I had to write an essay classifying the types of something for English. I wrote it about Family Guy! I was wondering, what do you guys think?

Thanks for reading! I already turned it in but I thought about sharing it with you guys! I wrote about the three different comedy styles used in Family Guy. I decided to write it because being a mod on this subreddit inspired me. Well, here it is. Sorry if it's boring.

Family Guy has many different styles of comedy, each equally play an important role in the show. Family Guy was created by Seth MacFarlane, a man who wrote for popular TV shows like Johnny Bravo and Dexter’s Lavatory. Seth’s style of comedy caught the eyes of Fox executives, and later gave him the opportunity to create a pilot of a show that would later be known as Family Guy. Family Guy’s comedy style has evolved since its first few seasons and today I’m going to cover the styles of comedy it currently holds.

Cringe comedy is the comedy of embarrassment, or otherwise known as the comedy that makes the viewer feel uncomfortable. Cringe comedy usually breaks the boundaries of unspoken topics in today’s society, but is usually funny and accepted by large audiences. Family Guy didn’t start out using this comedy, but as the show evolved it was used more and more. One of Family Guy’s most famous scenes is cringe-comedic, and it’s used in the fourth season episode, ‘8 Simple Rules for Buying My Teenage Daughter’. In this particular scene Peter, Chris, Stewie, and the family dog Brian all drink a bottle of ipecac (a vomiting agent, typically used when people eat something poisonous), and the last one to throw up gets the last piece of pie in the fridge. They all start throwing up in the living room that lasts for a one and a half minute long scene. The scene ends when they’re all holding their stomach moaning when the wife Lois comes in and asks, “Who want’s chowder”? Because of the thought of food (or her horrible cooking), they all simultaneously throw up again. Another example of cringe comedy used in Family Guy was in the season nine episode, ‘Halloween on Spooner Street’. One of the story arcs in this episode is when Meg makes out with a boy in a costume at a party. When both of them remove their mask to see who they are, it turns out that the guy is her brother Chris. They both scream and freak out. This is an example of cringe comedy because when it was revealed that the brother and sister were making out, it made the view feel uncomfortable while being funny. Family Guy also portrays sex jokes and sexual actions which isn’t just cringe comedy, it’s also blue comedy.

A lot of jo

The reason I have issues with food and cooking, Thanks mom

Had a commenter grave dig my posts to try and shame me for an incident I mentioned where my entitled mother stole food and tried to argue that parents do what they do out of love and that I have no right to not appreciate everything they do. So let's debunk this new trend and shed light on the food stealing now that I know a few other things with my Dads input as well.

It seems ever since i was little Mom was aggressive with food. Mom has always been a SAHM and would make dinner for both me and my brother and pack us off to bed. We lived in Illinois by that naval academy and were far enough away that Dad would come home after Mom had put us down for the night so I guess I always assumed as children do that parents are godly and fair and that Mom had set aside dinner for Dad.

No, she didn't and she forbade him to cook after he got home or it would wake us. Often my Dad who was a young twenty something could only have a teacup of salsa and a bowl of tortilla strips for dinner. His equally young twenty something wife who smoked a pack a week to stay thin and was at the time a vegan was being horrible and I never knew. His breakfasts consisted of coffee and a few of those rice cake things, lunch was ramen, a coke and a nutter butter. I thought I hit the jackpot as a kid finding the chocolate treat and my dad got mad when I took it once. I didn't understand then but now, I feel like an awful person back then because that was his second highest caloric intake.

Week day dinners were chips and salsa or nothing with weekends meaning he got to eat with us. He got to eat well, because he stuck to my brother and I not to be starved. This is supposedly around the time the Wall fell if my Mom's tales of how horrid Dad was for clattering the kitchens after bedtime are any indication.

-----

After we moved to California with Dads new duty station his duty station was closer to base housing and could be home for dinner but he maintained the chips and salsa habit. As my brother and I got older, we had the usual appetite of growing kids. Mom tried to limit our intake saying that we shouldn't be going through this or that any faster than some arbitrary time and attempted to implement a rule that would restrict us to a 'fair share' of a snack.

There was a lot of push back as my brothers OCD meant he'd keep horking food unless personally overseen but he'd throw a fit if overseen so i had to get into everything first for my bit. Mom wasn't pleased that her rules lead t

I read & rate the Candlekeep Mysteries so you don't have to! (xpost r/CandlekeepMysteries)

There are a lot of adventures in the latest book, and maybe you’re wondering if it’s worth your time to run a particular one either for AL (as that guidance comes forth) or as a private one-shot or to modify and insert in your home game. I will provide my take on the entertainment value, story quality, interest of mechanics within… and of the most important to me, for a book called Candlekeep Mysteries, are these actually mysteries? Adventure rating and a high-level spoiler-free summary (plus Mystery judgment) right at the top in bold, then detailed spoiler-lite comments follow below.

The conceit that these are all spurred by books found in Candlekeep is cute, but usually unrealistic. Who knows how likely it is the players will want to find information on a very narrow field of lore. Those prompts usually feel like they’re written with the adventure in mind and then the authors came up with a research prompt that assumes you WANT to find this adventure; it might have been better using much broader input prompts that could funnel more common research topics toward these stories. In any event, most adventures have a shoehorned questgiver, which is fine, and I am assuming that players have basically decided to follow the breadcrumbs and engage with the story in my ratings.

I quite like the concept of this book, pulling a variety of adventure types coming from many voices in the community. Some of the stories suffer from over-editing or under-development; some of these are real turds and I have to wonder how they survived playtest feedback to take up space in this anthology. The majority of the adventures are ultimately worth your time and quite playable – but for the next anthology, it might be interesting to see adventures keyed to some common theme other than ‘how you find the hook’, such as Celebrations (someone is ruining the festival / help find the guest of honor / retrieve the rare component for the solstice ritual, etc.) or having how you get the hook be more deliberate (such as an adventuring guild or major faction(s) is recruiting adventurers to solve problems and offers the chance to build relationships with NPCs, like an improved version of what Rise of Tiamat used in its framing story)

Enough digressions – here are the reviews!

1/5 = This is a complete waste of your time as written, and also it’s not even a mystery.

2/5 = This is amateurish and boring. While it’s technically a sequence of encounters, you’re better off finding something else

Don’t let it in.

“Please let me in. I’m so cold.”

Growing up, my best friend was Matthew Ramsey. He was a year older than me but still in my grade—not because he was stupid, but his father had died when he was in the fourth grade and for a few months Matt was having a lot of problems at home and at school. When he got held back and put in my class, we became fast friends, and it wasn’t long before I was spending more time at his house than my own.

Matt’s mom was always nice, but she was also working most of the time, so that meant we wound up hanging out with Matt’s uncle Gene more than anyone else. He left us to our own devices most of the time, but if we were having a sleepover and Matt’s mom had a late shift, Gene would come over and keep an eye on us until she got home.

Those nights are some of my favorite memories of childhood. Hanging out with my best friend while his cool uncle cooked us hamburgers and told us stories he’d lived or heard during twenty years of traveling the world in the army. He was retired on disability when I knew him, and just looking at the pot-bellied, grey-haired man swigging a beer while absently poking at the grill, I had a hard time believing he’d ever been a soldier, much less the globe-trotting adventurer he told about in his stories.

