active at a time (there are other ways to hack this). If you click outside the exam window, your exam window becomes "inactive" and they will know something fishy is going on, most systems usually disqualify right away.

So if you open the Exam in a browser inside a virtual machine, you can use a keyboard shortcut to cut back the controls to your host machine, where you can do anything, operate any window, while the exam window is always active inside the VM. The exam window won't be able to track any of your actions in the host machine. Just one thing you need to be sure of, is that your exam software doesn't log keystrokes(which you will use to switch between machines). Some cheaper exam systems don't go that far, but just make sure.

EDIT : I wrote this while keeping in mind a system with following features > Mic and Camera on for full duration. > Snapshots are sent every few moments and manually proctored in real time. So you can't move your lips a lot to talk. Or look at other screens. > They claim AI powered eye tracking. > Limitations on headwear > Have to be alone in the room and should have decent lighting. > And much more..

EDIT 2 : The exam I attended was browser based, it is called AMCAT.

"And thats the WAAAAAY, the News goes", is actually quite profound, and genius.

I always considered this an absoutely genius catchphrase. Why? Because even though it is used by Rick in a humorous context, it actually has deeper connotations. So much so that several other sayings/catchphrases/etc, can be used in place of it, as Synonyms. Examples are; 1."That's the way the cookie crumbles" 2. "Such is life" 3. "Whataya gonna do?" 4. "it is what it is" 5. "that's life" 6. "Shit happens"

Can anybody else list any active synonyms for this genius catchphrase? I was thinking somebody should write up a proper urban dictionary listing for it too.

The Mantid could have told each side how bad things could get.

The Mantid Free Worlds would tell the Lanaktallan that the Sol System was guarded, armored, and armed like nothing they had ever seen before. Temporal stabilizers, stellar mass regulators, gravitic parsers were the least of Fortress TerraSol's defenses. Compressed solar corona weapons, C+ cannon batteries, and even more esoteric offensive weapons, right down to superstring compressor cannons. Anyone invading TerraSol should be prepared to take casualties in the millions, the billions just to land on the planets. The Mantid could have told them that fighting Terrans on a planet on their home turf was a nightmare of super-weapons, atomic detonations, suicide attacks, and even orbital bombardment on their own cities and that anyone willing to land even on just Terra should be prepared to take casualties in the billions just to make the landing and ten times that for every year it took to completely obliterate the Terrans. They would have told the Lanaktallan that the humans believed "you can always take one with you" and would literally fight to the last Terran man, woman, and child, and that the child would let the spoon fly free on an implosion grenade while staring your soldiers right in the eyes without even flinching. The Mantid would have warned the Lanaktallan: They give you one warning: Surrender or be destroyed.

The Mantid Omniqueen could have told the Terrans, had she known they existed, that the Lanaktallan gave no thought to how many members of the Great Herd had to die if it meant the continuation of the Great Herd. Even a Mantid Overqueen will ensure there is at least enough to tend to the eggs laid by the Queens, to keep the hive running. The Lanaktallan had the resources to rebuild from a single grouping. Genetic locking made inbreeding malformations of their genetic code impossible, so that fatal flaw in so many genetics would mean nothing. The Mantid Overqueen would have told the humans that the Lanaktallan were willing to clog their guns with the bodies of Lanaktallan dead if it meant the Great Herd survived. No, I don't need to get drunk and party in my college years to enjoy life. And no, that's not "what you do in college"

People have normalised partying and getting drunk as a synonym for fun. My friends actively express concern over the fact that I don't wanna go out clubbing with them. In the last year I've heard things like "Do you have something against having fun? Lol", "When are you gonna enjoy life?", "You're boring." Etc. We are so fucked up as a society if an average youngster's definition of fun and enjoying life ends at this.

It's also a terrible notion that you're supposed to do this in your college years. People will make you feel like there's something wrong with you if you care about your future and your academics. First few years of your adulthood sets a foundation for your personality. You're supposed to develop yourself, make yourself a better person, discover yourself and whatnot, instead of getting wasted every other night. Grow up ffs.

AlterOne - Chapter 1 (Tell me what you think!)

The sound of hard leather boots against wood filled the air as they rushed through the halls and up the stairs, drawing closer. Akko fell back against the wall and slid to the floor, his eyes went to the mirror across the darkened room, visible by the dim light that shown from the crescent moon. Hair matted with sweat and dirt, nose broken, while from his lips, a linear streak of blood now trickled. He looked down, the blood seeping through his fingers as he held his stomach in an effort to slow the bleeding. He raised his head, leaning it back against the wall, and looked out of the window and into the night sky. While the possibility of death seemed to be an imminent reality; his thoughts turned to the disheartening revelation that had come upon him.

His breathing heavy, Akko watched as his Cloud Town opponent, struggled to his feet defiantly, lifting himself up from the earthen field on which the combatants fought. His brown and blue fighter’s uniform was greatly singed, while his face bore ash marks from an earlier attack by Akko. The crowd in the stadium was solidly behind Akko, cheering on who many felt would soon be the National Champion, sure that with the match in its final minutes, he would be taking the victory. With the match leaning in Akko’s favor, he knew that these last few minutes of action were more than enough time for his opponent to make a comeback. Looking at him now, Akko could see that this man held a desire to win that went deeper than advancing to the finals of this tournament. Akko hadn’t lost in singles competition in the past year, the opportunity to make it one step closer to the finals and tournament victory was ever present, but this guy was persistent. Seeing his opponent on his feet now, Akko brought his right leg behind his left, getting into position as he moved back into the counter form, a style he had been using much of the match against the fast and aggressive style of his opponent. The results of the match were shown on the Cloud Town competitor, hunched forward, he held his side as he took a step forward. In the same moment, Akko spun around, switching stances—seeing the moment’s hesitation, he struck out in swift fashion, sending a series of bursts of flame at his opponent, who was only able to roll out of the way, sliding along the ground out of harm. The dust from the flurry was mixed with an over usage of smoke from Akko’s fiery attack. The Cloud Town fighter scanned within the smoke, able to make out a s

The Most Flawless Game in Survivor History:

I’ve seen quite a few people on here lately posting about Guatemala – and specifically Danni’s game. While most people agree that Danni is a good winner, I’m going to try and shed some light on her game, which is genuinely flawless and one of the most elite single-season performances ever seen on Survivor. I especially wanted to do this because so many people denounced her as a good player after Winners at War. I’m totally open to debate in the comments! Just please take the time to read this through first; remember that “flawless” and “best” are not synonymous in the context of this post – I’ll explain this later on. But anyway, here is my discussion on why Danni Boatwright played the most flawless game in Survivor history. This is a long and thoroughly researched discussion so there is a TLDR at the end of the post!

As you guys all probably know, Danni infamously hid her strategy from production (this will be detailed later on), so the nuances of her game were not shown on camera. In fact, Guatemala was an insanely complex season strategically, and like The Australian Outback and Fiji, a lot of it did not make the edited show – so I hope this post helps you realise just how good of a game Danni played. Since a vast amount of her game was not shown, I have taken the time over the last few months to listen to interviews, read websites/articles, and thoroughly research her game, so I can assure you that this is as accurate as I could make it. I will go through her entire game first, and then discuss.

Danni was in control of both of her pre-merge tribes; a vivid contrast to her merge game, where she was the bona fide Survivor underdog. On Nakúm she was comfortably situated in a majority alliance of herself, Brandon, Bobby Jon, Brooke, Margaret, and Blake. She had a final three deal with Brooke and Margaret, as well as a final two deal with Brandon – ensuring that she would never be the first one targeted. However, everyone on the tribe came together to vote off Jim first simply because he asked to be voted out (he tore his bicep and was very physically weak from the fifteen-mile hike to camp).

Danni was the leader of her tribe, but she led in a way that did not make her a target (as was often the case in the older seasons). Surrounding herself with people such as Bobby Jon and Brandon who would always be targeted over her, Danni was at the top of the Nakúm totem pole yet no one ever saw her that way. Her tribe comfortably won the next two challe

Considering an amendment to Honest Characterization (rule 6)

2 years ago this sub's comments were almost all personal attacks and dishonest characterizations of arguments. It was hard to discuss anything because the goal was to score illicit debating points from 3rd parties rather than genuinely address the arguments. Moving away from that infuriated a lot of people whose identity is tightly tied to being asses but we seem finally to have that behind us.

One of my goals as mod has been to steadily raise the bar on discussion. To take one of the most divisive topics on reddit and make the discussion better. We have done a very good job as a sub on people making points and then others deliberately misquoting them out of context in dishonest ways to make them look bad. This happens far less frequently. One area that I think still comes up with Honest Characterization is the issue of speaker's not meaning what they say and then being offended when they are taken at their word. A few examples:

 • "1967 lines" would mean Jerusalem is divided with the Temple Mount and even the Kotel in Palestine. While Hebrew University would be in Israel the road connecting it to the city would be in Palestine. The border settlements would be in Palestine not Israel. Most people who say "1967 lines" today like to deliberately blur the distinction between Oslo's process of a border loosely based on the 1967 lines but with substantial mutually agreed upon border adjustments and the UN's position of an absolute hard border determined by where armies happened to stop in 1949. This blurring to my mind is at the very least misleading and I'd argue quite often deliberately outright dishonest.

 • "Anti-Zionism" when they actually mean Liberal Zionism or non-Zionism. People learn the incorrect term so this often comes from ignorance and as a sub we should correct this. I still owe this sub some more posts on anti-Zionism as an ideology to help this effort along. But if a person characterizes themselves or talks about groups that are anti-Zionist knowing what the term means they are then being dishonest pretending that the implications aren't carried along with it naturally. Knowing anti-Zionism is a rejection of Liberal and non-Zionism not a synonym for those beliefs.

 • "Destruction of Israel". Destruction means, "the action or process of causing so much damage to something that it no longer exists or cannot be repaired". Israel is a state. Destruction of Israel means the state is no longer capable of controlling activities

YSK there is a growing body of research that suggests the risk of dementia can be reduced by up to 40% simply through lifestyle choices.

Disclaimers up front: first, I am not a medical professional. Second, in researching this I learned “dementia” and “Alzheimer’s” are not synonymous. Alzheimer’s Disease is simply the most common form of dementia. There are other, less common forms, such as vascular dementia.

I was first introduced to this idea by seeing this article on worldnews. At first, I was skeptical. I’ve seen a lot of pop-science articles that are more “pop” and less “science.” But this article was about a study that was co-authored by a very well-cited professor and building on an existing body of research from 2017. Which is what legitimate science tends to look like.

