Best stocks for the fourth industrial revolution

The Fourth Industrial Revolution is characterised by the fusion of the digital, biological, and physical worlds, as well as the growing utilisation of new technologies. It is the trend towards automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies and processes which include:

  • Cyber-physical systems (CPS) / Cyber security
  • Cloud Computing
  • Ai
  • Advanced Robotics / automation
  • Big-data
  • 3D printing
  • Quantum computing (hypothetically)
  • Robotic process automation (RPA)
  • Semi-conductors
  • Biotechnology / Healthcare
  • IoT manufacturing
  • Renewable energy
  • Manufacturing / Mining

Of course there's discussions which one are part of the industry 4.0 so I might be missing a few.

since I believe that we are still at the start of this revolution, I want to invest in promising companies related to those industries. Some companies already have proven themselves, others are still in the 'startup' fase.

Hereby a list of the companies from which I think are the best or will be the best in the corresponding sector. What sectors and which must-have companies am I missing?

Note: some sectors are very broad so they might overlap.

  • Cyber-physical systems (CPS) / Cyber security
    • CrowdStrike - $CRWD
      • Offers a broad spectrum of solutions with the main goal of cyber-security. Some well-known clients where they have solved hacks are Sony Pictures and the DNC (Democratic National Committee). The company is the market leader in the cloud-based endpoint security segment and is also expanding into 5G network security.
    • Cloudflare - $NET
      • Offers a wide range of network services to companies around the world. Cloudflare's intelligent global network spans more than 200 cities in more than 100 countries. It provides network security and improved network performance and reliability to an increasing proportion of the total Internet used. More than 15% of the internet is used via Cloudflare
    • BlackBerry - $BB
      • They are working on AI powered cybersecurity
      • They also work on QNX. QNX is a real-time embedded OS that controls software systems in (modern, especially EV) cars and forms the basis of solutions such as BlackBerry Radar, an IoT based asset tracking system for the transport sector.
      • Spark Suites: Spark provides visibility and protection for all endpoints, including personal laptops and smartphones used for work. It uses AI, machine learning, and automation to provide better cyberattack prevention.

My experience during TX water/power outage and what you can expect

Disclaimer: I am not an expert. All opinions expressed here should not be misconstrued as advice in any capacity, be it plumbing, purchasing emergency supplies, or otherwise. As always, do your own research and make your own decisions.

Alright, with that out of the way, strap in. It'll be a long ride. TL;DR with the main take-aways and recommendations at the bottom. I tried to make this post as complete and detailed as possible, without being preachy. Ignore it if anything comes across that way, it is NOT intentional.

Part 1: What happened in Texas

(play-by-play; skip to Part 2 if you only care about recommendations)

Inclement weather came in across the entire state. My family and I were in Austin, in central Texas. Things were normal and to my knowledge, no major warnings were issued by the city. A family friend who is always very cautious recommended I turn off the water to the house on Sunday night (Feb 14). I took his advice, filled up some pots and jugs for extra water and turned off the water supply at street level around 5pm, drained plumbing. Went to bed around 11 PM. Briefly woke up around 3-4 am as my face was freezing. I thought it was odd, I remember thinking "hmm maybe power went out" and went back to sleep. My wife and I use a super heavy "duck feather" blanket we got from Costco and turn the heat down anyways to save money.

Woke up around 8 to go to work; house was freezing, temp inside was around 56 F based on a thermometer/clock combo we had. All power was out. Outside everything was covered with snow, deep snow. It snowed once a few weeks before, which was unusual but it did not stick to roads. Now all roads were impassible and covered with snow and ice. I tried going online but internet was out due to the power outage. Cell reception was...not there. Could not load any web page to check what was going on. Sent out a text to my manager, it failed. Tried a few more times and it was finally sent out.

As the day went on, it was clear power wasn't coming back on and the house kept getting colder. I risked turning the water back on for a few hours, then turned it back off around 5pm again. Temperatures were below freezing the entire time. At some point I managed to load up Twitter and saw posts from Austin Energy about ERCOT asking them to shed load. Lots and LOTS of technical jargon and unclear messages. Absolutely no word on when anything may come back. We lit up some candles and had a "mandatory Valentine's candlelight dinner."

Yet another permanent onebag setup – Year 3 – The Covid Edition

What a year it’s been, huh? To go from freely traveling with complete agency to a global shutdown, it’s been a transformative year for our little community. I was happily traveling the Yucatan in the early parts of 2020, exploring cenotes and grutas, improving my Spanish, and eating very delicious foods. I'd hear lingering talks of some virus, but what did it matter? The news always goes on about something that has no direct influence on the day-to-day of most of our experiences. Surely this will be no different. Surely...

Due to covid's halting influence on the world, I [temporarily] abandoned my quasi-quest of visiting every Mexican state. I stayed 3 months with my parents in the Floridian suburbs where they chose to retire. It's a place I've never lived, I have no friends, no car to drive, and nowhere to go even if I did. It was... an adjustment to say the least.

I then spent 2 months on a road trip unlike any other with a longtime friend and artist. My friend was already creating temporary art installations out of US standard road signs and displaying them around Miami. When the Black Lives Matter protests kicked off in full swing, we decided we could support the protests, do the art, spend a lot of time camping in the isolated wilderness, and get covid tested a ton.

Then once that wrapped up, I had nowhere else to go. My parents, as thankful as I was for their generosity, wanted their space back. Without really knowing what I was doing, I booked a one-way ticket to Mexico City, a place I had lived for a few months a couple of years ago and therefore was relatively familiar with enough that I felt comfortable essentially laying low there until this whole pandemic thing blew over. And that's exactly what I did.

OK, so why all the backstory? This is a subreddit about what's in our bags after all, not r/travel or r/solotravel. Well, I've always felt that how we travel and what influences our travels directly influences and is influenced by what we carry. The bag informs the travels, the travels inform the bag. And, comparing to years one and two, it'll be obvious in a minute here to see how the external changes influence the internal changes of what I carry. I will try to take some time to compare what's new, what's been rep

I e-mailed over 100 politicians about the housing crisis, here is the letter and their responses.

As per the title, I wrote a letter expressing my concerns with the Canadian housing market, and sent it out to over 100 politicians across the country. The addressees were the leaders of every major federal and provincial party, as well as the relevant ministers and opposition critics, and the mayors of every major city in the country.

I sent the letter out in early February. Since then, I received only five real responses. The mayors of Montreal and Victoria wrote me back, as did the Green Party housing critic Tim Grant, and David Eby and Wab Kinew of the BC and Manitoba NDP parties respectively. The office of Jagmeet Singh responded with a canned email that discussed policy largely unrelated to the content of my email.

I will post each response I received as a separate comment. My original letter follows:

To the leaders of this federation,

There is significant anxiety regarding the future of this country that is growing in people of my generation, and it is becoming increasingly impossible to ignore.

