After several years of working at this company, I've finally had enough. Employees are grossly mistreated and our jobs are held over our heads like we should be grateful to work for a company that literally doesn't care about you unless you're dying or a family member has passed away.
I don't mean to say this in an offensive way, (because I'm not entirely educated on the matter,) but we get a lot of people in the Indian community, who are unable to eat beef. As a result, they come to BWW for wings. What they may not know is that the wings are cooked in beef tallow. Our managers tell us not to say anything about it either.
Cooks are not paid evenly throughout the kitchen. Regardless of skill level, time within the company or manager favoritism. I was making $17 an hour as a cook. More than people who had been there longer than me, and some shift leads. My G.M. told me if they found put how much I was making, she'd have a riot on her hands. 90% of them are supporting a family, or trying to, on minimum wage.
Cleaning procedures (at the store I worked at) were atrocious. Some of which are basically using hot water to spray off the containers that hold the raw chicken. The sauce pumps (and I can not ficking exaggerate this) had mushrooms growing in them, because they hadn't been cleaned and sanitized.
If you've ever gotten sick from BWW, I guarantee it was due to cross contamination or temperature. After telling my co-workers I was leaving, and telling my G.M. to eat a bag of dicks, I am finally free of that prison.
Anyone working there, get out before it's too late. Anyone who eats there, I seriously suggest you to consider other options.
Edit: Thank you for all the awards and positive feedback. I didn't expect it to become this big, but I'm glad more people are aware now. I'm trying to respond to y'all as best as I can. Also, I'll be posting my chicken wing recipe so you can try making them at home.
I often hear about how identity politics push away conservatives from working with the left. For me personally, being gay and black, when I hear something like that most of the time it's used to dismiss discrimination or prejudice faced based on identity. By contrast when conservative pundits talk about how Christians are persecuted here, immigrants are going to make white people a minority (they dogwhistle that usually), the LGBTQ community is "destroying" the nuclear family and etc. I don't hear the same criticism levied at conservatives pushing away left wingers.
I wonder if anyone else noticed this?
It's so discouraging to me that it seems like I'm not able to help younger teens without being accused of something. Like, I'm 18, and in my discord community i met a 14 year old kid. His home life is horrible, with an abusive dad and older brother (his mother abandoned the family and the dad blames him) and I felt horrible for this guy, so I decided that I wanted to try to take on an older brother role for him, to be the male role model in his life that he never had. Over the past year I've seen him mature a lot and he's also a really smart kid, in all honesty I'm really proud of him.
Today someone heard about us and they accused me of being a groomer, and grooming this kid for myself, and in all honesty, that hurt me a lot, like, I think of him like a younger brother, and tried my hardest to improve his life as best I could online, but doing so seemed to make people think of me as a creep cause I'm an 18 year old hanging out with a 14 year old.
Idk man I just feel sad, because to think that people may think of me as trying to groom him, but I'd never do that, I am a big influence on him, and I know that, so I am always careful to be the best person I can around him, but for some reason I am the bad guy to some ppl. Idk it just is kinda annoying man. I feel like I'm getting punished for my kindness.
Edit: Holy shit I woke up and there is like 1000000 more comments, I am sorry if I can't reply to everyone it's really overwhelming hahah. Thank you all so much for your support and kind words, it genuinely means so much to me to get all this support from ppl outside of my friendgroup for once in my life. Thank you everyone, sincerely I mean it this really means a lot to me
Not sure if this has been mentioned on this sub but I found this particularly interesting bc right wing idpol is rarely discussed. From the interview:
Klein: โDo you think a byproduct of how the Republican Party has changed is that it puts less emphasis on economic issues than it used to? I was struck by how much more energized Republicans were the week that the American Rescue Plan passed by the debate over Dr. Seussโs books than by this $1.9 billion spending bill.โ
Sanders: "Look, the energy in the Republican Party has nothing to do with tax breaks to the rich. Republicans are not going into the streets, the Trump Republicans, saying: We need more tax breaks for the rich, we need more deregulation, we need to end the Affordable Care Act and throw 30 million people off their health care. Thatโs not what theyโre talking about."
"What Trump understood is we are living in a very rapidly changing world. And there are many people โ most often older white males, but not exclusively โ who feel that theyโre losing control of the world that they used to dominate. And somebody like Donald Trump says: โWe are going to preserve the old way of life, where older white males dominated American society. Weโre not going to let them take that away from us.โ That is where their energy is."
"One of the gratifying things is the American Rescue Plan had a decent amount of Republican support โ 35 percent, 40 percent. But among lower-income Republicans, that number was 63 percent."
"So I think that our political goal in the coming months and years is to do everything we can to reach out to young people, reach out to people of color, reach out to all people who believe in economic and social justice, but also reach out aggressively to working-class Republicans and tell them weโre going to make sure that you and your children will have a decent standard of living. Weโre going to raise the minimum wage for you. Weโre going to make it easier for you to join a union. Weโre going to make sure that health care in America is a human right. Weโre going to make sure that if we do tax breaks, youโre going to get them and not the billionaire class. I think we have a real opportunity to pick up support in that area. And if we can do that โ if you can get 10 percent of Trumpโs support and grow our support by addressing the real issues that our people feel are important โ youโre going to put together a c
... keep reading on reddit โกI used to work in a govt bank, but am still a part of the WhatsApp group of that particular batch. I remember fuming and feeling sad after reading incredibly hateful messages and stuff like that from right wing members, last year.
It happened during that tabligi jamaat thing, with many of these educated intellectuals posting fake forwards from years before, of people spitting on vegetables and fruits. They were also quite active during the early stages of Kisaan andolan, and had zero issues with calling them terrorists and antinationals.
Now, finally when they are on the receiving end, these nuts are against the govt. Still there are a few in that group who aren't openly critical of govt., and at the same time are in full support of the banker strikes. I know that they are in trouble, but still i find it funny that they are now against the govt only when it has targeted them.
Everyone's turn is eventually gonna come. The one calling someone antinational today is going to be branded with the same moniker tomorrow.
From Trump to Brexit, to the rise of the far-right in Europe, I'm sure many of us are wondering why there has been a sudden rise of right-wing populism/nationalism in the last few years. However, it seems that Canada and New Zealand are some of the few remaining countries where these types of politics have yet to gain traction in mainstream politics
Their respective leaders, Trudeau and Ardern are often praised for their progressiveness, and their kind, empathetic approach to politics in a time when many politicians turn to populism and increasingly play the "us vs them" card. Many progressive Americans and Australians in particular, look to their respective "little brother" country as a shining example of what their countries should be in terms of social progress, race relations etc.
Why do you think Canada, and NZ, in particular, have largely resisted the rise of the right happening worldwide?
Do you think there will come a time when right-wing politics will make a comeback in Canada and NZ?
I can delete if this is too early to post
