Hi, I wasn't intending to get the very-positive-bundle-2 and forgot about it. Then today I decided to donate to a charity to help Puerto Rico Rico and realised there was nothing to lose (and some games to gain) by doing that through Humblebundle especially when I saw that the very pos bundle 2 is still available for the 16 hours. I can always pay a bit more than I was going to donate and skew most of the donation to the charity. :)
I see there are some Puerto Rico charities listed on HB but I don't have a good understanding of all of them all and the charity I've seen tweeted out the most at the moment isn't on the HB list of charities (not sure why or how HB choose the charities). I'm sure there are other good charities but as I was planning to donate re. Hurricane Maria I want to make sure I'm doing with the bundle.
Just wondered if anybody with more knowledge knew if any of them would be any good to help Puerto Rico right now (in case they are more focused on long-term things or just bad charities overall) or if I should just skip this bundle donate elsewhere. I don't want to get the games at the expense of the money not being used as well as it could be. Thanks!
(I hope this post is ok, I'm new on this section of reddit).
In the 16th Century, between 1600 and 1501 BC, the SPANISH brought Slaves from Africa in order to profit from the land by cultivating sugar, ginger tobacco and coffee. They also used the labor to guild the GOVERNORS MANSION also known as La Fortaleza. For hundreds of years the Spain Government profited from the island.
The slaves built, roads, bridges, infrastructure and other things taken for granted today.
Not until 1898 that the shackles of the Spain rule were broken and 20 years later in 1917 Puerto Ricans were given US Citizenship.
Since then due to mismanagement, government inefficiency, political fraud forced many, as many as 5 Million +, to leave the island for other states.
Hi everyone!
I'm looking at researching the use of both Spanish and English in the countries listed in my title. I want to hear your views on how you experience both languages in your country. Is there a particular profession/reason as to why both languages are used (e.g in business, casual conversation, politics)? How does the current BLM situation make you feel in your country? How do you think Spanglish is affecting the Hispanic identity?
If there's anything else that you feel is important to research, please let me know, I'm easily inspired. This is just to get a few ideas btw, so don't feel obliged to give a lengthy response (although it would be nice to read, I'm a graduate in linguistics) :)
Muchas gracias desde inglaterra
Claudia being a one season housewife is honestly one of the biggest travesties in housewives history. Claudia earned her peach when she destroyed Nene in Puerto Rico. Only Kandi and Kenya have ever put Nene together that hard before. Claudia came for Nene's hot ramen noodle hair, the edges, and Nene's failed attempt at a hollywood career. And this argument really brought out Nene's nasty side that is so common place now-a-days. Her half-breed comment was so disgusting and this is the moment that had me completely turn againt Nene.
Such a shame that Nene had so much pull back in the day, I'm sure Nene campaigned hard as hell to prevent Claudia from returning. And big shout outs to the rest of the cast for their side comments and talking heads, from Kenya's "7 times" to Kandi'a "hook on phonics"
I really wish Claudia had more time to shine on RHoA, would love to see her go toe to toe with Nene and the other housewives for another season at least.
Have the protests raging in the US right now spread to Puerto Rico? Are the mainland protests being covered much by media there?
Finally, I got an acceptance letter!! yay!
Exciting news.
Thank you, everyone, for the encouraging words.

I wanted make something of an effort post on a very important topic, which is the political future of Puerto Rico. This my first real longer post, so please let me know what I messed up.
What should Puerto Ricoโs future path be? What would be most beneficial for Puerto Rico, now, and the 20-30 years in the future?
Iโll preface by saying that I have no connection with Puerto Rico, other than many friends from the island, and maybe some 3rd cousins according to 23andMe. So Iโm neutral on the issue โ neutral, but interested.
All right, so weโll start with some background about Puerto Rico. As most of us are aware, Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the US. The term โunincorporatedโ territory denotes that Puerto Rico retains the potentialโlegally speakingโto: become a state of the United States; become a sovereign nation, either fully independent from the United States or with a voluntary compact of free association with the United States; or maintain its current status.
As a practical matter, in order for Puerto Rico to change its political status, the people of Puerto Ricoโthrough an exercise of their right to self-determinationโmust first request a change in status in a fair and impartial plebiscite. If the people of Puerto Rico do request a change in status, the federal government would have to enact legislation to approve the requested change.
Legally speaking, Puerto Ricans are US citizens and have the same citizenship as any other US citizen. I know that many band about the term โsecond-classโ citizen, but let me be clear when I say that there is only one type of citizenship (there are US nationals in the case of Samoa, thatโs a different story) and all citizens are legally equal (i.e. a Gringo born in New York doesnโt get to vote for president if he moves to PR either)
Federal law provides that a bona fide resident of Puerto Rico is generally not required to pay federal tax on income he or she earns in Puerto Rico (except for income earned by the roughly 9,400 federal government employees on the island), and that a corporation organized in Puerto Rico is generally treated as a foreign corporation for U.S. tax purposes, and therefore is generally not required to pay federal tax on its Puerto Rico-source income.
Congress generally determines whether Puerto Rico and the four other territories are eligible for federal programs on a case-by-case basis, and defines any differential treatment in law. Puerto Rico is treated the same as the

