I think Mozilla objectively made a mistake...

I think Mozilla posting this article on twitter was a mistake no matter which way you look at it.

I think the points they made at the end of the article:

>Reveal who is paying for advertisements, how much they are paying and who is being targeted.
>
>Commit to meaningful transparency of platform algorithms so we know how and what content is being amplified, to whom, and the associated impact.
>
>Turn on by default the tools to amplify factual voices over disinformation.
>
>Work with independent researchers to facilitate in-depth studies of the platforms’ impact on people and our societies, and what we can do to improve things

are fine and are mostly inline with their core values. But the rest of the article (mainly the title - which is the only thing a lot of people read) doesn't align with Mozilla's values at all.

All publishing this article does is alienate a large fraction of the their loyal customers for little to no benefit. I hope Mozilla learns from this

After the Mozilla statement "the need of more than deplatforming", I've made the jump to brave after being a Firefox using for over 15 years. I'm ashamed to say it took me this long.

Aforementioned post. My reason for sticking with Firefox was to support software diversity in the growing number of chromium based browsers. Mozilla talking about abusing their power in the open while trying to say they are for a safe and fair internet with better privacy is a strong red pill on how rotten Mozilla has become.

After further research and hearing a few good arguments it's clear to me now that the open source nature of chromium does more to support software diversity than I lead myself to believe. (In my mind Google = try to avoid)

I suppose the point of this post is to show there are people like me who are outdated on the status of Firefox. And with a little outreach, most Firefox users would better align with Brave's philosophy in 2021 which drove us to use Firefox over chrome for all these years.

Edit: Thanks for the silver!
