hello (again) everyone! i did an AMA 6 years ago around the release of my last album, Worlds. since then, I worked on "Shelter" with Madeon, and also co-created "Shelter the Animation" shortly after. i also launched a side project a few years ago called Virtual Self (recommended if you're interested in deep dives into electronic music subgenres and turn-of-the-millennium aesthetics).
last friday, i released my second album, "Nurture", which is a project that took me about 6 years on-and-off. after "Worlds", i felt this really strong need to write an album that explored the beauty of reality and of the everyday, but as i'm sure we'll get into here, it was one of the hardest (and most worthwhile!) things i've ever done.
here's the new album "nurture" ! https://porterrobinson.com/nurture
feel free to ask me anything!
i'm also really interested in speaking about creativity more broadly, since it's something i've thought about a lot over the last few years.
Narrative seems to be lebron gets preferential treatment because he didn't get suspended. Theres already been players this year who violated protocol and didn't get suspended. So I'm confused why people think it should be different for him? What you're accusing the league of doing, you're doing yourself
The former Cavs legend lit up the stat sheet against Milwaukee tonight.
Kevin Porter Jr dropped 50 and 11 against the bucks, even though they don’t play exactly the same, they have a lot of similarities.
Like his double stepback for example.
I will say that Luka is a lot more similar to Harden than Kevin Porter Jr, but Kevin Porter Jr has some qualities that are similar.
But it’s insane how they got him for just a 2nd rounder.
>There simply is not a worse time for Murray to have a significant injury if that is the case.
>Denver has two years to pay both Porter and Gordon. Then Jokic’s contract is up after that.
>For the rug to be pulled out from under them now is devastating. Injuries fucking suck.
That’s pretty crazy, I didn’t realize how short there window with this current roster is.
It was a historically effecient season from MPJ despite still being quite raw as a player.
He shot a blistering 47% from 3 and 57% from the field over the final 38 games of the season (and was 42% from 3 in his career before that stretch). His TS% wound up at 66%.
His historic accuracy from the floor overall and from 3 is mind boggling for what is practically a second year player. Half of his shots are 3’s, yet hes still shooting a healthy 55% from the field and 45% from 3 on heavy volume. Literally shoots like Steph, big like Klay (even bigger actually) territory. Scary potential and still has so much room to grow as a facilitator and defender with his 6’10” frame and long wingspan.
Do you see MPJr as a future superstar in this league?
Michael Porter Jr. says growing up he was always a fan of Austin Rivers: "He has one of the coldest mixtapes ever."
fax lol. dude was so cold back in high school. i thought he was going to be a super good player in this league. got drafted super high as well i think. john wall mixtapes also cold.
edit: in case y’all haven’t seen any of it yet
In the 2018 NBA Draft, the NBA welcomed numerous talented studs, even compared to other star-studded years. Luka Doncic looking like a future MVP, Trae Young - a seemingly perennial all-star/all-NBA, tenacious scorers in Collin Sexton and Gary Trent Jr, solid players like the Bridges brothers, and Mitchell Robinson, a solid defensive center in the Knicks, and don't forget JJJ, an 18/5 guy for Memphis in just his 2nd year.
Recently, after MPJ has been thrown in the spotlight with Murray out, and, for the last 10 games, has been averaging 25PPG on 67%TS. Hell, the past 27 games, he has been averaging 23PPG on 69%TS!
Absolutely nuts! Then I remembered the other guy in the 2018 draft, who we also know as an efficient scorer. SGA. SGA has averaged 24PPG this season on the Oklahoma City Thunder. Reddit loves him, OKC loves him, stats love him. He's gone under the radar and has been decommissioned, assumingly because OKC can't seem to consistently tank with him on the court. He's that good.
However, lately I've seen more and more people saying they'd take MPJ over SGA, or MPJ's ceiling is higher than SGA, third to Doncic's and Zion's. There may be some truth to this, but how sure are we that SGA is also done improving? This is his 3rd season of improvement, and seems to be far from his actual ceiling too.
For discussion purposes, and because I have too much time to spare, let's take a closer look at SGA and MPJ, and discuss, as observers of the sport, who would you take? Who do you think will be better? Who can be the number 1 guy on a championship team?
MPJ: 6'10 218lbs 7" wingspan
SGA: 6'6 198lbs 6'10.5 wingspan
For the season:
|Michael Porter Jr||18.7||1||7.6||66%TS|
At first glance, SGA seems to be better. 5 more points per game and 5 more assists per game on an efficient 62%TS.
However, again, the past 27 games, MPJ has been scorching hot, 23PPG on 69%TS makes you incredibly optimistic for the future. The past 4 games he's at 31PPG! We can observe that these hyper-efficient high-scoring games are being more and more common, and MPJ has shown consistency on being able to shoot over defenders or cut to the basket.
But there's a reason why MPJ is efficient, and we could possibly attribute some of his success in efficiency to MVP candidate Jokic. With this, we'll go to the crux of analysis. HOW does SGA and MPJ get thei... keep reading on reddit ➡
He's probably the one person who benefits on a personal level with Jamal being out and I'm happy to see him ball like this and hopefully we max him this off season.