But when he settled down and started talking, everything seemed to magically change. Unlike a lot of adults, he seemed to understand and appreciate what we wanted to hear and were interested in. Tales of battle and exotic lands, guns and tanks, interesting people and dangerous creatures. As we spent time with him, I felt sure that he’d run out of stories, but he never did. In fact, in the last years I knew him, he started telling us about some of the stranger things he’d ever seen or heard of.

If it was someone else, I’d have immediately written these stories off as fantasy—increasingly elaborate and sensational stories to entertain his maturing and potentially jaded audience of two. But Gene wasn’t really that kind of guy. He was a good storyteller, but he was honest, and I never got the sense that he was embellishing anything beyond putting a slight polish on a potentially dull tale. And while I can’t say for sure that much of what he told us wasn’t bullshit, what seems clear to me now is that one of his stories probably saved my life.

This was when I was about twelve and Matt had just turned thirteen. We were going to camp out in the woods right behind Matt’s house, and

The Disappearance of Laureen Rahn (PART ONE OF TWO): On a spring night in 1980, a New Hampshire woman came home to find her 14-year-old daughter missing. Despite various traces, sightings, and phone calls possibly from the missing girl, she’s never been found. What happened to Laureen Rahn?

(Note: this was originally one long post. Due to the character limit, I have broken it into two parts. The second part is here.)

Disappearance:

The evening of April 26, 1980, was supposed to be an exciting one for 14-year-old Laureen Ann Rahn. First of all, because it was the beginning of her spring break, but also because she had the apartment to herself that evening as her mother Judith "Judy" Rahn (née Swanson), had gone out of town for the day. So, after spending the day hanging around her neighbourhood, she invited two friends -- one a girl her age, one a slightly older boy (alternately said to be 15 or 21 years old) -- back to her apartment to drink.

Laureen was born on the 3rd of April, 1966. Her parents were on the young side -- her mother was only about 20 when she gave birth to Laureen, though that wasn't unusual in those days. Laureen was just a baby when her mother and father divorced. Though she and Judith both used his surname, "Rahn", she only lived with her mother and didn't see her father often.

A striking young girl, blue-eyed with "sandy" light brown hair -- both traits which ran in the family -- Laureen had a "fetching smile". Standing at 5'4, she weighed only about 90 pounds. Laureen had a prominent scar on her upper leg -- at age 5 or 6, she'd accidentally fallen onto broken glass. Recently, she had posed for her eighth grade school portrait, now the most famous photograph of her. In the black-and-white photo, Laureen gazes at the camera. Her lips are turned up with just a hint of a smile, and you can't help but wonder what's going through her mind.

At the time, Laureen and Judith lived in Apartment 6 on the third floor of 289 Merrimack Street, in the New Hampshire city of Manchester. Manchester is the most populous city in northern New England -- in 1980, the population consisted of over 90,000 people. It's located in southern New Hampshire, only about 3 hours from the US-Canada border.

Judith made her living as a nightclub and restaurant owner. While her family was originally from the Manchester area, and Laureen herself was born there, the two had spent 6 years (from the time Laureen was 4 to 10) living in Miami, Florida before moving back to their home state. Mother and daughter were close -- the Trace Evidence pod

I have my own story about coding during long all-nighters. It is very long.

This is a proper horror story in the sense that it is genuinely scary and tragic. It also contains code. But it's not particularly terrible code. It's programming horror, not /r/programminghorror. It's /r/TalesFromProgrammers (apparently an actual thing, but I've been in this sub for many years and I want to share this with the community that I've been a part of). This post took a long time to write, because I kept drifting off into flashbacks during it, so please be nice. There is no TL;DR; the story is trying to get you to feel what I felt, not the contents. I can't do that in a TL;DR. Umm, actually, here, have a jokey one: "Python literally gave me brain damage."

Anyway. I've dealt with a lot of mental health issues over the course of my life. DID and C-PTSD from my parents calling me lazy and worthless throughout my childhood because of what is now turning out to possibly be a degenerative disease that's gonna kill me in a few years. I'm slowly going blind and deaf and losing the use of my hands and legs, and I've spent a good chunk of brainpower throughout my life figuring out how to code even in that case. (I have a lot of interesting things to say about it, but that doesn't belong in this story.) Then there's all the baggage that comes from being trans, from a history of depression, suicide, and self-harm to some regular, event-based PTSD from the year I came out.

I say this not to evoke sympathy. (Saying you're trans or have DID instantly makes sympathy for you turn into hatred or disgust, anyway, in my experience.) I just know that if I don't, then I will get a lot of questions asking why I did this, and I will have people chastising me and talking down to me for having made stupid decisions. I know I did not do things optimally. I know that my decisions were self-destructive. I see my life in third person, I see time sideways, I see ends built into beginnings and consequences built into actions. I have very little say in the things I do, or the things that happen to me. I just commentate and munch popcorn. I am the person watching TV and yelling at the idiots on the screen because the plot is poorly written and none of the characters are likeable, but the characters are me and the screen is reality.

With that out of the way... this story takes place in the fall semester of my 4th year of college. I was taking three majors at once, so it wasn't my last; it was supposed to be the second-to-last, but that fell through, too. I am technic

My little brother is an entitled golden child

Some of what will be mentioned may be triggering to some people, for which I'm sorry, I didn't like it much either when I grew up living it. I escaped this crap show in 2013 and Donald is still living at home with Mom, where he belongs, It's a life he's always chosen and I dot enjoy the thought of having to visit them.

TL:DR You know your little brother is an entitled brat/person when. you can break down every part of your life and smell the hot stink of their bootycrack on everything

Edit" OH MY GOD I'm sorry, I must have hit my laptop screen when i closed it for lunch and posted the whole thing without the chippy choppy i was planning!

Edit2: there will be a part 2 https://www.reddit.com/r/EntitledPeople/comments/m1xwcu/my_little_brother_is_an_entitled_golden_child/

------

If you've seen my other stories you may have heard me refer to my 18 months younger little brother Donald as entitled without really bringing up anything to support it outside a few incidents that could be waved aside as pure sibling rivalry which I can say is not true having life with him for 27 years of my life and been abused and bullied him for as long as I can remember.

The first incident I can remember involved his weird sleeping habits. he has OCD so he needed things just so and I was either in preschool or kindergarten so we could still get away with climbing in bed with our parents when we had a nightmare. After a few months my mom disallowed this and Donald began coming to my room, I agreed being a good big sister but I came to regret it. Donald's OCD demanded he be in the exact center of the bed with the blankets tucked in around him so that no moving air could touch him.

This meant that me being on the edge of my full sized bed wasn't good enough as I lifted the blankets and given it was winter I wasn't willing to be without my blankets just so his sensitivities could be satisfied by me freezing my butt off outside the blankets for him. We use to live in Illinois so the winters weren't fun in only flannel jammies and a stuffie without anything else. I tried compromising saying he could have the two lower blankets around him if I could have the upper blanket and comforter, no he had to have all 4 blankets tucked about him and the flat sheet. He'd also prefer if I didn't wiggle my bed while he slept.

We had hissed arguments that ended one day with him curling up and kicking me out of my own bed like a goat with such force that my head hit the end table next to my bed

Scouts Rank the Wr's and Tightends in upcoming draft

The NFL Draft is one thing, a football career quite another.

Suffice it to say that it has been a long time since two can’t-miss prospects such as Ja’Marr Chase and Kyle Pitts have surfaced at wide receiver and tight end, respectively, in the same draft.