Ok, enough stalling, there are12 lifestyle factors that have been shown to increase the risk of dementia. So here they are, in decreasing order of impact:

 • Hearing Loss – loss of hearing in middle age is linked to higher incidence of dementia and is the biggest risk factor of the 12. Wearing a hearing aid has been shown to effectively offset the dementia risk from hearing loss.
 • Lack of Education – reaching a higher education level before 45 is correlated with a reduced risk of dementia.
 • Smoking – smokers have a higher rate of dementia. Stopping smoking, even with subjects over 60 years old, has been linked to a reduced likelihood of developing dementia.
 • Depression – depression is linked to higher rates of dementia. It is currently still unknown whether treatment with antidepressants can effectively combat this, as studies don’t always make distinctions between treated and untreated individuals. (Edit: I know depression isn't fully under someone's control. Not all of these factors are.)
 • Social Isolation – More social activity, especially later in life, has been shown to lower the risk of developing dementia.
 • Traumatic Brain Injury – Concussions and other head trauma has been shown to increase the likelihood of developing dementia, especially if they happen later in life.
 • Air Pollution – higher levels of certain air pollutants have been shown to increase dementia risk. Much of the pollution examined is generated by more traffic and automobile use, though another common produ

Frantic

To a large extent, I can summarize my SGI experience in a single word … FRANTIC.

Synonyms that spring to mind include agitated, chaotic, distraught, excited, frenzied, hectic, hyper, overwrought, out of control, weird, and worked up. I can think of occasions when all have been in evidence. But I think frantic says it best:

 • Frantic Daimoku
 • Frantic Gongyo
 • Frantic events (e.g. 50K)
 • Frantic activities in support of events
 • Frantic attempts to bring back lapsed members
 • Frantic focus on statistics
 • Frantic emails and text messages
 • Frantic meetings
 • Frantic …
 • Frantic ...
 • The list goes on.

I don’t appreciate frantic behavior - especially not in religion. I value behavior and practices that are balanced, calm, collected, composed, contemplative, rational, tranquil; and an organization that is exempt from fanaticism and dogmatism.

A Chinese Guy's Review of Guy Gavriel Kay's Under Heaven

>At the absolute summit of accomplishment the insects chewing from within at the most extravagant sandalwood may be heard, if the nights are quiet enough.

I am nominally Chinese, though I understand I am not very good at being Chinese. I speak both Mandarin and Cantonese, but only read Chinese at the level of a particularly slow 3-year-old. I did, however, grew up in a Chinese community and there are some stories that I picked up just by soaking in the culture, without meaning to, like pruny fingers in a bathtub. The story of Yang Guifei is familiar to me in broad strokes, mostly because she is to my people who Helen of Troy is to the west—a woman remembered in history for her beauty, and blamed for the collapse of a great nation. She was the subject of many Hong Kong TV shows and movies, and of course, with her story came An Lushan and his rebellion in the Tang Dynasty. And that is what Guy Gavriel Kay’s Under Heaven is all about.

There is no name in literature more synonymous with historical fantasy than Mr Kay’s name, and it had been tardy for a fan of the subgenre such as myself to have neglected his body of work for this long. And furthermore, he is also famed for the exquisiteness and lyricism of his prose—which I thought is quite on brand for someone tapped by Christopher Tolkien to help put his dad’s notes together into The Silmarillion. There are many quotes and turns of phrases that I noted down from Under Heaven, simply because of how evocative they are, and they are a pleasure to read even in isolation from the story. It is a glacier of a book: it moves slowly, but boy, what a beautiful and majestic experience it is. This, I feel, is the primary strength of Guy Gavriel Kay as an author, along with the evident care he put into his research. The Kitai empire he envisioned simply felt right and authentic to a Chinese reader like me because he clearly did his homework.

But to drag the metaphor of a glacier even further, there are aspects of the book that left me cold. While I get the impulse to substitute the rigidity of history with the flexibility of fantasy, I wonder why Under Heaven remained so inflexibly faithful to the actual events of the An Lushan rebellion. Why bother to change the name of the historical figures, when the changes are so comically small? Like An Lushan became An Li alias Roshan, the Tang capital of Xi’an became Xinan, Daming Palace became Ta-Ming Palace, and—my personal pet peeve

People come in here with an image of a sociopath in their mind and then attempt to invalidate other people's description of their own experience on the grounds that it doesn't perfectly match their preconceived assumptions. It is by no means a problem that is exclusive to this sub. Fundamentalists are found everywhere because externalizing internal insecurities by telling other people they are wrong about themselves is easier than self examination. With that in mind, let's define some terms!

Keep in mind, I am not an authority on this. I'm just writing down how I've seen these terms being used in the sub. These are the definitions as they are used, not necessarily what you would find in a dictionary. As such, it is likely that I will miss some of the meanings. If there is a common use for a word I've missed, or if I've missed a useful term entirely, please mention it in the comments.

Sociopath (noun)

 1. A person who has been diagnosed with ASPD but is not a psychopath
 2. A synonym for psychopath indicating it is a social disease rather than a disease of the mind
 3. A person with low empathy as a result of childhood trauma rather than genetic predisposition
 4. A person with elevated traits of secondary psychopathy
 5. A subclinical psychopath
 6. "sOcIoPaThS dOn'T eXiSt!"
 7. Somebody who just lacks empathy (HellfireOrpheusTod)
 8. Not just somebody who lacks empathy (beetsalt)
 9. (in science) A study participant who meets the trait parameters of sociopathy/psychopathy which are being studied and is defined as such for the purpose of the study (Loutzipher)
 10. "You've probably just got autism" (some_girl_somewhere)
 11. Humanity's natural born leaders; the necessary herders (generals, politicians, rulers, cult leaders, religious leaders, cultural icons, CEOs) of the masses of sheeple. The core features of sociopathy (lack of empathy, superficial charm, strategic, manipulative, ability to read others, large ego) are the perfect skill set needed to lead/maintain a peaceful/stable society. Stop using the word "hate" as a replacement for "dislike"

I'm so sick of being told "Why do you hate it?" when I say I dislike something, these words are not synonymous to each other. When growing up, my father taught me the meaning of words, in which using the word "hate" should only be towards something you cannot stand, something you wish didn't exist, it's an extremely strong emotion towards something.

Meanwhile, if I say I don't like a certain youtube, people will call you a "hater", which is just plain stupid. People need to learn that words have meaning, and you can't just throw them around all willy-nilly, it just proves how incredibly uneducated you are when you use words wrong.

I recently made a post about an issue I see with apple users, compared to android/windows/linux users, and people started to shout out that I hated on Apple, yet I never claimed such, I just made a statement that I dislike some of their stuff.

Stop throwing the word "hate" out like it means "dislike", it literally doesn't mean that.

Here's one of it's many description " to feel extreme enmity toward : to regard with active hostility "

It's possible to dislike something, without having to hate it, and if you throw the word out left and right as a replacement, you need to expand your vocabulary.

SEO is easy. The EXACT process we use to scale our clients' SEO from 0 to 200k monthly traffic and beyond

Hey guys!

There's a TON of content out there on SEO - guides, articles, courses, videos, scams, people yelling about it on online forums, etc etc..

Most of it, however, is super impractical. If you want to start doing SEO TODAY and start getting results ASAP, you'll need to do a TON of digging to figure out what's important and what's not.

So we wanted to make everyone's lives super easy and distill our EXACT process of working w/ clients into a stupid-simple, step-by-step practical guide. And so we did. Here we are.

A bit of backstory:

If you guys haven't seen any of my previous posts, me and my co-founder own an SEO/digital marketing agency, and we've worked w/ a ton of clients helping them go from 0 to 200k+ monthly organic traffic. We've also helped some quite big companies grow their organic traffic (from 1M to over 1.8M monthly organic), using the exact same process.

So without further ado, grab your popcorn, and be prepared to stick to the screen for a while, cause this is going to be a long post. Here's everything I am going to cover:

 • Get your website to run and load 2x - 5x faster (with MINIMAL technical know-how)
 • Optimize your landing pages to rank for direct intent keywords (and drive 100% qualified leads)
 • Create amazing, long-form content that ranks every time
 • How we get a TON of links to our website with ZERO link-building efforts
 • How to improve your content’s rankings with Surfer SEO

Step #1 - Technical Optimization and On-Page SEO

Step #1 to any SEO initiative is getting your technical SEO right.

Now, some of this is going to be a bit technical, so you might just forward this part to your tech team and just skip ahead to "Step #2 - Keyword Research."

If you DON'T have a tech team and want a super easy tl;dr, do this:

 • Use WP Rocket. It's a WordPress plugin that optimizes a bunch of stuff on your website, making it run significantly faster.
 • Use SMUSH to (losslessly) compress all the images on your website. this usually helps a TON w/ load speed.

If you’re a bit more tech-savvy, though, read on!

Technical SEO Basics

Sitemap.xml file. A good sitemap shows Google how to easily navigate your website (and how to find all your content!). If your site runs on WordPress, all you have to do is install YoastSEO or Rankmath SEO, and they’ll create a sitemap for you. Otherwise, you can use an online XML Sitemap generation tool.

Proper website architecture. The crawl depth of any page should be lower than

Happily Ever After Book Report, episode 9

Colt-ee, Jess & Debbie: After Debbie's truth bomb went off last week that Coltee's friend Vanessa is still in the picture, Jess is rightfully pissed off and went storming out of the hotel. This gave Debbie the perfect opportunity to comfort Colt, and try to get him to forget about Brazilian girls for good so they can live their best Bates Motel life back in Sin City. But no, Colt-ee wanted to go after Jess to see if he can work things out. He waddled out towards the elevator to stop Jess from leaving, but she was fast, and ducked out to the emergency staircase. When he finally caught up with Jess downstairs, she was screaming at him and claiming that he was trash, and the only logical thing to do would be to go sleep with her ex boyfriend. Seems like a mature, rational solution… Colt felt hurt and finally admitted it was his fault (conveniently after he was caught…). Later on, Jess came back to Coltee's hotel room, pulling out a move from the Darcey hand book by hurling her shoes at his head. Colt of course (much like Mister Meester) saw his life flash before his eyes. It was a good thing he had his mommy there! Looks like there's plenty more fighting in store for next week!

Kalani & Asuelu: After last week's argument in the car, Asuelu was barely speaking to Kalani. The two seemed to make up and bond over a supernatural experience at the haunted AirBNB. Apparently they both saw a ghost while using the bathroom, or a ghost who uses the bathroom...something about a ghost and a bathroom. Sister Kolini showed up to tag along for the visit with Asuelu's family (Maybe so Kalani had help with the kids? Maybe so Kalani had someone on her side when the angry Samoans attacked her WWF style?? Maybe production offered to pay for her trip to Washington and she was in the mood for an awkward good time?? Or maybe Option D; all of the above.) Ka (lani and lini), Asuelu and the wagon brothers met up with Asuelu's family at the same town square where David met Lana (Budget cuts. Have to reuse locations). They all greeted each other warmly, especially Asuelu's mom, who thought they were playing spin the bottle. Kalani felt slightly awkward watching her mother in law make out with her husband, but then she called Debbie, who assured her it was totally normal. The entire clan wandered over to a food truck place to sample various portable cuisines. Asuelu only wanted "the best of the best" for his mom and sisters, so he just let the nice food truck operators make the

If you've come across this post while researching the ritual, then you've found your answer. It's real. DON'T attempt it.

