Like an old bookstore with old and used books, is there anywhere in Vancouver to browse for old music books and stuff?
Any help would be really appreciated!
Ever since I was little, I have loved the movie, Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium. It's about an old man and a young lady. This mans toy store, is magic. So magic. But... As all do, he dies, and the magic begins to fade. The walls lose colour and the toys do too. The young lady does not believe she can bring it back, but through her love for the store and the loving memories of our old man, Magorium, she does.
The score is beautiful.
Before he dies, there is a scene with the score called 'The Flight of Magorium,' I hope the clip sparks your heart, and I hope you can find sheet music for this score, because I can not.
Reddit. This reminds me of my grandad. This reminds me of my childhood, and even though I can't play a lick of piano or anything besides a snare drum or a kazoo... I want this music. I want to save it. I want it at my wedding, or at any major event in my life. I want it as my funeral song. Just playing it to upload the link literally made tears fall, and I had to seek out my mum to give her a big cuddle.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoBLFjCA-XI The scene. Please watch it and share my compassion.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyC0YP_okQM Clear score, no dialogue from Magorium, no paper noise. Please, please find this.
To try and spark this compassion still... Here are a few quotes from this movie.
"When King Lear dies in Act V, do you know what Shakespeare has written? He's written, "He dies." That's all, nothing more. No fanfare, no metaphor, no brilliant final words. The culmination of the most influential work of dramatic literature is "He dies." It takes Shakespeare, a genius, to come up with "He dies." And yet every time I read those two words, I find myself overwhelmed with dysphoria. And I know it's only natural to be sad, but not because of the words "He dies." but because of the life we saw prior to the words."
βYou see these shoes? I found them in a little shop in Tuscany and fell in love with them so entirely I bought enough to last my whole life!β βThese are my last pair.β
"Life is an occasion. Rise to it."
Is there a way to illustrate a "Cadence" as per the musical term?
My Daughters name is Cadence, I want to get a tattoo in relation to her name, but not just the letters of her name.
Thanks a bunch
Just as the title says im look for a good place to find sheet music for bass lines and maybe guitar parts as well. I find alot of piano and vocal sheet music but never any bass sheet music. Im looking for something cheap ( I really dont see the need in buying complete orchestra parts for just a bass line). So if you fellow bass players have any suggesting that would be great!! Cheers!
While here I might as well mention that I'm actually looking for this song [Airmail special] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVWYmMMISQA) for a show coming up. (It would probably take me a life time to learn this song by ear). Thanks for all the help!!!
I know there are other posts with sheet music for the song, "Let it Go" but I was wondering if anyone had a music box one in particular.
I bought a Music Box Kit (http://www.amazon.com/Kikkerland-Make-Your-Own-Music/dp/B000HAUEFY) and am trying to punch in the song "Let it Go" but can't find sheet music that will work.
The song must be in C-Major. I was wondering if anyone could help me find a version I could use, or help me transpose an existing version?
Iβm a multi-instrumentalist with loads of free time on my hands. If thereβs any music you want to learn but canβt find the sheet music music or guitar tab (or even if itβs a song you wrote yourself) I can learn it by ear and write it out for you.
I work in guitarpro and sibelius so I can offer you the project files as well as an ordinary PDF. If you want sheet music transferred to guitar tab or guitar tab transferred to a guitarpro file I can do that for you. If you want multiple instruments transcribed for one song I can do that as well, Iβve done many full arrangements for people.
Here are my estimated prices per minute of music per instrument:
$5 for under 1 minute of music
$10 for 1-3 minutes
$15 for 5 minutes
Send me a DM with a link to your music and Iβll be able to tell you how much itβll cost.

I am a harp teacher and have a student who is interested in New Age music (in addition to interests in Wiccan music and renaissance music). I am looking primarily for harpists who have sheet music/music books of new age harp music or something similar that I could adapt to harp. Also, if thereβs any new age harpists youβd recommend for me to check out, audio links are definitely welcome too. Iβm already familiar with Andreas Vollenweider, heβs great!
UPDATE: PLEASE REFER TO THE NEWER 2014 ULTIMATE CHRISTMAS SHEET MUSIC COLLECTION FOR MORE SELECTIONS AND FIXED LINKS!
Hey everyone, OnaZ and I realized that we should have a post like last year's for gathering a whole bunch of Christmas/Holiday/Wintry piano sheet music together in one place.
I'm too busy to scour the interwebs again this year for music, so this is mostly a copy & paste from last year's 2012 Ultimate Christmas Music Collection post, just with some cleaning up and fixing broken links.
We've got beginner to intermediate to advanced; traditional, contemporary, holiday classics, pop, jazz, and even classical. Most of it's free, but there are a few $2-$5 sheets that are worth it as well. Hopefully there's something for everyone here to learn over the holidays for your own enjoyment, for impressing family & friends, and for sharing with the /r/piano community!
Please post any other favourite arrangements you know of in the comments -- This is a list-in-progress!
The List:
Traditional - Beginner
A whole bunch of free Beginner/Intermediate Christmas sheet music links are compiled here:

I recently began teaching myself how to play piano. I've had years of exposure to sheet music (musical theatre) and I know how to read music (albeit slowly) and play out my melody lines. I also come from a background of guitar, where I mastered chords but never really got the hang of scales.
My knowledge of chords and basic music theory translated pretty quickly to piano chords and I think I've got the hang of the whole chord thing, and for the most part, I can play songs that I know from guitar on the piano and it sounds reasonably good (I haven't quite figured out the tempo and stuff either).
At any rate, I feel like I need to get the hang of playing actual notes rather than straight-up chords, and I have some fake books and easy piano books of Disney and some of my favorite artists that I've been messing around with. It's really, really slow.
I guess my question is this: is it just a matter of repetition and practice, or is there a technique to picking up sheet music on piano that can make my life easier?
tl;dr: best way to learn to read sheet music and play it on the piano.