Admitting Puerto Rico and Washington D.C. as U.S. states would be both good for democracy and the Democratic party. The citizens of these jurisdictions would be represented in congress, have the dignity of statehood, the U.S. Senate would have 4 new likely Democratic senators, and the Electoral College would be slightly less Republican-favored.
But we can do better. Puerto Rico is not the only island territory that the U.S. continues its rather imperialist rule over, there are 4 more populated island territories. Those are the territories of Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands. Most of these territories are solidly Democratic and are ripe opportunities for more blue states to add to the union while simultaneously doing something that is good for democracy. (note that the Northern Marianas lean Republican on a local basis, but their non-voting house delegate is an independent who has been elected as a Democrat before, and the territory could turn Democratic when brought into national politicsโby the Democratic party.) The reason that I am posting is that while D.C. and Puerto Rico statehood make their way into the mainstream the rest of the territories are left behind in their politically neutered status for what is a rather common-sense issue to solve. In addition, it is one of few methods to make the Senate a more representative body aside from reforming the entire system or seeming like a blatant power-grab (e.g. splitting California into multiple pieces or something.) The result would be more Democratic Electoral College votes, 10-12 more Democratic senators, 5-6 new safe Democratic house seats, some of which would likely be transmuted from safe Republican districts or swing districts, and once again, the dignity of statehood being given to these territories (which is often needed a lot given their oceanic natureโbeing more prone to natural disasters and the like.)
It is because of this that I call on The Neoliberal Project and everybody else to advocate for the statehood of all territoriesโnot just Puerto Ricoโand the District of Columbia, for the good of the political future of America and democracy as a whole.
Edit: Should've been more clear that the process of admitting states requires the consent of the people of that state. That is and should be the case, and I'm more recommending that we include statehood for Guam, etc. in our discussions as an optio

Esta ganando fuerza el inglรฉs/creรฉis que acabarรก desapareciendo el espaรฑol?
Iโm at a point in my life where Iโm ready to build an off the grid homestead. I have 170,000 in savings, no debt, and 7,200 coming in a month. I also have military health insurance and Tricare.
I have been trying to immigrate to France, Spain, and Australia the last two years but Iโve found it to be too much of a gamble without having enough for a golden visa.
Iโm used to hurricanes and hot weather. Housing is cheaper in PR, thereโs access to Costco and hardware stores.
Do you guys have any suggestions? Iโd like to build vacation rentals in the future as well.
Thank you in advance! I hope everyoneโs staying safe
I started doing research on the history of PR and became very interested in politics of Puerto Rico. Are the majority of Puerto Ricans, conservative or liberal or moderate?
We went from 3,808,610 people to just 2,878,259. Yes, we lost 1/3 of our population in just 10 years.
This is the 3rd highest rate of population decrease on the planet. So can we get an F in the chat from every Latin American nation?
If DC and Puerto Rico were to be admitted as the 51st and 52nd states of the U.S., would the Democratic Party be expected to reliably control the United States Senate?
Hello all,
I hope you all are making it though these strange days. My wife and I are blessed to be able to work remotely from the west side of Puerto Rico. The sunsets are great!.. the ISP options are not great. Currently our only option for an unlimited data plan is from a provider called Claro. Claro is bad at the internet. right now our service comes from a standard phone line running in to the cheapest, lightest, ISP provided router Ive ever seen (the brand is called Technicolor nufsed) Download speeds are can be ok... Browsing speeds are sort of ok... streaming speeds are passable-ish... FTP transfer and Upload speeds are downright glacial (slow to the point of not a feasible option) This is rough, because I often have to transfer large files for work. My hope is that you guys have some thoughts on how to improve my internet service. Is there a certain Router I should purchase with a oldschool phone jack option? Is there a hack in the port settings I can change? is there a reasonable cellular wireless option (unlimited data) I should look in to?
Thanks in advance, be well,
Should Puerto Rico become independent? Should it become a state? What do you think?
Hi everyone!
I'm looking at researching the use of both Spanish and English in the countries listed in my title. I'm quite new to the Hispanic culture but I think it's simply incredible and I love it (I'm also a die-hard reggaetรณn fan and have been for quite a few years now haha).
Anyway, I want to hear your views on how you experience both languages in your country. Is there a dominant language? Is there a particular profession/reason as to why both languages are used (e.g in business, casual conversation, politics)? How does the current BLM situation make you feel?