Scouts are a notoriously independent lot. They spend their existence differentiating one player from another, stating if not arguing their opinions and participating in what ultimately becomes a team’s draft ratings. But when it comes to Chase and Pitts, you can’t find a dissenting voice.

“So glaringly amazing” was how one veteran of 20 scouting years described Pitts, the junior from Florida. Chase, who played at LSU for two seasons before opting out in 2020, is a “modern-day Sterling Sharpe,” according to another.

They both played in the Southeastern Conference, as did all five of the top-rated wide receivers.

“If you perform in big games in the SEC, you’re going to play well in the NFL,” said one personnel evaluator. “The fan level. The interest that you draw. How to handle the public. All those things carry over to the NFL as far as you handle yourself. Some of them are going to fail, but it gives them a better chance, for sure.”

Chase and Pitts both were unanimous choices at their positions in my poll of 16 evaluators over the past three weeks. That hasn’t happened at wide receiver since 2007, when Calvin Johnson came out of Georgia Tech to claim the unanimous vote of 18 scouts. From 2008 to 2020, the only wideout that came within one of vote of unanimity was Michael Crabtree in 2009.

“Chase is one of the best wide receivers in the last 10 years,” said a longtime scout. “He’s as strong as one of those big tight ends. He just goes and takes the ball away. He can take an underneath ball and go 80 yards. He can just run right by you and catch it 60 yards downfield. He’s built like a fullback almost, but can run like a wide receiver. He’s as good as it gets.”

A.J. Smith, the former general manager of the San Diego Chargers, in 2007 labeled Johnson, aka “Megatron,” as “one of the easiest picks of all time. Who’s the one guy you’re betting the house on will be a performer, won’t embarrass you, won’t get the money and run south? This is the one guy.”

2020 Bingo Retrospective, or How I Completed My First Bingo Card Ever

I did it, my fellow readers! The final version of my card is here.

This was my second time participating in the bingo and after my failed attempt last year, I decided to follow the advice I was given and took a different approach. This time, instead of making a strict list and trying to stick to it, I made an exclusive bingo shelf on Goodreads and put the books that caught my interest there, which gave me multiple choices for each square so I just read whatever took my fancy at any given moment. Also I found this year's card much easier than the previous one.

Initially I wanted to do a full hard mode card but I couldn't find any fitting titles that seemed remotely interesting for some of these squares. I didn't want to force myself to read books I wasn't interested in either because that would have likely resulted in a reading slump. So I gave up on that front and set myself another goal, which was reading only women authors, and I'm happy to report that I achieved it.

Once again I read many new-to-me authors and found new favourites. I discovered more about my preferences and refined my tastes further. I should also note that I carefully curated my bingo shelf which is why I ended up enjoying most of what I read.

Thank you all for your recs and thank you our lovely mods for your hardwork, this has been a total blast!

Edit: Thank you for the award, kind stranger!

Edit v2: Just realized I somehow worded the title wrong. I meant this was my first completed card, not my first bingo attempt. Sorry about that!

Edit v3: Credit for the visual card goes to u/shift_shaper and u/CoffeeArchives. Here's the thread with the spreadsheet I used.

I Spar With Wild Ones At Night

I played with the wild ones as a child. I remember that as clear as yesterday. Lending words and trading for toys, swapping names and titles, little epithets to take home to Mom. Sometimes she’d smack my hands and tell me not to say their names past eight o’clock. Other times she’d ask if I brought anything good home. A bronze whistle, a Nintendo DS, a whole box of cookies, unopened, a straw doll with no face.

Mom was a lot of things, and yes, a liar was one of them. For every truth she told me, whether about faeries, how light switches worked, or where babies came from, there was a lie not long after. My father was a prince who left her penniless. I’d had a twin stolen by the fae. Mom was the president of the United States. I’d gotten pretty good at discerning her truths from lies by the time I turned eleven. Eleven was an important year in my life because that’s when the US government also caught up with enough of my mother’s lies to land her in jail for more decades than I’d be able to wait out. Forgery, impersonation, identify theft, something like that. The kind of stuff that’s hard for a child to understand.

What I did understand, was that I was about to leave my cozy home on the outskirts of a quaint town in upstate Maine for a shabby apartment in the suburbs of New York City, with my father, who was, as I’d guessed, not a prince. He also hadn’t known I’d existed. Thought I was another lie mom told until he got a phone from the police saying his daughter needed a home. He took me in, though he treated me more like a feral cat than a daughter. Kind. Gentle. Afraid.

My childhood passed as a blur of mundane experiences and uninspired inspiration that led me to my college years.

That… that’s kinda where I’m picking up.

Something about returning to a wooded area stirred something at the base of my memory. Events from my childhood I’d blocked out, for want of a better phrase. It’s hard, at first to explain why I might have tried to forget so many experiences of the fae when I was younger, especially when the early days, those stupid sunny memories, were so wild and free. But when I moved to the city, my recollection of dealing with faeries gets blurry. Not just because there’s something off about urban magic, but because that’s when people started getting hurt.

People like William.

My first few nights away at school were a mess of late nights and nightmare, of paranoia and stress. I’d been so excited to leave the urban center of New York City for a

[Tales From the Terran Republic] Lofting Embers

I wonder how things are going over in the Federation.

They probably have everything under control by now, right?

The rest of this series can be found here

***

In a still intact sub-basement of a blasted office building in Capital City’s Porkietown, a motley assortment of xenos gathered around a table.

“That’s it?!?” a tentacled xeno exclaimed as it, clutching a scanner, crowded around the disassembled Terran AK-47D.

“Yep,” a middle-aged woman clad in grey fatigues replied, “That’s it.”

The small crowd of xenos started muttering excitedly.

“This alloy is very unusual,” another one stated staring at their scanners. “It’s mostly iron and nickel but mixed in are all manner of elements! I’ve never seen an alloy like it. Is there a non-Terran source of this special metal?”

The woman laughed.

“Your solar systems are absolutely loaded with ‘sources’! They probably just melted down some random nickel-iron asteroid. They do shit like that. Lemme see.”

The woman peered at the xeno’s scanner, pulled out her phone, and took a screenshot.

Her phone beeped.

“Culvair-216.” she said in a matter of fact tone. “It was a fairly good sized rock that got claimed and eaten during the Great War. Looks like it was good enough for them just to ‘melt and run’. You see all sorts of crazy shit in their lower-grade alloys, especially when they get pressed.”

“I thought the Terrans were known for the quality of their alloys,” the xeno replied it’s eyes blinking in confusion.

“I hate to give those assholes credit for anything,” the woman said with a smirk, “but they make some of the highest quality alloys in the galaxy… when they want to. What you specify is exactly what you get, down to the atom. That being said, their industry runs on cheap ‘rock iron’ just like this.”

“...How?” the xeno gasped. “How can they do that and everything not just fall apart?”

“It would take a day to fully cover it but the short answer is that their metallurgists and engineers are good enough that they can wing it. Besides, they over-engineer things to hell and back. If something needs to be two millimeters thick they will make it five if they can get away with it. If something needs to be perfect they will make it perfect but if they can use a ‘melt and run’ alloy that is literally one twentieth of the price that’s what they are going to do. I absolutely hate the motherfuckers but I have complete faith in thei

Gatekeeping Neckbeard Tries to Get a Pity Hookup

Through this subreddit I have learned that I possibly classify as "beard-bait". I am a game developer (visual effects artist), who loves cartoons and anime alike. I have been casually playing DnD, and I count myself blessed to not have dealt with the nasty scenarios some poor souls have with that game. I have also picked up the hobby of cosplaying during lockdown, its been a great way to challenge myself with fashion choices and makeup and hair styling.