Something I put together to help myself learn the upper position notes (up to the 12th fret). Thought others might find this useful.
Edit: Someone commented that they prefer octaves to be separated by C instead of E. If you fall into that camp, here is an alternate version: https://imgur.com/mQqTzdB
What's up Reddit, I'm back again! I hope you all are doing fine. My name is Matheus and I'm a pianist/music transcriber. I've been transcribing music for many years, working with music for piano, guitar, bass, voice, trumpet, violin and many other instruments. My experience allows me to offer you good quality transcriptions as acurrate as it can be, so you can enjoy playing that song you always wanted to but never found sheets!
My transcriptions are all made by ear, using only as an aid a software to slow down and change pitches, plus the notation software, which means I sit down and listen carefully to your piece to figure out every chord/note out of it, avoiding any automated progam that can lead to mistakes. Here are some examples of my work:
-My transcription 5 (Musescore)
If needed, you can ask me other examples of something specific, it will be a pleasure.
I can deliver to you the piece of music in many formats, such as a PDF, MIDI, XML, Synthesia video, MP3 or the original sheet music editor file, from Finale or MuseScore. Other formats also may be avaliable if you need something specific.
My price is $5 USD per minute of music for monophonic instruments (Like Flute, Trumpet, bass...) and $10 USD per minute of music for polyphonic instruments (Like piano, Organ...). My main payment method is through PayPal, but I'm open to discuss other options and always happy to chat with you about any concerns/doubts you may have.
Hello! I am picking trumpet back up. I played it in high school and stopped, over 10 years ago. Iβm trying to get back into it, but Iβm actually finding it hard to find dumps of intermediate level sheet music. Is it expected to pay for each sheet of music? Iβve been playing Moon River for 5 days now, send help.
I'm looking for something like a pdf file that has sheet music for alle the scales. I currently practice scales like d, g, a, e, and c major, because those are the ones I know how to do. I don't really know how to do the other ones. Like, I can do them on the piano, but if I have to translate that to cello I find that quite difficult to do that from memory. So some scales in sheet music would be very helpful!
So I know many of you probably play guitar, and you might also be an Erra fan. For the longest time it has been my goal to learn Erra's song Expiate.
Not sure if anyone else will be as excited as I am for this but thought it might be worth a share.
When I start a new piece, I like to write in every single bow. I'm curious to hear your feedback on whether or not you do this, or if you think it's a bad idea - why. I do it because it allows me to drill into any section of the piece on a whim and practice the bowings correctly. It keeps me focused - I don't have to wonder if my bowings are correct so I can think about other things. And I like the constant dopamine rush of "yay! I'm doing it right!"
But with all the bowings written in, there's not much room for much else sometimes. I'm still relatively a beginner, my teachers may call me advanced but I don't believe it. So I write in every shift. Every finger. Every glissando. At least I would, if I had room for it.
So what I end up with is a very messy piece of music, that I gave up on part way thru because I couldn't stand it. The left hand work, writing in shifts, is difficult for me. I play thru enough to be satisfied, and stay frustrated with the rest. I justify it by saying that the bow is the hardest and most important part.
But I found a solution. Tracing paper. Tape one piece of tracing paper to each side of the sheet of music (this works for only one sheet of music at a time, but that's fine since we practice in chunks anyhow). The one on the left is for the left hand, and the one on the right is for the right hand. Fold the tracing paper over the sheet music and write in bowings and whatever notes are for the right hand. Fold the left side over to write all the notes for the left hand.
This allows me to focus on one hand at a time, have the bowings when I want them, but still have the ability to focus on the left hand without feeling overwhelmed.
Thanks for reading. I would be interested in all feedback, and what solutions you may have come up with. Is this a normal thing to struggle with?

If you could help me transpose, here are several different versions of the song's sheet music http://dropcanvas.com/01tt4

Hello everyone!
The holiday season is upon us, and so it's time once again to share all that great holiday music. I'm short on free time, so this is just a direct copypasta of the 2013 Ultimate Christmas Sheet Music Collection, which itself was mostly a copy of the 2012 one :). So why copy it all into a new post here instead of just linking to last year's? Well, this will allow you to add comments (last year's post is too old) and allow you to suggest new pieces that I can add to this new list.
As for the Piano Jam, again since I don't have time to select new pieces, THIS will constitute our Piano Jam #27 -- any piece below is fair game, as well as any of the 2-month pieces still in progress from the Piano Jam #26 - November (see that post if you're unsure of what the Piano Jam is all about).
So let's get to it... We've got all sorts of holiday music: beginner to intermediate to advanced; traditional, contemporary, holiday classics, pop, jazz, and even classical. Most of it's free, but there are a few $2-$5 sheets that are worth it as well. Hopefully there's something for everyone here to learn over the holidays for your own enjoyment, for impressing family & friends, and for sharing with the /r/piano community!