I'll just lay out the ritual's instructions here:
Seat on the ground and draw an unbroken circle around yourself. Visualize it completely surrounding you with protection.

Place the First Element behind you, just outside the circle. Say, “This is my purification, the removal of my doubt. I am [name], I come in faith.”

Place the Second Element to your right, just outside the circle. Say, “This is my essence, my identification. I am [name], I come in truth.”

Place the Third Element to your left, just outside the circle. Say, “This is my gift, sweetness and strength. I am [name], I come in grace.”

Place the Object in front of you so that it crosses the circle. Be careful never to see yourself at any time in the Object. Say, “This is the bridge. I am [name], I come to commune.”

-

I was raised in a cult.

I’m posting this anonymously (this reddit account was bought), and changing the names and places involved, because I know they can still find us if I slip up and use our real information or reference certain specifics from before. We have crossed several state lines, and go by different names now, but I know it’s not enough to keep us hidden from them forever.

I would not be writing this at all, except that the information is already out there in different forms, and you need to have all the facts. If you’re reading this, you are probably researching the ritual I just described. It appears under several different names, none of which I’ll use here. Maybe you laughed it off as fiction, maybe you’re considering doing it just for fun. Maybe you’re desperate for answers about the afterlife or something bigger and are willing to try it. Or maybe you’re a fool like me, and you want to do it to prove to someone else it’s not real.

Please read this. I know you’re skeptical — maybe as skeptical as I was.

You can call me “John.” To understand why I was so cynical, you have to know where I’m coming from. I grew up in “The Way of Shining Glory.” Don’t bother researching it. As I’ve said, I’m changing all the names. Even if you knew the actual name, no reliable information would come from a web search on it. Though, it’s possible that just running the name through a search engine might get your activity flagged by a “Disciple of the Way,” and draw the attention of the cult.

Of course, growing up, we didn’t think of it as a cult. We thought it was normal for everyone to only wear linen robes and no shoes. We thought it was natural that we al

Game IX.B 2020: GI Joe Vs. Cobra: Operation Springfield - Rules, Roles And Registration

In September there will be two games running simultaneously:

• Game A: Nicktoons vs Disney: The Childhood Takedown - hosted by /u/ravenclawroxy, /u/bubbasaurus, and /u/threemadness; shadowed by /u/Team-Hufflepuff and /u/CynicForever7. The facilitator account is /u/TheMissingRemote.

• Game B: GI Joe vs. Cobra: Operation Springfield, hosted by /u/HedwigMalfoy and /u/Sameri278 and shadowed by /u/Moonviews. The facilitator account is /u/HWW_GeneralHama.

If you have been removed from two or more games in the past 12 months for inactivity or rule violations, you may not sign up for either game. Neither game has a player cap. If you are a returning player and sign up for either game with an alt account, it must be a publicly known alt. There are no secret alts allowed.

###You can sign up for either game here or let fate (aka the permamods) decide which game you will join.

This game of HWW is based on the 1980s action figure, cartoon and comic franchise GI JOE. No knowledge of the theme or characters is necessary to play the game, nor will familiarity provide any advantages or disadvantages.

"GI JOE is the codename for America's daring, highly trained, special mission force! Its purpose: to defend human freedom against COBRA, an evil and ruthless organization determined to rule the world!"

The nature of the GI Joe team is covert - most, if not all of their missions are highly classified and as such are considered TOP SECRET. The Joe Team is carefully composed of members from different military branches and backgrounds who bring a wide variety of special talents to the team. It is widely held that an incredibly skilled and eclectic team such as GI Joe is the only thing that can stand up to the serious threat that is COBRA.

Cobra began as a single evil and ambitious man looking to make his way in the world but has become a giant snake with its coils tightening about the globe! By the time the world recognized what a threat Cobra was, the group had already become a powerful independently funded criminal organization and private army with global footholds.

Your ego is the 'antichrist'

TL/DR: You are that which is reading this right now, that which you are not is that which is thinking about what you are reading right now.

TL/DR take 2: Hang onto your ego, to quote the Beach Boys. But do so loosely, to quote 38 Special.

“Where is it that we were together? Who were you that I lived with? The brother. The friend. Darkness, light. Strife and love. Are they the workings of one mind? The features of the same face? Oh, my soul. Let me be in you now. Look out through my eyes. Look out at the things you made. All things shining.” ~ The Thin Red Line, dir. Terrence Malick (1998)

“Years will come and years will go I just wanted you to know That people places names and faces Are dying in the skies before they're born And you can't turn those feelings off Even though you can make them stop It was told in times that came before That someone with less would give you more” ~ Hella, Anarchists Just Wanna Have Fun

Two Egos: The first thing to get out of the way is the two egos, because there are two in our lexicon and the vast majority of people confuse or conflate them. The first ego is the one stemming from ancient philosophy and early-20th century psychoanalysis. This ego is more or less synonymous with your waking consciousness. It is that which is reading these words this very moment, aware of the sensation of the floor against the soles of your feet and the fabric of your shirt on your torso, and that which is receiving thoughts or impressions from your subconscious mind about what you’d really, really like to have for dinner. This ego, at least in the Jungian sense, is the conscious awareness which is spread throughout the entire human body (if you so wish, you could include the chakras or the mapping of the sefirot onto the body in order to understand this; as in, ‘heart-mind’ or ‘gut feeling’--it is important to note that we have neurons in the heart and the gut, not only in the brain).

The intellect, or rational and logical mind, is not synonymous with this ego--although it’s an integral and key component of it. Speaking mythologically, this is the promethean ha-satan (I am speaking gnostically as well as mythologically, this satan is not the satan of traditional myth or, rather, it is a different angle from which to view this force) who desires to grab the fruit from the tree and have the scales fall from its eyes. It is the root of curiosity, understanding, discernment, and self-consciousness. Often, this is a component of what

A comprehensive Jehovah's Witness speak dictionary.

The further I get from being mentally in the harder it's getting for me to remember the new speak that JWs employ. I decided to document everything I can remember and figured I would make it public in case anyone else can contribute or make use of this.

I really want this to be as accurate as possible. So please call me out if I am making any assumptions, if anything is incorrect, outdated, or misrepresented and I will change it. I want someone who has never heard of JWs before to be able to use this as a reference to understand what they're saying.

New words and phrases:

 • Anointed - Exactly 144,000 people will be faithful enough to go to heaven when they die, they are called the anointed. They are hand selected by Jesus. "Can you believe Sister Smith is one of the anointed?"

 • Babylon the Great - Synonym False Religion. All religions that are not JWs, especially other Christian religions. Can also refer to practices deemed pagan. "I used to be Catholic, then I got out of Babylon the Great."

 • Bad Association - Negative connotation. Anyone who is not a JW, or is a JW but does not live up to your standards of spirituality. People you should not befriend or spend time with. "We used to invite Jimmy over for pizza nights, but based on the movies he watches he's bad association."

 • Bethel - Usually the world headquarters in New York, sometimes a branch office in a specific place. "We are visiting Bethel this weekend, then going to Canada Bethel next weekend."

 • Bethelite - Someone who volunteers for Bethel. Either physically at a branch office or over the internet. "I cannot wait to hear the Bethelite's talk."

 • Branch Office - Local headquarters of JWs assigned to specific countries. "We wrote a letter to the brothers in the Mexico branch office."

 • Brazen Conduct - Anything done disrepectfully, against the recommendation of the Elders, causing someone to stumble, or having a bad attitude. Practically, a catch-all term. "We asked her to wear more modest clothing, but she didn't listen. Now we must take action due to her brazen conduct."

 • Call - Synonymous with Return Visit. A person visited again and again by a specific publisher. Typically with the goal of starting a Bible study. "I have three calls to make today." or "I reported 5 return visits last month."

 • Circuit - A group of congregations in a geographic area overseen by a Circuit Overseer.

 • Circuit Assembly - A tw

Armin, Historia and Mikasa: their relationship with Eren.

Historia, Armin and Mikasa. My thoughts on their relationship with Eren and how it will evolve.

This might be too long just for a thought but this is what I envision their relationship to be, so i just thought it might make some people change their mind about some things like "Eren hates Mikasa" or "EreMin/EreHisu have no chemistry". I wish you a good read!

As a kid, Eren's only friends were Mikasa and Armin. He met Armin first. But we first have a story on how he met Mikasa. Before he even met her, he wanted to save her from the slavetraders. He witnessed her parents' dead bodies and could not accept her freedom being taken away. So he killed them and activated Mikasa's Ackermann genes as well. Later that day he wrapped that famous scarf around her. What I interpret to be her symbol of hope, a new life, that after she had no reason of living, was gifted to her by Eren. A happy family life, with Eren by her side. And she wears it everyday hoping she will get that life back when everything is over. Mikasa has been saved by him, and she is him truly grateful. She wants to stay by his side no matter what, since it's her only family left. But Eren sees it a different way. Eren wants her to live her own life, he doesn't want her to be involved in what he does. He doesn't want to be protected by her, because she needs to live without him. Since staying with him, would mean getting hurt. Pre-timeskip it would be by titans, post-timeskip it would be by the guilt of taking part to mass genocide. Same goes for the SC as of now.

That being said, Armin is different. Armin is the one who he showed the most respect to, he's the one who showed him what the outside world was. He made him realise he was in a cage, and that outside the cage they would be free. Armin was the one who showed him he wasn't free. And thus Eren started seeking for freedom.

Historia met Eren when he was at his low unlike Armin and Mikasa. He was unconfident, he thought he was someone special but he did nothing great for someone considered special. He was betrayed and felt low. He wasn't really happy but he kept doing his best with his experiments. Historia was in a similar state. Except that on top of that she lost everything. Ymir was gone and she had no reason to live anymore. She stopped being Christa and stopped givin

The iron hands and the corruption in their geneseed

Intro:-

The iron hands are the Xth legion/chapter of the space marines and loyal to the imperium of man. They are marked out as different to the rest of the adeptus astartes for their over reliance on bionic replacements with aged battleborn veterans being almost completely cybernetic with only the brain being of the flesh they once were.

Deep within their core beliefs they believe the flesh is weak and it was this failing that made them fail in saving their primarch and most of their legion upon istavaan

But this event merely accelerated their reliance on the machine and without ferrus their primarch to guide them against this (he was a firm believer they shouldn't rely on bionics) the practice ran rampant throughout the legion/chapter to the present day 40k

Main:-

The iron hands before their eventual re-unitement with their primarch during the crusade had very little bionically augmented marines, it was only when their primarch was found did they start mutilating themselves in this way. First it was just replacing their hands in emulation of ferrus with metal, ferrus had unique hands clad in living metal that he acquired during a fight on Medusa ( the legion homeworld) with a great silver wyrm, he plunged the creature into molten lava and the body of the beast melted and melded with his hands.

