From time to time I receive comments on the Slip Knot from people who mistaken the Slip Knot for the Noose Knot (or vice versa). It's true they have similar structure but their function is different. Here's a look at the Slip knot vs the Noose knot. youtu.be/uh_uQurwE2E

I tried my hand ad slip knots for the edges, I also wondered what I could make with this tile, so I chose a bow, which required attempting a magic circle? Im HORRIBLE at that circle but I attempted it without a lesson first, so hopefully I can do it with some guidance. I love this, so much ❀️ reddit.com/gallery/kh7opo

Nail Knot - standalone non-slip main line loop

Hi All, the Nail Knot is a very popular and versatile knot which works with all types of line, as you know. If you double the line before tying a standard Nail Knot, you will end up with a non-slip loop. This type of loop is alluded to in descriptions of the Nail Knot, but seldom listed in anthologies of loop knots.

I am interested to know whether any of you have used it as a regular loop knot? I use a fine braid super line and am thinking that with 12-15 double line wraps, this knot could provide a strong end loop.

Is there a type of slip knot that can be used to get a stripped bolt out?

Okay, so I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I have totally stripped a bolt head that I have to get out. It is connected to a sacrificial rod in my water heater, and my options are get it out or buy a new water heater for my house. Clearance isn’t great around it so I can’t really use tools effectively, but I was thinking about trying to use a thin, strong string or rope to tie a type of slip knot that grabs tighter as it goes under tension and will be able to spin the bolt head. Any thoughts??

A new style I invented a few years ago. I turn wood rings and slip them onto doubled up rectangular cloth, instead of using knots, for bow ties. I see up elastic tie bands that go under the wood, behind the collar and around the neck. This one is spalted maple on the ends with a Wenge center.
