Why YSK: Plaid, which Venmo uses, stores your bank account password and uses it to record all your activity.
Plaid was recently sued by a bank: https://www.ctvnews.ca/business/td-bank-files-lawsuit-against-plaid-accusing-it-of-trying-to-dupe-consumers-1.5145326
> "In reality, however, consumers are unwittingly giving their login credentials to the defendant, who takes the information, stores it on its servers, and uses it to mine consumers' bank records for valuable data (e.g., transaction histories, loans, etc.), which the defendant monetizes by selling to third parties," TD claimed in the court records.
Other apps that use Plaid: Robinhood, Coinbase, Betterment, and Acorns.
For those that don't know, at the end of the Deep Stone Crypt raid the final chest acts as a vendor of sorts. Within the vendor menu you have 4 chests at the top that can randomly drop any piece of loot from any of the encounters in the raid. For example, let's say you can't get the helmet to drop from the encounter that drops the helmet, if you select the "helmet chest" at the vendor then you have a chance at the helmet to drop again.
The thing I really like about this concept though is that after you have acquired all of the gear from the raid the previously mentioned chests become disabled and you can pick any piece of gear in the raid for a random roll.
I think this concept should be added to every activity in the game, including "high skill" and pvp activities.
Even gatcha games have bad luck protection and this concept would be one of the better ways for it to work in destiny.
TL;DR: Bungie, you did a great thing with the final chest in the DSC raid, please carry that vendor function over to ALL activities.
It seems a LOT of people are getting a message that their benefits have been temporarily suspended because it "***may be tied to fraudulent activity.***"
I just saw this half an hour ago, about 30 minutes before 2021 kicked in.
I HAVE NOT COMMITTED FRAUD! My rent is due tomorrow, along with other bills! The state has SHUT DOWN businesses that employed me! I cannot find work! This is NOT MY FAULT!!!
Given that so many people are getting the same message, it may be an error on the part of EDD.
IDGAF, and some of the top people at EDD need to be fired.
"You have been receiving unemployment benefits, but we have temporarily suspended your claim because it may be tied to fraudulent activity.
You will receive further instruction from EDD on how to verify your identity beginning January 6, 2021."
Who else has received this stupid message from CA EDD to welcome the new year?
I first heard this from a substitute teacher in HS who described wrestling as "challenging" when a student asked him if it was "hard." Not sure why but it completely shifted my view of it, and I've been using it ever since. I've seen it noticeably change people's attitudes to real problems (job loss, relationships, illness, etc), and now that I have kids I see it's especially effective for them.
Thereβs been a fair amount of discussion about Kendallβs recent actions on social media in the daily threads this week, so I decided it was time to make a standalone post.
Kendall has been traveling (sponsored trip) in Mexico since 12/31 and recently returned to NYC (unclear when exactly). She posted very frequently about her travel and was defensive whenever anyone mentioned in the comments that travel (especially international) doesnβt seem safe/smart during a pandemic & sets a bad example to her large audience. She also uses facetune very obviously to edit her photos.
Recently sheβs been deleting comments that arenβt fully supportive of her actions and it feels like sheβs creating an echo chamber. Then on Wednesday, during the insurrection at the US Capitol, she posted an extremely tone-deaf (imo) post saying that everyone should focus on love & positivity. Her stance in the comments was that sheβs a fitness instructor and doesnβt need to address politics (or something along those lines, I didnβt screenshot it so anyone with a better memory please correct me). That post was eventually deleted.
As far as my interactions with Kendall, I commented on her now-deleted post on Wednesday saying it was tone deaf. Today I βlikedβ another Redditorβs comment asking if sheβs following CDC guidance following her recent travel (on a post where sheβs picking her dog up from boarding). Shortly after I liked that comment, Kendall blocked me on IG. Iβve sent a screenshot of that and asked the OnePeloton account for a response via IG DM.
Personally, I canβt ever see taking one of Kendallβs classes again. Iβve removed her from my bookmarks. That made me feel pretty sad because she has some classes that have been raved about on here that I hadnβt managed to take yet (Mental Health day, Billie Eilishβ¦), but it doesnβt feel right to support her in any way at this point. Itβs ultimately her hypocrisy that I canβt stand.