There has been speculation that the great silver wyrm was in fact a necron construct made with the living metal synonymous with that race, what if it wasn't just ferrus's hands that were altered but his whole genetic make-up and in turn corrupted the geneseed extracted from him. After a legion is reunited with their lost primarch their usual geneseed process is revolved around extracting genetic material from them to activate the process of creating new marines.

If ferrus's dna was corrupted and had within his make-up nercontyr/necron nano tech then they too would be past down to his marines as they would be in the geneseed.

There is facts that corroborate that ferrus's hands had some control over the primarch

"They are not my hands. This fact is forgotten by my brothers -- inexplicably, it has always seemed to me. The hands are strong, to be sure, and have created great things for us all, but they are not mine. And that counts for something. They forget that the silver on my arms comes from a beast that I vanquished. It is the mark of a great evil that I ended, and yet it persists within me... I would struggle to remove it now... I will not remove

Unpopular opinion - the economy has to become dynamic in order for it to have any longevity (and other musings on the progression)

^(Ain't no one gonna read this but here it goes!)

The issue of progression has recently been gaining some traction in the community with Klean and DeadlySlob covering this topic recently.

Now any solution to this has an inherent issue associated with it - it'll be uncomfortable to someone. Whatever is done, it'll negatively affect someone, just by the fact of change alone. You cannot make something better by not changing anything. So anything you do or don't do, you will alienate a portion of your playerbase.

Early/Mid-game vs Late game.

Early and mid game is lauded, late game is considered boring. But why? For startes, firefights last longer, require more skill, movement, tactics and outsmarting your opponent. You value your life, you feel respect even for the shittiest of bullets. You have a feeling that the kill is earned. Guns have tons of recoil so you need to pick your shots. It's... I know it's illegal... but it's fun.

Late game however is plagued with a number of issues. Gear gets dominated by very similar loadouts that cover approx 10% of the gear in the game. There's nowhere to progress as you've reached the ceiling. The excitement from killing a kitted player diminishes as time goes as the economy saturates. People start being picky with their loot and only the good stuff brings any sort of satisfaction. The hideout provides a steady, predictable stream of income.

You let it run long enough it becomes a mindless PVP battleground.

Side note - the black and white fallacy of the makeup of the community.

Casuals vs hardcores. Rats vs Chads. Whenever a discussion pops up this dichotomy is always present. "Feature X hurts casuals but doesn't bother hardcore gamers playing 8h a day". No. Like anything in life the population of EFT is subject to the bellcurve distribution. There are hardcore sweaties grinding out the kappa within a week and there are also sunday gamers. Then there's everything else in between. Let's keep that in mind.

You don't need to be a streamer or play the game as a full time job to make money. We have a discord for 30+ yr old gamers with families and all of us were swimming in roubles and gear after 3 months of the past wipe. Sure it takes us longer than streamers, but still.

A Mech's Life: You're Fired

Well, seems like people don't hate it so here's more.

Previous Next

--------------------------------------------------------------------

A few days before

Steve hung up the phone and rubbed the side of his head. It was just ten in the morning and he already felt miserable. At this point, he didn't remember if he was miserable because of the work he did or if it was a company requirement that everyone should suffer. His thirty seconds of blissful rest soon came to an end and he returned to the phone for more calls.

When noon came by, he was the first out of his cubicle and down to the cafeteria. Perhaps it was because he'd been there for over 7 years now but the stress and pressure were finally wearing him down.

Working in a call center was not a glamorous job but the pay was surprisingly good, perhaps management knew that no one would do this for minimum wage and retain their sanity. It only took a month for him to lose all faith in humanity after all.

He ate his sandwich in peace, no one else sitting at his table. He didn't mind it too much since none of his coworkers shared his hobbies, which were mainly regarded as nerdy things such as coding and mecha stuff. Lunch time was also the only period of the day that he wasn't actually talking to someone. Being 26 and living alone, Steve was not a social butterfly. His circle of friends was also rather small consisting mainly of online friends. His break over, he returned to his cubicle to finish up the rest of the day. As soon as he sat down, the light blinked on his phone, signifying a customer waiting for assistance.

"Hello, Dramon Communications, how can I help you today?"

Steve listened but only halfheartedly, he wasn't really into it today. His gaze was towards the lobby where a commotion seemed to be taking place. There seemed to be a shouting match going on and there was a lot of arm waving.

(Well, this might prove entertaining.)

"One second Miss, I'll put you on hold while I go verify your information in our database alright?"

"I..okay, I swear I did make that payment though."

Steve put the receiver back on the base and held the call while he went to investigate the scene. Approaching, he quickly realized that the situation was already very escalated.

"SIR! You can't go in there, i'm going to call security if you do!"

Space for Grief (inspired by reading Pete Walker)

As I mentioned in another post I made today, I'm reading a book by Pete Walker, which I've seen mentioned on here recently. I'm actually reading The Tao of Fully Feeling, not his other book specifically about c-PTSD. But I imagine he talks about the importance of grief in both.

This is re-inspiring me. I've been heavily influenced by something called Nonviolent Communication (NVC). A part of that framework is 'mourning' which is a synonym for grieving. It has been hugely helpful to me when I actively mourn/grieve. I've been pretty dead lately (high anxiety and checking out), so I want to try publicly grieving in hopes of coming back to life. If anyone else wants to share their griefs I want to start a space for that, though I can't guarantee I'll respond to every comment.

What this post is not: A place for advice (unless specifically asked for), including advice on what to physically do in a situation or how anyone should think about their situation. Let's trust that we are all doing the best we can and are the experts on our own lives, and not presume otherwise by offering unasked for advice.

What this post is: A place to be seen/heard for the sadnesses and sorrows of life without anyone trying to "fix" anyone. A place where it's OK to be not OK.

Ideas for how to respond to each other's comments:

With reflection and empathic questions is my preference. What I mean by empathic questions is guessing how people feel, as opposed to interrogative questions, which are about the details of a situation. Example of possible interrogative questions: "How long has this been going on for? Have you talked to anyone about this? What have you tried to do to resolve this?" Example of reflection and empathic questions: I hear that you feel sad and confused about this situation. While reading your comment, I also wondered if you are feeling angry, because I might feel angry in that situation. If you have other requests for how you want people to respond to you, include it in your comment.

Any expression grief is welcome, but my framework for mourning/grieving is influenced by NVC, which focuses on what is going on, how I feel about it, and what needs are not being met in the situation. The Internet replaced my ability to think independently (and in consequence took away my sense of Self). This is my advice with 15 years of experience on the Net, and why you should run away from it.

Disclaimer: I'm not only describing my experience but also offering down-to-earth-not-bullshit advice on how to beat this addiction. There will be a TL:DR at the end of this post because I respect your time, but if you take the effort to read the whole thing, you may understand your problem, break the chains and say no to this crap, like I am doing. Enjoy.

Introduction

Yeap. It happened. I realized about it while I was l laying on the bed with my phone binging Reddit and Netflix when the battery went off. And there I was. Feeling a void in the space, without nothing to do and a breath of dispair cheered around my corpse. And then I could understand that I was not breathing well. I took a deep one of those and let it out entirely, letting my brain heal. Again. And again. Then I heared the neighbor's dogs bark outside, the bugs annoying noise and the snors of my father next door. There I was, with an emptiness of mind. I did understand what was happening, but my brain did not want to.

My story

The journey on the Internet started since I was a little kid. I remember having a low speed connection around 2005 when I was 7 years old, binging around many games on the net trying to entertain me while my parents worked all day and took responsibility for the house's chores. Then Youtube came over and however I wasn't too deep into it, I remember that my main means of communication was MSN Messenger with my school peers. Then was Facebook. Then was Whatsapp. Then Instagram. The name changed through time but the medium stayed exactly the same.

I was always the "quiet kid". This definition continued during high school, even college. Not really quiet, but the better word is "numb". A synonym? Ingenuos. I never related well with my peers and always thought they were making fun of me whenever and wherever I went. Today I also feel this way. But it is not their fault. Why? Because I turned the Internet my main mean of communication.

My journey on Reddit and why it is the most addict site on the Web (even if we don't want to accept it)

And then I discovered it: Reddit. Oh boy. I discovered this platform in 2017 when I was looking to build a PC. By surprise it was really helpful! I owed it one. But then I discovered the front page. Hours, dozens, maybe thousands? of hours wasted on it, coming upon every subreddit I could find. Do you want to know the fun part? It is 100 times more entertaining than Facebook or Instagram. For every interest I had t

Common misconceptions about sexual consent, explained

It's important to understand sexual consent because sexual activity without consent is sexual assault. Before you flip out about how "everyone knows what consent is," that is absolutely not correct! Some (in fact, many) people are legit confused about what constitutes consent, such as this teenager who admitted he would ass-rape a girl because he learned from porn that girls like anal sex (overwhelmingly not true, in addition to being irrelevant), or this ostensibly well-meaning college kid who put his friend at STI risk after assuming she was just vying for a relationship when she said no, or this guy from the "ask a rapist thread" who couldn't understand why a sex-positive girl would not have sex with him, or this guy who seemed to think that because a woman was a submissive that meant he could dominate her, or this 'comedian' who haplessly made a public rape confession in the form of a comedy monologue, or this 'well-liked kid' who thought good girls always had to fight a little the first time. In fact, researchers have found that in acquaintance rape--one of the most common types of rape--perpetrators tend to see their behavior as seduction, not rape, or they somehow believe the rape justified.

Yet sexual assault is a tractable problem. Offenders often [rationalize their behavior](https://

People who respond to paragraph long texts with "haha I'm not reading that" are immature.

Reading comprehension and epistemology are essential skills and is a big part of why people fall for false news and other info because of how accesible the information is and simplistic in terms of language used. Besides reading a long text for the sake of learning or gaining info, if someone tells you about a traumatic experience and they have to retype it for you or give a TL:DR you'll miss significant details and also make them unnecessarily recall the trauma because you were too lazy to just read.

The entitlement to have everything be in footnotes form for you also makes me feel like you probably hate reading a book or anything in its entirety and lessens ones validity as an intelectual. Liking to read is not synonymous with being brilliant but if someone actively doesn't want want to learn because the task of reading something "long" is too daunting, you're shooting yourself in the foot and closing yourself off from many people and learning new things.

15 Tips for Writing a Strong Personal Statement

This is a bit late, but for those of you who are still working on your personal statements or don't plan to apply until next year, hope these tips will help you!

1) Answer the prompt

The AMCAS prompt reads “Use the space provided to explain why you want to go to medical school.” This is, hands down, the shortcoming I’ve seen the most of. I’ve read quite a few essays where the applicant's way of answering the prompt was by retelling a patient encounter that really inspired them. While that’s great, that doesn’t quite answer the prompt.

