Hello all, I was hoping to grab a gopro this black friday to use underwater, but according to the reviews here It does not work that well with the silver due to some foam placement.
Is there a better case I should get or should I try to find a different model? I would like to be able to shoot at 150'
Thanks in advance.
Hi guys, Iβm looking to buy my first dive computer but I donβt have major bucks to spend. I can spend around 80-100β¬ and Iβve found one on sale for 92β¬ called the SEAC Partner. It is labelled as a free diving computer but Iβm wondering whatβs the difference?
I know this sounds like a dumb question, but now that I'm certified to scuba dive, I have no idea where to go! Do I have to go to a boat rental place every time? How do I find places where I can just go into the water at a moment's notice? How do I know if it is illegal to dive somewhere? Aaargh, so many questions!
Of course I looked up Yelp! But Iβd like to get as many recommendations as I can.
Alsoβ where NOT to go if youβve had that experience.
Any cold water divers in this group? I know it's been posted before, but not in the last 4 years.
I'm a dive instructor from Hawaii, with over 3,000 dives but less than 100 dives in cold (<15Β°) water. My drysuit is on its way here in the mail and I'd like to put it to use when it arrives. I have a couple professional diver friends here in Switzerland, who I've worked with previously in other countries, and my wife dives too, but they don't want anything to do with cold water. I'm especially interested in diving the Verzasca but I'd prefer to do it with someone who knows it well. Open to any other dives as well, I'm based in Kanton Aargau but willing to travel pretty much anywhere in Switzerland for a good dive. I'm set up for either a single backmounted tank, or multiple sidemount tanks.
Anyone here scuba dive with tinnitus? Curious how it impacts you.
Hi everyone! I've been a certified diver for about 16 years now. I'm also a true crime/unsolved mysteries fan and love listening to podcasts. I took all 3 interests and combined them into one!
Narcosis: Into The Deep is a brand new type of podcast! It's an investigative podcast all about SCUBA diving and marine accidents and deaths.
Each week a different scuba diving or marine accident will be presented along with facts or theories leading up to the event as well as information on how you can prevent this happening to you while diving or out on the open waters.
This week's episode is about Jacob's Well - Texas's deadliest diving location. I talk about some of the people who have died here, a free diver who almost died, Don Dibble, the man who lead most of the missions to recover bodies, and, finally, the most common errors made when cave diving,

This is my very first podcast on a topic that I LOVE! I would love it if you could take some time out of your day to check it out! Please also let me know where you listen to podcasts if it's not one of the options above. I'd like to make sure the show is available on your preferred platform!
Hi guys, I'm new to boston, living in the southend area. I was wondering if there are any scuba diving spots close by. I don't have a license or any kind of training, so I'm actually looking for spots which offer guided dives/training. Hope there's something like that here.
Hey there! I (26 year old guy) am planning a road trip this summer with my final stop being Monterey Bay in Cali, where I want to go scuba diving. But I want to make the trip even more fun and invite a fun and spontaneous internet stranger to go with me. Crazy idea? Maybe, but I don't have any scuba certified friends to share the adventure with. I did, however, find a diver from Santa Cruz that agreed to take me to the best diving locations there. I would say "I promise I'm not a random serial killer" but that would probably just make you uneasy. But since I've already said it, I can at least prove to you that I go to OSU if you end up wanting to join me :)
I'm fully vaccinated (or at least I will be by the end of the week) and expect you to be vaccinated if you want to join me on the trip. I will be taking all the COVID precautions I possibly can, including either camping in a tent or renting a van to camp out in each night. On that note, it's gonna be tight sleeping quarters so you would have to be okay with that π I also plan on doing some hikes at some popular hiking areas on the way so you'd have to enjoy hiking. Other than that, I just ask that you are someone respectful and scuba certified so we can hop in the water once we reach Monterey Bay!
DM/chat me on here if you want to hear more or are interested! I can tell you more about myself and the plans I have for the trip.
So the halibut is found on the seafloor but idk how yo go and fish and when I scuba dive BC I can see it (assuming it's a halibut) but idk how o get it
Hey all, I wanted to give an update here as this may help someone out there who's in the same situation as me. I initially caught Covid in January and had really mild symptoms such as fatigue, body aches, headache, etc. -- it more or less felt like a moderate hangover for a few days. I didn't have any coughing or congestion problems either. Despite that, I had lingering chest problems for about three months after that. My symptoms ranged from a heavy chest, dull pains coming and going, and sharp pains as I was finishing the last of a deep breath. I never had any SOB issues or difficulty breathing, nor did it affect my day to day -- it was just something that was really distracting when it flared up at certain points of the day.
I narrowed it down to either costochondritis or GERD, but I'm not particularly sure which. I found some success with my symptoms after taking antihistamines like Zyrtec and famotidine.
I got my second Moderna shot at the beginning of April and in the 1-2 weeks after that, my chest pains persisted slightly. They weren't as bad, but they were getting better. I got checked up by doctors who cleared me to go diving, so I went ahead and hit the water again. I've done a few days of diving, totaling around 5 hours in the water and the chest symptoms I had right before diving have now gone away completely. It's now been around 3 weeks since my second Moderna shot.
It could've been either the diving or the second shot, but I wanted to post this because I saw some people having some level of success with hyperbaric chamber treatment, which essentially imitates the pressure change you get when diving. It could be worth looking into.
Let me know if you have any questions!
I'm looking to do a discovery scuba but I'm unable to find many recent pictures/videos of the house reefs which is odd because usually travelers post everything.
I've looked on: facebook, google, youtube, instagram using multiple location, and hashtags
I've also looked at manta and mero.
Things i'm looking for the most: coral, fish, and visibility. I will be in Madeira at the end of May and i'm excited! Thanks in advance!!
Idk if this sounds like an idiotic question but Iβm planning on going to the Maldives in the summer and I really wanna scuba dive the videos and pictures look so surreal. I know how to swim but Iβm not very good. I know absolutely nothing about scuba diving so can someone tell me if this is just a terrible idea? I also have anxiety and I was reading that if you start freaking out it can mess with the oxygen tank and cause death. Obviously Iβm gonna do a supervised one if Iβm going to do it. Also if someone has been to the Maldives where are the best scuba diving places for beginners?
Just look how many people lost all their bitcoins in a boat accidents.
Iβd like to avoid Brays as it is where I previously kayaked past a dead body. Thanks!
Hi, I'm going to Myrtle Beach for scuba diving in early May.
Has anyone dived there before? I'm a newbie and wondering if the water is gonna be too cold, or if there are gonna be sharks..?
I heard there's some sharkage in Myrtle beach, and I wonder if it's safe to dive there!
I also heard that SC diving is for big boys, and since I'm a noob, if it's the right place to get my open water license!
I see that there are two diving places: Scuba Express and Coastal Scuba. Which one do you recommend? If both of them are just fine, I'm gonna go for the one that's closer to my hotel.
Thanks!