I am an average citizen in my early thirties. I do not represent any special interest group, or hold political affiliation with any party. Due to my line of work, I have lived in multiple provinces, in cities of all sizes, and in rural, urban and suburban areas. I have spent time in almost every province and territory, and I work with, and consider friends, people of all ages and backgrounds from across the country.

It is my belief that the biggest reason for this anxiety is the obvious disparity of opportunity growing between the older and younger generations of Canadians. Younger Canadians are increasingly burdened with the reality that no matter how hard they work they will never attain the lifestyle that their parents enjoyed on their own merits alone. This is particularly apparent when you look at the state of Canada’s housing market.

*Adjusted for inflation, wages have been fairly stagnant over the past couple of decades. At the same time, the cost of living for the average Canadian has increased substantially. According to Statistics Canada, in 2000 the median household income was $58,300, and in 2018 (the last year of available Statistics Canada data) it was $69,600, an increase of 16%. In the same period rent has doubled in many markets and the median price of the average home has increased 257% from $163,951 in 2000 to $586,000 in 2020. The traditional financial advice that housing and related expenses should not exceed t

Of Dogs and crumbling Empires - Chapter 2

Chapter 1

Chapter 3

Chapter 4

The Empire had built some truly impressive stations during the course of its long existence. Marvels of technology and power, great hubs of commerce defended by awe-inspiring arrays of defensive systems, whose shipyards could assemble and maintain entire fleets in a matter of months.

Azore station was not among them. It was a backwater, run down, grimy network of habitats stubbornly clinging to the moon of a gas giant. Once, it had been the centre of a small scale mining operation, but time, the discovery of easier sources of helium in the neighbouring systems and the overall lack of manpower due to the losses of the war had forced it into insignificance, surviving only by servicing the few ships that occasionally passed through the system.

At least, that would have been the story that the ledgers sent to the Imperial bureaucracy told. A story that served Azore’s inhabitants well. Their insignificance meant that the Empire didn’t deem them worthy of a Governor, and was simply satisfied with sending a ship once a year to collect the meagre tributes the few existing services owed. Said tributes were infallibly delivered by curiously large and tough-looking individuals right on the docking bay, sparing the Imperial envoys from the hassle of actually having to enter the station. There was also no instance of piracy recorded anywhere in the system, an unusual fact that, nonetheless, meant that the Imperial Navy could deploy its resources in other, far more important sectors.

Far from the Empire’s prying eyes, Azore was thriving. A he walked through the labyrinthine corridors, Jonah crossed paths with individuals of every known species, and with a few that were so cybernetically enhanced that he couldn’t have guessed their race to save his life. They were pirates, mercenaries, smugglers and bounty hunters. Every single one of them was heavily armed and looked ready for a fight.

Every single one of them was very careful of not inconveniencing him in any way. In some rich and civilized systems, stories of the human exploits were scoffed at by well educated individuals as no more than exaggerations originated by popular works of fiction. Most of Azore’s residents, thou

$BB DD, NO MEEMS - PART 1

Dear WSB - While I hold nothing aginst $GME, $AMC etc. - and imma let you finish - but $BB is one of the most solid fundamental, growth plays in the entire stock market, let alone the current trending meme names.

Forget about squozes and voodoo ass candlesticks. #Ben Graham gang #. There was a great post re: the company's product line up here, make sure to check that out if you haven’t already.

My approach is to look at $BB from a strategic financial lens. First off, multiples off earnings are misleading, esp. w/ a company like BB where one-time and nonrecurring items are present and where there is a premium for growth vs. steady-state earnings. So as any Wall street spreadsheet monkey would do, I spread some comparables on earnings. Basically – How does the market value similar businesses? ?

No shit BB is not a phone company anymore. They are, if you’ve been paying any attention at all, an endpoint protection company. What is endpoint protection? Endpoints are basically computers, phones, but massively now also IoT – Your smart TV is an endpoint, so is your dumb refrigerator now that has to connect to wifi, and terrifyingly so is your car, your airplane, and stuff where if shit goes wrong the result is worse than not being able to double fist another helping of chocolate ice cream.

Almost every electronic device at this point that relies on internet access is an endpoint, with corresponding security challenges. So what does this mean? It means we can take a look at other endpoint protection / digital security companies, see how the market values them, and see what that implies for $BB based on its own revenue.

See below a quick spread. Based on the revenue multiples currently ascribed to comparables to Blackberry, Blackberry has a target price of at least $60 / share. And this is only if it is the average of its peers. I believe it is better for all the reasons previous posters have mentioned.

Long story short – Blackberry already has the infrastructure, moat, and products in place for growth. **IF MORE PEOPLE PERCEIVED BLACKBERRY AS WHAT IT IS TODAY - A FUTURE-FACING ENDPOINT PROTECTION BUSINESS WITH GIANT ASS MOATS IN FANTASTIC END MARKETS (E.G. If you are as confused as I was as to why the CIA paid top dollar for a professional dommy mommy to destroy my manhood and make me beg for the mercy I didn't deserve on a daily basis, it turns out that the 6 pairs of AOC's knee socks that "mysteriously arrived in the mail" at my house back in January contained microfilm with extremely sensitive information on them. These are stashed in a safe location and I am currently in contact with the other mods to secure transportation. We are going to attempt to recover the microfilm so that we can bring it to Q and finally topple this house of cards. I cannot be too careful, so I am routing my connection through 13 proxies and two layers of virtual machines, I will also be posting this from an Incognito tab, so do not bother trying to track me.

Overview

In this post I would like to share some of the projects that are being build on different cryptos. This kind of information helps me decide if I want to work with that crypto, as the technology blockchain and the respective implementation of each crypto discussed here is understandable high level but very complex under the hood. Actual projects that are used in real life can be a a good indicator I think to make a decision on it.

For the cryptos, there is a write up with a small description what the crypto is trying to offer, when it was released and where to find the whitepaper. This is followed by some projects found using the blockchain technology, with links to the website or news article(s). Let me know what you think of this approach in picking cryptos of interest!

Fabian tactics pt. II - Earth's last general

Fabian tactics pt I

Common Federation Era 197

Back at the company lines, the cadets had finally retired for the night. They had spent all day at lectures, PT and small arms training; they were physically and mentally fatigued . Even so, Cadet Berlin's section still had enough energy to spare, to roast her for her input in the morning's lecture.

“Classic Fabian Mao tactics straight from the Pam, every boot cadet knows this basic shit hey?” Cadet Kromigh, an Isae said, “Berlin you are the biggest fucking suckhole I have ever seen. I mean, I think he was sweet on you. Did you hear him? Ooooh, let's ask someone who knows, look at pretty little Cadet Berlin!”

“Kromigh... I just want you to know... It's not my fault you taste awful... But at least I'll eat MRE's before I eat you.” Miranda replied, grinning aggressively.

Everyone in their room laughed at that.

