Famous Grouse in the last 15 years

What went on at the Famous Grouse over the last 15 years? I've never seen so many different bottles of a 12 year old expression.

I think this is the correct order...

1

2

3

4 (a vatted malt, not Gold Reserve)

5

6

7 (latest version, not Gold Reserve)

Judging by the logo it looks like they re-branded 3 times in this period as well. Yet they never stopped being the highest selling whisky brand in Scotland.

The famous grouse, good or not?

I bought the famous grouse from the shop a few weeks ago and I hated it. It tasted really cheap and had an overpowering paint thinner taste like Smirnoff (another cheap alcohol (vodka)). Anyways I didn’t enjoy it because it had a bad taste and just tasted cheap overall.

What I’d like to know is whether other people consider it a good whisky (for a beginner might I add)
