I imagined that to get to eq. (7) I just needed to take the derivative in respect to z in eq. (4), but where does the cosine come from?
I understand it’s due to the cross product but I don’t understand why the magnetic field lines need to be circular instead of radially outwards
We know that moving conductors in a magnetic field generate EMF. The plane flies in the Earth’s magnetic field. Is there any way to use this EMF to generate electricity (perhaps by completing the circuit) and using it to power the plane? In any sense, is this usable energy at all? (Even if it’s negligible)
I suck at describing things, but I would an album where the lyrics relate to a common story. I never have dived too deep into in an actual. My friends never have recommendations for me because we all listen to the same artists pretty much.
I know for a rod that is travelling at a constant speed in a uniform magnetic field, there is a change in magnetic flux due to the change in area, ultimately given by the formula E = Blv, but what if it is a coil?
I’ve read from certain sources that emf won’t be induced due to no change in flux as the whole coil is travelling through the uniform magnetic field, but wouldn’t that logic apply to the rod as well if that is the case?
According to the NOAA, there is a chance of G1-class geomagnetic storms on January 6th. This is due to a double coronal mass ejection (CME) from the sun observed on January 2nd. Since this is only a G1-class storm, at worse gps will be scrambled for a bit and you may see some northern lights.