“Seriously,” Max Luther, another human began, “This isn't ancient history, and every human child gets brought up with the history of the Imperial insurrection. It's why humans have such a strong military culture.”

“And Isae don't? My pod leaders had me running survival drills for years before I even made it to adolescence.” Ralek said. His pod leaders had a proud tradition of being in the Naval artillery, though traditionally Isae were outstanding engineers. While he had still been in his first phase of education, he was simultaneously taught basic tracking principles and marksmanship. He hadn't been the only one.

“It's not the same bro. When was the last time the Isae fought a war of defense. A war for themselves? Five, six thousand years ago?” Miranda said. “Six thousand years ago we didn't even have steel. But two hundred years ago? We have video of how it started. And how it ended.”

The two Kelress' ears simultaneosly perked up at that.

“What do you mean?” Hugo, the male, asked.

“I mean we kept the... Well we just call it Earth's last General... The Emperor intended it to be propaganda, which is exactly how we use it. His problem was that he didn't understand our psychology. Instead of terrifying us into submission it completely hardened us. We also have the helmet footage of the Imperial negotiation and execution. You can find it on the nets, if you want to see, and you know what to look for.”

“No shit. Show us.” The Kelress both crowded the humans.

“Naw man We'll show you later, it's getting late.”

[Conflict] Arise, You Mighty Motherland. Arise for Sacred War.

##Arise, You Mighty Motherland. Arise for Sacred War.

###The Preparations

Calling up a large number of troops is unfortunately quite hard to hide, which is why we won't bother trying to hide it at all. Quite public notifications will be made that a large scale callup of forces is required for a parade to celebrate August 1st. Full preparations standard for a parade will be undertaken to maintain the cover while our forces prepare for the actual operations. This should obfuscate the true intentions of the callup for long enough to achieve a moderate degree of Strategic surprise(not to mention in the past several years equally large formations have been called up for major exercises somewhat suddenly so it shouldn't look too strange)

###Cyberwarfare

Cyber Warfare operations will be timed to begin at the same time as the initial strike, and will focus on degrading all aspects of Taiwanese Internet ideally achieving the vaunted total shutdown of the Taiwanese internet. Further efforts will be made to target the Taiwanese military communication network which likely has backup systems run through its civil systems(although this civil system probably won't exist very long)

###First Strike

Following the initial wave of cyber operations, the PLAAF and the PLARF will launch a highly coordinated surprise first strike on important ROC targets. This first strike will be launched in the evening timed to arrive following the conclusion of a shift change to minimize troops located at the targets and maximize the time the facilities are out of action.

H-20 bombers will launch the first wave of strikes aimed at the following installations

  • Taiwanese PAVE PAWS site
  • Ministry of Defence building
  • Heng Shan Military Command Center(targeted with ultra heavy bunker busting bombs aimed at entrances.)
  • Any other Strategic CIC or Warning systems

Timed to arrive at the same time will be a first strike of Cruise missiles launched from our ground systems. These missiles will target all Taiwanese armed forces bases, command centers, power plants(specifically the transformers), and highway strips designed or capable of supporting fighter operations. 960 Missiles will be allocated for this strike.

Following this will be the ballistic missile strike that will be timed to impact 5-10 minutes after the cruise missiles(or roughly when repair operations should begin). This strike will be targeted on the sites identified earlier, along with any locations that PLA recon a

First Contact - Third Wave - Chapter 407

[first] [prev] [next]

The sound of the cutting bars was loud, the city hushed even as it wailed in pain. Each time the powered cutting bars (Mark II) ripped through the tree rapidly, felling it. Mal-Kar and Karelesh used cutting bars given to them by a Terran to cut the trees into smaller lengths. Lu'ucilu'u and I used stick-on graviton lifters and a tractor-pressor beam to move the logs to the sides of my tank, the sides of the two buses, the sides of the combat grav-lifters. There other members of my work crew tied them to the sides with heavy cargo straps.

Several of the civilians manning "Refit Point Delta" were filling sandbags, working tirelessly to shovel dirt into sacks that they tied off and stacked. The sandbags were passed from person to person in a living chain, to be put upon the vehicles as one more layer of armor. They were stacked on the sides of grav-lifters, my tank, and secured with endosteel cargo netting. They were layered two layers thick inside the hoverbuses, with panels of endosteel plating in between the two layers.

Which was why both buses had Terran grav-lifters welded to the side to help lift the massive public transports.

A white flash made everything go flat seeming as the shadows vanished. The rumble came next, the shockwave moving the trees back and forth.

ATOMIC ATOMIC ATOMIC flashed in my vision right before another white flash lit the sky.

The civilians and what few military I had with me ignored it, continuing their work.

A N'Kar who had been a servant for a Most High was half out from under hover-fan three's skirt. Cables went from the power plugin on a nearby grav-lifter and vanished under my tank, allowing the N'Kar to weld a patch to the hoverfan skirt to fix a hole blown in it by Precursor fire.

I leaned forward and rested my head against the battlesteel of my tank, closing my eyes and feeling exhaustion fill me.

I had been awake for twenty hours since I had left the medical clinic and led my men into the burning city again.

Twenty more hours in the burning hellscape that had been a living city.

There is a secret Mars Biome. They discovered a new form of Death.

By the time we had arrived at the crash site, little was left of the capsule save for the radiation.

All of us were ordered to wear our protective suits as we appraised the crater. I had never seen this sort of destruction on the ocean floor before. It was as though the pod had caused a rupture in the environment itself, killing all life around it and leaving nothing but a black hole. Everything about the site told me that this was an omen of dark times.

Circumstances didn’t allow for me to wonder what had happened here, as I knew that several other international agencies were already searching for the remaining cargo. This was a momentous discovery, regardless of how tragic it was that the crash had caused so much damage. Despite my misgivings and fears I had to push forward.

Pushing the rover deeper, I maneuvered the arms on either side to unlatch the cargo hold of the pod, giving clear access to my deep sea camera.

We could make out five large steel crates that would change our scientific understanding of the Red Planet forever.

“All right. Get them up to the surface ASAP. We’ve got the helicopters ready,” a voice said over my comm. That was my supervisor Paul Baker; reminding me again this was no time for sentimentality. Work still needed to be done.

Using the rover’s claw like arms, I maneuvered my own undersea drone to grab ahold of one crate and pulled it out, a rush of air and bubbles releasing pressure.

It still felt unreal to recognize that what I was holding did not come from our Mother Earth.

Pushing the engines into reverse, I pulled away from the murky depths to reach our transport above. It was time to make history. For history to decide what our role would be.

3 hours and 3,000 miles later, we were back at the Hive. To describe it would be nearly impossible to the uneducated person, but it is both a technological masterpiece and a thing of beauty all at once.

It’s official name is the Mars Terrestrial Habitation Biome number 4. But my good friend, and occasional romantic partner Doctor Anna White coined the term Hive last spring and the name has stuck ever since.