Literally fuming right now.
This is a work league and the commish is best friends with the guy who traded away his entire team and essentially tried telling me that he couldn’t veto the trade as a LM and only as a fellow team-manager which doesn’t override the trade. I know this to be absolute bullshit as I’ve commissioned over 20 leagues in the last ~10 years.
Now my opponent has:
I can’t even make a huge fuss about this because the guy that traded his entire team is my boss. I’m never playing in a work league again. Oh and I’m beating my opponent 8-1. Fuck this
Michael Porter Junior is probably the one guy on the Nuggets who has benefited from Jamal Murray's injury and he's showing what an absolute weapon he is. Funny enough he's now probably the first option with Jokic taking a more withdrawn role as well.
With the release of his new album nurture and announcement of the return of his festival Second Sky, I was reminded of some drama that would make a good post for this subreddit. Some citations and sources have been lost to time and am going to try and limit some to prevent any possible harassment [Goes without saying, but DON'T troll people involved]. Also, this is all written in a perspective before his new album, so keep that in mind.
Porter Robinson 101:
Porter Robinson is a big time electronic producer and DJ whose main work if I had to uncharitably summarize would be described as "feelsy anime dance music." The guy actually has quite the interesting backstory worthy of a post of its own, but for the sake of this story I'm just gonna hit some highlights to help explain why he has such a big fanbase.
Porter is basically the poster child for a small town nerdy kid gone world famous Musician. Raised by anime, DDR, and the internet, he was making electronic music since he was a teenager and hit it big as a DJ by the time he was 17. Though he originally made waves for his jockey persona and electro house Spitfire EP, he found that wasn't really him and went to his nerdier roots and released his debut album Worlds in 2014.
Needless to say, it became a hit. In fact, I would go as far as to say it's a BELOVED album among fans and basically seen as one of the holy grails of rave culture. While ultimately an Electronic album, it takes a lot of influence from indie, pop, and especially J-pop and Vocaloid, giving it a very anime-esque emotional and ethereal vibe that made it quite a stand out from other mainstream EDM at the time. His Worlds Live concert is basically considered a must see for any raver, and it's considered such an experience that its NOTORIOUS for making people bawl into tears. In 2016, he released arguably his biggest hit to date with the single Shelter alongside Madeon, another DJ/Producer who shares a crazy backstory with him and has a lot of fan overlap, basically the Ken to his Ryu. Add in a literal tear jerking AMV made by the studio behind Sword Art Online and this man basically cemented himself as a God amongst the rave and EDM community and a headliner for festivals to come.
Porter's also pretty unique in the community for his personality. W... keep reading on reddit ➡

I wasn’t expecting the original post to get so much traction so I figured I’d give you all an update on how the rest of the match played out.
I fucked my opponent up. The collusion wasn’t enough to beat my All Star squad in Westbrook, Sabonis, Beal, Harden, D. Murray, Wiggins, and Walker.
Ended up beating him 7-2. Find the results below (please note, the commish didn’t include Turnovers in our categories and instead accidentally did FT%)

FG%: 49.9% // 49.3%
FT%: 82.9% // 76.9%

Let this be a lesson to all the collusive managers out there; DON’T DO IT!

Hello. I’ve been having this issue as a straight male. I’ve never been attracted to a guy but I can’t get my mind off MPJ. every time I wake up, every time I go to bed, whenever I’m at work: I can’t keep my mind off of him and I honestly think I’ve fallen in love. Is anyone else having this issue?