You can be inspired by a patient as a medical assistant or a scribe, and you can love working with patients, but that explains why you want to go into healthcare. After all, you can continue working with patients in your current position. If you love helping people and making fulfilling connections, you can do that as a psychologist or a social worker. You don’t need to explicitly say why you don’t want to go into other fields, but it does need to be clear why you specifically want to be a physician. The question you want to address is this: “What can’t you do right now that a doctor can do? How would going to medical school allow you to benefit others?”

2) Start early

When you first start shadowing and/or taking care of patients, write down any patient encounter that stands out to you or made an impact on you. This way, you’ll hopefully have a good variety of anecdotes to draw from for not just when you write your personal statement, but also when you go to medical school interviews.By accruing anecdotes early on, when it’s time to write your personal statement, you can see which experiences would be most powerful and would be more likely to tell your story to medical schools. Additionally, because our memories tend to falter over time, you’ll be able to draw from specific details because you’ve already written them down rather than trying to remember what happened a few months or years later

3) Addressing writer’s block

Your goal isn’t to write well, it’s to think well - Admissions committees understand that you’re not a journalist or an author. The goal here is to persuade and to express, and you can do that without delving in the complexities and formalities of writing.Write down your reasons for wanting to pursue medicine, and set up an outline. Then, forget all the formal rules and just let the words flow out. You’re not going to write a perfect personal statement the first time you set p

I understand you all have private lives, and that your life doesnt resolve around gachaunity, however, its been brought to my attention from a mod that they feel their doing most of the work on here and that their tired, their knackered their exhausted, every single synonym of the word tired in the book. Its a good thing a mod application has been made because im concerned that its affecting their mental health badly and since the application has been made, more active moderators will be avaliable later on when i read all of them. Anyhoo, i need more of a team effort please, i understand, gachaunity has been through a extremely big change, but its no excuse for laziness and packing baggage onto, 1 or 2 mods. Please, more effort, otherwise, i would advise leaving being a mod if you think you can't handle it, or you no longer care for being a mod. Thank you!

What is up with my brain? Identify problems.

*Identity problems. Fuck autocorrect.

Crying for help in the sense that I am looking for others thoughts on my thoughts in the hope that I can make sense of this.

This is my throwaway, because I am embarrassed to exist at this point.

This is long as fuck and I'm sorry, also if anyone knows me please know I will probably cry if you talk to me about this and I can't be anonymous. I barely want to acknowledge this but I'm desperate for input.

No TLDR because my energy is zero.

I transitioned FTM socially at 14 and medically at 16. (I am in my 20s now). I had top surgery and bottom surgery. Diagnosed. I was a "true transsexual" according to everyone.

I was so stable in that identity up until mid 2019 when I had a bad experience (online thankfully) with some guy. I guess it was some sort of self harm that I was doing, being in those types of spaces. He was the last straw and what he said threw me into a deep depression, I didn't feel like I was there anymore. Everything I enjoyed, I just didn't anymore. I've been crawling out of that.

I came across detrans stuff, I had before, but this time something stuck and I guess in my depression I saw past a lot of things that blocked my view before, I related and I realized I didn't hate being female, I hated myself and I so desperately didn't want to be her. I realized that after a certain point transition stopped helping me and instead made me worse which is what lead to that incident. I realized I am okay being female, I just hated what that meant for me in this society.

I grew up with so much fear of being attacked, I had it in my head that it was inevitable. I still have that, I actively avoided being alone with adult males when I was younger, even family, but I've gotten a bit better now. That fear was solidified in my parents and grandparents never shutting up about those stories, and me being exposed to extreme p*rn as a child. I guess I realized I viewed womanhood as synonymous with victimhood.

I realized that if I had therapy, real therapy that worked through my problems to find the root, to find how just how much of it was actually just based in self hate, internalised misogyny, and fear, then maybe I wouldn't have transitioned.

Some parts I'm okay with, I like having a flat chest. I like my leg hair. I liked the downstairs growth. Although I feel like I only like these because it signifies that my body isn't a little girls body anymore, which was the only experience I ever had as a female since

Rating the active roster based on last names alone.

Hey guys just waiting for the game to start so here it is.

##[Anderson] [1/10] Couldn't get any more boring than this. I had to look up some interesting facts on google to find something to talk about here. Did you know that 13% of all 'Andersons' in 1940 were farmers?

##[Burnes] [6/10] Pretty neat surname here. Definitely a step up from Anderson, but could be better. I think the uniqueness of the first name helps here a little too, but we are going by last name only. Burnes sounds more intimidating as a pitcher than a hitter, so he's earning an extra point or two based on that alone. If the team averaged a 6 I'd be happy.

##[Claudio] [5/10] I like this surname. It rolls off the tongue and it's easy to say. Unfortunately I had to dock points after reading the latin translation. The meaning of the name Claudio is: Has a limp; lame. 5 is still a solid number though and I'd still want this last name over Anderson, sorry Brett.

##[Feyereisen] [9/10] This is where it gets good. We are blessed to have such a breathtaking surname on our roster. Dominating the entire first page of google results, J.P.'s last name is a god amongst men. Most likely the first of his kind in the MLB, Feyereisen is a trendsetter. Earning at least 2 points for having the courage enough to bring such a godly surname into the league. If more Brewers players followed his lead and we averaged a 9/10 team, we will be unstoppable in 2021.

##[Grimm] [4/10] Like grim, but he decided to add one extra 'M' for Milwaukee. Tough to follow Feyereisen but that's the life of a Grimm. The thesaurus has some dramatic results for some of the synonyms of Grimm including gloomy, ominous, and somber. Reminding me too much of the 2020 season so you're losing points there.

##[Hader] [4/10] Just a personal opinion, and I'm sure you were expecting a higher number here being synonymous with 'Haderade' and all that. I just don't find it that exciting. Feyereisen is really carrying this team so far. Most likely no relation to the actor Bill, Josh still wins out with a better head of hair. Feyereisen really carrying this team so far.

##[Houser] [2/10] This one is bias because I can't help but think of a certain country singer sharing the same surname here, and I'm really not a fan of the music. But since I am a fan of the Brewers I can't give out a 1 unless your last name is Anderson.

##[Knebel] [3/10] Out of frustration. Alright Corey, if English class taught me anything, the 'K' in your surname

Since they're calling for r/btc to be banned...

Maybe it's time to discuss r/bitcoin's history again. Credit to u/singularity87 for the original post over 3 years ago.

People should get the full story of r/bitcoin because it is probably one of the strangest of all reddit subs.

r/bitcoin, the main sub for the bitcoin community is held and run by a person who goes by the pseudonym u/theymos. Theymos not only controls r/bitcoin, but also bitcoin.org and bitcointalk.com. These are top three communication channels for the bitcoin community, all controlled by just one person.

For most of bitcoin's history this did not create a problem (at least not an obvious one anyway) until around mid 2015. This happened to be around the time a new player appeared on the scene, a for-profit company called Blockstream. Blockstream was made up of/hired many (but not all) of the main bitcoin developers. (To be clear, Blockstream was founded before mid 2015 but did not become publicly active until then). A lot of people, including myself, tried to point out there we're some very serious potential conflicts of interest that could arise when one single company controls most of the main developers for the biggest decentralised and distributed cryptocurrency. There were a lot of unknowns but people seemed to give them the benefit of the doubt because they were apparently about to release some new software called "sidechains" that could offer some benefits to the network.

Not long after Blockstream came on the scene the issue of bitcoin's scalability once again came to forefront of the community. This issue came within the community a number of times since bitcoins inception. Bitcoin, as dictated in the code, cannot handle any more than around 3 transactions per second at the moment. To put that in perspective Paypal handles around 15 transactions per second on average and VISA handles something like 2000 transactions per second. The discussion in the community has been around how best to allow bitcoin to scale to allow a higher number of transactions in a given amount of time. I suggest that if anyone is interested in learning more about this problem from a technical angle, they go to r/btc and do a search. It's a complex issue but for many who have followed bitcoin for many years, the possible solutions seem relatively obvious. Essentially, curr

My TA4 Hope - Looking for opinions

So right now, we have 3 players from major groups for each team in TA. The current studs (FOTF 1), the future studs (FS), and the legendary studs (FOTF 2). Here's my idea for TA 4, the best of the century (so far). The best players of the last 20 years for each team. Obviously some of "the best" for each franchise might get passed over because they already have so many cards like Griffey, Ortiz, Posey, etc., but there are so many players that still fit the category and deserve cards. Going through each team below, let me know if you agree with the player I picked for you.

BAL - Adam Jones: Jones is no question one of the best players for the O's in recent memory. Considering Machado already has the awards card, Jones is the clearcut answer here.

BOS - Mookie/Youkilis: This one was tough. It wouldn't be Ortiz because he was just an Inning Boss and has a low diamond card, Pedroia already has a high diamond card, and Ramirez probably won't make it in the game due to his juicing scandals. Mookie is the best remaining, but could get an awards card on his right. Youk would be next and I hope I get him in the game solely for that weird ass stance.

NYY - Bernie/Matsui: A-Rod is a bit too polarizing and had steroid scandals, Jeter is an owner and that may cause problems. I'd love for both of them to be in the game, but I think the crown has to go to one of the fan-favorites in Bernie Williams or Hideki Matsui. Both key players for the Yanks during the 2000s.

TB - Carl Crawford: Longo just got his high diamond in the Ruth program, and Zobrist's diamond is still one of the best in the game. That leaves Carl Crawford as the Rays best player of the oughts. While he completely fizzled as soon as he left Tampa for Boston, Crawford was a very solid player with decent power and wheels.

TOR - Joey Bats: Bautista may have been most memorable at the end of his career, but he was an electric player for much of his time in Toronto. Give me Joey Bats, his pimped bat flip, and a boxing option with Odor.

CWS - Magglio Ordoñez: The White Sox, in all honesty, have had a rough 20 years despite winning it all in '05. Konerko was the best of the era, but since he already has his FOTF card, Ordoñez is the man.

CLE - Sizemore: Almost all of the best Indians of the last 20 years are still active. Santana, Lindor, Ramirez, Choo, Brantley, etc., a lot of good players, but one stands out and definitely works in this exercise. Grady Sizemore. Sizemore was a sneaky great player of t

Meditation is just active daydreaming

Daydreaming is healthy. With a computer in our pocket saving us from boredom, the brain doesn't have time off during the day to process our thoughts and impressions. IMO meditation is just the same as letting the mind get less cluttered through relaxing and being "bored".

Often people do it long enough, and maybe also organized enough, that the brain doesn't have as much to go through, leaving the person to have the "heightened perception" or whatever they might call it. But it's all just a synonym for active daydreaming in my book.

Edit: By active daydreaming, I mean sitting down to actively do it. If you sit in a lotus position, breathe controlled with weird music, that's up to you. And you can call it meditation if you want to, but the important ingredient is still daydreaming.