She was there waiting for me when we returned with the cargo, fully suited up and read to take it into the facility. Security was on high alert. No one knew for sure what had caused the capsule to break and we still hadn’t heard from the Akeley II, the Mars side of our project; since the incident began. Your 13-minute Weekend-Monday report in 3328 words.

##Artsakh will have aviation lab to teach drone production / education reforms

Education Minister Lusine Gharakhanyan: The current educational policy in Artsakh must take into account the existing challenges.

One of the priorities is the program of introduction of security systems in schools and kindergartens. We're drafting the plan.

We'll develop TUMO and IT in Artsakh. Soon, we will install TUMO Boxes in Martuni, Martakert, and Askeran cities to serve 320 students.

We want to expand the ArMath engineering and robotics program by building 12 new labs this year. 10 out of 30 labs were lost during the war.

We want to create a technopark in the educational system of Artsakh. In April of this year, we will open a drone workshop in Stepanakert School N3, which will be an educational aviation laboratory.

Question: which Artsakh settlements have resumed education in schools?

Minister: with the exception of Szneq (Askeran), Sus (Qashatagh), and Hin Shen (Shushi), every school has resumed its activities. There are 18.6K students, compared to 23.9K before the war. The other 5.8K continue their education in Armenia.

Question: have you helped teachers who lost their jobs as a result of war?

We have registered 280 teachers from areas that are no longer under Artsakh's control. We helped 58 of them to find a job. We will have a new initiative soon to help others. We're working with Armenia's EduMin.

##Saturday marked Artsakh Movement's 33rd anniversary

Artsakh President Arayik: February 20, 1988, entered our history as a symbol of the revival of the national spirit, strong unity, and unbreakable will. A beginning of a whole period of struggle, reconstruction, and creation, loss and victory.

33 years have passed since that day. Today, the Armenians of Artsakh are living through one of the most difficult periods in their history. They live, keeping alive the spirit and ideas of 1988, confident and asserted that the path they have chosen is right and irreversible. More than ever, today they must live and prosper on their native land.

And for the sake of our martyrs and generations, Artsakh will be reborn again, will rise from the ruins, and will continue its eternal course.

Author’s Note: Welcome back to part four of the “I’m A Monster” series, if you haven’t listened and or read the first three chapters. They are listed below. (Also surprise! It’s a couple days early!)

Part One: I’m A Monster Created By The Government To Hunt Other Monsters.

Part Two: I’m A Monster Protecting Humanity, Things Are Getting Dangerous For Me…

Part Three: I’m A Monster Who Used To Hunt Other Monsters For The Government.

Doctor John and I had come across an abandoned cabin ten miles deep into the forest, it was evident to both of us that we would be staying there for the time being. It was also more than likely that us killing the avian creature had attracted the attention of other cryptids, and, they would soon be there to clean up what was left.

Dusk was approaching, the shadows of the trees were growing stronger. We needed to be efficient, I’ve stated in the past that I wasn’t keen on the idea of bringing others with me. But John was intelligent and much more of an asset than a liability.

I slowly approached the steps of the front deck to the cabin, crawling across the ground on all fours. Doctor John was close behind, putting in an effort to be as quiet as possible.

The cabin itself was in decent but not pristine shape. There was rotting spots in the wood, the steps to the deck were dented. The front left window had a crack running up the middle, vegetation was beginning to grow its way up the sides of the foundation.

I sniffed the air, seeing if I could pick up the scent of any sort of entity within the structure, but was relieved when I came up with nothing. It seemed safe, for the moment.

“I smell nothing, Doctor. It should be safe. But still be cautious of your surroundings.”

John nodded, clearly on board with my assessment.

“Well, you’re the expert.” He huffed lightly before following my lead up to the deck.

I sliced the remaining integrity of the lock off with my claws and pushed the door open, letting us both inside. I stood up in a bipedal fashion once in the foyer, the ceiling being about nine feet high, only giving me a foot of headroom.

In case there was anything inside that was masking its scent, John and I still did a sweep of the interior, wanting to be thorough about whether or not we were alone.

We found nothing but spider webs and dust. Along with an as

Meanings and Inspirations : Skarlet

I did some research on all of skarlets gear and skins, and left what I found here. who should I do next

MASKS

Goddess of Gore - Skarlet uses blood as her method of attack, and gore is pretty associated with blood, as you should know.

Ancient Blood Magic - Skarlets magic is called blood magic.

Ensnaring Sorceress - Ensnaring means “To take or catch”

Arcane Blood Witch - Arcane is another older term for magic, so a modern version of this name is “Magic Blood Witch”, which makes sense.

Daywalker’s Visage - Daywalker is a term used in Marvel Comics for a human that is born half human and half vampire. Now, im not sure if that’s what this name is based on, but it makes sense for Skarlet, doesn’t it? It’s also seemingly a slang term for pale gingers.

Bewitching Bloodletter - Bewitch means to cast a spell over someone, or charm.

Reiko’s Devotee - Reiko is a character who first appeared in MK4 i think and was a main antagonist in the mkx comics. In the comic, Skarlet pretty much thinks reiko is hot as fuck.

Red-Streaked Acolyte - An acolyte is someone who is a devoted follower or attendant of something, usually something magic related.

Gory Gamine - A gamine is a woman whos left to roam the streets, otherwise known as an urchin. This fits skarlets story, and she is called a street urchin in a few dialogues.

Daughter of Outworld - She calls herself Shao Kahns daughter, and was born in Outworld. Thus, she is a daughter of outworld.

Bloodmaster’s Gore Guard - She can be called a bloodmaster, so this is her guard from gore?

Cleric of Chaos - This is another reference to the comics, where Skarlet was an ally of Havik, who is known as a cleric of chaos.

Kannibal Ferox - Ferox is a latin word that roughly means “wild”

Heart-Attack Assassin - I think we all know what a heart attack is and how it relates to Skarlet, of course shes an assassin too.

Outworld Waif - Waif is a word for a homeless person, mainly used to describe a homeles orphan, which Skarlet was.

Bloody May She Reign - I believe this is a reference top Bloody Mary. The start of it sounds like it’s going to say Bloody Mary, and reign is a significant part of the bloody mary tale.

Ruby Red mistress - Ruby’s are known for being red, Skarlets normally red, woo. but Ruby Red is the name of a book in a series of novels by German writer Kerstien Gier. The books go as follows : Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue, and Emerald Green. Skarlet, Kitana, and Jade perhaps? Hmm.

