Why do elephants have big ears?

Because Noddy wouldn't pay the ransom.

True story: I was in a biology class when the tutor actually asked this question for real. This actually happened, no joke. Finally, after all these years, I was actually able to give the joke answer in an actual real-life honest-to-goodness context. This was it. My time had come. This was the moment I had been waiting for and had trained for all my life.

He didn't get it.

[TOMT] puppet tv show characters

Basically I have a memory of two puppet characters that were horse heads, one male one female, from what I recall the male was a black horse head and the female was pink with maybe flowers in their mane. I think it was from a children’s tv show from the 90’s could be early 00’s. I thought it could have been from the tv show The Noddy Shop as I think they were toys in a toy shop with other puppet toys but I could be wrong as I’ve searched and viewed clips of the show with these characters to never be seen. At this point i’m starting to believe I’ve made this whole thing up lol, any help would be appreciated :-)

What would the cast of a major Kirby spin-off title look like?

So, one of the items on my wishlist for Kirby Air Ride 2 is for there to be more playable characters (that serve basically as reskins of Kirby mechanics-wise - Dedede and Meta Knight essentially being vehicles didn't appeal to me). However, once I starting thinking about things like "exactly how many characters would there be" and "who would be available (besides the obvious)", I was at a loss. So, I'd like to restate my question in a more general sense:

Were there a big Kirby spin-off, like a fighting game (that isn't Kirby Fighters; having the same character over and over again is cheating) or a racing game or what-have-you, who would be playable?

My list, now that I've had more time to think it over, is thus:

  • Kirby
  • King Dedede
  • Meta Knight
  • Bandana Dee

  • Rick
  • Kine
  • Coo
  • Marx
  • Gooey
  • Nago
  • Chuchu
  • Pitch
  • Adeline
  • Ribbon
  • Shadow Kirby
  • Dark Meta Knight
  • Daroach
  • Spinni, Storo, and Doc (feat. The Squeakers)
  • Magolor
  • Taranza
  • The Three Mage Sisters (Francesca, Flaubert, and Zan Partizann)
  • Hyness

  • Waddle Dee
  • Waddle Doo
  • Poppy Bros. Jr.
  • Broom Hatter
  • Chef Kawasaki
  • Sir Kibble
  • NESP
  • Knuckle Joe
  • Burning Leo
  • Bonkers
  • Chilly
  • Bio Spark
  • Parasol Waddle Dee
  • Noddy
  • Rocky
  • Plugg
  • Como
  • Bugzzy
  • Blade Knight
  • Driblee
  • Wester
  • Wheelie
  • Birdon
  • Gim
  • Bronto Burt
  • Cappy

[1] The major enemies associated with most common abilities and some more obscure but more recent ones as well. Also features some ability-less common enemies.

I was originally going to feature more, but since I just listed at least 48 playable choices consisting of over 50 characters, maybe I should stop there. It could even use some trimming, so I'd like to ask your help there.

Some extra choices:

  • Dark Matter Swordsman
  • Captain Vul
  • Galacta Knight
  • Queen Sectonia
  • President Haltman
  • Morpho Knight

[TOMT][MOVIE] late 90's early 2000 movie

I have a picture of the character but I can't remember the name of the film. When I was a kid I would watch it all the time. It was an animated/stop motion film of a girl or boy delivering something. They had brown hair, a blue hat with a bell on it at the end, a red shirt, a yellow poke-dotted scarf, red shoes, yellow socks, were chased by two robbers, and she/he was holding I think a basket.

Edit: It is a t.v series and is from early 90s not late

Marx- Nova Fueled Noddy or Truly Powerful Puff?

I've seen a number of people make choices with Marx's character and I just wanted to point some things out about him. Like how everyone says he got his power from Nova. That's very unlikely. Maybe I misinterpreted it but I'm pretty sure Marx just wanted to cause mischief on Popstar with no consequences for his actions. He wanted to control Popstar, not for nefarious purposes but for mischievous ones. (This was explained in Super Star Ultra's cutscene prior to the Nova battle). However, it DOES state he can now do anything in the original, so while that rule may apply to pre-2008 Marx, it doesn't apply to the new, retconned Marx post Super Star Ultra release. [Smash Ultimate even refers to Marx's winged form as his true form, implying that, similar to how a scarfy works, Marx didn't actually gain any substantial powers he didn't already possess after making his wish request to Nova] Another thing that tends to bother me is the idea that Marx died from the Nova explosion. This was hinted at being false in the pause descriptions for Marx in Star Allies, as they stated he "sensed danger from afar" and he "has finally arrived to get in on the action," implying he was never dead to begin with. Besides, it's not very unlikely, as Marx is only shown dead in the cutscene prior to the Marx Soul battle, which is a what-if scenario, implying again that this event could have only occured had Marx died from crashing into Nova. One final note to point out is that some people believe Marx told Magolor about Kirby prior to Return to Dreamland. This is not impossible, as it was some accident that caused Susie to travel to Another Dimension, possibly due to Star Dream. Since Star Dream is indeed a clockwork star, it's not outrageous to state that Nova's explosion couldn't have triggered the same type of effect, as we have seen Nova manipulate time and space before in the Galacta Knight scene, which although also a what-if scenario, it shows canon abilities of Nova. Although Galacta Knight, with his weird retconning type powers could have told Magolor of Kirby's existence, Marx's mischievous nature fits that scenario better and the new question becomes: how did Marx return to Kirby's dimension?