With all of the listed above, and me being a woman in an industry dominated by men, it is fair to say I am the target of many a hot-n-bothered or hot-headed neckbeards. I am still a rookie with dating and relationships, but my first dating experience was more or less unsavory. I use a lot of the things that happened to learn and grow from to this day and now I know better about particular red flags and what to avoid.

Back then though I didn't know better. This took place the same summer the InflationBeard story took place. I had not been dating or in any relationship up until this point. Relationships at my grade school days had a flair for the dramatic and the men in my high school were going through a "Duck Dynasty" phase that didn't interest me at all.

Mess Up #1 of many in this story. I made a Plenty-of-Fish account. I lived in a retirement community, I was bored out of my mind. It was either that or jump in the canal in my backyard and become buddies with the gators. Looking back that would have been the better option. Now due to POF being a free platform there is no shortage of freaks and creeps on it, and with "gamer/artist" in my profile I was getting the more obscure ones. One of them actually managed to break through and ask me out on a date. The only difference between this man and the others was he did not open up with "I'm a nice guy" or "Does the carpet match the drapes". My standards were that low back then.

I agree to let him take me out to dinner nearby at a tiki bar by the beach. He arrived in his truck and actually had a large white teddy bear as a gift for me. He was a fairly attractive person. Solid 7 out of 10 in Florida standards. He was by no means gussied up for this date and in my defense I was not much of a looker myself. We get sat down at a table and the waving of red flags commences.

Usually when my date learns that I am in game development the dreaded question comes up "WhAt GaMeS dO yOu PlAy?" On one hand I hate being asked this question, because as a girl there is

Came Across A EP In The Entitled People Reddit. Rants About A simple Grammar Error I Made. Seems To Think All Disabilities Are The Same. The Community Fights Back.

So everything will be a copy and paste of what was said. A Reddit user went on a rant about a simple grammar error I made where I said women instead of woman. But everyone and I fight back. Had they been more respectful in their first comment, things would have transpired much differently. Also, I think this fits because they identified themselves as a parent. But if you feel it doesn’t fit, I’ll delete it.

Entitled Reddit User: Dude, this would be a better tale, easier to read and more understandable if you knew the difference between a bunch of women and a single woman.

Do you seriously not know about plurals? That a cat is a cat, but a bunch of them are cats? That you can have a single knife on your hip or a drawer full of knives?

You're clearly an adult and yet you somehow don't know the difference between a man and a group of men? Between a woman and the women she was borne of?

Come on, this shit just comes off as lazy and stupid.

EDIT: just gonna throw this out there: I see this "grammatical error" a fair amount. With women and woman. I have NEVER seen anyone confuse man and men. Thats kinda fucked.

Myself: Have you ever considered that I have difficulties because maybe for example, I suffer a brain injury, so grammar can be hard for me sometimes. I struggle with grammar because of it, so be a bit more respectful because you don’t know what disability a person has, or struggles they may be facing. I could have been dyslexic, or anything like that. Absolutely no reason to bash like that. Be respectful.

Another Reddit User: Additionally, it's almost like wow this website is used by lots of people all over the world, for many of whom English is not their first language — or their second or third language. It's also supposedly one of the more difficult languages to learn, however I am a native English speaker so I can't really comment on that.

It's wonderful that you understand the rules pertaining to the inflection of English nouns, but I think a person who lacks greater awareness and empathy for others is much stupider.

Another Reddit User Replying To EP: Who pissed in your cornflakes? Maybe English isn't their first language.

Entitled Reddit User: Except I'm also an invisibly disabled person and my oldest two kids are autistic with my oldest being touched enough he will likely spend the rest of his life on disability due to it so how about NO. This is not a disability thing.

One of the first things in learning a language is figuring out p

Why Do I Even Exist?

!!!! This is not a cry for help or advice, these are simply my thoughts and where they take me. I've said this multiple times to so many of my friends, but I am completely fine, and in fact I am quite happy with life. These are simply my existential thoughts. That shouldn't even matter, because everyone else is a figment of my imagination anyway ;) !!!

- Severly incomplete copy. 15,800 Words compared to my 36,400-word version.

DISCLAIMER 1: I do not believe I possess the vocabulary to be able to sum up all my thoughts with a couple of sentences, it is incredibly hard for me to articulate my thoughts without making new connections, so it is quite a long read and there will be no TLDR. This is my first reddit post, so I apologise if it does not belong here as I think I will ramble on for quite a bit. This post is also just my unfiltered thoughts, I am going to proofread it but not restructure it as I feel it defeats the purpose of “unfiliterism”, instead just loosely label each section and hope I do not go off topic, although all of these topics are pretty closely bonded.

DISCLAIMER 2: *At times in this post, I seem to come off as a stereotypical conspiracy theorist, but as I stated in disclaimer 1, it is extremely hard to find words to articulate my ideas. Also, I throw accusations that I am the only real person, and everyone else is a robot (robot being a metaphor for “not real”), so I am left with a dilemma: If this is a simulation (artificial world, not necessarily simulation) of some sort, then does anything I say or do matter? If I am the only real person, why bother trying to express my concern to robots? Why bother typing away on this keyboard on this robot created device? I don’t care anymore. I don’t care if it is a risk to let robots get a better understanding of what’s happening in my head, I need to let these ideas out NOW, because what if my fears come true, and there is no purpose? Then all of my thoughts and emotions would have bottled up to my death with no climax. I want these ideas out there. I want to decrease the intensity of these thoughts just a little bit, and if everyone is conscious, then perhaps we’re in this together, and the only way to discover any meaning is to share thoughts and ideas. I don’t care if I’m wrong, I don’t care if this post somehow ends up in the hands of a “superior” or something, exterminate me if you have to, I can’t stress enough how little I care anymore. Wait...this post doesn’t need to end

I’ve discovered the first black dwarf star...(Part 1)

Part 2

One of the most universal experiences amongst all humanity are the moments spent gazing into the cosmic time map of the stars. Many have wondered if other life exists, how did it all begin, what does this all mean? These questions drove me to the stars from a very young age, and by grade school, I was already reading college-level literature in everything relating to astronomy and astrophysics. Still, my hunger for knowledge was insatiable. For every question answered, ten more would sprout in its place. Why are we here? How did life come to be in such hellish conditions? What about space itself? Could life exist out there in the freezing black void?

The answer isn’t what you’d expect. You have no reason to believe a reason I say, and even so, this message may not reach you at all. But I won’t let our sacrifices go unheard. I have to leave a record in case I don’t make it back to tell you this myself. I have to try. For everyone back home on Earth. For Dr. Bigham. For Weaver.

Our mission was top secret, our purpose, and destination unknown until just before launch. We were told we were selected to test the first spacecraft constructed for faster-than-light travel. The mythical Alcubierre drive; my mentor and colleague Dr. Evan Bigham, through some miracle of science and technology, had created it. Ever the stubborn mule, Dr. Bigham only reluctantly invited the world’s most elite scientists and engineers to finalize the ship’s construction and personally selected the crew from a pool of participants around the globe.

