For some reason, starting with One UI 3.0, the option to send files directly to other Galaxy devices through Wi-Fi Direct was removed from the Share menu, and this has started to be a real bother lately.
Ever since One UI 3.0 came along to my S20+, there have been several cases where I wanted to send a big file (like a video for example) or several files at once to another Galaxy, but couldn't. Using Bluetooth is far from an ideal replacement, since it's incredibly slow by comparison. And Quick Share almost gets the job done, but then you have lower end Galaxy phones which lack such feature, rendering it useless in these specific cases.
So I was curious to know if there would be any app or ways to use Wi-Fi Direct to send files like before, or even any way to "force enable" it back in the Share menu again. Any ideas?
I dont use Microsoft Direct Adapter, as far as I know and I dont even know what that thing is used for. But I was checking my Antivirus log and It said there was a connection to an unknown IP using the Microsoft Direct Adapter. I googled the IP address and nothing came up ( like in those IP tracers sites) Is this something I should worry about?
With the usb cable it does no drop...but im afraid having my phone in a charging position all day will ruin it or something. So im using wifi direct but internet keeps dropping every few minutes.
I want to connect my TV to my PC via Wi-fi direct because my router is too far away and streaming 4k HDR movies just buffers every few seconds. Is there a way to do this?
I have the x90ch and I'm having trouble with screen mirroring using the WiFi direct option on my TV. Whenever I try to use it, I get a message saying "internet connection is not currently available. After exiting [Wi-Fi Direct settings], the TV will automatically reconnect to the Wi-Fi network". Then when I go to connect my laptop to the TV it never is able to connect.
I would really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!
Are there any libraries available for using Wi-fi Direct that don't rely on UWP?
Hi! I have a Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5g, the Snapdragon variant, and after the update I can't send files via WiFi direct. I can receive them just fine, it's just that when I tap the share button I don't have the WiFi direct option anymore. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Does Wi-Fi Direct pose any privacy risks? I.e. when I use it at home vs at public wifi, like school, airport, Cafe etc?
Edit: I'm only using Wi-Fi Direct at home, like as a remote controller for my Xbox when watching YouTube. I'm not using it in public, but I don't turn it off either when leaving home.
I am trying to connect a DS to a RC, but the DS think the Wi-Fi Direct isn't on. I checked the settings, turned off other networks, enabled GPS, turned on airplane mode and even made sure that Wi-Fi Direct was working properly and could find the RC phone. The phones tested were a Redmi Note 7 and a Redmi Note 8 Pro. The RC phone was a Redmi Note 4.
I recently started looking for this type of cameras on the Amazon, Home Depot, and Lowe's websites, and I was surprised to find they were nearly no options. Should I be looking elsewhere?
I saw that Ring makes one but I have issues with Amazon.
I would love it if Wyze made one like this, and then I could combine it with their battery-powered cameras in other locations and monitor all cameras on the same system.
I have an old computer that I could probably use as an DVR/NVR, but I'd consider ones with cloud storage subscriptions too.
I have a Moto G Stylus with an Android 10 OS. I'm able to use stream wi-fi from my home cable router with no issues.
But, when I wanted to try and use wi-fi direct with my tv that has wi-fi direct, when I went to the phone to activate wi-fi direct, it was greyed out. What setting could I have on that would cause that??

Hi, is there a way to connect a laptop to a gaming desktop (in the same house) using wi-fi direct? I imagine it would be a lot faster than using a slow overloaded router for the traffic..
Other alternative is using my phone as a hotspot, this way is a lot faster and less latency than going through router. However this means neither machine has any internet (without using up all my phone's data).
So when checking "ipconfig /all" I see that there are Wireless LAN adapter Local Area Connection* 1 and 2, which both have a description of Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter #1 and #2.
What are these and should I be worried?
Hi all,
Can anyone help explain how Wi-Fi direct works. I'm of the understanding that it's a peer to peer connection from your existing wifi adapter?
How does this work if your existing adapter has already formed a connection with a WAP? I'm assuming the standard allows this somehow? How does this impact the existing radio?
Has anyone seen issues with this technology specifically when using windows 10 laptops?