Stealthy Sanguinare - Sanguinar

Advice: How to deal with Exec

(Throw away account) Seeking advice, or people to simply say that I'm not crazy

We've got a new team established in our company. It's the R&D/Do whatever they feel like that day team. The problem with this is that (to the team leads credit), they're excellent at marketing to the exec

They've got all the buzz words: Data lakes, Kubernetes and promising to revolutionize the entire business. It'll all be magic! And all they need are the keys to the castle. The issue I have now is that this team have no governance, and my team (being the platform/infrastructure side of things) is unable to setup anything for this group and establish boundaries as they're special. I've quite literally been directed to let them do whatever they want. This has basically resulted in:

  • Insecure Docker registries being exposed to the internet
  • Unsecured storage accounts facing the internet
  • APIs facing the internet with no authentication/authorization or transport layer encryption
  • K8 management APIs facing the internet with no access control
  • Virtual machines created in our cloud tenant without anti virus and administrative credentials locked down etc. Group policy isn't applied to windows VMs as they aren't in AD and Linux VMs aren't hardened either
  • Applications published into Azure AD that have bypassed all conditional access we had in place

My greatest issue is that explaining is losing. I'm up against cool buzzwords and a team that doesn't actually have do deliver anything. They quite literally have no KPIs. Pointing out critical security holes due to the lack of governance is deemed to be anti change and and anti progress. For me personally, I don't actually care what their new applications do (within reason) providing the foundations they sit on are secure and that the application isn't a giant hole itself. If the customer wants an API that returns inappropriate pictures in ASCII, I just don't care

All the security points have been put in writing to our CIO numerous times as well

Anyone dealt with this situation before? What did you do other than simply resign? All I can see is that we'll have a massive security event and I'll end up under the bus for it. Funnily enough, nothing they've produced in the last 4 months has been useable by the business, So my only hope now is that the management team will simply see them as a waste of time/money.

50+ Ways To Reduce Plastic Use (Megathread)

The problem with plastic

Ok, get ready cos this is going to be a long one...

Every year around 12 million tonnes of plastic pollute our oceans, with approximately 8 million pieces of plastic entering the ocean daily.

In present times limiting plastic use is incredibly difficult especially since a lot of brands still rely on it for their packaging. Recycled plastic has increased in use however a lot of packaging being produced are multi-material and cannot be recycled!

In 2018 the reported recycling rates of plastic were 28% in the US and 41.5% in Europe and in Asia, the demand for plastic packaging is greater than their waste-collection processes. Globally only around 16% of plastic is actually recycled with the rest being dumped, incinerated or placed in landfills. This is a shame as a lot of the dumped plastic had the potential to be recycled.

Ok, so we know that plastic use isn't great and is harming the environment but you're probably thinking, "what can I do to avoid it when literally half of my Amazon orders seem to be coated in this stuff??"

Recently I came across some really great sources and infographics on ideas to help reduce plastic use. I have collated these sources and found links to specific products and websites which we can use to make our efforts to reduce plastic use easier! If you have any more additions please comment them below and I’ll add them to this list!

Ok so I made a list of 50 Ways to limit plastic use and included numerous links to non-plastic alternatives:

  1. Decline the use of straws at restaurants and drive-throughs, if needed use sustainable alternatives made from bamboo or metal
  2. Bring a glass jar and buy popcorn from bulk bins rather than brands with plastic packaging
  3. Use a small compost bin to store food waste, to reduce garbage use
  4. Buy reusable silicone zip-top sandwich bags also available from major supermarkets
  5. Use bamboo toothbrushes that are sustainable and biodegradable
  6. Shop more in bulk, grains, nuts, legumes, baking ingredients, cereals and many more are great options that can help you cut down on excess packaging
  7. Choose products with no packaging or with biodegradable wrappers such as banana leaves, here’s a list of 40+ brands
  8. Use reusable produce bags made from a biodegradable material like cotton, cornstarch, hemp, jute or bamboo
  9. Support local, regional and nationwide legislations to ban plastic bag use**.**
  10. Recycle plastic bags or bring them to recycling drop-off locat

I was quite inspired by the post relating the signs to certain natural phenomena and I raise you with what I've formulated over the years.

Edit: Thank you for all the positive feedback as well as constructive criticism! This was my initial mental dump over the course of just one day so it's very seed-like in form at it's current stage.

  • Aries - lightning and wildfires, and sparks:
    • impulsive and somewhat difficult to control,
    • extremely agile either mentally, physically, or both(cardinal trait),
    • lightning and wildfires rapidly destroy(or purify in a sense) anything they encounter(Aries' aggressiveness and anger). With lighting rods and controlled burning, humans displace the raw fire energy in more productive manners(how Aries positively works with their impulses)
    • when humans were able to harness fire, a new age was born where man could conquer the world around them.[Aries is the first sign in the Zodiac(lifecycle, organization, civilization, etc.)]
      • the presence of fire introduces new dietary options from cooking and baking, for tempering metal tools and pottery, and building bigger buildings(Aries inspirational pioneering in a good natured way that creates order out of chaos)
      • fire also forges more lethal weapons, stronger defenses, and increases the brutality of war(the dark side of Aries pioneering that creates order through chaos)
    • when man learned how to harness electricity, another era of dominion quickly swept across the land similar to how fire influenced the ancients(Aries pioneering 2.0 version)
  • Leo - the sun:
    • larger(personality and sense of identity) than all bodies in the solar system
    • all celestial objects revolve around it, not the other way around(fixed trait)
    • central governor of time and seasons so the majority of life on earth must consistently pay attention to where the sun is in order to survive(Leo's always on stage)
    • nothing in the solar system escapes the interplanetary magnetic field the sun emits(Leo engages others on a grand scale with a potent animal magnetism without having to direct it towards a specific person each time for effect)
    • most religious and spiritual belief systems have strong ties to the sun's leadership of their myriad of doctrines, practices, and deities
    • while light radiates from the sun, it is dispersed in all directions and not focalized(as strong, energetic, and intelligent as Leo is, the native is usually shy's away from going to the deepest philosophical depths(understanding) of a subject in favor of something else more entertaining or engaging on the surface)

That's Confirmation Bias for the newbies.

[TOMT] [MOVIE] [Late90s/2000s] [Action/Thriller/Comedy] Ending: Kidnapped captive woman rescued from high platform inside bright lit office at night. [Week 58]

Hi guys - 58 weeks of posting this - will this be the week?

Looking for some help to identify what I recall as a late 90s/early/mid 2000s action/thriller/comedy. Set in a contemporary city - not a period piece. All I can remember is the very ending where a female had been kidnapped/taken hostage by the bad guy, and she was kinda tied to a beam or stood balanced on a high beam in bright lit office reception foyer . It was very bright fluorescent light. Kind of on a mezzanine inside the reception of a glass office building. She is rescued by the lead male. Very similar vibe and atmosphere to Collateral (2004) - but not this. (Apologies - I know I've posted this a few times - but determined to find this now) Thanks so much, D

So, you wanna see BTS live? A guide to ticketing.

Ticketing for BTS is a bloodbath, not gonna lie. Especially with the influx of a lot of fans who will want to see them live post-quarantine. I was able to get my hands on some twice, although it was a very intense and fast paced process. Keep in mind, I am writing this from the perspective of someone who has only seen BTS in the US. I think a lot of the advice is still applicable internationally, but I can’t provide detail on that.