Dr. Bigham had been my hero when I was attending university. He had such a fire in his soul for astronomy and would reject all absolutes when it came to physics. “Nothing is impossible” was his mantra. He would talk endlessly about how faster-than-light travel could be possible, how humanity could harvest the power of black holes and become the titans of the universe. It was our destiny. His passion was infectious, and so I made it my own life’s goal to see humanity finally gain access to the stars.

Our endless nights and research finally paid off with the creation of the Space Research Vehicle Arkham. I was in complete shock and didn’t think any of it was real, right up until the moment when I was floating naked in the suspended animation tank, preparing for our four-year trip to the edge of the solar system. There, our journe

First time doing Bingo -- and I completed every square! Short reviews of all books.

This is my first year doing the Book Bingo challenge so I might have messed up somewhere, but I wanted to list the books I read and brief thoughts about them. I'll go more in-depth on some of them in separate threads.

First Row:

Translation: Becoming the Dragon by Alex Sapegin: This book was fine. It wasn't something I either loved or hated. I think it was translated from Russian, if I'm correct, and the storyline felt a bit fragmented. It's a portal fantasy about a boy who's sucked into another dimension and has to survive with nothing, and in some cases being unable to communicate. I felt that several of the scenes were unnecessary and didn't really like the main character much, but the dragon was interesting.

Ice/Snow: Nocturnal Blood by Villemy Mist: This is a vampire story set in Canada. I'm not usually one for vampire stories, but the main character's struggle with OCD, anxiety, and bullying was definitely sympathetic. When her one friend from high school suddenly drops into her life after years of absence, Leia becomes embroiled in a battle to survive, with her only hope being a vampire.

Optimistic: The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers: I loved this book. I loved the diversity of alien races, I loved the characters, and I loved how no matter what happened they stuck with each other and found brightness. Found family themes rock, and they were huge in this book, and bonus points for making me laugh out loud. Definitely check it out!

Necromancy: Bad Witch Burning by Jessica Lewis: This book is powerful and gripping. Katrell's struggle with poverty, with her emotionally abusive mom and her mom's physically abusive boyfriend-of-the-month are rooted in real issues, but Katrell can summon the dead, and she's hoping this is her ticket to financial freedom. Katrell is an amazing character backed up by the ever-awesome Will, her best friend. I got this as an ARC, but once it comes out (August 24th, 2021) definitely check it out! Edit: Here is the full review.

Currently reading the manga (the final) - reactions part 2 (an ex-anime only)

DON’T READ IF YOU ARE AN ANIME ONLY ! Also, the volume 10 reactions are spontaneous I literally wrote every time I was shocked. I read volume 11 and 12 in 2-3 hours, I was so focused. Reactions for those volumes are less raw because I couldn’t stop reading.

#Volume10 - rate (9/10 but I didn’t cry but the drama moments are amazing)

I just love this volume, not as much as loved Vol. 8 but it takes the second spot.

My second best boy Momiji is a man now and still he didn’t lost his habits with Tohru’s (screaming, bunny bag and holding hands). I feel so stupid his feelings were so obvious that I never noticed them, the man was more involved in the love triangle than Yuki, he literally booked 2 trips for Tohru and hugged her all the time. He knew what he was doing. And yet she still sees him like a son/brother not a man, the look she gives him are the same look she gives to Hiro and Kisa. He has my respect : he told his brother and love rival to make moves before HE makes that one specific move, so much confidence you go boy !

Like every single time, I laughed when I saw Akito struggling with Kureno and Shigure. Hatori is way too kind, just go and take Mayuko on a date ugh.

Kisa finally talked to Kyo, she was shaking but THIS WAS CUTE. They are both felines and it’s funny the cat is intimidating the tiger. Kyo and Hiro are being silly. Hiro is getting more and more mature, I was upset when the others "blamed" because he accidentally said "Kyo is the cat", it was obvious that he was worrying for Kyo and condemning him for having feelings. Yuki was spotted in the kitchen and nobody said anything, character development y’all.

Hum, I’m guilty, I used to lowkey ship Shigure and Tohru, I just love how their interactions. Not a dad and his daughter, not an older brother and his younger sister but more of a mentor and his mentee. He can’t be nice huh, that’s his curse and I’m glad he messes around with other women to deal with loneliness because he would definitely hurt Tohru.

The sheet scene was cute maybe it will be better animated. Protect Tohru’s grandpa because I feel like he’s going to die and gave Kyo his blessings to marry Tohru. I cried when Tohru showed Kyo she was hiding other pictures in a frame, it shows she was unconsciously planning to accept her past and move on.

Well Ayame and Mine were not a surprise, I’m glad he found someone who was able to remind him he was a human and could get hurt as well. I was expecting him to tease Yuki and Machi but

Who Is Higuchi Ichiyou? (Spoilers if you haven’t fully watched/read Bungou Stray Dogs)

Higuchi Ichiyou, a port mafia member and the one who commands the Black Lizards. She isn’t respected by the mafia, she isn’t useful to the mafia ability wise but why is she here?

Let us begin from the beginning.

Who is the real life Higuchi Ichiyou?

She was born on May 2, 1872 in a nagaya (row house) on the premises of the Tokyo prefectural office (present Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo Prefecture) in Uchisaiwaicho, Ichi shoku, Daini daiku, Tokyo-fu (Tokyo Prefecture). Her real name was Natsu HIGUCHI. Her father was Tamenosuke (Noriyoshi) HIGUCHI and her mother was Ayame, the fifth daughter of the Furuya family; Ichiyo was their second daughter. She had an older sister (Fuji) and two older brothers (Sentaro and Toranosuke), and was followed by a younger sister (Kuni). Making Higuchi Ichiyou the fourth child.

Her father, Noriyoshi, was a peasant in Nakahagiwara Village, Yamanashi County, Kai Province (present Koshu City, formerly Enzan City). Her grandfather seems to have been familiar with creative writings such as haikai (seventeen-syllable verse) and keisho (the most important documents in Confucianism); it is said that Noriyoshi preferred academics to farming and, as his marriage with Ayame was not permitted, they practically eloped to Edo. Noriyoshi began as a servant in the Bansho shirabesho (a government-run Western studies education and research institute) and, by good fortune, became a jikisan (immediate retainer) of the bakufu (Japanese feudal government headed by a shogun) by buying a kabu (a right to become doshin) of doshin (a low-ranked official) in 1867. After the Meiji Restoration, he became a low-level official and acquired the status of shizoku (a family or person of samurai ancestry), but was dismissed in 1876. After that, he made a living by working as a real estate broker and similar things.

As a young child, Ichiyo was raised in a family of moderate means, and she enjoyed reading from the time she was small; she read kusazoshi (illustrated story books) and it is said that she read through "Nanso Hakkenden" (a story of eight samurai and a princess of the Satomi family in the Nanso region) by Bakin KYOKUTEI when she was seven years old. In 1877, she entered Hongo Shogakko (Hongo Elementary School), but could not continue because she was too young, so she enrolled in Yoshikawa Gakko (Yoshikawa School), which had been established privately by Tomikichi YOSHIKAWA. In 1881, Toranosuke, her second older brother, set up a branch family and appr

The Shimmer Witch Fell in Love with Me and She's Insanely Jealous

“Get real, man. This whole Shimmer Witch thing is totally bogus.”