My Opinion: Batman Does NOT Create His Villains, Gotham Does

To clarify, I acknowledge that there are continuities where events that set up one or more characters' choice to become a criminal were directly tied to Batman's actions. What I disagree with is that Batman himself should bear responsibility as the source of Gotham's super-villain activity or part of the problem when, in truth, his very existence is merely symptomatic of a larger problem.

Fans who blame Batman personally, from what I've read, heard, and discussed with fellow fans, sometimes either miss or deliberately ignore the bigger picture in attempts to critique Bruce Wayne's character. Granted, I've been guilty of this myself at least once when discussing fictional characters and do my best to learn from my mistakes. Regardless, I find this argument intellectually dishonest.

1) While Gotham City hasn't always been portrayed as the gritty, Gothic, crime controlled cesspool of systemic corruption and dark alleys we picture today, these traits have become synonymous with the majority of fans' perceptions in recent decades. As is common knowledge among DC historians, this was partially inspired from the history of crime and corruption in Chicago as well as poverty in Detroit.

Despite its ever-changing depictions over the years, there's no denying the association of darkness with Gotham that added to its appeal, complemented Batman as a presence, and helped shape its pop-cultural identity. Point being, several versions of the city were already suffering from an epidemic of unmitigated crime years before Batman, and this would've gotten worse with or without him.

It was this systemic corruption, greed, and demonstrable incompetence that made Batman necessary in the first place. Bruce anointed himself to bear that burden (at expense to his own well being, relationships, and family fortune) because he recognized that he could never be effective enough to affect lasting positive change as a cop, benefactor, philanthropist, psychiatric activist, or prosecutor.

He spent years studying the history of Gotham, including past efforts by notable figures & residents to change it for the better, and his research showed a commonality in why they all failed: Because they put their ideals, resources, and trust into a fundamentally unjust justice system. Bruce didn't just choose the path of Batman out of personal trauma. He did it because it was the best option he saw.

All the evidence he saw supported his conclusion that Gotham was too far go

AirPods Pro - 2D27 Feedback and Thoughts

Apple pushes another update for the AirPods Pro, 2D27. Yay or Nay? Let's dive in.

Whats changed? (from a user perspective)

 • Certain users will rejoice the sound signature while others complain.
 • ANC has gotten even better.

Allow me to explain.

------ ANC --------

In a market where various choices exist, many chose the AirPods Pro for its acclaimed ANC; at least based on the early reviews. Though this quickly changed with a subsequent firmware to worse, it slowly got better with each update after that.

Remember the good old launch ANC? The firmware 2D27 inches very close to that and are a step in the right direction. I am happy to report that the ANC has improved in a very noticeable way. The algorithm seems to drown more of the low end rumbles and certain higher frequencies.

But part of me still wishes for that launch firmware magic again; and one would be able to relate to this sentiment if they are spoiled during their first week of ownership @ launch. Nevertheless, rest assured knowing that the 2D27 is no slouch.

ANC is no longer a weak point of the AirPods pro. I am fairly confident that at least 95% of the users will be completely satisfied with the current implementation.

------- Transparency Mode ------

Not much changes here. But to my critical ear, I believe it sounds less hissy than it used to be.

------- Sound Signature ------

AirPods Pro can now appease any bass-head that formerly overlooked this headset. But thats where the praise ends. Although being bass'y isn't always bad, the low end is muddy and sloppy at best. It does not feel as articulate or accurate as it was with the 2D15. Instead, it is a constant rumble that continues to pound with no finesse.

Sparkly highs are no more. With the pounding bass at the forefront, the treble is constantly being overshadowed. Though this may make certain genres such as Hip Hop and Rap sound fun to listen to, it completely ruins the rest of the musical spectrum.

Mid range/vocals are now recessed (for the first time ever). This is an unwelcome and most notable change of this update since the launch of AirPods Pro. You can now bid farewell to the Chestier, Clear, Focused mid-range that was synonymous to AirPods Pro. If you use your headset for Podcasts and Audiobooks, you will notice the change immediately.

Overall, the wider sound stage has disappeared. Welcome to the "narrow" and "compact". Music does not sound sparkling or airy anymore. Instead it feels hea

āvṛtam—covered; jñānam—pure consciousness; etena—by this; jñāninaḥ—of the knower; nitya-vairiṇā—eternal enemy; kāma-rūpeṇa—in the form of lust; kaunteya—O son of Kuntī; duṣpūreṇa—never to be satisfied; analena—by the fire; ca—also.

TRANSLATION

Thus, a man's pure consciousness is covered by his eternal enemy in the form of lust, which is never satisfied and which burns like fire.

PURPORT

It is said in the Manu-smṛti that lust cannot be satisfied by any amount of sense enjoyment, just as fire is never extinguished by a constant supply of fuel. In the material world, the center of all activities is sex, and thus this material world is called maithuṇya-āgāra, or the shackles of sex life. In the ordinary prison house, criminals are kept within bars; similarly, the criminals who are disobedient to the laws of the Lord are shackled by sex life. Advancement of material civilization on the basis of sense gratification means increasing the duration of the material existence of a living entity. Therefore, this lust is the symbol of ignorance by which the living entity is kept within the material world. While one enjoys sense gratification, it may be that there is some feeling of happiness, but actually that so-called feeling of happiness is the ultimate enemy of the sense enjoyer.

Question 1 : How those who are disobedient to the laws of the lord are punished ?

How to Improve your ENGLISH vocabulary

1. Read, read, and read. The more you read -- especially novels and literary works, but also magazines and newspapers -- the more words you'll be exposed to. As you read and uncover new words, use a combination of attempting to derive meaning from the context of the sentence as well as from looking up the definition in a dictionary.

2. Keep a dictionary and thesaurus handy. Use whatever versions you prefer -- in print, software, or online. When you uncover a new word, look it up in the dictionary to get both its pronunciation and its meaning(s). Next, go to the thesaurus and find similar words and phrases -- and their opposites (synonyms and antonyms, respectively) -- and learn the nuances among the words.

3. Use a journal. It's a good idea to keep a running list of the new words you discover so that you can refer back to the list and slowly build them into your everyday vocabulary. Plus, keeping a journal of all your new words can provide positive reinforcement for learning even more words -- especially when you can see how many new words you've already learned.

4. Learn a word a day. Using a word-a-day calendar or Website -- or developing your own list of words to learn -- is a great technique many people use to learn new words. This approach may be too rigid for some, so even if you do use this method, don't feel you must learn a new word every day. (Find some word-a-day Websites at the end of this article.)

5. Go back to your roots. One of the most powerful tools for learning new words -- and for deciphering the meaning of other new words -- is studying Latin and Greek roots. Latin and Greek elements (prefixes, roots, and suffixes) are a significant part of the English language and a great tool for learning new words. (Follow these links for the sections of this site that provide English Vocabulary Derived from Latin and English Vocabulary Derived from Greek.)

6. Play some games. Word games that challenge you and help you discover new meanings and new words are a great and fun tool in your quest for expanding your vocabulary. Examples include crossword puzzles, anagrams, word jumble, Scrabble, and Boggle. (Find some word-game Websites at the end of this article.)

7. Engage in conversations. Simply talking with other people can help you learn discover new words. As with reading, once you hear a new word, remember to jot it down so that you can study it later -- and then slowly add the new word to your vocabulary.

People need to start admitting that their idols make mistakes

This post might be kind of a mess but I'm going to try to keep this organised. My thoughts are a bit all over the place so please bear with me. This is something I've been thinking about with all the controversy going on recently, and people's...extremely differing posts when talking about cultural appropriation.

Also, the "you" in this is in a general sense, and a decent amount of this is in response to people defending idols' actions no matter what the idol does. I don't directly address idols too many times in this post, but the post is directed to the ARGUMENT people use to defend their idols.

First of all, cultural appropriation IS a form of racism. Yes, racism is rooted in hatred and predjudice, BUT committing a racist action (like cultural appropriation) or being complicit in racism (ESPECIALLY unknowingly) does not mean you are A BAD PERSON. Racist and morally bad person are NOT synonyms. Therefore, someone can morally be a decent person but be complicit in racism, or commit a racist action, or believe or perpetuate a racist stereotype. Being a good person, and by extension believing your favourite idols are good people, DOES NOT CHANGE the fact that they did something racist. And again, them doing those things does not automatically make them a bad person. So, STOP excusing idols' CA or other racist actions because "but they're good people!!". You can still support them and believe they're a good person while understanding what they did was wrong.

And here's the thing, racism is not exclusive to one race. It is not that one race is the "racist" race, and other race(s) is/are the race that everyone is racist against. Yes, systemic racism does not exist for some groups of people and is especially bad against others, and that needs to be talked about. But here's the thing -- we're not all involved in systemic racism but we have ALL been complicit in or believed a racist stereotype or supported/done racist actions without knowing/understanding. Maybe you saw a MV in k-pop of someone wearing a headdress or jewelry or braids that you looked at and thought "Oh, that's pretty!" and that's it, and then later you found out it was cultural appropriation and was a racist action. ITS OKAY TO ADMIT TO YOURSELF that you DIDNT know that it was CA while still acknowledging that people are ACTUALLY offended and hurt about it. It's okay to admit to yourself that you DON'T UNDERSTAND the extent to which they're hurt while giving THEM the room to voice their o

My partner and I have put nearly sixty hours into this game together, and it's helped us stay close!

So for some backstory, my partner and I have been long distance for a year now. We've been together for two years and a few months. We've grown a lot as people and as a couple in our time together, and I truly think I'm going to spend the rest of my life with them! But a year ago... It didn't look like it. We were both panicking about our relationship, whether we could even stay together, if it would be worth it not being able to hug and kiss except for occasional vacations, all that stuff. It was pretty scary stuff.

Adjusting to the long distance thing was tough when I first moved. We didn't get to call much because I was getting everything set up in my new home. And getting used to my new life in a new place was tough as heck too. I used to move a lot, but it was all around the same area. With this one I moved nearly a thousand miles away! So it was a big difference. And for the first half of a year my partner and I didn't know what to do to spend time together. We would call, and talk for a while. Or we'd call and watch some videos or livestreams together. But we wanted something more active, more engaging, more fun.

So for Christmas, we sent each other a nice package of gifts! Some stuffed animals, I gave them a jacket, we got cute accessories, a lot of nice stuff. And they sent me a Steam card. They and I had talked about getting Spire for a few weeks at that point, but I just didn't ever buy the game. They told me we were buying it with that cash though, and I could get myself a smaller game with the leftover money. I don't remember what other game I got, but I know I certainly bought Spire. And that was a fantastic decision.

So, 59 hours deep into the game, and I can tell you a good bit about our time playing it. We did an Ironclad run and had no clue what we were doing, we failed, we did a Silent run, had no clue what we were doing, and failed. And despite that, we had so much fun with it! We kept playing it over and over, trying all sorts of new builds for Ironclad and Silent (okay so we just played Defect for the second and third times today and we played Watcher once), because their favorite is Ironclad and mine is Silent. They like getting the big damage in, and I love watching the poison stack and stack.