Cost

BTS tickets, in comparison to the other artists who are in their caliber of popularity, actually aren’t hugely expensive. You can get nosebleed seats at around 60-80 USD a pop. BTS tickets range from $60 to $300 USD face value per person (not including fees) at first sale value depending on where you sit. The average price of a ticket according to Ticketmaster is $299 (with fees). The only official initial ticketing site for BTS is TicketMaster. Don’t forget about the cost of transportation, food, lodging, and merch! If you’re gonna buy merch, you will probably spend a few hundred. Allocate $50 dollars per person for food/drink. Transportation and lodging heavily depend on your proximity to a venue, but it will probably be a few hundred for a hotel room. Transportation heavily depends.

Seats

It really depends on the venue. Being close without actually being on the floor is probably your best bet. To prevent mobbing, all of the floor seats have actual chairs, but it can get quite intense down there and the tickets are more expensive. Lower 1st level seats close to the stage are what I consider to be the optimum. However, if you want the chance of getting to see BTS really close up, then you’ll wanna look for floor seats, but those can range from 300-500 USD at face value. The only VIP experience is soundcheck. These tickets are more expensive, but you’ll be let in with a small group of fans for floor seats and get to see BTS do their mic checks. There’s a higher chance of interaction with them there, but it is more expensive. Hi-touch and meet and greets aren’t something that BTS do now.

Even if you don’t get your ideal seats, there are huge screens and the staff do live camerawork and follow BTS around so you’ll have a good view. The show itself is very immersive, around three hours with no opening acts, and the production value is quite literally insane. If you want a taste, look up the concert performances of Anpanman, Euphoria, Dionysus, and Mikrokosmos of YouTube. Your seats won’t matter much when you

A try at a Lappland fanfic.

Well, this is a little fanfic I thought about two months ago, I kind of wrote it down to put it out of my head as I kept thinking about it.

So here it is, I thought that I might as well share it. Do please understand that I've started Arknights just a few months ago though. Spoiler for Lappland's dialogues as assistant and personnal archives.

Also my apologies for using the "Discussion" flair, but I didn't know where to put this in.

Anyway, hope you will enjoy it.

“ Dokutah… Dokutah ! ”

The Doctor started to slowly wake up, his blurry vision seem to somewhat distinguish a large pile of papers right in front of him.

“ - Amiya: Dokutah ! You’re sleeping again ! You still have a lot of work to do ! “

Ah, Amiya’s voice, even though she was giving him a stern look for not doing his work correctly, the Dokutah was still glad to see her like that, and hear her voice. She seemed to him like a daughter concerned about her father, and trying to scold him to bring him back in the right path. What a sweat and dear girl she was, he was glad to be looking after her.

“ Doctor : Ah sorry Amiya, I started dozing off and then… well you know, I kind of overslept.

- Amiya : I did see this Dokutah, but we still have a lot of work to do today, you’ll be sleeping only once work is done. I’ll go get you some coffee to stop you from sleeping again.

- Doctor : Thank you Amiya, I’ll go through these papers then… “

Amiya went out of the office, readjusting her rings as she walked, she looked back before exiting, checking one last time if the Doctor was actually going to do his work. Most importantly she wanted to see if he seemed alright, he had trouble sleeping recently, and it seemed to only get worse ; he kept silent about why, and that puzzled her greatly.

The Doctor started rummaging through the countless papers, field reports, list of necessary materials for upgrades, vacation requests, maintenance bills, so many papers for so many problems. He kept signing, reading, thinking, making absolutely sure that his decisions would not be counter-productive for Rhodes Island.

Whilst reading a training report for guard operators, he stumbled upon the name of operator Lappland. It was rather concerning, the report filled by Melantha indicated that Lappland was starting to become more and more aggressive during training ; in fact Franka, who was partnered with her during training, almost got injured. This seemed to become a trend, she was already fairly wild durin

Energy Web is the biggest Blockchain organisation to date & will be one of the most used chains this decade

I've put together a Redpill post on what stood out to me about about EW while looking into it.

As you might know a LOT of money is flooding into the energy sector. Trillions of $ will be deployed in the energy transition. It's accelerating now with $500 billion put into sustainable energy related stuff last year. $139 billion was spent on Electric Vehicles & infrastructure like charging stations in 2020.

There's a global drive from governments & companies to push the worlds electricity into a sustainable landscape, with milestones within this decade. Americas investment will be accelerating with the Biden win.

Even large banks are announcing they won't be investing money into companies that aren't part of this transition. Basically every large company in america & europe will have no choice but to invest in clean energy.

a bit more on this also mentioned by Jesse Morris (CCO) on twitter:

twitter.com/ja_morris/status/1340027413367943168

>"In the next three decades, renewables, batteries & DERs will dominate the energy landscape, attracting 93% of all power sector investment, ~$13 trillion. Customers alone will directly invest $2 trillion. And that’s not even counting the trillions we’re about to spend on EVs."

Energy web is a blockchain started by the merging of Grid Singularity and the Rocky Mountain Institute.

Grid Singularity + RMI = Energy Web

Grid singularity was co-founded by Gavin wood (a leader in Polkadot & early Ethereum, both in the top 10) Jutta Steiner (former Chief of Security for Ethereum) and more from early ethereum + energy companies. The Rocky mountain institute is a leading clean energy organisation (more on RMI later).

They both fused into the Energy Web foundation.

The Energy Web Chain is a public Proof of Authority chain aimed at the Energy sector, & allows for greater scaling than Ethereum, which is needed for the millions / billions of energy devi

Coldhands Identity [Spoilers EXTENDED]

Could Coldhands be Brave Danny Flint? It sounds crackpot, and very likely is, but the more I thought about it the more it appealed to me. I've done a quick search, one or two people seem to have floated this before but it's never had much in-depth analysis. This is my first meta, so please be gentle and C&C welcome.

The Gender Agenda
To start with, I'll start with the elephant in the room - Danny Flint was a girl, Coldhands is male. Or is he? Gilly, Meera, and Bran all refer to him as male, but they have no idea who he is, so would see Night's Watch clothes and assume. He wears a scarf over his face, and while they can see his eyes and that his face is pale, it took Bran's gang a decent amount of time to work out he was a walking corpse, so I'm not sure I trust them to figure out niceties like gender.
Leaf's "They killed him long ago" is more of a problem - she's a colleague, she would probably know. My best defence is that maybe Children of the Forest don't do gender in the same way as humans? This feels like a reach, but we have had another magical species with sexual fluidity leading to trouble with pronouns in the series. Otherwise, Leaf tends to hang out in the cave, Coldhands can't get in, maybe they're just not that close.
Finally, the main person to ask - Coldhands his or her self. The only other post I could see on reddit about this theory had someone respond with the quote "Once the heart has ceased to beat, a man's blood runs down into his extremities, where it thickens and congeals. His hands and feet swell up and turn as black as pudding. The rest of him becomes as white as milk", but I'd point out this is in third person and a generalization - "a man", not "me, Coldhands, the man".