{This isn't to hate on other people's Kirby beliefs but these were just some things I felt really needed to be pointed out.}

[The Noddy Shop] Noah is in a nursing home.

What the audience sees is everything that is in Noah's head.

  • The segments with real people are actual real people that Noah interacts with:
    • Agatha's really his sister
    • Kate and Truman are his grandkids.
    • DJ is also Noah's grandson, but Noah did not like him, hence why he imagines him as just Kate's friend.
    • Charlene Von Pickings is the nursing home director who only comes in occasionally. Explains her attitude and limited appeareances.
    • April May: A handler of therapy animals. Noah pretends that the animals are more exotic.
    • Officer Spiffy: The security guard in charge of Noah's wing.
    • Ice Cream Lady: Noah's favorite cafe worker.
  • The toys are memories of Noah's life that he recounts:
    • Warloworth: A kid Noah went to school with who used to bully him a lot. He did this by pulling mean spirited pranks on him and his classmates.
    • Granny Duck: Noah's grandmother who has long passed.
    • Bonita: A woman Noah met while abroad. (probably in Central/South America)
    • Sherman and Rusty: Two of Noah's best friends from sea
    • Johnny Crawfish: Noah's memories of his favorite show, The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.
    • Gertie Gator: A motown singer that Noah met while abroad.
    • Whiny and Whimper: The mother of Truman and Kate aborted their first child. This explains why there is both a male and a female baby.
    • Gaylord Gumball: Noah's grandfather and husband of Granny Duck
  • Island Princess: Noah's mother
    • Any one shot character (examples: Disrupto, Angelina): A visitor to the nursing home.
    • Planet Pup: Noah's dog that he had as a child
  • Noddy's Toyland Adventures segments: This works very similar to how it does in the actual story. Noah has a series of miniatures that he uses to tell stories.
  • The goblins are the nurses that come in every day to care for Noah. This explains why they're antagonists.

Kids & Dragons

I have posted this occasionally as a reply to people looking to introduce their younger children to TTRPGs like D&D, but I was asked to make this it's own post, so without further ado, I introduce you to K&D!

Playing with kids

This is a game for children ages 3+ I've played it with my kids since they were 3 and a half, though I had to do a little more of the setup at first. Now 4 and 5, they can fill out their own sheets and add up their die rolls themselves! It's a very child friendly introduction to the world of RPGs.

One of the most common questions I get about playing with young children is how to encourage their creativity. Let me put that question to bed. Kids need no help being imaginative and creative. Once you let them know they can say or do anything, they'll blow you away with their creativity.

That said, there are things that will limit them. First is interest, or more specifically, the attention span of that interest. A game session with children needs to only last about as long as a board game, so none of those 4 hour D&D marathons. Instead, you want them to go around 10 to 20 minutes. Any longer and they will literally just walk away to do something else.

Second is complexity. Most RPGs are simply far too complicated for young kids. There are some nicely simplified options that work great for older children (but who are still too young for an adult game), but I found even those to be a little too convoluted for my family. Instead, this game reduces everything to a simple roll, a little customization, and a whole lot of make believe.

The rules

They liked the idea of making a character (even though those characters were literally them), and they wanted to make them unique in ways that affected the game. After all, despite not understanding D&D, they were aware that different PCs were better at certain things. They also wanted magic and super powers and unicorns and a literal locomotive, tracks and all, to materialize so they could safely cross the street. Well then, a lot of liberties needed to be given to them, while still constraining them to simple, understandable rules of a game. So here it is...

Character Sheet

Making a character is simple. Each character has four stats: Strong, Fast, Smart, and Cute. They get 8 points to invest amongst them, with a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 3 in each. So you'll get some combination of [2 2 2 2], [3 2 2 1], or [3 3 1 1].

They also get **3 "heart

What accents are in Noddy: Toyland Detective?

My 2yr son recently found Noddy on YouTube and he is hooked. So far I am amused watching it... but we will see if I say the same after a 50th+ viewing haha.

Anyway, I’ve been watching and wondering what are all the different characters accents? We are from the States, so I can hear the differences but don’t know the names of the different accents. Noddy, Naughticorns, Pat-Pat, Smartysaurus, Clockwork Mouse etc? Hoping someone can satiate my thirst for additional Noddy trivia - thanks in advance!