I remember saying that because it was totally bogus. At least I thought so; standing on the edge of Harrow Lake in our bare feet, toes in the water, heels on the hard clay bank, a smooth, flat stone in each of our hands. The August sun was hot on our backs but the lake was spring fed and the water was freezing. Besides, we were too old for dumb ghost stories.

If only I had known.

“Dude, c’mon!” Dale pleaded, swatting at a deer fly buzzing around his ear. “We been talking about this since third grade. This’ll probably be our last chance!”

“Yes, William,” Johnny added. “Please, humor us. This may well be the final time we share each other’s company.”

Johnny wouldn’t be starting college for a couple weeks yet, but he was already talking all fancy, calling me “William” instead of “Billy” and wanting us to call him “Johnathan.” He’d even taken to smoking a pipe. It was annoying, but kind of funny at the same time.

He was right, though. Next month, he would be off to his freshman year and Dale had signed up for the Navy. I was the only one who’d be sticking around. I’d gotten a job as a welder at Cooper Metals right out of high school. Graduated on a Thursday afternoon and started working Monday morning. Even as a nineteen year old kid, I could lay down a stack of dimes like nobody’s business, so Mr. Cooper paid me well. Most of the other guys my age were still living with their parents, flipping burgers or washing dishes. I was already renting my own apartment, a one bedroom over McKinny’s Shoe Store, and had just bought a truck. It was used but still cherry. Not a speck of rust. With Dale and Johnny both moving on, though, this would be the last time the three of us would have the chance to summon the Shimmer Witch.

Harrow Lake was up in the High Woods, a forest that covered the river bluffs overlooking our little burgh. It was the source of Bull Run, which flowed downhill and emptied into the Allegheny River on the eastern side of town. On a map, the lake was just an oblong blue blob with no name. We called it a lake because it was too big to be a pond. I have no idea where the “Harrow” part came from. There were no roads up there and, even on the hottest summer days, the spring water was too cold for swimming, so not many people bothered with the hike up to the lake. But there were places along its shore where a guy can reel in as many crappie and smallmouth bass as he can carry. I like

Poe Theatre on the Air (2020-2021) [Anthology/Gothic]

I am always happy to give reviews to podcasters who ask me, especially if they've enjoyed my previous reviews. I'm glad to do my past to help promote podcasts, and it often leads me to some truly undiscovered gems. That brings us to the podcast we're taking a look at today. We're taking a look at season one of Poe Theatre on the Air

Poe Theatre on the Air is a production of the National Edgar Allan Poe Theatre . Each episode is an adaption of a different Edgar Allan Poe short story. While by-and-large faithful to the source material, the writers make sure to put their own spin on the stories. This largely relates to the framing device. The framing device is that you, the listener, are a guest at the asylum of Dr. Maillard. He has developed a radical new treatment to cure the mentally crippled, and he considers all of the inmates his children who have lost their way. Each of the inmates are the protagonist of a different Edgar Allen Poe short story, and they will be sharing their tales with us.

I share The Audio File and The Alt-Hist File over on the Audio Drama Lovers group over on Facebook. If you ever see me over there, feel free to say hi. Not to brag, but my reviews always seem to be reasonably popular with the other members, and I have gained a few fans. One of these fans, named Alex Zavistovich, reach out to me about a podcast he's involved with. Obviously, that podcast is Poe Theatre on the Air. I had a few reviews to take care of, but I agreed to give it a listen and review it later.

I'm glad that I did, because I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. The team is going for the shared universe approach with Poe's short stories. Even Dr. Maillard and his asylum hail from a Poe story. Specifically, he's from "The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether." That's was always one of my favorite Poe stories. Suppose that means it might be a while before that one gets adapted. Poe Theatre on the Air is a fully performed audio drama with actors, music, and sound effects. This gives it a key advantage over a podcast that would just read the stories. The language used in Edgar Allen Poe's writing is a bit archaic by modern standards, and that can be a stumbling block for a lot of people. By contrast, the dialogue and bits of narration Poe Theatre on the Air uses are more modern, while still being a bit formal when needed. This allows the listeners to really focus on an

Happy New Year from Fran Hart's Fabulous Frocks and Happy Haberdashery!!

It is with a happy heart and face-achingly constant smile that I welcome you all back to Fran Hart’s Fabulous Frocks and Happy Haberdashery!!

Oh, friends, how I have missed you all… and a wholehearted “ditto” on that from Ren! How have y’all been? Ren and I have been staying safe and flying low under the radar for the past six months—can you believe it’s been that long? We have been a couple of eager beavers waiting to open our shop back up... well the back of the shop, that is.

And I’m overjoyed to say, we’re open for business again!! It’s only been a few days, but lord, have we been busy, busy, busy. Of course, I’ve been nothing short of ecstatic to put my special scissors and thread back to use.

Why so busy, you might ask? Well, ‘tis the season—the season of self-transformation! Think about it, what’s the oldest cliché in the book about celebrating the new year? How many times have you heard the phrase “new year, new me!” or—I shudder at the thought—seen it hash tagged on social media?

Every year, we make promises to ourselves about how we are going to change, we make resolutions that we know won’t last. We want to start going to the gym, we want to learn a new language, we want to revamp ourselves with a new look. While I’m sure some of y’all make New Year’s resolutions and stick to them, I think we can all agree that the projections we make for ourselves, hungover in sweatpants while we eat Chinese takeout, don’t always pan out.

Here at Fran Hart’s Fabulous Frocks and Happy Haberdashery, things are a bit different. I deal in transformations all year ‘round.

For those of you just joining us, I’ll give you a quick rundown of what I do. I’m the seamstress at your everyday, ordinary, run-of-the-mill boutique, but this business serves as a front for my true passion. It’s another craft entirely, one that allows certain customers to walk in and walk out with an entirely new identity, an entirely new look selected by me.

I’m ready to share a new set of stories with y’all, and I hope you’re ready to hear them. Just as before, I’m hand-selecting the most chilling encounters… ones that even put me on edge just hearing them.

We’ll start with the first fitting since reopening, a fitting—ha!—tale of how a customer transformed her entire self and her entire life before she even walked through my door. When the customer in question entered my shop that first evening, my spidey-senses were going off immediately. She came in with a black baseball cap an

How Is One Piece As Good As It Is? -a One Piece study I've been working on for the last 5 months-

(here's a writeup about the nitty gritty of what makes One Piece so different from (and better than tbh everything else out there, and exploring Oda's approach in a definitive way. I'm adding the medium link as well if you prefer to read it there, as it's a little bit more easier on the eyes and it actually fits there as just one post unlike reddit:) How is One Piece The Best Thing There Is?)

https://preview.redd.it/r5g8szn1dj661.jpg?width=1624&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b0456ddb6dc09958c09ed671ccfe7425ca75253

One Piece. It’s the best. It just is. There isn’t any piece of fiction that’s been more impressive than One Piece in the history of the world, and if you think there is one, you’re just wrong. Am I trolling a bit? Yes. Am I exaggerating at all? No.

One Piece is the odyssey of our times. A series of countless drawings, with each one serving 10 purposes at once, juggling an absurd amount of plot lines and preserving an impossible balance in the services of its goals that it never loses sight of for 25 years, and culminating them into constant, exhilarating peaks. Not to mention that all of this is achieved in one of the most overproduced and limiting mediums: comic books that are supposed to target 14-year-old Japanese boys; the shounen manga. A space with millions of rules on how you can do things. Imagine writing a chapter a week of the same novel for 25 years without looking back, and then publishing the first draft. Imagine that draft being any good. And imagine it being the best thing that ever was. The famous Hemingway quote on writing -“The first draft of anything is shit.”- obviously doesn’t apply to One Piece.