Now here's the big one. The Iron CHAD run. We did an endless run with flight and a couple other things, but some difficulty balancers so it wasn't too easy.

We played for six hours straight, watching Chad grow into a killing machin

Beirut Explosion — TW: tragedy

Very unfortunately, incredibly so obviously, the catastrophe in Beirut, Lebanon is a perfect example of astrology in motion. Let's glance at the obvious positions/relationships that were in the sky at the time of the explosion in the most basic and cursory way in order to relate them to what happened.

This chart is drawn with the equal house system in order to accurately represent the ambient sky at that moment and therefore visually emphasize the significance/function of the angles as they represent the literal emergence of celestial or "personal" space (what has been set up or what is disposed) into view/action. Wiki and [this site](http://www.xinhuanet.com/english/2020-08/05/c_139267430.htm](http://www.xinhuanet.com/english/2020-08/05/c_139267430.htm) give the time.

Jupiter was on the exact degree of the ascendant. Saturn was following closely behind. Both retrograde.

Mars, who was only just separating from a square to Jupiter, was square to the exact degree of the ascendant.

Right there in that basic setup seems to be a plethora of significance: in that chart Saturn is in domicile/rulership over Capricorn, so both the planet and the sign known to constrict and essentially pressurize the most are combined and powerful/capable. Jupiter, in fall there so in disagreement/having difficulty with that theme, is the planet which relates to expansion and to breaking out of confinement (or settling into and rationalizing as Pisces of couerse), and is known to be volatile and even intensely excessive. Jupiter is the most immediate trigger in the chart by being the planet who is rising.

So far, we can describe this scenario as actions by saying Capricorn itself is preparing to convey a very present Saturn into view immediately following behind while directing/pushing a challenged Jupiter who is likely thrashing around uncomfortably due to being driven by those particular circumstances. At that exact moment a very palpable and strong/hot Mars slipped through a square to this Jupiter which means it immediately thereafter headed into a square with this Saturn. Both Mars and Saturn could be seen as very confident at their exact positions in this square configuration; perhaps even to everyone else's detriment, so to speak. :-( But, we do see that the planet who is most synonymous with the words trigger, strong, hot and active challenged or tensed Jupiter's rising while leading Saturn into view at that plac

JP/EN translation comparison of the prologue: "demons" and "wicked gods", Jeralt and divine pulse, and Dimitri's politeness

In this post I will talk about differences between the JP and EN prologue through comparisons with my own literal translation of the Japanese. There are three main points:

 1. The “demon” choice when asked by Sothis to identify yourself is not the same “demon” as in “Ashen Demon”.

 2. Jeralt most likely sensed something when Byleth used divine pulse.

 3. Dimitri speaks to Byleth, Edelgard, and Claude much more politely in the EN.

Unlike my previous posts on Dimitri and Edelgard’s conversation in Ch. 21 of AM or the post-timeskip reunion in SS/AM/VW, there are not a lot of differences between the two versions, so the only part which I will translate in full is the conversation between the three house leaders.

Dreams of a Throne

The only difference in this scene is the second choice when Sothis asks you who you are.

>JP choices: Ghost (yūrei 幽霊), Wicked God (jashin 邪神), Human/Mortal (ningen 人間)

>EN choices: Ghost, Demon, Mortal

A minor difference, but not necessarily insignificant, for I have seen multiple people bring up these choices when discussing Byleth’s growth as a person, where they interpret the second choice “Demon” as referring to Byleth’s nickname “Ashen Demon”. In the JP, these are separate terms. The “demon” in “Ashen Demon” is akuma (悪魔), which only appears twice in the game outside of this nickname:

 1. In Sylvain’s C support with Flayn, where he jokingly responds to her asking if it’s true that any woman who approaches him becomes unhappy, “Am I a demon or death god (shinigami 死神, also used in the name of the Death Knight) or something?”

 2. Hilda describing Dimitri’s death after Gronders in Verdant Wind: “He was totally different from his old self. He fought with the look of a demon on his face…”

As for “wicked god”, or jashin, it appears in three different contexts throughout the game other than Sothis’ question:

 1. Most significantly, as the (fake) reason why Nemesis gained power. The goddess granted Nemesis the Sword of the Creator in order to defeat some wicked gods.

 2. In Chapter 9, the mysterious woman at the pagan altar of Abyss tells you she has been ordered to leave because she has been suspected of worshipping wicked gods.

 3. A synonym for a “scary appearance”. In Ing

I’m probably just unable to relate (like, at all) but I get awfully cringed out when parents refer to their children as “my little”...your little you? Your little child? Your little...what, just your little?

I typed little in my title enough for the word “little” to now appear foreign.

So I’m shuffling along some comments sections and often see parents type things like, “ugh, I know! My little always gets in my way in the kitchen!” Or “the little eats all the groceries in my house” and even “my little is officially sexually active!!!! 😭” regarding a 19 year old adult...irl, a close friend of mine is pregnant again and I’m happy that she’s happy but when she speaks about her “newest little” I really don’t know man it’s just cringeworthy.

To me, it sounds like this narcissistic term of MY little ME, or my mini-me. Or, sometimes it seems like this demeaning term of, would it be endearment? as in the little thing, little person, or little human that’s not smart enough to be bothered by being called the synonym of small all the time.

And yes, I do understand that when parents say this, to them they mean it lovingly or whatever I’m just ranting about how it sounds and looks to me. That’s all.

ESG Investing Isn't Just a Trend

The ESG/SPAC movement continues - Lordstown announcing an agreement with Diamondpeak, Proterra/??? LOI with Hennessy, a SPAC IPO ETF, SBE bringing in a battery expert/website change and three ESG SPACs filling their S1s all within the last two weeks. What a time for ESG/SPACs…

“ESG Investing isn’t just a trend--it’s a megatrend. And it isn’t just a megatrend, even. It hit that status in 2018 at the $30-billion mark (now in the trillions) … Big money is no longer willing to risk it all on high-growth prospects with no ESG angle. That’s because ESG investing has become synonymous with risk mitigation, whether it’s related to climate change, human rights or simply good governance (including corporate policy).”

Corporate policies, academic papers, Wall Street research, hedge funds, retail investors and the market have for years all delivered the same evidence - companies that adopt ESG policies deliver superior financial results and outperform traditional investments (extraordinarily well during economic downturnssuch as Covid).

I didn’t bother diving into DPHC or HCAC here (as most of you are caught up) or ESG investing but rather the point is to showcase how ESG is affecting the SPAC market. Just look at the examples of SHLL, NKLA, SPCE, SPAQ, FMCI, FVAC, NFIN, BMRG, HCCH, GRAF/PureCycle, Cannabis SPACs, IPOC/B and SOAC.

Paul and Morgan's reasoning is so bad it's indestructible: a rant... or maybe an essay.

We just found out today that Paul and Morgan Olliges - you know, the Paul and Morgan Olliges, who will be celebrating their 4th wedding anniversary this week and who have received a variety of different criticisms for giving dangerous advice and promoting unhealthy relationship standards, yet somehow feel qualified to give relationship advice - will now be offering marriage counselling. This announcement, while somewhat funny, did get me thinking more seriously about just how dangerous Paul and Morgan's social media presence is.

All of the fundies we talk about here have poor reasoning skills and lack logic, but I personally think Paul and Morgan are some of the worst in this respect, because they're the most vocal about their "spicy" religious and political beliefs (always accompanied by a video thumbnail with a shocking title and gaping mouths, adorned with fire emojis) and the most unwilling to even attempt to listen to reason. Plus they have the "I heard from God" trump card, so there's not a single argument, in their eyes, one could make that could penetrate their reasoning pattern, even if, to a regular, somewhat educated person, the holes are clear. Their entire ideology is based on a series of logical fallacies.

If, for example, one were to tell them, "you two should not offer marriage counselling, because you have been married too short a time," they could turn around and say, "we heard from God and he called us to offer Christ-like wisdom to the masses, and that God-given green light gives us the authority to provide marriage counselling, regardless of how long we've been married." But then if you were to ask how they know the Bible is true, they might respond, "because God said so" or "it's in the Bible." If one were to note the aspects of their relationship which could be construed as abusive, and cite those as a reason why they are not qualified to give advice, they could simply deny that their relationship is abusive or unhealthy at all, and furthermore, could even say that their approach to their relationship is "biblical", therefore inherently healthy.

Then one could try to say, "you have no educational credentials to be providing legitimate, research-backed marriage advice," to which they could respond, "God is not a degree-granting entity; rather, He has given us the authority to speak to these issues, therefore, we are entitled to do so," to which one could argue, "regardless of any religious affiliation, there is ample research f

[The Scuu Paradox] - Chapter 23

At the Beginning

Previously on The Scuu Paradox…

The Scuu network… the key advantage that humanity couldn’t overcome. Even on the Cassandrian front, I had heard hundreds of theories about it, each completely different than the last. According to the official records, the network had never actually been discovered. The phrase had slowly crept into reports and discussions approximately twenty-seven years after the war began, and had grown in popularity ever since. Close to a hundred years later, a definition came into being: “A theoretical instant-speed communication network that ensures immediate data transfer between every Scuu ship and/or entity.” Up to the day I retired, there were a hundred and seventeen theoretical models of the network, each aimed at finding a weakness to exploit.

No one had seen the network; it was claimed that no one could. Looking at the strands around me, I had my doubts. There was no guarantee that what I was witnessing represented the Scuu network, but as Augustus would say, “it was damned close.”

“You can see it, can’t you?” Rigel asked. Fractal space made him look older than he really was. Twenty-five hair-width strands came out of his right temple, continuing halfway towards the nearest vortex.

 “Yes.”

 “Describe it.”

I ran a simulation of his field of vision. With this much activity, it was nearly impossible to determine what Rigel could be focusing on; however, the persistent lack of eye movement suggested he was staring blankly at a single spot.

“Connections,” I said. “Lots of connections.”

The silence told me that he knew what I was talking about, just couldn’t see it. Maybe that was what drove him insane—being able to sense the network, but never see it? Every ship had gone through this so many times it had become synonymous with existence. Seeing a human affected, though, made me feel uneasy.

More red lines flashed through the space, bursting from the same points as tight clusters of strands. Likely the ships were sending coordinating attack plans, transmitting them to their shuttle crews. When the ground offensive started—which seemed inevitable—thousands of lines would dash to and from every soldier on the field.

 “What now?” I asked.

Growing your audience: Answering those FAQs from within the industry.

Two very FAQs within podcasting seem to be A: how to grow an audience and B: how to monetise said audience, with a lot of little ones in between. I'll answer the first and if you guys like it I'll answer the second.

