Hi everyone! Lately I’ve been thinking about why I haven’t been able to enjoy some of the newer games of the franchise. Some of the reasons are obvious, like the lack of customization and story in games like Hot Pursuit and Rivals or the awful handling model of 2015 and Payback. However, there’s something else. I think the reason that the games after Carbon failed to match its predecessors (in my opinion) it’s because of the lack of soul they have. I don’t know, even in this day playing underground 2, the first most wanted or even carbon has a different vibe to it. The cities, the stories, everything just meshes together nicely. These three certainly feel like more than just games for me. And don’t say it’s just nostalgia, even if I play those three today it just feels more heartwarming than playing some of the newer games

This is probably a cross between a rant and an actual constructive review but I wanted to get my opinion out there for anyone considering getting NFS: Hot Pursuit Remastered. I checked all of the reviews before buying and waited for BF to get a good deal. And in the end, I just don't feel like it was worth it.
To preface, I'm not trying to present both sides. Because while there are positives to the game and it can be enjoyable at times, the negatives suck the very soul out of the gameplay experience. I've chosen to rank my issues from "Unforgivable Sins" to mere things that annoy me. I hope this helps others considering getting this game.
(1) Complete lack of a "Sense of Speed"
This has to be the worst thing you can say about a racing game. I feel no difference traveling 110 vs 210 MPH. The only indication that you’re going that fast is the speedometer and sluggishness of turning. Otherwise, there's no blur or anything to make you feel like you’re flying. That’s the whole point and it’s missing entirely.
Frankly the only time you actually feel this is when you use the “Turbo” during a pursuit. It feels great like you’ve entered warp-speed despite being nothing more than nitrous on steroids.
(2) Constant Fucking Interruptions
The game uses bounty as the “currency” by which progress is made. Most races give you around 10,000 for first. In each game, you can do things like take downs or hitting spike strips to earn small amounts of bounty in the range of 200. For some reason beyond my understanding, the game needs to stop the action literally every time to show you a slow-motion view of a cop or opponent crashing should you hit or clip them. Constantly, focus is broken to see the physics engine struggle in vain to show how a car crashing at 200+ MPH might flip (or not). But even worse, while this is happening, your car goes into a brief autopilot mode and the results are generally crap. Sure sometimes, you come back mid-drift and can take over and finish the turn. Other times, you’re 10 feet away from running directly into a wall. I get this is Burnout’s thing but this isn’t Burnout.
Also, a new cop joins the pursuit? Better show that in slow motion too and break the race up for no reason. Were you just about to try to thread the needle of a roadblock? Shame that the AI doesn’t care and you come back to the race smashing into a parked cop car.
(3) If it’s not interruptions to the game, it’s the other bullshit... keep reading on reddit ➡
First of, I am relatively new to reddit and this sub. And also to the Need for Speed franchise. The closest I've ever played an NFS game was the NFS mobile game (not sure of the title) and even then, I quit playing it after a couple of days. IMO the game revolved too much on microtransactions and it just didn't offer the same experience as Asphalt 8. IMO, Asphalt 8 is my favorite mobile racing game (yes even after the release of Asphalt 9). Anyway, the only car games I have ever played on my console are the Forza franchise, and even then I've only played Forza Horizon 4. So basically, I am new to car sims/arcade field. I hope this background will help towards yall's suggestion on what game I should buy.
Anyway I have condensed my choices between:
This may seem meticulous, but I want descriptive reasons as to why you picked that particular game, and not just simple "I like this" or "[name of game] sucks". If possible, make a Pro/Con list. That's all
Since I can't pin my own comment here: " I chose these 4 games just because they're the newer ones so I expected them to be good. (To reiterate, its my first time, technically, playing an NFS title) But I can see now with the suggestions pouring in, newer is not always better. Thanks for the suggestions. Will check out Underground 2 and Most Wanted. Any chance those are in EA Access or atleast Background Compatible with Xbox one X? "
Game Title: Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered
Developer: Stellar Entertainment Limited
Publisher: Electronic Arts
>This game is an active exercise in the "don't fix what isn't broken" mentality, banking on nostalgia, and succeeding greatly at that. It doesn't really bring much that's new to the table but it's a recommended buy for anyone who wants a simple racer or is a fan of Hot Pursuit at the price it's going for.
>Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is a true recreation of the original game from Criterion Games and EA on last-gen consoles for current-gen hardware. The great visual improvements appropriately age the title, while extremely little is done to change the original gameplay experience. This makes Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered a must-buy not only for fans of the original Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit but also for any Need for Speed fans who are itching for the classic experience.
>Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is still a great game a decade later, but it's even better now with the addition of modern multiplayer sensibilities, improved visuals, and an expansive single-player campaign.

Oh boy. Well, I thought I wouldn't need to post this, but I guess I have to. I not only met a Karen, but I also met her demonspawn of a crotch goblin on Need For Speed.
First of all, I'm heavily into dinosaurs and play Ark mist of the day when I'm not at work or volunteering, but that isn't relevant. What is relevant is that I have a lot of experience on Need For Speed and I can drift in any Toyota when tuned correctly. This kid, let's call him EB for Entitled Brat, thought he was the bee's knees (the big man for you american readers, but we brits say the bee's knees) and challenged everyone to a Drift Trial drift race. He was a rank 70, same as me, and he had more experience than me on the game, but he didn't know the mountain we were drifting on. It was the Wide and Tight drift course, which is essential the road on Mount Akina for all you Initial D fans out there. He didn't know the road, he didn't know what car to use, and so he ended up in the guard rail more times than I could count. I ended up in first with over 200,000 points while he came last with only 5,000 points. He had a tantrum and screamed down the mic at everyone. I challenged him to it again but suggested he changed his car tuning and after he did, he ended up in second, and I came third. I didn't say I was a perfect drifter.
But then his mom came on and yelled at us to get off the game and that it was for kids only. Enter Entitled Mother.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing?! You made my sweet angel cry!" She was like a fucking banshee. So the rumors are true that ALL Karens are like this.
"Don't swear at us for your son being bad at drifting. He just needs to-"
Did I forget to mention my 7 year old cousin was in the room with me and I was teaching her to play the game? I did? Well, now you know. She burst into tears because she hated adults yelling at her.
I thought "Okay, bitch. Game. Fucking. On."
"Did you fucking hear me, you little shits?! And who's bratty whore is crying?!"
"Okay, that's it. To scum like you, I'll never lose!" Those were literally the words that I said to her because I felt like Takumi after he was bumped into a full 180 spin by Shingo
I challenged the EM to a Touge battle. She lost miserably. To me. An 86 driver. Remember the Initial D AE86? That is the car I have in Need For Speed.
They haven't bothered me since. Moral of the story?
Don't ever fuck with an 86 driver, even on games.
I’m sure you have all had the same experience, you get into combat with a large group of enemies (perhaps a goblin camp or a well filled with phase spiders?) and it takes literal minutes for your turn to roll around because you’re watching 10+ enemies move or attack before your group can do anything.
It’s pretty frustrating and gruelling to sit there and watch it all play out.
I suggest we have the ability to hit space to skip the enemy turn to make it move faster. You could spam space and just watch all the enemy units act in one go before rolling over to your next character.
It would massively improve the experience.
The power jack and hot hand both have similar stats. Except the hot hand sucks and the powerjack is probably the best pyro melee.
So I recently noticed that my speeds were sorta slow and I did a test and I got about 40 mbps. I isolated the problem to my router (TPLINK AX50) by plugging in a computer directly to the modem. When directly into the modem I got 900 or greater. So I reset my router, and did the set up again. Now I'm getting the 900 or greater.
I keep having to reset the router to get the 900+ when I realize it's being a tad slow.
Yesterday I ran cat6 to a room and when I tested it initially I got around 100-200 mbps and I figured I would reset the router and bam it fixed it and was getting 900+.
Why is this? Is it just a crap router?
imo I'd be happy.