But just how? What could be the process of creating something like this? One Piece, to me, is the single biggest achievement by an auteur, and the question burning in my mind for the longest time was how it is even possible for one human to create something like this. Surely, we can just say the guy -Eiichiro Oda- is just that good. It comes naturally to him, he just writes and draws, and this is what comes out. He is “GODA”, as his fans put it, after all. But, as even a little bit of closer inspection would make it obvious, this thing is methodical as fuck. One Piece is tirelessly engineered with a complexity that would scare some hard-ass scientists away. It’s something that’s planned with pee

My First Bingo Card + Quick Thoughts on My Bingo Reads

I found r/fantasy around the time bingo started last year and decided I would go for it. I had a lot of fun with it, and am eagerly looking forward to the start of 2021's bingo. Here are my quick thoughts on each of my bingo reads.

· Translated: The Carpet Makers by Andreas Eshbach; 4/5

o This book is formatted as interconnected short stories that come together to form a bigger picture and solve the mystery of what is happening in the empire. As such, I enjoyed some chapters more than others, but when looking back, each chapter is a puzzle piece to the complete story. It was really well done; not only a unique story, but also a unique way to tell it. Also counts for exploration.

· Snow, Ice, Cold: First Lord’s Fury by Jim Butcher; 3.5/5

o I read this in April and am writing this in November, so my memories are a little weak. Too much action and not enough character growth and interactions for my taste. Enjoyed the series overall, but books 2 and 3 were definitely the peak for me. Also counts for politics.

· Optimistic: Sourdough by Robin Sloan (hard); 1/5

o I think Robin Sloan is just not for me. I didn’t really enjoy Mr. Penumbra when I read it a few years ago either. I listened to the audiobook for this, and if I hadn’t wanted to use it for bingo, I think I would have DNFed it. I don’t normally mind slower books or slice of life, but I just didn’t care about the bread, and the ending was just too absurd for me.

· Necromancy: Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia; 2.5/5

o Again, I think this might be a case of not for me. I liked the story, but did not like the format in which it was told. It was too straightforward and formulaic. I never felt any real tension as they went from place to place and immediately accomplished each of their goals. I also never connected with or felt any real emotion from the characters. I’ve read that this may be intentional as it’s written as a folk tale, and these are common characteristics of those. That makes me appreciate it a little more, but I still wanted more from it. Also counts for ghost, color in the title (hard), and Canadian author.

· Ace/Aro: Beneath the Citadel by Destiny Soria (hard); 4/5

o I had never heard of this YA book, but came across it on a website that listed ace/aro books. There are five main points of view, and one of them is an ace teenage girl. I thought the world building was unique, the characters

Forty Fatal Folk Tales: Fables 1 - 10

Forty Fatal Folk Tales: Fables 11 - 20

Forty Fatal Folk Tales: Fables 21 - 30

Today is my fortieth birthday.

Today is also, if you believe the things just explained to me by the humongous spider creature and my dead parents and grandpa, the day I'm destined to die.

Let's back up slightly.

The ghost (if that's even what they were) of my mother reached across the kitchen table and lightly squeezed my hand.

"I know it's a lot to process, honey," she said softly, eyes meeting mine for only a moment before turning away.

A sardonic laugh escaped from my throat before I could stifle it. "Yeah, I'd say that's about the understatement of the year." My eyes suddenly watered. "You all died, mom, you've been gone for weeks and I've been all alone, and now there's this fucked up spider monster here who's apparently been watching me since I was a kid, and grandpa was a wizard or something and his best friend was like Professor Snape, and they wrote this book of demon curses that I'm being forced to read and it cut me when I tried to stop reading, and I jus—I just want everything to go back to normal."

My father let out a sigh from the seat next to me. "Francis, please try to understand, we're all here now so we can help you. We know things are confusing and frightening, and there's a lot more information coming up that you'll need to digest before we can even get into the backstory of things—"

"Stop, David. Let me." My grandfather's voice rang out from the head of the table. "This is all my fault, and I'm the one who needs to fix it."

I looked up, a barely contained well of tears still glistening in my eyes. My grandpa smiled faintly, and my mind raced through decades of memories with him. My senses were overwhelmed with the scent of his aftershave, the feel of the soft, worn patches on the elbows of his coats, the sound of his hearty laughter booming all around me as I told him another silly joke.

Surely I must be safe if my grandpa was here to help, right?

The hairs standing up on the back of my neck weren't as certain.

He continued. "There is a way out of the path that Pat set for you. The rest of us weren't able to avoid the pendulum of Fate swinging our way, but you still can. Most of my own meager abilities have been long since lost to time, but I've been able to use some of it to help influence Pat's writings,

Somebody tried to kill me when I was young. A monster saved my life.

I developed a drug addiction in my teens. It tore me apart for a long time, but it was nothing compared to the events that sparked it.

I know. We’ve all struggled. Get over it. That’s what my dad would say, the son of a bitch. My mom would probably feign empathy, but fuck it up by trying a little too hard. Then she’d drink herself to sleep.

This isn’t a story about my dad and my mom though. This isn’t even a story about my addiction. This is a story about a monster, and the scars they left upon my life. It’s a story about the end of my world, and it might be a story about the end of yours too.

It began when I was eight.

Third grade, for me, was not a pleasant time. Sure, there are bright spots in the year. There always are. Overall though, I rate third grade a 1/10, and that’s probably being generous.

You may have surmised that my mother and father were not exactly great role models in my life. My dad was cold and, in retrospect, probably a sociopath, or at least a narcissist. He rarely spent time with me and when he did I could tell he regretted it. Usually he did his best to forget I existed.

My mother was kinder. Sometimes she’d help me with my homework, and she’d always drive me to school. When she dropped me off, she’d wave goodbye with a smile and as if reading from a script, tell me she loved me and hoped I had a good day. I liked my mom. Sometimes, I think I even loved her.

At least, when she wasn't drinking.

Her vice made sense in retrospect, given the man she decided to shore up with, but what didn’t make sense, especially to eight-year-old me, were the relentless insults she’d throw my way. “Lazy. Waste of space. Brat. Dumbass.” These were all mainstays of her vocabulary, and never far from her lips once they’d been soaked with wine.

My only reprieve from the depression of my home life was school. Growing up, I loved everything about it. I loved hanging out with my friends, I loved learning new subjects, and I especially loved the teachers who always had time for me, and never drank and always remembered my name.

One of those teachers was Mr Gilad. A boisterous, heavy-set man with bushy eyebrows and an uncanny ability to always brighten the room. He wasn’t my teacher, but he was my best friend Oscar’s, and because of that I often crossed paths with him.

He remembered my name the first time I ever told it to him. Every day after that, he’d greet me with his beaming smile and booming voice. “Walter! How was class today?”

I became the most powerful entity in the universe. What could go wrong? | Chapter 5

Start from Chapter 1 | Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

Chapter 5 - That's not possible

The unexpected sight disturbed the hundreds of men and women around us. I saw parents shielding and averting their children’s eyes from the scene, while they themselves were unable to look away. Gasps and whispers were loud enough to be noises. The city guards were pushing past the crowd to make it to the scene. The man who performed the voluntary murder stood before Devon’s body, trying to hiding the sexual pleasure he received from it.