I'm going to try and answer the first from the perspective of someone who's dedicated a lot of time doing just that. If you're looking just to scale, skip to the end.

How do I grow my audience?

Have you asked yourself if there is one?

It's a pretty simple question and as someone who listens to very obscure podcasts, I know for a fact I may be one of only 3,000 people who'll listen every week. They couldn't grow if they wanted to unless more people found the hobby.

Your love of a subject, your interview style, your own expertise etc may be tremendous; to the point you're actually an expert. However, egos being what they are, they may get in the way of cold hard facts; a major one being that your expected channel's ceiling may not match your ambitions. (This shouldn't mean not doing it if it's just for fun.)

Simple maths should help.

'I want to do a podcast about fishing in the USA'

Let's say 150 million people listen to podcasts in the USA (could be worldwide or about fishing anywhere, I'm being pedantic so I can get the 150m number). 46 million of them are fishermen. Be honest with yourself, what % of people who fish, listen to fishing podcasts? And also is their hobby conducive to listening to podcasts? (People often forget that hobbies and listening to podcasts can co-exist)

Gut feeling is that this is actually a great fit and with no insight into the industry at all, a quick google tells me there's a lot but not too many podcasts in this space, go do it.

'I want to do a podcast on glassblowing'

I could find a couple of podcasts on this, with broader discussions around the subject. I have no idea how many people blow glass in the world, or how many people would go out of their way to listen to a podcast about blowing glass. The Instagram page that appears at the top of my google search has 11k followers.

Gut feeling is, there's a few thousand people out there who would love this podcast, finding them probably would be quite difficult but competition is low, but there's a low growth ceiling.

If your ambition is to generate serious revenue from this project, I would really consider a slightly less niche podcast. However, the likelihood of you generating SOME revenue in this space is far more likely than if you were br

Four Ways to use WarcraftLogs to Troubleshoot your Raid

I'd like to preface this by saying I am in no way affiliated with WarcraftLogs and this post isn't sponsored or shadow written by anyone. But I get a lot of questions on discord about how to analyze logs, so I figured this might help someone. :-)

Hi guys! Recently (by which I mean "literally since the start of classic") WarcraftLogs has been getting kind of a bad rap on reddit. To a lot of people, WCL is synonymous with "parsing culture" and the mentality that follows it, wherewithin one's entire raid is made or broken by how many orange or pink numbers show up next to one's name after the raid.

However, while parsing culture certainly is fairly bullshit and most definitely has caused a lot of headaches for raidleaders trying to get their DPS to use their brain rather than just tunnelvisioning on the BIG NUMBAH, it's wholly unfair to characterize all of WCL and its userbase as nothing but an outlet for parse junkies. WCL is an extremely powerful set of tools, and if you dare to look under the hood, you can find a multitude of ways to spot and fix problems in your raid's performance that you might not otherwise have noticed.

Today we're going to look at 4 of them. Not an exhaustive list by any means, but a good place to start for the aspiring log analyst nonetheless.

As our example log, I have chosen this log from Iron Edge-Golemagg EU. It is the top Execution ranked log in EU, and I had to pick based on something, so they "won".

 1. Using the debuff menu

Debuffs are an integral part of classic wow raiding. Due to the 16 debuff cap on enemy targets, players are often nervous about accidentally overwriting a useful buff with a useless one, and many guilds meticulously plan out their debuff lists in order to make sure that only the correct debuffs are on the bosses.

However, this is only half the story. Are those debuffs actually the ones you're getting? And what about uptime. You may have dedicated a debuff slot to Demoralizing Shout, but is it actually on the boss for the entire fight? And who is casting it?

The easiest way to analyze raid debuffs is to switch the view to "Enemies" for each boss fight. Like so. This will give you a breakdown of which debuffs were active on the boss for a given fight, and for how much of the fight they were active. Clicking

I played Dark Souls

I actually played a couple other games from my youth, but I got to play Dark Souls with a friend of mine, and this is what I felt like writing about.

Dark Souls. The game that for many is synonymous with brutal. While it is notoriously difficult, it's also extremely lenient. You die a lot, but there's very little by way of actual punishment for dying. You lose you in game currency (souls), and can retrieve it if you're luck enough or lose it. But if you find the right places, it's no problem to regain the lost souls.

Before I get more into the game, let me take a minute to set it up. Once you make your character and choose your starting class and gift, you find yourself locked in a cell. Why you're there, it doesn't really say, but you're there and somebody drops a body from the roof into the cell with you. This body has a key and now you're roaming the halls of this prison filled with the undead.

Beyond some rusty and broken bars is a demon walking around, presumably your jailer. From here you start exploring the tutorial level and learning how to play.

After you get the basics you walk into what looks the be a massive foyer, the doors close and another demon drops from the roof. Your first boss. From here you have three choices: Fight, Flee, Die. (Okay, maybe die isn't so much a choice as it is just something that's likely to happen.) My first time playing the game, I ran. This time, I fought (not NG+). Remembering this boss I was ready and took my time ending the battle.

This game's not so much hard as it is a learning process. Once you know what works, you can usually implement it adnauseam successfully. My first time through the game I found myself studying the enemies long before I encountered them. And would use as many of my souls before blindly throwing myself into the fray to die over and over again while I learned what worked and what didn't.

Got distracted again. Okay, once you leave the tutorial level and are dumped into the game proper you make your way to Firelink Shrine, ultimately the hub for the rest of the game. It's actually really cool how they made everything connect in the game.

Multiplayer is not really straight forward in the game, you have to find Sunbro before you can summon your friend into your world, or go to theirs. And it's only cooperation until they beat the area boss. And while you're capable of summoning and being summoned you can get invaded (PVP) and have to fight a different player.

On that note, I have no ide

Allfather / Swedish Support

(Intended for Forge but I apparently can't read and don't know what qualifies as blue collar but you get it anyway) Mixed up Sweden and Switzerland multiple times. Oops I dont really feel like changing it now so the lore can just be overlooked

I cannot test this, so be gentle. Numbers are hard.

'Allfather'

Real name: Klemins Bonde

Role: Support

Nationality: Swedish

Occupation: Wildlife Park Ranger

Affliliation: Swedish Department of Natural Resources

"We've got someone looking out for us."

Lore

Klemins Bonde hails from Zurichburg, Sweden. The Overwatch Swiss HQ looms over his family home nearby in Zurich (as far as we know). Growing up in the picturesque hills of Sweden, Klemins grew a deep love for nature. He explored the hills and fields, and played in the river. HIs paradise homeland were devestated in the aftermath of the destruction of the Swiss Overwatch base. He watched as the hills were coated grey with rubble and ash. The rubble blocked the flow of water and the rivers flooded. A great resentment grew within him for Overwatch and these other private agencies that were popping up. Overwatch, Talon, Helix; they were all the same to him. He dove into robotics and programming, escaping from the disaster that had befallen his home. Now know as Dr. Bonde, Klemins became a powerhouse in his field and well respected amongst scientists. That is until one fateful day, he was walking home from work and as he passed a field that had once been ruined by the incident. But that day, instead of looking away from what had happened, he looked at the field and saw some children cleaning the field. They were picking up rubble and trash, not for themselves but for others, their community. This inspired Klemins to do the right thing, applying his skills to help the enviornment. He uses his tech to key tabs on endangered species, detain poachers and criminals, as well as keeping out of control animal populations in check.

Intended Playstyle

Allfather is a backline support desgined to be proficient in baiting and forcing out important cooldowns. With the powerful ability to mimic abilities to provoke reactionary cooldowns, he can open possibilities for his team to move in. Though with great power comes great vulnerability. The World Snake (E) is intended to be easy to out play to make up for the power of Odin's Ravens (L.Shift). With the amount of time that will be spent on cams, I've given him abilities that are quick and higher impact but leave

"Don't tell me my dog is fat!"

It was many years ago now that I was a locum veterinarian in a small suburban veterinary clinic.

For the most part the clients were a pleasure to work with, were receptive to the advice and instructions given to them by the staff in regards to their pets, and it generally made my time working there a placid experience. Every rare once in a while though a client's account would be flagged as "non-compliant". This usually meant a client who didn't follow medication instructions, post-operative procedures, scheduled rechecks, general health advice, and so-forth, usually resulting in cases not progressing as well as they should have. Of course, some of these clients would also complain about said poor outcome, and the fault was, of course, never theirs.

Enter one particular Ms. Noncom.

Since I was only a part-time locum, working every other weekend at the time at this particular clinic, I seldom saw a client more than once unless they specifically requested to see me again. As such, I had never met Ms. Noncom before, but plastered at the top of her file was the dreaded "non-compliant". Ms. Noncom owned a Jack Russell terrier that had an extensive history with the clinic, and as I browsed the history of the patient prior to the consultation to familiarize myself with them, it was painfully obvious that Jack was far too fat to be healthy. In fact, there was enough of Jack to make another Jack, with some Jack to spare.

Jack was due his annual vaccination and check-up, and so I asked them to enter the consultation room. Which they did at a leisurely pace due to the fact that Jack was barely able to keep up with Ms. Noncom, who was herself not particularly fast due to her own bodily dimensions. It was somewhat apparent why Jack was struggling with weight issues when his own owner was apparently having the same difficulties.

Typically in a situation like this I would be as careful as could be not to offend the owner or make any assumptions about their current bodily state, as it's common for large owners to likewise have large pets, and suggestions have to be made appropriately without blatantly putting too much blame on the owner. However, my desire to be tactful went straight out the window when Ms. Noncom, with a sour expression on her face (which also appeared to have the remnants of a candy bar smeared on one cheek), heaved her panting Jack onto the table and greeted me with an irritable, "Jack needs his needles, and *don't tell me my dog

AlterOne - Chapter One (Tell me what you think)

AlterOne - Chapter 1: The Proposition

Facedown on the cold stone floor, the blood seeped through his fingers as he held his stomach in an effort to slow the bleeding. Eyes shut and teeth clenched, it was all he could do to keep from crying out in pain. He had been cursed. Dark energy tainted his body. He could feel as it flowed through his veins, sapping him of the last vestiges of his essence.

"He's exhausted."

That voice, Akko thought. The speaker was close, standing over Akko's fallen body. The voice sounded uninterested and flat, but familiar all the same. But it can't be, he said to himself, I'm disoriented-it can't be.

"Will you kill him now?" A female this time, just as close.

"No...not yet."

A hand grasped the back of Akko's head and pulled his face from the floor.

"Come on now Akko, open those eyes."

His head was spinning. His body was aching. He didn't know how long he would retain consciousness. But he opened his eyes.

"It's been a while Akko."

He wished he hadn't.

If your site runs on WordPress, all you have to do is install YoastSEO or Rankmath SEO, and they’ll create a sitemap for you. Otherwise, you can use an online XML Sitemap generation tool.

I’ve made a comprehensive and exhaustive list of the most common misconceptions about sexual consent. Use this as a resource to destroy incel’s arguments!