I understand some people donβt care what instructors do outside of class, but to me given how much Peloton pushes the βcommunityβ aspect of its platform it does seem relevant. Kendall says a lot of things in her classes that seem hypocritical when put next to her (very facetuned) IG presence. I donβt think her recent actions align with the brand Peloton is pushing, but Iβd love to hear everyoneβs perspective on that here.
ETA: thanks everyone! I wonβt be r
... keep reading on reddit β‘I canβt exactly put my finger on why I feel this way. It feels like every season is more about maximizing playtime and longevity rather than a team of developers coming up with something fun or interesting.
This feels mostly prevalent in activities since exotics seem a lot more interesting. Whenever I go back to Destiny 1, while I donβt play it for long, something thatβs intangible feels incredibly different. Thereβs gotta be some secret sauce that D1 has that D2 doesnβt, because from a surface level perspective D2 seems better, but in practice it isnβt??
Maybe someone else can shed some light on this feeling.
Edit: Taking a break isnβt the issue. Please stop saying it.
A number of churches around the country openly called for the presidential election to be overthrown prior to the US Senate officially certifying the results. It seems that in years past, it was commonly accepted that campaigns ended when the polls closed. However, this year a sizable portion of the population aggressively asserted that the election would not be over until it was certified, even going as far as to violently interfere with the process.
Given this recent shift in the culture of politics, should calls to over-turn the election made by 501(c)(3) organizations prior to January 6th be considered "campaign activity" - effectively disqualifying them from tax-exempt status? Alternatively, if these organizations truly believed that wide-spread voter fraud took place, I suppose it could be argued that they were simply standing up for the integrity of our elections.
I know that even if a decent case could be made if favor of revoking the tax-exempt status of any 501(c)(3) organization that openly supported overthrowing the presidential election results, it is very unlikely that it any action would ever come of it. Nonetheless, I am interested in opinions.
(As an example, here are some excerpts from a very politically charged church service given in St. Louis, MO on January 3rd, during which, among other things, they encouraged their congregation to call Senator Josh Hawley in support of opposing the certification. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N18oxmZZMlM).
I don't carry a gun, don't do drugs, and don't break the law. I still do a massive double take when a cop car pulls behind me. Yes I realize they're human and most of them aren't sociopaths. But people with a badge can totally fuck your life (sometimes without meaning to) and rarely face repercussions. Telling people that if they're not doing anything illegal they have nothing to be afraid of is stupid. You should always be on high alert when you're dealing with someone with a weapon who could easily shoot you on a suspicion and would almost certainly not be prosecuted for it.
EDIT: ok so a lot of people are saying this is popular? If this were so popular why would there be protests across the us? Reddit is a lot more diverse than some of you seem to think, and plenty of people have commented saying this is bullshit. So no, I donβt think this is popular. Maybe in your circles, but itβs very controversial in general.
This is long, if youβre uninterested skip to the ten tips list or TLDR
A while ago I started mixing unusual options activity into my gamblinginvesting. At first I lost a shitload of money chasing dumbass whales with zero plan, but now I actually have a pretty good feel for it. I still fuck up alot, but more often I do not fuck up. This is to help those of you who want to start chasing whales, or are at a basic level and want to do it better.
I'm using some plays from this week as examples because they are fresh in my mind and I have a couple screenshots.
Tools I use barchart in tandem with Unusual Whales. For barchart, you can honestly get by using their free version, you just can't sort as well. They have a free month trial too. I also pay the 20 bucks for Unusual Whales to confirm what I scan, and they have a good stocks volume standard deviation tool. I have zero affiliation to either, just saying what I use.
There are way more technical ways to do this, but I like to use my eyes to scan sporadically throughout the day like a boomer.
Basic Concept Long story short, you're ideally chasing the options purchases of what are, presumably, deep-pocketed individuals or institutions. UOA identifies certain options contract orders that are higher than the average daily contract order. For example, if the average daily option volume on an GME weekly is 4,000, and an option order enters for 4,000 or higher, it's flagged as unusual activity since it's a multiple of that daily average volume--sometimes it shows as multiple orders if "they" push through a few smaller purchases that produce heavy volume.