Okay, now I've convinced everyone my theory is terrible, let's get into the meat of it.

Hands cold as stone
This was what got me into this rabbit hole in the first place - House Flint's sigil is "A grey stone hand upon a white inverted pall on paly black and grey". A stone hand would be pretty cold, right? In point of fact, when we first met Coldhands, the final line of the chapter describes "fingers hard as stone." On top of that, the white and black background seems to fit the Night's Watch blacks, pale face, black hands, white snow, etc.

Who the hell else could it be?
This has always been the weird thing about Coldhands for me. Honestly, there's a very good chance this is a non myster

Long Long Way To Go: #11 Peter Gabriel (Melt) - Peter Gabriel

While it's not as clean of a round number like ten, these top eleven albums are the peaks of solo Genesis music, and are truly the best of the best in my eyes. I love them all to death and they each have a special place in my heart. It was unbelievably hard to sort all of these by preference, and #11-#4 are all about equal for me, so keep that in mind if anything seems a bit too low.

~~~
Released in 1980
Full album here
Never have I ever heard an artist that changed their sound so drastically, and completely reinvented themself with a single album, in the way Peter Gabriel did with Melt. Even Genesis, who transformed from prog legends into hit-makers, didn't see such a dramatic change in sound overnight, only gradually becoming more commercial with each album - far from an instant process. With Peter, I think he realized that continuing in the vein of Scratch simply wasn't going to work or do him any favors. Additionally, Peter is someone constantly searching for ways to broaden his horizons, always willing to try something new.
Peter:
>I think that the third album was quite important for me in terms of really having a defining sound and the band coming through. It was the first record where I was clearly doing something different from what other people were doing.^(1)
Melt came with two massive overhauls to Peter's brand as an artist. Firstly, the rawness of Robert Fripp's production on Scratch, was replaced with a slick and fresh sound, thanks to Peter's new producer Steve Lillywhite. The two would prove to have a great chemistry with each other, resulting in experimental and unorthodox methods and ideas in terms of production - namely the choice to omit all forms of cymbals from the album.
Peter:
>I was looking around for some young, new and interesting people that I could work with. Steve Lillywhite and Hugh Padgham had worked on the XTC record, and some other what were then alternative bands, and of the people I had met I enjoyed their work a lot.^(1)
And secondly, Peter's creative process of songwriting was completely turned on its head, as he began to write songs from the ground up, focusing on the rhythm first, before considering any kind of melody or chords. This focus on rhythm and percussion tied right into Peter's newfound interest of African music, which played a large role in the album's character, on a few songs in
Siren Song II [OC]
|| Previous ||
“I can’t believe you had us bring all of them over.” Elvir’gth muttered as they lowered the last of the Automata to the deck of the Rowden.
“We don’t know how they activate. It could be proximity or something.” Dee replies for Tel’gra as she looks at the gathered Automata. They were unsettling to look at, and Tel’gra only managed to look a few seconds until she was forced to look away. Under the better, more intense lighting of the Rowden’s hanger bay they appeared far more eerie and imposing. Over seven feet tall and marked with the scars of battle damage. Burn marks, dented armoured plates, and the occasional exposed wiring gave them a veteran appearance. There was no visible signs of emotion, nothing to indicate such damage pained or limited them. She could only imagine what it would be like to face them in battle, an enemy that didn’t need rest, or food. That felt no pain or emotions.That continued to advance no matter the odds, trampling the living and the dead under their heavy plating.
They had been stood in uneven ranks of two, the team unable and unwilling to actually set them up in a proper formation. No one felt comfortable around them, Elvir’gth had had a hand on his beam pistol the entire trip back and even now he was hovering over the grip.
The trio had left the Tawerum ship after another hour of searching, bringing with them all the Automata and the stasis pod, using the weightlessness of Zero-G to transport them all. There wasn’t enough space to keep them in the on-board lab, so they were being left in the main storage bay. The damaged and destroyed one had been moved to the engine room, however, where Gree, the ship’s Engineer, was going to tinker with the damaged Automata and attempt to figure out whatever he could about it.
…If he could stop his drinking, anyways.
Tel’gra and Dee, alongside the ship’s medical doctor, Wel’ere, meanwhile, would be attempting to figure out what they could about the Human inside the pod, and, if possible, free it from the metal cocoon.
To that end, they were going to move the pod to the lab, and place it inside the small observation chamber. Tel’gra once more found herself cursing the size of the vessel. On the one hand, they had found something and someone of incredible value. It was perhaps a historic moment of historic moments, on the level of the Fulmarian founding of the Federation thrift three millennia ag
The Battle of Fondor
The three Delta-class DX19 transports shot through hyperspace en route to the Fondor system. The Unitary Systems were unaware of what was coming their way. The Rae Coalition had planned for months and it was time for them to see if it would have paid off. Sixty of their best soldiers were joined by sixteen fine Jedi. The ships and the teams had simple designations. Delta One, Delta Two, and Delta Three.
Delta One and Delta Two were mostly Coalition troopers armed with enough explosives to critically damage the Expanse-class Star Dreadnought. The Jedi with them were an extra layer of security to guarantee that the bomb squad got in and out safely. Delta Three on the other hand, carried the most of the Jedi. Their duty was to take out the Lord Protector, former Jedi Council member, Udon-Zan. Some of the Jedi on board had misgivings, but they all knew their duty.
Herschel sat in the back of the cockpit meditating. He’d been meditating since the ship the transport was inside of jumped out of Abregado-Rae. He wasn’t nervous. He couldn’t be. Herschel knew that if he had a bad feeling, it would be his doom. He opened his eyes and found his vision was a bit blurry. He could see that they were in the Fondor system and he could hear someone saying they had just fled the Lamuir system and there was a Coalition fleet building up there. Herschel wasn’t sure if it was the pilot of this transport, Allan O’Brian, or if he just heard it over the comm. Herschel let out a yawn and realized he had actually been napping.
He unbuckled himself and went into the rear of the ship where most of the others were waiting. “It’s almost time. May the Force be with us,” Herschel said.
Humans are Weird - Abrasive
Humans are Weird – Abrasive
Original Post: http://www.authorbettyadams.com/bettys-blog/humans-are-weird-abrasive
“It is very fortunate for Human Friend Sarah that you were able to come with us,” Rollstight commented as she shuffled into her transport tank. “I could not have acquired nearly so much of the samples she required with my speed over such surfaces.”
Seventh Sister gave an absent click of agreement as she continued picking up the broken fragments of the strange volcanic rock. The fragile specimen had been improperly secured in one of the mass transport’s overhead bins and only the membrane shield she was wearing when it fell had protected her from severe injury. She shifted her head underneath the protective hood and winced as the material rubbed over her antenna tasting of nothing but the synthetic fibers. She tossed the last of the fragments into the carry case and glanced around for any more. She didn’t see any and rose to her full height. She sealed the carry case and watched as Rollstight activated the air filters and the vacuum drone.