Amidst that relaxed chaos, Edith and I were the only ones who were in a completely normal state of mind. Although I did have a burning desire to inflict intolerable amounts of pain on that horny mage for decapitating my companion, I had enough self-control to not act on it yet. If we killed him right after this incident, anyone with average IQ can connect the two matters.

Anyway, back to the show, which is not over yet. The interesting detail that most people missed was the blood that was still pouring from Devon’s neck, which means that his heart was still pumping blood. Then again, nobody needed to notice this detail, because just as the city guards reached the stage, Devon’s decapitated head started rolling on the floor unnaturally. It wouldn't be accurate to say that the head was moving towards the body, rather the body and head were being pulled together; the body being more massive, only the head moved.

At this point, there was only silence as the crowd noticed and watched the creepy scene. Blood smeared onto the clothes as the head overcame momentum, air resistance, and not to mention common sense, to park itself where it belonged. Some part of me worried that Devon may not survive a clean decapitation, but the immortality skill was broken beyond acceptability.

The nerves reattached, the bones mended, and the spine connected. The man who was definitely dead in the eyes of over 600 people lifted himself from the floor that was slippery from his own blood. Aside from the head literally rolling on the floor back to his body, his skin repairing itself was also kind of creepy. “Harh...” Devon tried to speak, but he couldn’t effectiv

Reported Silver EFPs do not square with reality

I do not pretend to understand how the Comex gets off the hook for settlement obligations by the issuance of EFPs. Nor do I comprehend how the participants in this shell game allow it to continue without protest. Something is wrong and it does not appear that anyone has come forward to demand further enquiry.

If we accept the premise that a certain tonnage of silver is available for sale at Comex, and that paper contracts are bought and sold with leverage to the potential transaction, I am okay with this. Now consider that the vast majority of these contracts are traded with no intention to purchase any metal, from sellers that do not (and cannot) deliver any metal. This is where it starts going off the rails. Why even state that they are contracts if one counterparty can say 'we are not actually going to deliver anything'? Why are these pretend notes used to price a scarce and valuable commodity in the first place?

So these promises are bought and sold back and forth in trading volume of hundreds of thousands per day, representing more silver in a day of trading than the entire world can produce in a year. And at the end of this process a settlement is arranged where a handful of contracts end with transfer of ownership of bullion. And the vast majority of settlement obligations end with a cash payment. But a significant portion of these deals are closed through an EFP transaction.

Now the first question that comes to mind, if I was willing to plunk some $150,000 or more down to gain ownership of 5000 ounces of silver bullion - why in the actual fuck would I accept a piece of paper that says I now own that metal stacked in another country where I cannot access it? Who really believes that is just fine for most market participants? Even the really clueless dopes that still somehow trust the system despite report after report of massive fraud in every corner of this market?

But it gets even more bizarre. See, the volume of 'settlements' for this silver bullion is virtually impossible to account by bullion inventory. Harvey Organ has published analysis based on cumulative reporting of these EFP transactions by Comex over the years. I just present this one quote from 2018 as an example:

[https://www.silverdoctors.com/gold/gold-news/harvey-organ-theres-only-one-reason-the-silver-price-is-so-low-despite-huge-demand/](https://www.silverdoctors.com/gold/gold-news/harvey-organ-theres-only-one-reason-the-silver-price-is-so-low-despite-huge-dema

Hey! All of the prices are OBO, so feel free to make an offer, especially if you're interested in multiple games. Shipping'll depend on the weight of everything you're interested in, but on average it'll be between $3 and $5. Shipping isn't included in the prices below unless explicitly stated as "$price shipped." I'm happy to ship internationally, in which case shipping costs would be determined on a case by case basis. I’ll take photos for you upon interest of games.

For the shells, interested in anything authentic and not cracked! I don’t mind scratches, and the more shells you have, the merrier. I may be interesting in non-authentic, but I'd strongly prefer for those to be in very good condition.

I read & rate the adventures so you don't have to! (xpost r/DND)

I've discovered the first black dwarf star...(Part 1)

Part 2

One of the most universal experiences within humanity are the moments spent gazing into the cosmic time map of the stars.

Came Across A EP In This Entitled People Reddit. Rants About A simple Grammar Error I Made. Seems To Think All Disabilities Are The Same. This Great Community Fights Back.

So everything will be a copy and paste of what was said. A Reddit user went on a rant about a simple grammar error I made. But all you great people and I fight back. Thank you all. Had they been more respectful in their first comment, things would have transpired much differently.

One of the first things in learning a language is figuring out plural vs singular. Женщины vs женщиа. Its not obscure or accidental, particularly in one's own native language.

I lived in a haunted apartment for 14 years

As the title says, I lived in an apartment with at least one ghost in it for 14 years. I still don't know exactly what it was, but I'm fairly certain it wasn't my guardian angel. Since I've lived there for most of my life, from age 7 to 21, I have a lot of experiences to share, and because of this I'll only share the big ones for this post. The apartment was fairly small: a small entrance area, 1 bathroom, 1 kitchen, 1 living room, and 1 bedroom, and a small hallway that connected the living room and bedroom with a closet in it. My mother, sister and I lived there and we all shared the bedroom and had our own beds. Most of these happened while I was home alone (because why wouldn't they).

I was 7 years old the first time I encountered it, and I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was up early for school at 6am, got dressed, and decided to take a quick nap on the living room couch before I left. I layed on the couch, my back facing out to the living room, and fell asleep. I woke up and rolled over to face out towards the living room, sat up, stretched and yawned, then opened my eyes to look at the clock: 6:42am. I then looked towards the doorway leading into the kitchen, and the entire world stopped for me. In the doorway was the silhouette of a man. He, or rather it, was as tall as the doorway, and was the deepest and most pure black I've ever seen. He stared at me with glowing red eyes, his gaze full of hate and malice. You may think being "paralyzed with fear" is just just a horror trope, but it is a very real experience. I couldn't move or breathe; I wanted to scream but I couldn't; I couldn't even form tears. I was staring into his eyes and him into mine, and we kept this gaze for what felt like hours, but in reality it must've been a few seconds. I managed to blink, and just like that he was gone. Every conceivable emotion after seeing that came flooding in all at once, I didn't know what that was but I knew I needed to get out. Of course, I had to run through that exact doorway to leave, but I sprinted through it, down the stairs, and out of the building. I remember getting in trouble that day cause I left my bag, and no one believed me when I told them what happened. My family didn't believe me, and after a few more happenings, they said to stop talking about it because it wasn't real.

My next experience happened in 5th grade, so I was about 11. This one happened in the bedroom. My bed was positioned so that you could see most of it while i

As for other game console parts, I’m potentially interested in anything working/in good condition. In particular, I need a new Xbox 360 disc drive, so lmk if you have one for trade.

I'm also looking for a Pokemon Pinball (GBC) manual, Pokemon Pearl Manual and inserts, and Pokemon Platinum Manual and inserts in good condition!

Feel free to make me a trade offer of pretty much anything, I’m mainly interested in what I’ve listed above but I’m open to hearing other offers too.

I may have accidentally forgotten to denote some CIB games missing manuals and to denote some red label games as being red label, but if you express interest I’ll check and take pictures and let you know.