MM are sneks who like to move in silence, which they can do with with stock positions via dark pools and the like. However, they can't get away with that with options activity--it all shows. That fact, young autist, is your slingshot against the institutional goliath.
Hunting the Whale So I've got my unusual options activity page open on barchart or wherever for the current day. I adjust the expiration date option so that the options I'm looking at don't expire past a couple weeks out (more on why later), then I'm ready to eye scan.
I typically start by looking for one of two things: 1) large clusters of orders that belong to one ticker or 2) sporadic orders for a ticker that consistently show up over a couple hours, but belong to non-hot, non-meme stonks that do NOT have earnings imminent. To make sure I'm looking at something
... keep reading on reddit β‘Gatekeeping should be fully embraced as a fun game to play with any activity or hobby. If someone wants to gatekeep an "outsider" only for the sake of making it a sport of them needing to prove themselves, that should be totally fine.
For instance, if I watch one starwars movie and I become a fanboy, other starwars fans should make a pointless ritual of "You must prove yourself and study all the movies." It's a fun way to make people prove how dedicated they are to something.
I'm not even upset if outsiders water down a specific activity/hobby. Gatekeeping is purely a way to make a game out of making someone challenge how hard they are about the hobby.
There's nothing wrong if you just make fun of yourself or your friends in the friendly way but laughing at random people for being virgin seems to be absolutely cringe and scummy.
I just think it's pathetic because what virginity basically is? It's just something imaginary it doesn't really make you a loser or a bad person or anything. Also there are people who are just not ok with having sex yet even if it's a male. Always seeing those "tough" boys (Often my friends unfortunately) at the school mocking kids who are not as social as me, them or you is really disgusting.
For a season that's putting a heavy emphasis on core activities it's a real shame that Bungie not only haven't touched them almost at all except for Gambit (While keeping the bounties literally the same) but also nerfed the weekly Dust bounties too.
What is my incentive to run the 3 years old strikes then? Why should I engage in the stasis-dominant PvP, or waste my time in Gambit that I never really enjoyed? Seasonal activity that has a loot pool I'm very not-interested in? (Guys, look, a LINEAR Fusion rifle! I'm sure everyone's stoked about it...) At least in the past year I had the incentive to do my weeklies if I saw something cool in the BD store, but now I can't even do that because I'm only earning a HALF of what I did before. An exotic ghost shell? Should've been grinding your BD for 2 weeks prior bucko! Exotic emote? 3 weeks!
Not to mention that without third party websites, we don't even know whether there will be something interesting for us in the store; It wasn't an issue before, since if there was, we could just do all weeklies for 3600 Dust total and get the unexpected cool item.
I get that the BD store is just a cherry on top, a way of earning paid cosmetics for free, but there was a good system in place already, then it was changed to be worse, but still okay, and now it's just horrible. Why? Couldn't we just have the increased Season pass Dust AS WELL AS 200 Bright Dust per weekly? I also understand that it's prioritising newer players who only use a single-character, they get more Dust overall now, but why the hell are you gutting more dedicated players?
Halving the rewards I was earning for over a year now for no good reason rrreeeallly doesn't make me want to run the core activities you've said you'll be putting more emphasis on, Bungie.
.
Edit:
"If you're playing core activities for Bright Dust only, maybe you shouldn't play them / Core activities shouldn't be played only for Dust". I agree, but also disagree. What else is there to get from them for me if I have all the rolls for the 3 new legendaries that I want. What do I do with my pinnacles if I'm already 1260? What do I do with the armour if I already have a decently rolled arrivals / hunt armour?
Bright Dust allows for the core activities to be somewhat relevant throughout the entire season, but now due to the nerf it doesn't feel like it. Instead it feels like you're supposed to max out the pass and forget about it.
This has to be one of the lightest seasons ever, content wise. Overshadowed by BL expansion, can you imagine if this season dropped without an expansion to accompany it? The High Celebrant hunt is hopefully longer than the 5 minute hunts we have now...