When the sensors declared the interior of the transport free of the dangerous fragments of volcanic rock Seventh Sister pulled the membrane shield with a flex of relief. She flared out her frill and extended her antenna several times. She shook out all four legs one at a time and was in the process of giving her abdomen a good flex when Rollstight gave a disgruntled hum. Seventh Sister focused her attention on her and smiled as she saw the many appendages struggling to find purchase on the sides of the tank.
“Do you require assistance?” Seventh Sister asked.
“Yes,” Rollstight admitted. “These old isolation tanks were built too large for the median mass Undulate. Could you go fetch Human Friend Mack?”
“I am capable of assisting you myself,” Seventh Sister assured her.
She tripped lightly up to the tank and offered her forearms as a point of leverage. The Undulate wrapped her gripping appendages around her primary joint politely but seemed hesitant to put any weight on the limb.
“Are you sure you are capable?” Rollstight asked. “I don’t usually climb anyone over Fifth.”
“The strength gradient is negligible between Fifth and Tenth.” Seventh Sister assured her. “And I am well above the mean strength for a Fifth.”
“You are sure of this?” Rollstight pressed. “You are not attempting to prove your usefulness to the collective by
Best stocks for the fourth industrial revolution
The Fourth Industrial Revolution is characterised by the fusion of the digital, biological, and physical worlds, as well as the growing utilisation of new technologies. It is the trend towards automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies and processes which include:
  • Cyber-physical systems (CPS) / Cyber security
  • Cloud Computing
  • Ai
  • Advanced Robotics / automation
  • Big-data
  • 3D printing
  • Quantum computing (hypothetically)
  • Robotic process automation (RPA)
  • Semi-conductors
  • Biotechnology / Healthcare
  • IoT manufacturing
  • Renewable energy
  • Manufacturing / Mining
  • Crypto (I have no experience in this besides some small positions in BTC and ETH, feel free to drop any DD and knowledge)
Of course there's discussions which one are part of the industry 4.0 so I might be missing a few.
since I believe that we are still at the start of this revolution, I want to invest in promising companies related to those industries. Some companies already have proven themselves, others are still in the 'startup' fase.
Hereby a list of the companies from which I think are the best or will be the best in the corresponding sector. What sectors and which must-have companies am I missing?
Note: some sectors are very broad so they might overlap.
  • Cyber-physical systems (CPS) / Cyber security
    • CrowdStrike - $CRWD
      • Offers a broad spectrum of solutions with the main goal of cyber-security. Some well-known clients where they have solved hacks are Sony Pictures and the DNC (Democratic National Committee). The company is the market leader in the cloud-based endpoint security segment and is also expanding into 5G network security.
    • Cloudflare - $NET
      • Offers a wide range of network services to companies around the world. Cloudflare's intelligent global network spans more than 200 cities in more than 100 countries. It provides network security and improved network performance and reliability to an increasing proportion of the total Internet used. More than 15% of the internet is used via Cloudflare
    • BlackBerry - $BB
$BB DD - no meems
The overworked automod @ WSB keeps deleting this because I'm a lurker and have shitty karma. Hoping one of you guys see this / can post over there if you deem appropriate.
Dear WSB - While I hold nothing aginst $GME, $AMC etc. - and imma let you finish - but $BB is one of the most solid fundamental, growth plays in the entire stock market, let alone the current trending meme names.
Forget about squozes and voodoo ass candlesticks. #Ben Graham gang #. There was a great post re: the company's product line up here, make sure to check that out if you haven’t already.
My approach is to look at $BB from a strategic financial lens. First off, multiples off earnings are misleading, esp. w/ a company like BB where one-time and nonrecurring items are present and where there is a premium for growth vs. steady-state earnings. So as any Wall street spreadsheet monkey would do, I spread some comparables on earnings. Basically – How does the market value similar businesses? ?
No shit BB is not a phone company anymore. They are, if you’ve been paying any attention at all, an endpoint protection company. What is endpoint protection? Endpoints are basically computers, phones, but massively now also IoT – Your smart TV is an endpoint, so is your dumb refrigerator now that has to connect to wifi, and terrifyingly so is your car, your airplane, and stuff where if shit goes wrong the result is worse than not being able to double fist another helping of chocolate ice cream.
Almost every electronic device at this point that relies on internet access is an endpoint, with corresponding security challenges. So what does this mean? It means we can take a look at other endpoint protection / digital security companies, see how the market values them, and see what that implies for $BB based on its own revenue.
See below a quick spread. Based on the revenue multiples currently ascribed to comparables to Blackberry, Blackberry has a target price of at least $60 / share. And this is only if it is the average of its peers. I believe it is better for all the reasons previous posters have mentioned.
I’m A Monster On The Run From My Past, It’s Catching Up.
Author’s Note: Welcome back to part four of the “I’m A Monster” series, if you haven’t listened and or read the first three chapters. They are listed below. (Also surprise! It’s a couple days early!)
Part One: I’m A Monster Created By The Government To Hunt Other Monsters.
Part Two: I’m A Monster Protecting Humanity, Things Are Getting Dangerous For Me…
Part Three: I’m A Monster Who Used To Hunt Other Monsters For The Government.
Doctor John and I had come across an abandoned cabin ten miles deep into the forest, it was evident to both of us that we would be staying there for the time being. It was also more than likely that us killing the avian creature had attracted the attention of other cryptids, and, they would soon be there to clean up what was left.
Dusk was approaching, the shadows of the trees were growing stronger. We needed to be efficient, I’ve stated in the past that I wasn’t keen on the idea of bringing others with me. But John was intelligent and much more of an asset than a liability.
I slowly approached the steps of the front deck to the cabin, crawling across the ground on all fours. Doctor John was close behind, putting in an effort to be as quiet as possible.
The cabin itself was in decent but not pristine shape. There was rotting spots in the wood, the steps to the deck were dented. The front left window had a crack running up the middle, vegetation was beginning to grow its way up the sides of the foundation.
I sniffed the air, seeing if I could pick up the scent of any sort of entity within the structure, but was relieved when I came up with nothing. It seemed safe, for the moment.
“I smell nothing, Doctor. It should be safe. But still be cautious of your surroundings.”
John nodded, clearly on board with my assessment.
“Well, you’re the expert.” He huffed lightly before following my lead up to the deck.
I sliced the remaining integrity of the lock off with my claws and pushed the door open, letting us both inside. I stood up in a bipedal fashion once in the foyer, the ceiling being about nine feet high, only giving me a foot of headroom.
In case there was anything inside that was masking its scent, John and I still did a sweep of the interior, wanting to be thorough about whether or not we were alone.
We found nothing but spider webs and dust. Along with an assortment of old silverware in the kitchen. Confirming we w
